Supcase Unicorn Beetle for Note 5 - Video Review - Galaxy Note5 Accessories

Came in today from amazon.

Love the look and feel, but i don't like the thinness of the top and bottom lips.
Especially the bottom, where it doesn't quite curve up to cover the bezel of the phone. That will annoy me over time. It seems it wants to naturally lay just below bottom bezel
Might not bother some, but for me, I can just see this getting snagged in and out of my pocket and constantly having to clean out that area of dust/lint/etc..
The materials are nice to the touch here, and it adds zero bulk - which is important for me.
The hard frosted plastic on the back feels nice, and nothing is too 'cheap'. the TPU/Rubberized sides all around, feel great in the hand, and all the ports do line up just perfect.
If it wasn't for the 'flimsy' non-snug fitment on the bottom bezel, this would be a keeper.
Going to try the Rignke Fusion smoke black next - to see if it's a bit more solid. - (Speaking of which, anyone have one of those and wants to trade for this one straight up, PM me!)
Video review - HERE

Like the case but the bottom is a no go for me. That would bother me as well.

Of the 4 cases i have bought this is my favorite one.
The bumps on the back help the grip feel a lot.

[Q] Incipio Feather Light Case?

Does anybody have this? It looks really sharp (and I'm about to order one) but the only thing holding me back is the top/bottom. It looks like it doesn't cover it properly. Whenever I've dropped a phone and got some scuffs, it's always the top and bottom that take the brunt of it.
If you have this case, could you post some pics? Or provide some insight to the protection? Here is a link to it on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-MT-143-Feather-Motorola-Bionic/dp/B005DQF7TU
i had this case for a few weeks now. i'm pretty happy with it. phone sits nice and snug inside the case with a nice feel to the material and barely adds any dimensions it.
the front extends a bit past the edge of the phone so that its raised off your glass if put face down. the top and bottom is exposed but if it falls on any flat surface the edges of the case sticks out far enough that it'll hit the case first and not the phone itself. not sure if the case will pop out on a fall and don't intend to find out, but it fits snug enough that sometimes it takes the back battery door off when i remove the case. screen protector that comes with the case is complete junk.

Ok ok, I like. Can you post some pics? I've seen a bunch of pics online, but I want a clear view of the top and bottom.

Thanks for the link, just checked it out. I'm still torn. I absolutely LOVE the look and sleekness of it, but I know as soon as I buy it I'll drop my phone and scuff the top. This would anger me
I dropped my x2 three days after purchase and scuffed it all up right at the top. I haven't let this Bionic be naked once - it was covered before I left the store.
It's a damn shame too - because this phone is sexy naked.
Decisions decisions...

I have the Incipio Feather and didn't like how the phone was exposed on the bottom either. I also didn't like the feel of the phone at the bottom with the case on.
I bought a couple Cruzer Lite cases instead and really like them. Check Amazon.
I bought the incipio feather a few weeks ago and its by far the best case out there if you like to keep the curve of the phone and you dont want to add an siginificant bulk

Which Cruzer Lite cases did you get?
I for one, love the Feather case...but alas, I contacted Incipio and they have no plans to make one for the extended battery. Does anyone know of a case that is similar to the feather, but fits the extended battery?

I'm not a big big fan of cases. I had a Droid 1 with the Body Glove that gave really good protection but it made it really bulky and hard to get in and out of pockets. When I upgraded to the Droid X, I just got the full body invisiShield, which worked great but did not protect against drops and dents
The Bionic with the plastic full cover backing, I didn't think a full body invisiShield would have been the right choice to go (actually my friend has it and he has huge peeling problems). When I shopping amazon, I came across this TPU case, and for $9, it was worth a shot... It seriously was the best buy I could've ever made. When its on your phone, it is solid. It doesn't feel flexible and I haven't dropped my Bionic, yet. The backing is a nice matte black -- it has a very natural feel (like you don't have a case). It does add SLIGHT girth/weight, but its not at all cumbersome. The Bionic fits real snug and it lips around the edges in the front (you can set it down face down and the screen doesn't touch the table -- this is a huge convenience, one example would having your phone drop flat on the front side, given that there aren't any rocks or pointed objects (but if you dropped it even w/o the case, well same story...).
The best part, it fits in the Cardock PERFECTLY. Downside, it does not fit on the desk dock... but when I'm at home or at my desk... I rock my Bionic naked... and the case is flexible, so its easy to take off/on.

Thanks for the post - good read.
I researched the case you spoke of and it's very similar to the Verizon gel case I currently have. It definitely provides the right amount of protection, but I'm looking to get that "sexy naked feel" the unprotected Bionic provides.
Here is what I'm thinking. I'm going to order the matte black phantomskinz skin. Cover the top and bottom (the only parts exposed from the incipio feather case) and then rock the incipio. Might be slightly ghetto, but I'm sure I can get it looking good. That will give me the lightweight feel of the incipio case with some protection from nicks and scratches on the top and bottom.
I'll post pics when I make it happen.
I would definitely invest a little more for the balance of sexy and protection, this was just the quick fix for now but its turning into a permanence since it really tops the silicon gels.. pictures just don't do it justice.

I've just become a huge fan of TPU after picking this up. I'm not a big fan of high gloss or clear/patterned designs, the matte black is definitely a sexy finish.

You sure love your TPU. Lol. Few questions:
Have you seen the Verizon gel case that speak of?
How similar/different is it? Size wise? Obviously one is matte and one is glossy.
Just curious, cause that's what I rock, and from pics it seems the matte vs. glossy is the only real noticeable difference.

Yeah, when the Droid X came out, another friend of mine got the Verizon case at the store. The ones we are talking about are the silicone gel cases that are really flexible and rubbery. I would almost describe it as sticky as over time it gets softer and attracts more lint. These slip off the phone easily sometimes. The width that it adds is pretty minimal since it is a floppy material, and a hard shell case is just the opposite in that respect. The hard shell cases in my experience fit the phone real nice, and are not floppy at all, and add minimal width. When you drop a hard shell though, the hardshell cracks over time and it doesnt really distribute the shock. But its to your preference and likelihood of dropping your phone I guess. I'm just really backing how cheap the TPU cases are and how reliable the material is. It seriously is something you have to see to beleive. Let me know how the incipio is!

Update..
I just noticed my desk dock had a "padding"... it totally fits with this case on!
Got this case today.
Initial impressions:
*Absolutely love the thinness of it. It feels like I don't have a case on. Looks sharp.
CONS:
*No top and bottom protection (I knew this before purchase)
*Back gets smudgey

You know what I just realized? When I wrote this post, my phone was in a TPU case. Lol.
I got the smoky argyle one, and definitely loved the appearance and lightweight feel of it. I thought it felt a little janky by the power button (was pretty loose) and there were some leftover nubs from where it was cut - clearly visible against the black background of the screen.
I got some black sandpaper and sanded it down, but it left the case looking like garbage. I got it for $2.95 + $2.95 shipping, so I'm not complaining. I might end up ordering another.
I just got this case, iridescent red one, I agree the top and bottom is exposed but the look and feel of it is very nice. It is very sexy looking as well, doesn't cover anything that shouldn't be covered like holes etc.
The main reason I got this one was that someone said it would fit in the Moto car dock, and it does. However, if I hit a bump some times it pops up justttttt enough to stop charging. Pop it back down and it stays for a while again.
Funny no one else ever mentions this but I live in Florida, and every single black droid I have owned (1, 2, 2global, and now bionic) overheats when going on long trips and using Nav. Can't charge it when it overheats. I wanted to go with Iridescent Red to maybe reflect some of that heat...hope it works.
Also, red and black just go together....

WOWparts Black TPU GEL Skin Back Case Cover

I've had my Nexus 7 for about two weeks now and a week in I decided to find and order a case. Well I did some searching around and I saw those Portenzo and Tree Gloo cases but those were a little expensive for me and I figured they would add more heft to the device than I really wanted.
After a little more searching I settled on getting just a cover type case. Something to protect my Nexus 7 but not something that could close up. I came across this
(amazonDOTcom/KaysCase-S-Line-Google-Tablet-Android/dp/B008GFHP5O/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1344455375&sr=1-2&keywords=TPU+case+for+Nexus+7)
case and I thought I would probably get it. But then I did a little more searching and found this
(amazonDOTcom/WOWparts-Google-Android-Accessory-Cleaning/dp/B008OTICTU)
one. The same case and it's only 5.94 right now and it's got free shipping. You can't beat that. I thought I would go ahead and give it a little review now that I've had it for a couple of days. (Sorry for butchering the links, I can't post any outside ones yet)
In my opinion, the case is totally worth it and probably even worth a little more. It only covers the sides and the back but it does that well. It hugs the device snugly without being too hard to take off and has all the necessary cutouts for the ports and microphones. It is a TPU gel so nothing sticks to it and gets it all dirty. But don't let the shiny black part on the left side of the back fool you. I thought that was a hard plastic from the pictures but it's actually just a glossy finish. The whole case is very flexible and doesn't feel too bad at all. It isn't slippery and it isn't too grippy. The left and right sides are also textured to give you a better grip when holding with one hand in portrait mode. It also raises up a bit over the bezel of the device around the sides, keeping the screen from touching anything when you set it down screen side down. It isn't very cumbersome at all either and adds almost no extra weight to the device.
I hope this helps some of you out there and if you have any questions at all go ahead and ask. If you would like to see some pictures just let me know. I can't post any links here yet so if you want I can send you some Dropbox links.
Save the images and upload them.
It looks good but doesnt have a stand, would have gone for it if it had a stand.

Trident AEGIS grip?

I got a case for my droid2 at the verizon store when I bought my phone. No name that I know of. It was rubbery and had superb grip. I think I could lay it on the roof of my car and drive around with it and it would remain there.
It definitely would never slide off a table or slip out of my hand.
I want this for my note 2. Or at least some type of non-slippery grip.
My wife has the UAG for her S3 and while I like it... it seems slippery as hell. It's marginally better than the phone itself IMO. I really like the design for the note 2 but am hesitant for the above reason.
I'm leaning toward the Trident AEGIS now. I've watched an hour of different reviews on youtube and read countless threads here on the case and nobody really mentions the grip in any detail.
Does this seem like it would fit the bill for me? Can anyone who has or has had one comment on this aspect?
Thanks.

The Aegis seems like a great case. I have the UAG Navigator, and I love it. I have pretty big hands so it's not slippery for me. I agree it is smooth, but I think once you get used to how to hold it, it's very easy to keep in the hands. The plus is, even if you drop it from the "slipping" as you refer, nothing will happen to it because it is just that well protected. I also ordered the Case-Mate Tough based on the great reviews here. It's the thinnest case of the three while still providing very good protection. It also has that nice rubbery feel from what I've read/noted. The only reason I wouldn't go for the Aegis is because it looks more like a toy case. I feel like if they had complete solid colors or at least a black and white combo, it would look really good. Good luck with deciding
So, I assume you have read my official review HERE and comparison review to UAG/Tough/Pop posted in HERE? For your reference, you can also take a look at my UAG review HERE and also Case-Mate Tough review HERE
I'm very picky about cases as well in terms of case friction on a surface and slippery grips, and have reflected that in my write-ups and pictures in the links above. With all that said, if you are looking for a case that will stay dead on surface flat without wobbling, UAG will be your best bet. I know you compared it to UAG S3 case, but that one was different. S3 case had thin rubber ridges around corners making a feet/standoff, while GN2 case has 4 "torx" screw heads evenly spaced and making a cool standoff and a decent grip with a surface. That case will not side. I actually had it in my car a few days ago on top of the middle cup console (with top closed) which is very slippery, and it stayed on while I took a lot of turns. Tough case has a very nice textured grip in your hand, and will not slide like crazy on the surface, but the grip of those UAG torx-head softer rubber feet will have a better grip. Regarding Aegis - you have a back of the case which is not perfectly flat and your grip comes from Trident symbol in the middle of the case. It has a very good hand grip, no doubt about it, but in terms of surface grip - I wouldn't put it at the top of the list.
I would say the best surface grip probably going to come from a flat back TPU case (although stay away from popular Mercury case on Amazon - that one has a shiny sparkly finish and it slides like a soap bar across glass table) - but you also will NOT get the best protection from those TPU cases since most of them designed "slim". Silicon skin cases will be grippy, but they pull around edges and need external plastic shell to hold it down and that plastic shell will either be flat/smooth (thus slippery) or have a kickstand and some textured design (those wobbly when you put it down).
Thanks for the replies.
@opasha - I've never had the UAG for the Note2 in hand so thanks for the info. I've only held/used my wifes on her S3. I suppose there are comparisons out there of those two but I never thought to look for that...but instead just assumed it would be as smooth and slippery.
@vectron - I have seen the majority of your posts on the subject. I know you specifically mention the grip in hand but wasn't totally sure if you meant ergonomically or frictionwise. You may have went into more detail on the subject and if so I might have missed it. I will revisit your writes ups but thanks for addressing it in depth in your reply.
I'm not so much concerned about a flat surface but only mentioned it to illustrate how my droid2 case was. I literally think it would remain on my car roof if I drove around the block a few times. Oddly, my wife had the same exact case (though pink) for her droid2 at the time yet it was not at all as grippy.
It would be nice if it didn't shoot off my desk or table if accidentally knocked but I'm mainly worried about it it slipping out of my hand. I often only have one available as it is so handling a(n expensive) large slick phone is what I'm trying to alleviate with a slightly tacky (or something) case.
I did mean ergonomically, but I also mention in my reviews the grip with a surface since it always bothers me when case slides around Plus, some of the pictures worth thousand words, so yes - check out those links with reviews
The grip on the Aegis is excellent on hand and when laid flat on the screen. If laid on its back then it does slip. I've owned both UAG and Otterbox Commuter but the Aegis has the better grip.

Supcase Hybrid/Gel Case for M8

I got this case and was amazed by the great fit it had to the phone! It arrived in some great packaging and was so happy they had easy to remove protective film on the case. Other products have me peeling at it for 20-30 minutes sometimes to get it all off the clear pieces of the case.
I put it on the phone and it slipped right in with that reassuring "snap" sound once the lip of the case came to the front of the device. I have a bodyguardz glass shield on my phone and the lip on the case doesn't interfere with it at all! the sides of the gel feel firm and don't warp or bend away so easily which keeps everything smooth and easy to use.
My only problem is the clear piece on the back. It came with scratches and defects on it. Also the cut out for the secondary mic isnt correct. It's off and the mic sits at the bottom right of the cut out. When holding the case, i place my pinky finger underneath the phone near the usb and headphone cut outs and the gel cuts are SHARP! It feels like I will cut my finger but that won't happen. But it is VERY uncomfortable. It hasn't caused any problems but these three issues have only left it from being great.

URBAN ARMOR GEAR Case for HTC One (M8), Slate
Once I get these i will post pics and impressions also.
I have the same case currently. Really love the fit and feel. Also the fact that the back is clear and not frosted was my main buying point. I really feel the m8 needs to be shown off, its by far the most attractive phone I've had or seen.

I have this case as well and the fit and finish is very very good. It is very form fitting and doesn't add much bulk. Also, the TPU is extremely clear compared to other 'clear' TPU cases I've seen. I'll be adding a decal to the back of my phone and it will be able to show through really nice with this case.
i just got this case yesterday and i love the fact that is doesn't add much bulk, definately shows off the aluminum finish, and looks great. my only issue with it is that it kind of bows on the upper and lower portion of the phone and doesn't sluggly the upper and lower sections of the phone. hopefully over time and with the heat from being it my pocket it will correct itself. other then that, love the case! definately worth the little money i actually paid for it. =)

Review: Poetic Affinity case

I just received this case in the mail and I'm already loving it. The case design is really nice. I have the black sapphire phone and received the frosted clear case. It matches really well, but it would probably have matched with the black much better. The clear case shows off the sexiness of the note 5. The branding on the case isn't too overwhelming. There's a P in the middle that is right between the words Samsung and Galaxy Note 5. It kind of looks perfect sitting there. It's also branded with Poetic near the bottom of the case. I kind of wish it wasn't there. Rather it had been clear instead. The name of the case, Affinity, is on the side of the case. The case is nice and grippy and it doesn't hurt the hands at all. The back X design looks like a normal design but it serves a purpose. The corners of the X are used for bumper protection and the lines running up and down the case is used to raise the phone from a flat surface a bit. Most of the cut outs are aligned pretty accurately, with the exception of the bottom speaker. The holes are not quite aligned. I don't think it will take away any sound quality but I'm a stickler for perfection sometimes and it bothered me a little. The frost on the sides of the case kind of takes away the silver metal trimming of the phone, but overall it's still a very nice case. I have had Poetic cases before and have never been disappointed. I can highly recommend them.

Even the manufacturers of some of these cases that everyone is reviewing here have asked to keep the reviews all in one thread. Just a thought to keep the clutter at a minimum. Also it makes it easier for people who are looking for a review of a case to read through one thread rather than 4 or 5 or 6 or more....
No one said you aren't entitled to your own review. Just don't know why you need your own thread to do so. [emoji53]

I received mine as well and I like the build quality of this device. I will say that I recieved this case for free, but I will try to be as objective as I can about the case.
Protection:
Its a step above a TPU only plastic case, with clear material on this less likely contact areas to show off the phone, and black "rubberized" bumper integrated to give more structural protection. Where you might crack the corners on a tpu case, the bumper will protect the phone, offer better shock protection and most likely allow the case to survive some impacts. The bumper also crosses along the back of the case and is raised up a little so that the clear plastic doesnt touch the surface, reducing scratches. The bumper around the screen is raised above the device about 1mm or so, which will provide some additional screen protection. The buttons are sealed inside the bumper case, which is nice to prevent dust build up and also protect the switches from impact.
Look:
I got the black and clear. The clear plastic lets me see the good looks of the phone, and the bumper material gives the case a tougher look.
Function:
Buttons work normally, with no weirdness. The cutouts for the speakers dont seem to be ligned up with the holes on the speaker, but I cant tell if there really is any reduction in sound quality. The cut out for the stylus is open enough to not make it a pain to get the pen, without sacrificing protection, as far as I can tell. mini usb and headphones jacks are also easily reached.
The sides of the case along the sides has textured slashes that greatly improve the grip, which I really like. What I dont like is that compared to a slim case, you are adding some size to the width of the phone, but its definatly a trade off given the step up on protection vs a thinner plastic case, or none at all.
Last, wireless charging worked as normal. Reception for wifi and cell service was unaffected.
Whats good:
Step up in protection from a thin plain plastic case, build quality is great.
Whats not:
Makes the phone larger than naked or with a thin case. A tad heavier than one as well.
I would use this case mostly if I know the device is going to be in harsher conditions than day to day. I use a thin case for work, and I use no case at home.
Here's my review to keep things together and in one place
First off the case itself looks fantastic, perhaps a little light on my black phone but that is personal preference, because it is actually protective and not just a thing clean skin it does show and lightens the color overall. That said the design is good and actually looks nice, it has raised edges that are opaque that will help prevent the rest of the case from scratching and keep its looks.
I actually spent a good five days with the case before writing my review to see how it held up and I am very happy with it so far, I am likely going to keep it on for at least another week and then update this review, of course it may stay on longer than that but I often switch up cases so we will see. The ease of pushing buttons even compared to my Tech 21 case is very impressive.
Pros:
The buttons are very responsive, much more so than the other cases I have tried.
The amount of grip the case adds is great, yet it still slide in and out of my pocket easily.
It will draw looks, the phone already does on its own and this case mostly highlights its features.
Cons:
It would look better on a white note than a black one.
Nothing else I have found so far.
Yeah, received mine yesterday so opinion may change, but here it goes for my initial review.
So far this is one of my top favorite cases that I have. Not nearly as slippery as the Obliq Case that I ordered. The only thing I miss, and this is personal opinion, is a built in kickstand, but I also realize that can add a little on the cost. Either way though the flow and the grip of the case work fairly well.
Pros:
Less slick than the clear Obliq case which is nice considering the other one would just slide right on out of your pocket.
Has nice grip on the sides and the buttons work nicely as well.
Like the clear case with black
Cutouts are where they should be and work just fine
Cons:
None really, maybe a slight concern on being able to see any and all scratches the case gets, but that is what cases are for
One of the best
Here is my review of this case as well copied from Amazon after using the case for the past week.
This is one of the best cases I have used so far for the Note 5, and I have tried/used a lot of them.
Pros:
1. Protective without adding much bulk
2. Cut out for S Pen is perfect
3. Adds much needed grip to a slippery phone
4. Lets the beauty of the phone show through
Cons:
1. Hole cutouts for the speaker holes don't line up perfectly
This case really is a nice one, and for the price, you are getting a great case. I have the clear/black case, and really like the style that it adds to the phone. I have a slickwraps skin on the back of the phone, and it shows through nicely thanks to this design. I absolutely love the little grip edges that they put on this case. It maintains comfort in the hand, while adding some much needed grip. The cut out for the S-pen is ample and makes it very easy to press the clicking mechanism to get the pen out. What makes this case protective is what Poetic has done here with the corners of the case. The corners are nicely reinforced, and should provide some nice shock protection to the phone if it is ever dropped (I hope mine never is, but it is nice to have the protection.) The only real con I could find with this case is that for some reason, Poetic decided to make individual hole cutouts for the speaker section of the phone. For whatever reason though, those holes in the case do not line up with the speaker holes themselves and are off set from each other. Maybe Poetic should have just had one large cutout here for the speaker. Despite that mis-alignment however, the case does not seem to impede the sound at all.
Overall this case is a big win and I highly recommend it.
Disclaimer: I was provided this case by the manufacturer for review at no cost. However, this has not influenced my review in the slightest, and I do still highly recommend it.
How much actual width does it add to the device? I'm looking to get a Qi cradle for my car and need to know if it will work with this case on.
Someone give it a quick measure for me, please? Thanks in advance!
t.
I sent mine back, scratches just looking at the thing. Really a shame because I actually liked the case.
