Getting Themed Apps into Android M - Nexus 6 Themes and Apps

I am certain many of you have taken the plunge into Android M, and I think the latest revision is worthy of daily driver status...
I for one was reticent to stay on it for extended periods, mostly because of the trade-offs involved with the scores of feature rich, mature 5.1.1 roms on the one hand, and the comparatively stock experience inherent with a new operating system...
Then there is the ever-present desire on my part to run themed apps, be they hard coded, or stock variants that can be fully themed with either a theme engine overlay or layer...to me, white UIs should simply be illegal.
But as I have come to use the latest M, I have found it to be a joy to use. This was made certain thanks to the hard work of Team BlackOut (Bryan, Andrew, Patrick, Kevin) and @daveyannihilation, whom have brought us themable versions of apps I regularly use.
So, with Android M having what seems to be system wide Runtime Resources Overlays (Sony's contribution to Android, RRO), we have a superb slate with which to work.
So with that out of the way, here is my current approach to getting Android M running the way I like...
Hard Coded Themed and Themable Apps
These are always perfect...either perfectly coded or ready for a good theme.
Team BlackOut and Davey Wilson have given us with their latest themable Gapps versions of...
Gmail
Google Plus
Hangouts
YouTube
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347798131
Thyrus has provided his flashable add-on for his themes, and these include:
Clock
Calendar
Google Messenger
Hangouts
Play Store
Google App/Google Now
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=profile&uid=95784891001616222
And Team BlackOut has given us hard coded versions of a plethora of other apps, including Play Music, Play Store, Google App...the list is endless (check the TBO updater app for details).
To get any of these onto your device and running properly, they must remain in the system partition...
So, to attain that, here is what I suggest you do...keeping in mind that this assumes you're running one of the latest preview M builds...
1. Download one or more of the above referenced zips
2. Unzip the file and its contents
3. Now, we're going to be pushing these apps to the existing location on M, and leaving what remains intact...here's where this gets a little less intuitive...
3.1. Straight Apk Swaps...
In this first example, I'm replacing the stock clock with the one from Thyrus...
Using Root Explorer, go to system, app on the left pane, and the location where you unzipped the package from Thyrus on the right...
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
As you can see, the file names are different, but the packages are interchangeable...so, I moved the stock M version in system to a safe location on my internal memory, renamed the one from Thyrus, pushed it to system, app, set permissions to 0644, and left the Odex subfolder and its contents intact...
And the final outcome...
3.2. Movement of Files with Library Files
In the M version of Google Plus, Hangouts, Google App/Now, YouTube, and a few others have only the apk, whereas the themable version has both...so, to get these to work without crashing on you, you'll need to push both the library files and the apk from the zip (either the themable version or the hard coded one)...
Using Root Explorer, go to system, app in the left pane, and the source zip in the right...
You'll note that the stock Google Plus included in the M Preview has no library files...you'll need to push those to system in order to get the themable version working...again, leaving the oates subdirectory and Odex file alone...
Copy the entire folder labeled "lib" from the themable zip to system, app, PlusOne, then set permissions for the new folders to 0755, and for the library files to 0644...
First, copy the folder, then set folder permissions...hard press on the folder name, and choose "permissions" from the popup list...
Then change folder permissions for both the "lib" and "arm" folders, as below...
That should do it.
Now, Google Plus will look amazing...i personally love the Material Glass theme for this app
As will Hangouts, and so many others...
4. Odds and Ends...
4.1. Tethering, seems to be a hit or miss proposition...no worries, using SQLite, make sure tether provisioning is set to zero...in the latest JDX rom (3.01), it was not...
Open the app, then go to settings storage, settings.db, global, then look for the line that reads "tether_dun_required." It wasn't there for me...so I added it...by hitting the plus sign in the top right...
4.2. 4x1 Reboot Menu, a few quick replacement apps, such as Quick Boot, Power Toggles, Material Power Menu (for light ui material design enthusiasts...thanks to @Kris Nelson for the tip), and you'll have this immediately...
Link to Quick Boot...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.siriusapplications.quickboot
And Power Toggles...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
Link to Material Power Menu...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.naman14.powermenu
4.3. Apps That Oddly Work...
4.3.1. Clear Calculator, hard coded...this one's crazy...
@Train88 made this 6 months ago, for Android 5.01, and it still works on M...even with the intact Odex file....just rename to CalculatorGoogle.apk, push to system, app, set permissions and reboot...
Train's Clear Calculator
4.3.2. AOSP Themable Mms, from @daveyannihilation...
This one is so simple and yet surprises.
xda Recognized Themer and Forum Specific Moderator @daveyannihilation made a themable Mms for Android 5.1...and it works on M...for this to fully function, do the following...
Flash the zip,
https://www.dropbox.com/s/6fu7swsbgo1lyma/ThemeableMms.zip?dl=0
Now grab Davey's TRDS Layer from the play store...
Free version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bitsykolayers.trds
Donation Version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bitsykolayers.trdsdonate
(hint, the donate version is 4.35x more cool.)
This is by many measures superior to Google Messenger...it's 1/5 the size with 5x the features, including the ability to add a signature, attachments from multiple sources at the touch of the attachment button, full timestamps, and many other options.
Thanks to xda Recognized Contributor @jrbxx7 for the tip.
4.3.3. AOSP Keyboard
Notice that the Google keyboard lacks symbols when hard pressing on the regular letters, and miss the AOSP variant?
No problem. Xda Recognized Contributor @Kris Nelson pointed out that you can easily gain it back...
Hie yourself to this link, and download the file from @Shaftamle...
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161892653
Navigate to where you downloaded the file, add the letters "apk" and a period to the filename, and tap to install, like a regular apk.
4.3.4. Some have found that the navbar remains unthemed, though a few do work, including this one...
https://www.dropbox.com/s/69tg5xgal9bhfpm/vmaterial-nexus-navbar.apk?dl=0
And this one,
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4pv3v31g8r3yusf/Nexus-softkeyz.apk?dl=0
I hope to grow this list, especially as mods get on the grid...I would love to have a volume wake mod, and some others.
One final note...Please BUY premium apps, etc...like Root Explorer, SQLite, and of course, your favorite themes...it is a terrific way to show support to the dev, and it's usually less than you'll spend at Starbucks.
I hope this helps.
Happy flashing!

Lol...it's a Power Toggles widget...
Download this free app...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
Place a standard, one row widget on your homesreen, and it'll take you to the edit widget menu...
From there, tap the toggles you won't use, and tap remove...use the slider to change the order...
Now add a toggle from the root cluster, entitled "shutdown menu."
From there you can change the background transparency, toggle on, off and dormant colors, size, etc, and even save it...
As you can see from my homescreen, I've got 2 rows of them for the toggles I use most often...
Now get something to eat!

@micmars thanks! Damn I haven't used widgets in years...just giving you a screenshot of what you gave me the power to do. For a hint the power menu/reboot widget is the little Marshmallow "M" above the bigger Marshmallow on the stick...tried my best to hide it since I really dislike widgets cluttering up my basic home screen.

Yer, uncluttered homescreen is nice...thankfully Power Toggles allows you to assign an image or some other visual element to keep it relatively unobtrusive and still easy to access...

I'm unclear if just any AOSP keyboard will work, but if you have an Odex AOSP rom, you may be able to push that to system, app to get it working...the challenge here being that most all AOSP roms I've seen are DeOdex.

Are you looking for the one with the long press symbols? If so, this one works.. At least on JDX M ROM... After installing, just add .apk extension to the file name and install per usual.

find it, don't hesitate to ask. There are other users here willing to help you. Feel free to comment in this thread or send me a PM
if you feel the thread needs an update on any of the steps.
After initial setup you can personalize your settings some more. The first thing you're going to wanna edit is the Layout
- The grid size: If you're familiar with LauncherPro or ADW you should know that grid sizes determines how the screen will look.
WidgetLocker allows for up to 10x10 grid. Try it out and see what you like best. The grid size also changes the way themes look.
You can think of it like changing your density, unless you use the anchor. It will automatically resize the theme to the appropriate
size. It doesn't work in landscape mode, though.
- The wallpaper: The issue is that the system can only have one wallpaper and it's shared globally. So WidgetLocker's custom
wallpapers are just images that WidgetLocker displays as a background. The best fix for this might be for WidgetLocker to let you select
a file, using gallery or astro or whatever, and then have WidgetLocker do the cropping itself. This way it gets the actual image and can still
crop it or scale it down (sanely) to avoid using so much memory, but can be done without banding. If you want to do it manually in the mean
time and are rooted you can replace WidgetLocker's /data/data/com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker/files/wallpaper.png with your own. Just make
sure the resolution matches your phones. Then disable/reenable WidgetLocker to get it to reload.
- Installing a custom slider: Since WidgetLocker 2.0 custom themes are supported and come in the .wltheme.zip format. This means you can
open it and your phone will prompt you to Install and Add the theme. The themes are saved on your SD card (/data/com.widgetlocker.teslacoilsw/themes).
You can also copy the theme.wltheme.zip to the folder on your SD card. Naturally the theme will be unavailable once your SD card is mounted to a
computer or something similar. It will return to normal once you unmount it again. You add the themes you've installed by longpressing the screen and
choose Custom Slider. There you can do even further settings, like slide from right to left. If not you simply press "Add".
- Advanced settings: You can use Root Helper to avoid seeing the standard Android lockscreen if you have root. This is not something the developer of
WidgetLocker can do anything about. Check the information found in the application regarding root and standard lockscreen. An alternative is downloading
NoLock from the Market. If you've got root and a custom ROM loaded you can probably disable the lockscreen under Power Settings.
1) Create a new document.
The height of the slider is 150 - but we're going to add two extra pixels. WidgetLocker uses _3.png which allows for up and downsizing of the sliders. That means the
themes can be used with basically any device, ranging from HTC Wildfire to the Motorola Xoom. It's still not a hundred percent - but it's a hell of a lot better than the
old way of theming. More on _3.png in the next step
2) The black pixel (_3.png)
As you can see in the image below I've added a 1x1 pixel on the very top of my image. You can either zoom in a couple of times or create a smallest box you possibly
can in full view. The pixel has to be 1x1 if not it'll be shown in the theme. Which doesn't look good. In the picture below I'm zoomed in at 200 % (I think).
Continue making your design.
3) The slider
The actual size of the slider you can change around just as much as the background. I usually go with the same height, that way aligning the slider and background seems
easier. This is pretty self explanatory, see the below image.
Continue making your design.
This is what you want your themes folder to look like. The slider_right is fully transparent. There's no need to actually make it transparent. If your background doesn't contain
any text you can include a second arrow (like above) but the other way so other users can choose themselves if the want to slide left or right. (Protip)
Then finally .zip the themes-folder!

Themes:
The image heights don't allow sliders to appear on the very bottom of screen. This goes especially for the iphone themes. The slider
and background height don't look the same height no matter what I try in Photoshop. There are other users that are reporting this; Is it a user issue
or something that should be addressed?
It's my fault for poor examples and documentation, but can be handled by themers. I should've made the default iPhone background 152px tall so themers
would know to keep that, but didn't. Themes assume HDPI, so one standard slider row is 150px tall. Three Patch images have the 1 pixel border on all sides,
so a 152px tall background will perfectly fill out one standard row. WidgetLocker will scale/stretch the image if the row size is different. I've attached an ugly
iPhone theme to demonstrate.
Same idea for the sense slider, it defaults to two rows, so 300px background, no need for the 2 extra pixels since it's not a three patch.
Is there a possibility to disable the Sense clock?
I'll add this soon. Not 2.0.1, but probably 2.0.2.
Wishes:
More ways to unlock the screen! It'd be great if we could make a slider like the one attached. That'd be freaking awesome to be honest with you.
That's something people have even have been sending me PMs about!
I think the attached could be done, remove the Anchor then resize an iPhone slider to be vertical. But the theme would like kind of funny horizontally since WL
rotates the other direction.
I'm definitely planning on some more unlock methods. HoneyComb for sure, possibly something like MIUI, and maybe the Samsung puzzle unlock as well as the Samsung
sweep glass (Which is kind of similar to that WP7 one, except for the transparent part.
Android 2.1 and 2.3, but not 2.2, could handle transparent WidgetLocker pretty easily, 2.2 has some bug where lock screen interactions are difficult for a transparent activity.
I can work around it, but it's a pain since most of my users are on 2.2. But it's on my radar.

My guess is most people won't sign their .apk after applying the images.
Unless they use the APK Manager-step in the 'tutorial' of course.

I'm a little unsure, but seeing as non-ROOTED users are pulling their .apks and pushing them back I'm guessing root isn't necessary to pull the app from /data.
If it were located in /system I'm sure you would need root in order to pull it.
Root Explorer allows you to explore the 'locked down' parts of your phone. You cannot access /data with normal file browsers.
But regardless; Without root you can pull the .apk using your computer.
If it's gonna work when you push it back is the bigger question.
You can backup application
There's a little confusion here about rooting.
Allow me to clear it up.
I'm not rooted. But I don't purchase apk files from the Market.
I download them all. So I originally have the apk files on my computer.
I then run the APK Manager and go from there, then put the signed apk file on my SD card, use Astro to install it and voila.

Ok, finally got my theme ported into 3.1.5. I'll admit that this hasn't been real thoroughly tested, but so far so good for me. The themes are almost exactly like before...it's not identical, but it would be very hard to tell the small changes that were made. Still hdpi only.

Originally I hadn't intended on theming the new market, but I was asked by another member to help him with his and in the process of trying to help I started tinkering with it myself. The layout of this app doesn't lend itself well to a transparent theme, but it did turn out much better than I expected.
One of the aspects that I knew I wanted to keep if I ever did anything was the color coordination of the different product groups. I think that added a nice touch to the app. This actually made things somewhat difficult, and I had to venture into the land of smali edits (not my strong suit). However, I did reuse my newer buttons from the last market so many of them are blue, and the progressbar that I've integrated into the app is blue. The progressbars are ONLY IN THIS APP, it doesn't affect anything else on your phone.
**This looks best over darker wallpapers. The text colors are designed as such**

yeah, the change in the keyboard is pretty subtle. The only things that will change with LatinIME.apk are mainly going to be the suggested words that appear as you type, and the popup box when you hold down certain keys will have a blue ring around the letter. The space bar's highlight when suggestion popop and the caps lock light are blue, too. The other stuff you're talking about is actually going to be in framework-res.
I've been tinkering around with blue theming for a while now, and the keyboard is just part of that WIP. But since it's a 2.3 keyboard I thought I'd throw it in as well. The market, though works well on it's own or in conjunction with a blue theme.

Did you try wiping caches too? There's been mixed results in most of these Market threads from what I've seen. Some don't see the change, others have no issues at all. That's the whole reason I included the plain apk. I know some folks have com.android.vending-2.apk. It's the same file, just named different.
I've not done much theming outside of framework-res so please forgive me for not having an exact answer for you. Hopefully someone with a little more experience than me-particularly with theming system apks-will step in and offer some advice.
The apk is good, though for sure. Way too many people rocking it out right now for it to not be. Just gotta find out what small difference makes it not apply to some.

Hello fellow Nexus brethren
I know there's already a couple of these market threads, but I'm pretty sure none are themed quite like mine. I'm not a present N-S owner, but since we're related and all....I figure it's ok Pretty much every png has been changed.
A quick screenshot:
I'll have to defer to you all as to what the best way to install this is, so I've got a couple options. First the link below is a regular flash.zip installer that will mount system, and flash Vending.apk to /system/app. Also in the attachment section at the bottom is the the Vending.apk file itself.
DOWNLOAD
Market-2.2.7-PB-signed.zip
I've also got my lightly themed keyboard. This won't affect the text you see in the subject field, but does have the blue text in the suggestion area:
The link is a flash.zip that will mount system, and place LatinIME.apk in /system/app and a lib file in /system/lib. In the attachment section is a zip that contains just apk and lib file.
DOWNLOAD
Gingerbread_kb-PB-signed.zip

Probably not too hard I'd say. I'd just try to run a batch edit to make them all the same color. I probably won't be able to get to it tonight, as I'm swamped right now. I'll post when I have something...was this file able to work for you ok though?
Market Update:
Ok, so this is pretty popular I guess, judging by my inbox, lol. I've been helping a Nexus S owner in his transition from the N1 and he just discovered something....He was previously unable to get the flash to work (I just found out that the phone's odexed ) But he flashed the cyanogen alpha and the update flashed just fine. No problems. He did have to mount the system first in the recovery menu prior to flashing but it took just fine.
So there's one way to try if you're interested.
Thanks!

How did you install? I've tried flashing and also pushing to system/app via Root Explorer and still can't get it to install :-\
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Thanks for posting Chris. Got your message btw
@allareconnected,
I mentioned this in the above post, but for him it was critical that he actually mount the system in the recovery menu in order for it to take. Skipping that step prevented the flash from taking, even though there was no error.
I'm still a little confused as to why he needs to do this, since 1) the script in the zip has a mount system command, and 2) never had to do this with any other phone. I suppose it's possible that I missed something during the rooting process as I kinda helped him with that a little.
In any case, I'd think that pushing via root explorer would work fine as well.
I did have an issue earlier myself that was self inflicted (most of mine are, lol), but I kept getting a permissions FC. The way I ended up resolving the problem was by reinstalling a previous market (v1.82) that was in a gapps.zip from I downloaded in clockwork. After installing it, I rebooted into recovery and wiped cache and dalvik, then flashed my 2.2.7 and has been perfect all day. Even in miui.
If your having problems installing this, and you have the latest "new" market installed. Go to settings/applications/manage applications/all and find market, click it and choose uninstall updates.
After that, it should revert to this blue themed market
Did this for T-Mo Vibrant
@pendo, love this Market, works well on the SGS, but would it be possible to make a green themed one with your icons/images etc? That would be awesome Anyway great themed Market, and keyboard, keep it up!
New Market looks and works good here. CM7, pushed the Vending.apk with adb.
how can i get your whole blue theme, for the notification bar as well as the market

[APPS][5/23] Collection of TW Mods/Improved TW Experience (Landscape added!)

Felt like toying around with TouchWiz apps and felt like sharing a few mods of mine. Download the desired apks and place em in your /system/app folder by your method of choice.
All Apps are for FROYO, so only use em if you are on DL30/EB01 or any other Galaxy S Froyo ROM if perchance you aren't a Fascinate user.
Enjoy.
TouchWiz Launcher
-------------------------------------
Based off of GTG's mod of TouchWiz, seeing that in his post he gave up the project, just felt like toying around with it, more versions perhaps to come in the future.
Features
Page-Indicator - Placed on the bottom of the screen similar to TW 4.0, I like using them to zip around homescreens and being the bottom is much more accessible than reaching top. Also fixed their touch area, by default they're biased to the left and it becomes apparent when you space em out more.
Completely removed colored BG images - The BG images that go behind apps in the app drawer, rather than just making them invisible .pngs, completely edited them out of the smali code. I think this is why my App Drawer animations are smoother than GTGs. Will probably upload a version with them later.
Fixed Touch Sensitivity - One of my major issues with GTG's Launchers, they had a lot of bias towards scrolling left and right on homescreens, making TW's scrolling apps a pain to use.
Cleaned up Dock - App titles no longer show up in the Dock and I lowered down the dock both due to the lack of text, and to make space for lower Page-Indicators.
Bunch of minor stuff
3/18 UPDATE
I've finally completed it, after many hours of hard work, frustration at many force closes and force restarts, I bring you my Ultimate Version. This is the base version that will be updated and built upon as future mods come out.
Fixed Force Close Issues - Renaming folders and using Alphabetical List Drawer now work
Removed all lag/stuttering - In GTG Launcher, as was in my older versions, when using 16-bit disabled mode, when in the app drawer if you scrolled fast or pinched you would experience lots of stuttering. I've resolved this issue and now it performs as smooth and responsive as it should be.
Reintegrated Badges - The notification badges for text messages and e-mails (when using TW e-mail) now work. I've also got ALL notifications working, but it requires an add-on app, which I'm still working on and will upload later.
SUB MENU FOR OPTIONS!
The last note is a biggy. When you push the menu soft-key you'll notice that "Search" has been replaced with "Options".

Try 'em out, pretty self-explanatory, though I'll go a bit in detail on 16-bit mode. 16-bit mode trades image quality for speed, however on/off makes no difference in RAM usage, so it's purely a cosmetic difference. In GTG there was a big difference due to the stuttering in the high image quality version, there is no more stuttering, but animations are still smoother in "Speed" mode. "Speed" mode does not work with Live Wallpapers, I've tried before and weird things happen, if you turn on a Live Wallpaper while on "Speed" it'll switch to "Quality". Here are comparison pics so you can see the difference. Some color, but mostly translucency that gets ruined, I personally prefer Quality (which is the default in stock launcher), but hey I give you the freedom of choice.
Speed vs Quality
Expect more options to appear in future versions. Have at it, enjoy my hard work.
ULTIMATE Version rev.1:http://www.mediafire.com/?x8namgc8jf3blua
ULTIMATE Version rev.1 LANDSCAPE ENABLED:http://www.mediafire.com/?2vrorbl2nxay11k
NOTE: I just noticed, the App Drawer in Landscape mode is messed up, Landscape mode is from the Galaxy Tab TouchWiz, so it's trying to use those dimensions, so I am aware of this issue. Homescreens are fine.
Old Versions for educational/curiosity sake:
Original Version:http://www.mediafire.com/?308vib8szt6ia30
5x4 No Dot Version: http://www.mediafire.com/?l1ps5llggf2ab1c
5x4 Dot Version: http://www.mediafire.com/?ki2m9e7borbmw0d
Probably more stuff to come later.
Music Player
--------------------------------------
I noticed a request to turn off the "Low Battery" interruption of the Music Player, and here it is. Have at it, stock music player that you can continue to listen to when below 10% battery.
http://www.mediafire.com/?b233b7rxc97h2w0
BuddiesNow
---------------------------------
This is the Vibrant's BuddiesNow app, I like it much more than Fascinate's. In addition to the RollerDex view that we have, they also have a Grid View which is much better for accessing contacts and viewing notifications regarding them.
Sped up the Bubble Pop-Up considerably.
Fixed Force-Close errors when not using Vibrant's Contacts apps when checking Missed Call. If you notice any other Force-Closes, let me know and I'll fix it up. This fix is for non-Vibrant users, so if you are on Vibrant, this sped up BuddiesNow may force-close on missed call check.

WeatherClock (Accuweather and improved versions to come later)
---------------------------------
I'm personally a fan of Analog Clocks, and I like the weather clock included in touchwiz. What I don't like is that the weather clock does not have a shortcut to the clock app. So here you are, a simple mod that redirects touching the clock to opening the clock app, if you want to view the weather detail view, that's been redirected to the "weatherbug" text at the bottom of the widget (and from within that view you can touch "weatherbug" to bring up the browser link that used to exist on the widget).
There are 3 versions:
Redirect to Touchwiz Clockpackage.http://www.mediafire.com/?go2dc0ezhvew7re
Redirect to AOSP Deskclock.http://www.mediafire.com/?42j315aazb7aa9b
Redirect straight to Alarm of AOSP Deskclock.http://www.mediafire.com/?cabchmb6bwbnmea

Very nice work. This might be a stupid question, but is there anyway to get some of the widgets, such as Buddies Now to work in Launcher Pro, or are they specifically linked to TouchWiz?

Well actually, whether the dots are permanent or not is a feature of unmodified TWs, like the Eu i9000 always has theirs there, while for fascinate and the Mesmerize's TW, they disappear over time. The smali code I'm using does not have the functions to hide them over time.
If you like the center app icon, it's a pretty simple change. Take your desired GTG apk and open it with 7-zip or your choice of zip opener. Go to res/drawable-hdpi and replace "mainmenu_icon_application.png" with the one found in mine or any stock TWlauncher.

TouchWiz Launcher actually does show Bubble Notifications like what you describe, problem is you need the right TouchWiz30Launcher.apk and BadgeProvider.apk combination. This TouchWiz30Launcher doesn't seem to work with the BadgeProvider that comes with the Fascinate, I'm trying to find out which one does and when I do I'll upload the right BadgeProvider. Or, I'll try changing the code and see if it works...

[Theme]CM7 (and others?) morph (Updated 7/15)

Currently nothing is here to download since I'm waiting on feedback if anyone wants to use this on the O2x. If you do, just ask
See my G2x thread for a general.zip that "should" work on every rom.
Roms This is Confirmed to Work On.
CM7
Things to know
1) This comes from my pickings of different Themes & .pngs I've found. I haven't created any of the artwork. As stated above, I've been doing this for my phone. If you find a better icon, post a link and if I like it better, I'll add it.
2) I am not responsible if this breaks your phone. Make a backup first.
3) If you use LauncherPro Notifications & Preferences under the main menu are still grey (See 4th pic below) because these are controlled by LauncherPro, and if I edit that .apk LauncherPro Plus doesn't work <_<
4) The eye background is not included, but is attached to this post.
5) I don't recommend trying to use Metamorph with this. So far I haven't got it to work fully for some reason, but it works perfectly well with ZipThemer. Plus this themes files that will cause a FC loop with Metamorph.
6) If you want to use the clear Lockscreen that is in the last photo you must go to CM settings and select the "Rotary" style, I did this on purpose b/c some people would rather use the "Rotary Revamped" style.
What currently has changes
Framework-res.apk............. Vending.apk (Market) (Taking this out in the next update)
Settings.apk...........................Phone.apk
SystemUI.apk........................Contacts.apk

7/15 Updated BatteryMod and ColorizedTheme files, changed the charging indicators around for a smoother animation. Added new image for the screenshot function (not my favorite, yes I know it’s shifted, but it’ll work for now). Added new fonts, if you don’t like them then download the droidsans.zip below and push them to your phone. Removed the dark themed market so it doesn’t override the new market. Bootanimation copy still doesn’t work. Been working a lot on a steampunk theme, between that and school I haven’t been working on this much.
6/17/11 Added Metamorph capabilities. Recommend using ZipThemer.

I'm sorry you're having issues! Everything should work as I just change the nightly image files around. The wallpaper isn't actually included but I'll attach it to the main thread for you. I've never used root explorer, I either manually do a

adb push Vending.apk /system/app/
or I use Android Commander to drag and drop. I'm sure you did, but did you try fix_permissions and reboot? I haven't heard of anyone else having issues, not that I'm saying you're not, just haven't heard of these yet.

i worked all day adjusting and reading and fixing. downloaded the launcher pro then removed ithe ADWL " or whatever its called " now my phone is super smooth.
as for the wallpaper. yes please put it as external link here. its very nice.
my question i want to ask you. later on when you release a new version. how can i apply it without deleting all my settings and everything ? just install the update.zip without full wipe ?
Also. just a suggestion. the dailer colors are kinda out of place " not classy as the rest of the nice colors u added" if i were you. i would change it back to normal " the dailer only "
everything else is superp. i never wanted to install CM because like u. i hate black and white. you just made it awesome. so i give you a thank you for your hard work
Interesting thoughts on the dialer. I'll see if there is a non-neon way to go with that when I have time. Thanks for the feedback. As far as your wipe question, I haven't done a full wipe in well over a month and I flash every nightly. CM nightlies do not require a wipe usually from one to the next. Issues are usually fixed by wiping the cache and davlik cache before installing and then doing a fix_permissions afterwords. Oh and don't forget to check the MD5, I've had a few people pm me about bad downloads. And the wallpaper has been attached to my CM Forums post.

A look at things to come I'm trying to find a good animation to put there, so far it's the flames. But we'll see.

I think you should post it in Android Development. You would get alot more traffic there. And technically, it IS a ROM

Technically it is a bit of a kang, but I don't think it fully meets the kang criteria. I download the builds from the CM servers, not compile it on my own. That and I'm working towards a flashable zip to flash on top of the nightly. And then eventually a theme chooser app. But that is a bit off from now. I have a lot of free time in August, I'll learn more about it then. When I get the update.zip figured out I'll move to that soon. And like I said, I started by just adding color for myself and decided to share; not really worried about huge traffic numbers. But thanks for the suggestion

Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA Premium App
I don't think it's going to screw things up, I think it'll actually help both me and anyone who wants to use it. Because right now if you want to use my theme you have to wait on me to download a nightly, pull it apart, theme it, then re-upload it. And unfortunately I just don't have the time during the week to do this every night. All this will be is a zip file you flash after you download the nightly from wherever. This allows me to have a few different files uploaded so people can use different dialers, just the lockscreen, etc. It also allows me to use what time I take to mess with each nightly to work towards the notification pull-down bar animation. And it's going to allow me to work on a steampunk another theme I have an idea I have floating in my head. I'm not going to implement this if it doesn't work, but basically I'm doing this to give me more time for different stuff, not to abandon this theme.
Will probably go back to the displaying battery % every 5% for this ZipTheme plan. Starting to become a pain in the ass.

NOTES
1. Things change quickly with this ROM and I am a space cadet, so the OP has this nasty habit of sometimes being inaccurate. I try to update it as quickly as possible, but sometimes I forget, so be sure to read the last few pages of posts for status updates, ROM links, and other stuff that will be useful and time-saving.
2. This is a beta until further notice. The ROM is fairly stable and definitely better than others I've used, but because MIUI is based on 4.2.2 Sense and the Sprint One doesn't have an actual 4.2.2 Sense ROM, we are basically making a port using another port.
3. That being said, there is a very slight chance that flashing a test build could temporarily bork your data. I test everything I upload, but because of nature of the ROM, there is always the possibility for unseen consequences. Don't fear though, it can be fixed. All you have to do is download and flash CM10.2. Let it boot, and 90% of the time your data will be fixed. If that still doesn't work, flash a stock Sense ROM, and do a scrtn reset. That's it. It's highly unlikely that this will happen to you, but if it does, don't say I didn't tell you so.
4. Please post logcats and detailed descriptions of issues that can't be easily replicated. These two factors make all the difference between me providing a quick and helpful response and completely ignoring you.
5. The custom installer is still a WIP. You may experience weirdness when extracting xtra and base packages yet, so if prompted to install them, don't do so at this time.

What is MIUI?
Well, the short answer is that MIUI is a custom ROM for Android that totally kicks ass.
The slightly longer answer is that MIUI is a custom ROM for Android created by a Chinese company called Xiaomi...and it totally kicks ass. It boasts an array of custom apps that are both unique and powerful. Due to the way MIUI is created, it also allows for it to retain features of the original ROM it was based on - in this instance, Sense 5.
It also has a custom theme engine that is limited only by the efforts of the themer, a custom security center that rivals third party software, and meticulous attention to detail throughout the ROM.
But really, a few paragraphs don't do it justice...so I took some screenshots. Here goes...
NOTE:
In writing this, I found myself frequently wanting to add in "EVERYTHING YOU SEE CAN BE THEMED TO LOOK COMPLETELY DIFFERENT."
I can't stress this enough. Every theme adds something different to MIUI, and you can mix and match elements of themes, so there is really no limit to what YOUR Miui looks like. But, instead of offering this information in every section below, I thought it would just be easier to say it once in all caps.
Xiaomi Account:
One of the things you'll notice in using MIUI is how ingrained the Xiaomi account has become. It's not mandatory, but having one will allow you to take full advantage of the features of MIUI.
By creating and using you Xiaomi account, you will have access to Cloud Backups of photos, your applications, messaging, theme purchases, as well as the MIUI Market, Video Center, and Game app.
Think of it like the Chinese version of Google.
MiHome Launcher:
At a glance, the MiHome Launcher looks a lot like IOS. The default theme uses the same kind of colorful, squarish icons, and there is no app drawer.
Icons in the launcher can be grouped into any number of folders, and the folder names can be customized.
The launcher can feature an unlimited number of pages, and each page can have both icons and widgets. The ROM includes a number of MIUI-specific widgets, as well as allowing HTC and 3rd party widgets with ease.
Widgets can also be resized as in other ROMS.
Lockscreen:
The basic MIUI Lockscreen is both simple and powerful. Like other android ROMS, it can be configured to unlock via slide, pin, facelock, or pattern.
The stock Lockscreen offers options to unlock, open dialer, open SMS, or go to camera.
Additionally, pressing the "home" button while on the lockscreen will enable the torch app for quick access to a flashlight.
When playing music, the lockscreen buttons show media controls, and with the screen off, the volume buttons can optionally control track skipping.
It should be noted that the media controls work for ALL media apps, not just the stock music player.
Themes:
As I've mentioned a number of times...one of the coolest things about MIUI is the theme engine. While some other ROMS either come pre-themed or have a limited theme engine, MIUI offers a powerful theme system that can go as far as to customize third-party applications like Gmail and the Play store (as two examples).
Additionally, the theme system for the lockscreen is incredibly powerful, allowing complex programming and features provided by other applications. A great example of this is TheNest, which actually features it's own customization menu to allow complete control of what background and text is displayed.
The theme engine has it's own online market, which features hundreds of themes ready for download. There are both paid and free themes, and a lot of them are simply stunning.
Now, I could write paragraphs alone about all the neat things you get by flipping themes in MIUI, but I've got a lot more ground to cover, so rest assured it's pretty badass.
Phone/Contacts:
While the dialer, contacts, and director apps all have separate icons, they all function as one app. It looks simple on the surface, but is actually very powerful.
The dialer features T9 lookup, and because this is a Sense-based ROM, it also allows some EPST codes.
Contacts can either be stored locally, in an Xiaomi account, as a Google contact, or as an outlook or email contact.
The dialer has features to merge duplicate contacts, blacklist by number or name, import/export of contacts, and auto organization. It allows support for HD/fullscreen contact images, auto-creates "favorite" contacts based on frequently used numbers, and will even generate a text-based image if a number has a stored name but no image.
And as a neat little weird aside, you can also change the dialer tone to piano notes. Not especially useful, but very fun.
SMS/Messaging:
The SMS app is fairly straightforward, but also offers a few unique features for a "stock" messaging app.
As was mentioned previously, if using an Xiaomi account, MIUI supports cloud messaging, similarly to how Google Voice or Hangouts works. In addition to sending messages over Wifi, you can choose to have everything backed up to your midrive, which you can then review online.
The messaging app supports group messaging, delivery report requests/notifications, lockscreen/status bar preview of messages, and quick contacts when selecting recipients. You can also send quick responses, messages timed to send at a specific time, and automatically take messages from service providers and roll it up into one message.
Additionally, one of my favorite features is the message popup function. When a text is received, a floating window will appear and you can respond to the text without having to stop what you're doing.
Music:
The music app is both beautiful and powerful. The onboard media scanner will automatically find and index all music files on the SD Card, and you customize a filesize for tracks to ignore as songs.
The is also an online lyric lookup feature, and a whole online section where you can listen to mostly chinese music...but there's also a neat FM thing that I've never used.
The player has it's own widget, as well as native display for now playing songs in the status bar and lockscreen. I think there's a visualizer too.
Clock, Compass, Calculator, Sound Recorder, and Notes Apps:
Not to detract from some more incredibly beautiful MIUI Apps, I'm going to provide a few screenshots and a brief description of each app, as they're all fairly straightforward.
The clock features four sections - alarms, stopwatch, timer and time. Alarms can be set as needed, and can either repeat or be once-only, or only go off on specific days. You know...like an alarm. Stopwatch is a stopwatch, timer is a timer, and in the time section you can specify any number of time zones to display the current time of.
The compass displays magnetic north and the current latitude longitude.
The calculator has both basic and scientific functions, with the scientific section featuring the most commonly used algebraic symbols and functions.
The sound recorder does just that...records stuff. Very simple, yet pretty.
The notes app is used to create notes which can have attached photos or video, and can also be set to open with an alarm. You can also "stick" the notes to the desktop using a widget app.
This one too

Yes. Wipe data/factory reset, then flash.
Thank you for this So its is 4.2.2 based and not 4.3? Do you think we will get a build running 4.3 or 4.4 later in life?!
Is this allowed ? Miui for HTC One is under closed beta

Hard to say. I haven't heard of a 4.3 MIUI yet, although I *think* they're about due to release V6 soon. Considering we have a new/popular device with an official 4.3 (and soon 4.4) ROM, it's possible.

I asked meridithian, and she said to create a thread in the EN porting section. I assumed it was OK as it's not the full MIUI ROM and I released on official site.
Got a failed get prop. Something of that sort failed to flash. Coming from renovate Rom I wiped 3 times.
