Hi,
I have a T-Mobile LG G Flex that used to be rooted and after android system update now it doesn't have root access. Here's the thing: I ran TowelRoot and it displayed the following message: "This device isn't supported". Afterwards I downloaded and installed StumpRoot and when I run the app it displays a message saying: "Device is rooted" but when I run the Root Checker app it tells me device has no root access.
Heres the Software Information from the device:
Android Version
4.4.2
Baseband Version
M8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20064
Kernel Version
3.4.0
Build Number
KOT49I.D95920s
Software Version
D95920s
Can anyone point me towards a solution for this? I made a new thread regarding this matter because even though I've seen many people post similar situations they're for other type of devices. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks,
I'd say you might have to grab the tot for the d959, flash back to stock and run the updates again, then use stump.

Can someone answer this for me?
This always happens to me, I post a new thread and I get my questions answered once but after that no more help. Is this a forum rule?, do I need to help another user before receiving help again. I'd appreciate if someone could point me in the right track.
Thanks!,

Get back to stock using tot file following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
A lot of peep have been posting that they're not able to root the latest update with the previous methods. And also T-Mobile doesn't use a tot file. Its .kdz. But not gonna work due to the latest update doesn't have download mode. So if you're on the latest, I suggest find a root method ( try stumproot, safe root, I/o root, vroot, towel root, hell id try anything. But that's me. I don't suggest shoot blind if you don't know what you're doing) then install freedom flex get a custom recovery then make a backup and flash d'fuse's rooted KitKat and disable ota's.

Hi, so I am stuck without recovery or download mode. I know that the LG Mobile Support Tool should work but I tried it on two PCs and just as it finishes extracting the software after it downloads, the program runs into an error and closes. I am running D95920s like everyone else here. Just no luck. Any suggestions? I plugged in at 90% Not sure if im doing anything wrong.
Update: So the LG Mobile Tool has many security checks and it doesn't always allow for flashing. If anybody comes across this problem in the future. Refer to mattwheats instructions.

This procedure will require you to use Odin and putting your phone in Download mode. For more information on this read the OP in the [GUIDE][HOW-TO] Install Any i537 AT&T Firmware thread.
Go to your System Settings->More->Security and check the box to all Unknown Sources. This will allow you to install the application that will root your phone.
On your computer navigate to W0lfdroid's rooting website. This website walks you through exactly how to root your NH3 firmware but I will try to explain the steps as well.
You need to download 3 things from this page: Odin v3, rootable kernel, and the NH3 stock kernel. Odin v3 can be downloaded from a variety of sources, so obtain it from a source you trust. The other 2 files can be downloaded from w0lfdroid’s website above. Make sure you download the files meant for the i537.
Extract both of the zip files you downloaded above to a location you will be able to find later.
Power down your phone and put your phone in download mode, open Odin, and select the AP or PDA button to load the I537_ROOT_Ker_W0lfDroid.tar.md5 file you extracted. Odin should look exactly like the picture below if you’ve loaded it correctly.
Click the start button to flash the rootable kernel to your phone. This kernel needs to be flashed in order to downgrade the kernel to the previous version that has the necessary root vulnerability.
Once Odin has finished, reboot your phone into the stock ROM.
On your phone navigate to the TowelRoot website.
Click on the lambda symbol to download the Towel Root apk.
Once the apk is downloaded, install it. This is why we needed to allow unknown sources in step 1.
Once the app is installed, open the app. Your phone should now be rooted. You’re not done yet though.
Power down your phone and enter download mode.
Open Odin again and select the AP or PDA button to load the I537_NH3_Ker_W0lfDroid.tar.md5 file you extracted previously. Odin should look exactly like the image below.
Press the start button to flash the NH3 stock kernel. This will restore your phone to exactly the way it was before you started this process except now you will be rooted.
UCUCOC6 (5.0.1)
@muniz_ri has put together a great guide for retaining root privileges on the OC6 firmware.
IMPORTANT: If you are already on the OC6 firmware without root, the only way you can root is to start by flashing the NE3 Odin package. This will completely wipe your phone. A method to natively root OC6 has not been found yet; if/when it is I will update this post.
Thanks to:

Sounds like you're doing something wrong, I've done it successfully dozens of times. Did you read the directions carefully and do everything exactly as written?
Also there is no way to root once on lollipop. You have to root kitkat and then do that update, keep-root method, there is no other way
i did everything well but sti brick my phone.....hopefully that someone will find a way to root lollipop on Samsung Galaxy s4 active i537....once again thank u 4 yr quick reply SIR
wifi fix didn't work flashing back to NH3?
I followed all the instructions to root my S4 Active i537. After I flashed NE3 rooted then flashed NH3 kernel my wifi still is not working. I used the right kernel file. What should I do?

Are you trying to root NE3 or NH3?
I am rooted.
My phone was running the NH3 firmware. Like I said I used Odin to flash the NE3 firmware, rooted my phone, then I flashed back to the NH3 using WolFdroid's method. All went well in the root but now my wifi doesn't work. It said on his page that once the NH3 kernel flash after root that the wifi would start working again, but it's not?

Did you use Odin to flash the NE3 firmware or kernel? If you're trying to root NH3, you should flash the NE3 kernel (referred to as root kernel by W0lfdroid), root with towelroot, and then flash the NH3 kernel. If you're flashing entire firmwares while trying this, there's your problem right there...
FILENAME
The file name that I used was a zip file n had to extract it, then use with Odin. I am not sure which it is firmware or kernel. The file name is SGH-I537UCUCNE3_4.4.2_ATT_ALL.zip

Right, that's the entire NE3 firmware, which is why you are having problems. To root NH3, you have to Odin flash the NE3 KERNEL (which is referred to on the W0lfdroid website only as ROOT kernel). You're flashing the wrong file, which means instead of rooting NH3 with the NE3 kernel, you're simply restoring all of NE3. Then when you try to put the NH3 kernel, that causes problems
I recommend you read the W0lfdroid website again and make sure you actually understand what you're supposed to do, because as of right now, you do not. Not trying to be mean, simply stating a fact
what do you think I should do?
I thought that I did it right but I didn't. Thank you for pointing out that I really don't know what I am doing because I don't. I got confused. What do you think I should do? Should I download the NH3 firmware flash that and start over again doing it with the kernel files? I appreciate your help.

Probably the best course of action
Root for OC7 (stagefright patch update for OC6) is pretty much the same as root for OC6, OC7 Keep Root method can be found here.
Root for NH4 (stagefright patch update for NH3) is the same W0lfdroid method, with one important exception. You can still use the same I537_ROOT_Kernel linked to on that site, but once you've done that, you need this I537_NH4_Kernel instead of the NH3 kernel on the W0lfdroid site. (Tested and confirmed working)

It is not possible to unlock the bootloader on the i537, the best you can do is use FlashFire. This means no custom kernels so you can only use TouxhWiz-based ROMs. There are 2 ROMs in the development section that you can try, but other than that there's not much else you can do.

What are you running right now Kitkat, Lollipop? If you are on N900AUCUCNC2, you can use Towel root https://towelroot.com/ or Kingo root http://www.kingoapp.com/ The only way to install custom rom is to have Safestrap install as the bootloader is locked.

I'm not the OP, but I have the same question: I have a stock Note 3 with Lollipop (N900AUCUEOC1). I'd love to root it. Is there a step-by-step guide, or better yet a tap-and-go app to achieve root?

You can't root OC1, but you can use Odin to downgrade to NC2 and root it. Odin v.3.10.6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3109599&d=1420980613. Once you Odin back you can use Towel root or Kingo root (links are posted above your post). Then install Supersu https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu&hl=en and run it, install Busybox https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox&hl=en open and install it, then Safestrap http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=7216. (You should make a backup once Safestrap is installed before you flash any Roms). Once you're done you can pick a Rom for your Note 3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/development Now you ever use Odin? http://www.samsungodindownload.com/odin-tutorial/ (The site only shows flashing the All-In-One file so you know). Use all 4 Odin files, N900AUCUCNC2 ODIN Files, BL https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891602 AP https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891890 CP https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891603 CSC https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891604
Brilliant! I'm rooted on Lollipop, and loving my Note 3 all over again. Thanks for the easy-to-follow instructions, that made it a breeze!
lil differant way
To shorten the process, I downloaded Chainfires app called FlashFire, Then Downloaded full OC1 odin tar and Full N2 Odin tar. I flashed Note 3 back to N2 with pc odin, I then transferred OC1 to my sd card installed Flashfire and used flash Fire to do a complete flash to OC1 while choosing to inject everroot. Saved tons of time and in my mind a lot cleaner. I also have ROM PRO TOOL BOX and Chainfires CF-Bench after installing all the apps I wanted and setting up my personal settings on the phone all together, I installed BusyBox Pro and did a smart install, then rebooted and performed a benchmark. Then opened Rom Pro Tool box and went to cpu and then the benchmark it recognized the benchmark from chainfires cf-bench app so I choose it and also clicked apply at boot. Rebooted and this Note is fast as light and reliable. FlashFire will make back ups for you if your worried about recovery and always a good Idea to have Helium and or Titanium to make a nandriod and a completed setup back up to store on your pc and cloud just in case. :fingers-crossed:
Does anyone know if Rooting directly from OC1 without a wipe is being worked on? :fingers-crossed: or should I just stop whining and just do one of the above options? :victory:

Help! Stuck on AT&T load screen after Odin
Followed post 4 instructions, but after Odin (which said PASS!), phone is now stuck on white boot screen with AT&T logo. Checked md5, everything checks out. What do you think went wrong?

What was you running before, Lollipop? If you was, you need to do all four files not the All-In-One to change your boot loader back to NC2.
so much simpler
Thanks for making this simpler! If all goes well then you will be donated to good sir! now if you could just get someone on my at&t s5 active!

I have a s5active and just love the hell out of it. I'm still kinda green with the rooting but have done several successful roots, but development is way out of my wheelhouse. Unfortunately I haven't found a developer that had been working on the active. I'm still looking though. Thanks for doing the outstanding organization you did for the note 3. I'm going to be doing it as soon as the laptop comes back from the shop. My wife will like fire cat I think. I just found the thread I needed for my active lol only one rim but better than nothing.
Hey all, I've been away since the Skyrocket days. For ODIN, what state does the phone need to be in. I have USB debugging Enabled, but the ODIN says Failed. I downloaded all 4 files. Nevermind, had to put the phone in download mode.
i used KingoRoot to "root" it said it was sucessful, but when i try SuperSU it said "SuperSu Binary needs to be updated. Continue"? when i click continue, i click on normal and it says "Installing, please wait" then it returns failed.. SuperSu binary is not updating what is the fix for this?

I would install Root Checker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&hl=en to see if your root is properly installed. You might have to use KingoRoot again. I usually stick with Towelroot.
i tried superuser and that said it might not have installed properly. I tried flashing the ODIN files again and now it says failed. I think i've bricked my phone and now im really frustrated

Hello!
Is there a way to update your device through the official updates of Samsung to the newest updaate?
I rooted my phone using the "Root Samsung Galaxy S5 mini SM-G800F using Odin" guide on AndroidMTK. (Search it on google, first link it is probably) but now it says even after unrooting that I have modified files on my phone and making it unable to root.
I want to download the OTA Updates because it contains Android 5.0, doesn't matter if I have to unroot because I don't like my rooted device anyway.
Is there any way?
Please help.

I found that the device will update OTA regardless of root. Root is broken after the update, but that's all.
The message about having a modified system only appears when no update is available. If there is an update, it will start downloading and install.
Others may be able to confirm/deny this behaviour, but that's how it worked for me.
hi,
I would love to root my sm-g800f.
Which guide should I follow?
Thanks
What ROM? You can try flashing the correct CF Auto Root for your phone model and Android version using Odin if it using the latest Lollipop.

I have to look, so, for 'CF Auto Root' for G800FXXU1BPC3 Lollipop MR1 and
Odin.
Odin goes on PC and
CF Auto Root goes on device.
Am I right?
Both files go on PC, you used Odin to flash CF Auto Root into mobile. Seek for the files in the official page:
https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
There are many videos on YouTube about it as most Samsung phones are rooted this way. Just make sure you use the correct file for your phone (G800F).
Backup everything you can first in case something goes wrong you may need to wipe mobile data and reflash stock ROM.
The other option is to use Odin to flash TWRP and then flash SuperSU zip from Chainfire. First, TWRP goes on PC then SuperSU Zip on phone, that you flash using TWRP. I am sure there are tutorials here about it, just pick TWRP for G800F, SuperSU is universal but some version may be needed according to your Android version. Can't help more because I have G800H and not rooted as Marshmallow was released for it and it has all I need. Good luck.

first way, I think, should be more simple.
How silly, I would root to change fonts on device.
And of course to free space, delete junkie and have control of my device.
Marshmallow is going to make me regret rooting?
You can change fonts using atock, no root needed. Also use Debloater to disable junk, no root needed either.
You can't use OTA to upgrade to MM when it arrives as it usually won't install or bootloops, so you will need to flash MM to go back to stock and upgrade then root again. Flashfire from Chainfire would be able to install OTAKU and keep root, but support to S5 mini is unkonwm, and no reports of success as far as I know.
Last but not least, flashing anything other than stock ROM through Odin will trip a Knox security counter and you'll lose warranty.

I don' t uderstand.
I'm stock. If I'll root I'll not be anymore stock.
If I don't root, will MM arrive OTA?

Yes, when it's available for your phone model, as long as you're stock. Sorry, wasn't clear before.

''fonts using atock'', I think I can't.
I can only use payment monotype fonts

This is using stock MM on my G800H, I don't remember on Lollipop but I'm almost sure there was a similar option:

I have found these two guides.
Which one do I have to follow?
