I'm not sure if I should reflash stock , sunshine says I have to uninstall xposed on my 5.1 xt1058 and I want to know if anyone got it to work on 2013 variant, I needz freedem
Sunshine supports the Moto X 2013 up to 4.4.2, on all 2013 Moto X's and only some on 4.4.4. The only way to check is to install Sunshine and try. It won't cost you anything unless it can unlock the bootloader.

Sorry, a few too many threads, so I want to check my understanding of what can be done for Root, ROM upgrade, etc with a Moto X if purchased from Verizon today...
As I understand it, the Verizon Moto X hasn't received any OTA updates yet, as such...
I could still use PwnMyMoto to gain root
Its possible to keep root for the camera OTA update if/when Verizon pushes it? (based on -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2466191 it looks like yes, is that correct?)
Its likely not possible to keep root as future OTA updates come out
Its very likely that 4.3 may not receive root.
there is no chance for a boot loader unlock on the retail Verizon Moto X (so I wouldn't have to buy Moto X Dev Edition)
Is there a stable way to tether without being rooted (unlimited data plan), at least as stable as Wifi Tether for Root was on my Bionic and Thunderbolt?
The Dev Edition of the Moto X (not available from verizon store, but rather Moto web site), can easily be rooted no matter what updates come down (just unlock boot loader, flash custom recovery, install SU from custom recovery?)
Is that correct?
thank you.

Only a TEMP root, with Towel Root, or TowelPie root was possible on 4.4.2 with a locked bootloader.
IF you've never had your phone upgraded to 4.4.4... and you still have 4.4.2 with bootloader 30.B4, take a look at Sunshine to unlock your bootloader, then you can root just like you had a Developer Edition phone...

I have a Verizon Moto X 2014 (XT1096) on latest 5.1 update. I just want root. Nothing seems to hell give me root access. I've tried several root apps. (kingo root, kingroot, etc etc) it would be a dream if I could possibly unlock my bootloader. I do have OEM Unlocking enabled in developer options...but it seems to do nothing. Please help. Thank you.
Search these forums for mofo
It is the only way to root a verizon moto x.

4.4.4 and 5.0 are Mofo rootable. 5.1 this far isn't.
I got a fresh Moto X from AT&T with 5.0.1 on it and was wondering if I can downgrade and unlock? Every android I had I enjoyed the comfort of unlocking and rooting. I need that again.

You can't unlock the bootloader of an AT&T Moto X 2014 no matter what version of Android you are running. You need to sell it and buy the Pure Edition if you want to unlock the bootloader.
Keeping Root & wp off when Upgrading Rooted Retail VZW Moto X with wp off to Lollipop
My Retail XT1060 VZW Moto X 2013 (non-dev edition) is rooted with a locked bootloader and write-protection off and running Android 4.4. I would like to upgrade to Lollipop (Android 5.1) while keeping root access and write-protection off. Is this doable?
Follow up thread-jack that seems highly relevant ...
If I have the same exact device and I am not rooted or bootloader unlocked, is there any good reason to wait to apply Lollipop in hopes that an exploit will be released to root/BL unlocked from 4.4.4?
