Carrier aggregation status on Verizon - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried a search and couldn't find how to check to see if carrier aggregation, CA, was enabled and see what bands were actively selected for it.
Does anyone know how to see if CA is enabled and what bands are active for it? In my area I have band 2, band 4 and band 13 live for VZW. Would be interesting to know if CA has been enabled. I know that it's supposed to be live for 4+13 but for some reason my phone is always camping on band 2 in my area unless I move up a mile or two and then it switches to band 4.
I've used LTE discovery but all it shows is just Band 2, band 4 or band 13 being selected and not if CA is live.
For reference I'm located in midtown west NYC.

[Q] UMTS/HSPA 900 + LTE Band 20 Flash ATT S5

I was hoping the ATT S5 would get UMTS 900 and LTE Band 20 (Europe Digital Dividend 800 Mhz), I was disappointed to see that it does not.
I live 45 min. North, Northwest of Philly and AT&T is the best carrier in PA - HANDS DOWN! I also travel every week, all over the US for work - and I'm very happy with AT&T in general. One thing I noticed on my S4 is that I could not get LTE in Burlington, VT on it - but I had full bars of LTE on my iPad Air. Side question; What band does ATT use for LTE there that the S4 don't support?

on the S4 I was able to activate AWS freq. for UMTS by flashing it. I need to do this for UMTS 900 and/or (pref. AND LTE Band 20, since I travel to Northern Norway all the time - and there is only UMTS 900 and LTE 20 some places there.... If I cannot have the phone flashed to have the current bands AND the wanted bands - would there be a way to flashing it back and forth from ATT to "Euro/International" mode?

AT&T uses bands 2, 4, 5, & 17 for LTE. Band 17 (700mhz) is what most of their LTE is on. That's why the signal is always good. I am starting to see Band 2 (1900mhz) in some areas. I saw Band 4 (AWS) in Chicago in a few areas (probably were capacity is weak).
Yes, with the S4 you could unlock the AWS frequencies. I do not know if you could flash UMTS 900 with an S4. You will not be able to flash anything with frequencies on the S5 as AT&T has locked down the phone entirely. It will follow in the Note 3's footsteps.
I think they discourage people unlocking their devices and using them on other networks. AT&T is forgetting what GSM is all about IMO. If AT&T LTE is not that important to you, you may want to consider the international variant which will support your European frequencies. It will NOT work on AT&T LTE though.

AT&T is most important, as I am in the US 95% of the time. At least the S5 will have LTE 1800 and 2600. My hometown in Norway should get LTE 1800 later this year. So at least I will have GSM 900, UMTS 2100 and LTE 1800.
Do you, or anyone else know if AT&T will unlock Phones on the Next plan? I got the S4 full price, but I'm using the Next plan for the S5.

They'll unlock it if its paid off entirely. But that doesn't mean you can't unlock it yourself.

Any way to know what bands are in the area?

Does anyone know any way to check what bands exist in my area? I seem to only connect to band 26 (800Mhz) but my city was one of the first to have clearwire so band 41(2500 Mhz) infrastructure has to already be around. And band 25 (1900Mhz) is the back bone of sprint's lte... so I cannot believe my city only has band 26... Any way to check with some sort of band specific coverage map or tower specific information map?

I have looked for this answer everywhere and do not seem to find an answer for it: Which version of the Note 4 Exynos works with T-Mobile LTE?
From a post I read, seems that the SM-N910C sold in Qatar works, but I am not sure.

Interesting...unless the Qatar version supports 1700MHz band....I'm don't think you'll fully be able to utilize the TM network.

Short answer, The N910C and N910U has Band 4 LTE. Neither has band 12 (700MHz Block A)

Yup, thanks a lot ! I was getting to that conclusion... T-Mobile uses Band 4 (AWS 1700/2100 MHz), which you are right only the N910C and N910U have. And also true, as with other international phones like the Sony Z3 and others, the biggest regret will be Band 12. However, for what I have read, the regret there of not having Band 12 is WiFi calling and some better reception indoor like in buildings and such.

LTE Band 12 has nothing to do with WiFi calling. WiFi calling, in terms of hardware, simply requires WiFi, which all N910 models have (2.4 and 5.xGHz). The rest is carrier support (which T-Mobile has) and software on the phone (which if it isn't on by default can be added via root).
LTE Band 12 doesn't matter much outside of California, Florida, Texas, New England, Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Atlanta, Minneapolis and Indianapolis. Leap (Cricket) Wireless owns most of the 700MHz Block A spectrum in America. Check out this map and see where you live vs what your carrier holds.

I looked at that map but did not quite understood the results. So, can you please educate me on what really I might miss should I go missing the Band 12 for someone living on those areas you have mentioned above?
I am tired of waiting on the T-Mobile Note 4 availability and the N910U seems to be available on eBay, plus it has the Exynos.

What's so special about the Exynos processor over the 805? The 805 in my Note4 is a beast.

How do you add wi-fi calling via root? My understanding is that no one has managed to extract wi-fi related software pieces from T-Mobile ROMs and successfully port anywhere. That's why I'm always stuck with TW ROMs.
Just get the sm-n910t. Why do you want Exynos version? Many app wont take advantage of that cpu.

N910C VoLTE and international dialer questions.
For anyone that has the N910C running on T-Mobile, is VoLTE actived for you? When you make a call, does it stay on LTE or does it drop to 4G (HSPA) and then go back to LTE after you hang up.
Also, does the dialer include the video chat icon on the bottom left and is there a way to remove it since (I'm guessing) it doesn't work.
I have a n910c and I'm on tmobile when I call it drops down to 4g then goes back to lte.

Does HSPA (aws) 3G/4G (H+) work on your 910c on tmobile?
Also are you able to make calls & use data at the same time?

Can anyone confirm for sure if they're able to surf the web or do any data related activity while on a call with their sm-n910c? I have ZERO data connectivity while on a call and as soon as the call hangs up, I instantly have my data back. Any help or confirmation is appreciated.

T-Mobile carrier aggregation

I know for a fact that Note 4 SM-N910T from T-Mobile has the carrier aggregation enabled, however when I go into AS INFORMATION, it shows that carrier aggregation is enabled, but not configured. I am in Atlanta, GA and does this mean T-Mobile doesn't have two bands to aggregate on? Atlanta GA has band 4 LTE and refarmed band 2 hspa+ and band 12 LTE.

Wanted to post that on Verizon and Samsung website the LTE bands supported on the device doesn't not include bands 12 and 71 that T mobile uses. Well i have used it on T-Mobile and it connected to band 12 which leaves me to believe the Verizon edition supports all bands like a unlock model would. Single and bands 2 4 and 66 worked great and are the main ones used in my part but 12 is around also and connects. Don't have any area where there is band 71 so cannot test that but like i said probably does just wanted to pass the info.

Hey bud
I just started using the Samsung galaxy s10 5g verizon variant with tmobile and had band 71 in the band selection app but today I checked and the highest band it has now is 66. Why did band 71 disappear from the lte band list?
Would you know about that?
