Ok, so i just got sent a refurbished note 4 and immediately i went ahead and rooted (didin't make a nandroid backup........I KNOW I KNOW! LESSON LEARNED :crying and installed custom rom. Problem is, my usb port decided it no longer wanted to work properly. It charges but VERY slowly and it doesn't register as a fast charger connected even though it is. My issue i'm running into now is that when i put it in download mode to try to make it completely stock through odin it doesn't recognize it at all on my pc, nor does it come up as usb storage. I know i can unroot using super su but what can i do about my bootloader, kernel and custom rom. I need it to go all the way back as close to stock as possible, i do understand that knox is tripped but i am not worried about that. Anybody have any ideas on how i can get back to stock fw without a usb connection. Just received my note 5 today and they are awaiting my note 4 in the mail. Can't send it back like this if i don't expect to pay for it. PLZ HELP ME
Okk meaning your custom rom have problem on the usb side. So I will suggest try diffrent rom diffrent rom and see if that works , then you can rool back to stock by downloading a stock firmware and flashing it with odin. However check to see if your have enabled usb debugging that you phone will be recognised by the pc.

Without a computer you will not be able to go back to any firmware which requires odin and download mode..
(like the stock official firmware for example)
Sorry for the bad news, but it's true!
Good luck,
Have a great day!
are there any twrp flashable stock roms for lollipop on t mobile?
From TEKHD. It's stock firmware in a flashable (cog2) zip please thank him

I made another thread asking about a problem I was having with Odin not recognizing my captivate, but with no solution there I have decided to try and install froyo a different way. It looks like the froyo guide that nbs11 wrote will work for me a lot easier than odin. I am just about to attempt it, but I have a major concern:
With odin not being able to recognize my phone at all when it is in download mode, what would happen if my phone were to become bricked? Is odin the only way to fix it then? I would not want to brick it and then have a program that will never recognize it...
,thanks
I would recommend not flashing froyo until you work out the odin problem. You will be fine the first time you flash most likely but will essentially be stuck with that one rom. Most roms will throw crazy errors and fcs if you don't go back to stock before flashing.
Also if you happen to brick your phone you will be stuck without odin. It might be tempting to flash a rom but there will be no way to go back to stock.

I was afraid of this... Do you know of any other way to flash back to stock without odin? I spent 6 hours trying to get it to work yesterday with no luck...
Oh wait! I would be using clockwork and RomManager in order to flash the phone to Froyo.... Does that mean when I am on Froyo I could use the same procedure to flash back to an older firmware all without the use of Odin?
That's^ exactly what I did, I used Rom Manager (clockwork, they're one and the same) to flash the recovery, backed up the stock Eclair and flashed Axura Froyo.
I also used Titanium to back up all my apps and restore them after switching to Axura. No Odin at all.
Had this phone short of a month. I'm trying to figure out how to flash Odin now.

So you can confirm that it would be completely possible to flash back to Eclair with just clockwork? If so, it might be worth doing. Well, as long as I don't get bricked... That, im sure, would require odin
totally not worth the risk. figure out ODIN first, or we will be seeing a post in a few weeks from you screaming about bricking your phone.....

Thats the thing though... I see no way to get odin to work with my phone. I have tried every thing that I know of.
*sigh* guess Ill have to wait for the official froyo update then...
I prettu much figured out how to recover using Odin, but before my question is now that I've rooted and applied a custom firmware, will using Odin now wipe all of my user data, root and rom?
Thanks.
I think i get it now, Odin IS a way to recover the stock firmware, it's not like clockwork where you backup your original and custom firmware and switch between them.
The fact that I was able to flash a custom firmware without bricking my phone sort of negates the need for me to use Odin.
I took that risk and it worked fine. Now for the OP, it's better to find out that you do have that option of reverting back to stock in case you brick in the middle of flashing. Therein comes the problem that Odin doesn't recognize your phone, hence the hesitation to flash.
I guess it's really up to you if you want to do it anyway without Odin...
I see no reason to risk it... I spent too much money on this thing to brick it without a way to fix it

Don't you have warranty on it? well everything that goes flashing is always a risk if your going back to stock im prefer using the "odin stock with 3 button combo", it flashes the sbl.bin first which is the 3 button combo in cases it hangs up somewhere you can always unplug the usb then go to download mode again. In cases there is also a "homemade test jig" that can help you go to download mode. The benifits you get from flashing is a lot you can use your phone full potential. Correct me if im wrong as long as you can start your phone with a display you can always fix it. I would suggest to read all those with quote and theres also "ADB" which can help in some cases. just keep in mind before flashing make sure that the 3 button combo is intact first.
Nope, I have no warranty on this... I have t-mobile but didn't want the vibrant because I would need to pay the extra money for a data plan on it. With the captivate, I bypassed the requirement for the plan when I unlocked it.

Ok time to re appear in this thread again. I have had a decent amount of flashing experience and want to make sure the right info us being shared.
Once again you can flash to any rom you want a couple of times.however after a few you are not found to be able to do it because what is going on in the phone of more complicated then you see on the phone. Most roms change the kernels and hardware software interaction. This can cause conflict resulting in fcs and excessive battery drain.
With all that being said I would still advise you to jump the bucket as king a you get odin to work. As long as you can figure that out you are golden. Once you have the hand of it you can flash to stock and to a rom in your sleep. I have managed to do it while on the highway.

A) You didn't install the driver (or the wrong driver)
B) You don't know what Download Mode is
C) Your phone is broken
D) You need to use a different USB port
Those are the ones that come to mind.
Alternatively, you could give Heimdall a try.

A) The drivers should be right, I downloaded them twice
B) I know exactly how to get to download mode.
C) Most likely
D) I Tried on 3 separate computers with different USB
Let me know if you have any other suggestions, I have tried everything.
What is Heimdall? Might be worth a shot...
Only idea i have is to pull your battery sim and sd card for a minut or two then flash odin with only your battery in.

I bricked my phone with an i9000 firmware. Since I was unlucky enough to have a phone without the 3 button combo, I was screwed.
Now, IF I decide to flash my new phone again, i'll make sure to put together the homemade jig which can put the phone into download mode without the phone needing to be able to do it itself.

Guessing you're on a phillz kernel now? Simply download stock gb or ics from samfirmware.com, perform full 3 wipes in cwm recovery while still on jb, then flash stock rom with pc odin, done, make sure it boots ok, if needed perform wipes again (unless on unsafe ics kernel).
P. S... Regarding the phone saying it's charging when not, this usually points to dirty points on the usb connector, cleaning with alcohol and cotton bud usually fixes it, might save you a service center visit and 4 week wait.

Yes, make sure you disable ever root option or it will retain root. Also check binary counter after flash just to make sure it's zero.

Hey guys, little bit of a problem, hope you have some ideas.
Basically, My phone has decided it wont be charging anymore, the battery charges fine in my wifes N7000, used 3/4 different charges, all work fine with hers, none which work with mine, looking inside the charging port, it appears to a little burned, theres an area which is quite black inside the port.
So, the phone is rooted and running a lightweight LSZ leak, its not returnable to samsung (and likely, my insurer) in this condition, problem is, if the phone isnt connect via USB, I wont be able to flash an official firmware via ODIN to remove the rootage.
Is it possible for me to perhaps flash an older firmware through CMW and then try and update OTA to remove root, or, am i destined to charge my battery from my missus' phone from now on?
Many thanks!
if you rooted why not use mobile odin to flash a stock firmware..

Edit: also read thoroughly as you already have the link there are few things you would require to install for the lite version.
Under default settings of mobile odin, it will remove root. But before you go about uprooting, make sure your counter is set to 0. If no then you will need to use triangle away app and it will need root access.

It is an apk file.
I think for the lite version you will need to download the odin flash kernel first. Just follow the instructions. The paid version automatically downloads it.
Thanks again guys, one final question then, if you was returning your note to the Samsung centre would you use the kies GB, ICS or JB official ROM? Considering making it the JB, what do you think?

Sorry, I might have missed the part about Odin not recognising it.. Anyway, are you sure you installed the correct Samsung drivers? Try another PC and install the drivers and give Odin another shot. Also, try using another USB cable, it might help.

try charging battery outside of phone (like external charger). use mobile odin to flash stock rom.
edit: or just borrow if someone you know has same phone.
Used to have problem of odin not recognizing my phone. Then I switched to xp from windows 7 with same driver installed, no issue.
So could be driver issue if you're using windows 7.

Well, since you have a stock ROM now, I guess you could try and take the phone to the retailer (or service center) and have them check the USB port.. It could be a battery problem too. My phone was doing weird stuff when I was using an unbranded battery (it didn't want to recharge and it kept making connected/disconnected sound even though I was nowhere near the charger).

I had problems installing the Slim-n7000-4.3.build.1-OFFICIAL-874.
Installed from the 4.1.2 stock.
Once connected, the N7000 did not carry the battery.
Tested various cables and chargers, even doing full wipe again the problem continued.
Had tested the Slim-n7000-4.3.beta.4-WEEKLY-424 and this problem did not occur.
The only solution was charging the N7000 with it off and go back to stock rom.
I had no problems with the Slim-n7000-4.2.2.build.7-OFFICIAL, Slim-n7000-4.2.2.build.8-OFFICIAL.

You need to be more specific.
What phone model exactly do you have N910T or N910W8 or?
What is the exact filename of the firmware you used to odin back to stock?
Good luck!
If Odin failed to fix your phone then your down load was probably bad. I have never had an issue with Odin restoring my phone even from Bad bricks.
You may also just want to try running CF auto root and flashing a custom recover and a new ROM and not going back to stock.

Your wire might be bad. I tried using an old wire that worked fine to charge my phone, but was not work for data. When I tried rooting, it failed half way through. Tried kies 3, but it wouldn't recognize my p phone. I switched wires, and bingo, all good.
