You need to be more specific.
What phone model exactly do you have N910T or N910W8 or?
What is the exact filename of the firmware you used to odin back to stock?
Good luck!
If Odin failed to fix your phone then your down load was probably bad. I have never had an issue with Odin restoring my phone even from Bad bricks.
You may also just want to try running CF auto root and flashing a custom recover and a new ROM and not going back to stock.

Your wire might be bad. I tried using an old wire that worked fine to charge my phone, but was not work for data. When I tried rooting, it failed half way through. Tried kies 3, but it wouldn't recognize my p phone. I switched wires, and bingo, all good.

I made another thread asking about a problem I was having with Odin not recognizing my captivate, but with no solution there I have decided to try and install froyo a different way. It looks like the froyo guide that nbs11 wrote will work for me a lot easier than odin. I am just about to attempt it, but I have a major concern:
With odin not being able to recognize my phone at all when it is in download mode, what would happen if my phone were to become bricked? Is odin the only way to fix it then? I would not want to brick it and then have a program that will never recognize it...
,thanks
I would recommend not flashing froyo until you work out the odin problem. You will be fine the first time you flash most likely but will essentially be stuck with that one rom. Most roms will throw crazy errors and fcs if you don't go back to stock before flashing.
Also if you happen to brick your phone you will be stuck without odin. It might be tempting to flash a rom but there will be no way to go back to stock.

I was afraid of this... Do you know of any other way to flash back to stock without odin? I spent 6 hours trying to get it to work yesterday with no luck...
Oh wait! I would be using clockwork and RomManager in order to flash the phone to Froyo.... Does that mean when I am on Froyo I could use the same procedure to flash back to an older firmware all without the use of Odin?
That's^ exactly what I did, I used Rom Manager (clockwork, they're one and the same) to flash the recovery, backed up the stock Eclair and flashed Axura Froyo.
I also used Titanium to back up all my apps and restore them after switching to Axura. No Odin at all.
Had this phone short of a month. I'm trying to figure out how to flash Odin now.

So you can confirm that it would be completely possible to flash back to Eclair with just clockwork? If so, it might be worth doing. Well, as long as I don't get bricked... That, im sure, would require odin
totally not worth the risk. figure out ODIN first, or we will be seeing a post in a few weeks from you screaming about bricking your phone.....

Thats the thing though... I see no way to get odin to work with my phone. I have tried every thing that I know of.
*sigh* guess Ill have to wait for the official froyo update then...
I prettu much figured out how to recover using Odin, but before my question is now that I've rooted and applied a custom firmware, will using Odin now wipe all of my user data, root and rom?
Thanks.
I think i get it now, Odin IS a way to recover the stock firmware, it's not like clockwork where you backup your original and custom firmware and switch between them.
The fact that I was able to flash a custom firmware without bricking my phone sort of negates the need for me to use Odin.
I took that risk and it worked fine. Now for the OP, it's better to find out that you do have that option of reverting back to stock in case you brick in the middle of flashing. Therein comes the problem that Odin doesn't recognize your phone, hence the hesitation to flash.
I guess it's really up to you if you want to do it anyway without Odin...
I see no reason to risk it... I spent too much money on this thing to brick it without a way to fix it

Don't you have warranty on it? well everything that goes flashing is always a risk if your going back to stock im prefer using the "odin stock with 3 button combo", it flashes the sbl.bin first which is the 3 button combo in cases it hangs up somewhere you can always unplug the usb then go to download mode again. In cases there is also a "homemade test jig" that can help you go to download mode. The benifits you get from flashing is a lot you can use your phone full potential. Correct me if im wrong as long as you can start your phone with a display you can always fix it. I would suggest to read all those with quote and theres also "ADB" which can help in some cases. just keep in mind before flashing make sure that the 3 button combo is intact first.
Nope, I have no warranty on this... I have t-mobile but didn't want the vibrant because I would need to pay the extra money for a data plan on it. With the captivate, I bypassed the requirement for the plan when I unlocked it.

Ok time to re appear in this thread again. I have had a decent amount of flashing experience and want to make sure the right info us being shared.
Once again you can flash to any rom you want a couple of times.however after a few you are not found to be able to do it because what is going on in the phone of more complicated then you see on the phone. Most roms change the kernels and hardware software interaction. This can cause conflict resulting in fcs and excessive battery drain.
With all that being said I would still advise you to jump the bucket as king a you get odin to work. As long as you can figure that out you are golden. Once you have the hand of it you can flash to stock and to a rom in your sleep. I have managed to do it while on the highway.

A) You didn't install the driver (or the wrong driver)
B) You don't know what Download Mode is
C) Your phone is broken
D) You need to use a different USB port
Those are the ones that come to mind.
Alternatively, you could give Heimdall a try.

A) The drivers should be right, I downloaded them twice
B) I know exactly how to get to download mode.
C) Most likely
D) I Tried on 3 separate computers with different USB
Let me know if you have any other suggestions, I have tried everything.
What is Heimdall? Might be worth a shot...
Only idea i have is to pull your battery sim and sd card for a minut or two then flash odin with only your battery in.

I bricked my phone with an i9000 firmware. Since I was unlucky enough to have a phone without the 3 button combo, I was screwed.
Now, IF I decide to flash my new phone again, i'll make sure to put together the homemade jig which can put the phone into download mode without the phone needing to be able to do it itself.

Moved to Q&A.
Hi, I own a Samsung Galaxy S i9000M from Bell. It is unlocked. Two days ago I was just using it (software: gingerbread) and it crashed. I tried restarting it and it just looped the startup. I removed the battery several times and it just wouldn't staert up.
So today, I tried to restore it with Odin, I think that I might've used the wrong PDA and actually messed it up more. Now it doesnt even loop it just stays black or these green and red dots come. However, I can still enter download mode.
How can I fix this? What are the correct files for my phone?
All replies are greatly appreciated!!
Try reflashing to last working ROM
How do I do that? I don't know to original firmware :S

Downloading it right now, thanks for the tip.
Does anyone have any idea why my phone broke in the first place?
Where can I find Pit 512? Thanks for the help so far btw
OK, I found all the files and extracted them but they're all 0 bytes? What do I do now?
Don't know why they are 0 bytes but those are the files you need. Not sure where you live in Canada but I'm in Victoria if that helps you at all I can flash it for you.

Downloaded the newest version of WinRar and they extracted properly . Flashing my phone as I type this message. Fingers crossed :x
Flashed it to the files you said. It is back to original broken state. The startup loops. Atleast I fixed my mistakes from yesterday, going to get it checked out by a phone tech.
Error codes were:
Cache wipe failed
Data exsist but some failed (cant remember this one good)
I recorded what the failure codes were if you need the specific ones. Further help will be greatly appreciated.
It shouldn't be on a bootloop if you flashed it correctly...
Only times I had bootloops I just reflashed 2.3.6 XXJVZ via Odin which always worked even when I thought I screwed it up completely. As long as you can enter the download mode, when you have the right files to flash you should be able to fix it.
The boot loop originally happened randomly when I was on stock firmware. Could this mean that a piece of hardware is broken?

I've never had to use this myself but I've heard of it getting guys phones working. Flash it in odin as directed. Then once working re flash the kg3 firmware. Gl

never broke the phone before, but you could try to reflash back to other official ROMs, my friend tells me that it works
I soft bricked my Captivate flashing Mosiac over MIUI , finally managed to get it into download mode and ran Odin One Click 2.3.5 but it freezes at setup connection. I've done this multiple times with the same result....Any ideas???
Captivate connection issues help
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
Thanks b-eock but maybe you misunderstood my post. I'm in download mode and Odin recognizes my connection it just freezes at setup connection.
You may want to give a Heimdall-based option a try. Sometimes when Odin won't work, Heimdall will. Just remember to use the phone on the same port where you install the Heimdall drivers.
No I understood completely, that has everything you need...
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda premium
Well, beock is most likely right with the connection issue. Sound like a bad cable.
Second, flashing from an aosp type ROM (which MIUI is), i would not recommend trying to flash bootloaders. It well usually cause a loop, as you found out. Your on the right track. Flash to stock, then any different Samsung ROM you wish.
Thanks b-eock and everyone else who tried to help. I pulled the battery and got the firmware upgrade failed screen and ran Odin from there. Gotta love the Captivate....just cant kill it.lol
Hi guys, my phone was rooted using the CWM clockwork recovery injected smartflash method. I figured out I am too hopeless, and easily frustrated to have a rooted phone. So I went to install the original firmware with smartflash, unfortinately it did not work and timed out and now I am stuck on the SW Upgrade screen. I have tried multiple times, and even tried the LG recovery tool and all of them time out eventually through the process. Can anyone please advice me how to proceed? I use firmware v20c new zealand
Try to reinstall the drivers and download the bin files again, smart flash is the way to go

First off, thanks for that video. It was one of the few easy to use resources to root!
I have tried reinstalled drivers, downloading it again and making another rom of it with rom creator both with and without CWM clockwork. At this point I just keep trying hoping it will work. It keeps :Timeout error is occured different periods each time.
Im getting very frustrated as I am seeming to make no progress and dont know why it isnt working.

You are frustrated to having a rooted phone? But why? Lot of benefits if you have rooted phone. About the time out, It happened to me before. It shows time out so what i did is gave my phone some time to rest. I went to bed go to sleep and when i woke up i used smartflash again and it works!

I enjoyed the better interface and such, but all the bugs and constant resets were getting on my nerves. I guess I am too used to the team iOS. Thanks for the words of encouragement, if it doesnt work tonight Ill try again tomorrow. Its getting quite nerve racking, can't seem to get it to work
The only other suggestion I have for you is try some other cable, good luck! =)
Have you replaced the smartflash with a fresh download?
Yes, use new cable
Just only Cable made my phone bricked and cost me RS. 3000

Ok, so i just got sent a refurbished note 4 and immediately i went ahead and rooted (didin't make a nandroid backup........I KNOW I KNOW! LESSON LEARNED :crying and installed custom rom. Problem is, my usb port decided it no longer wanted to work properly. It charges but VERY slowly and it doesn't register as a fast charger connected even though it is. My issue i'm running into now is that when i put it in download mode to try to make it completely stock through odin it doesn't recognize it at all on my pc, nor does it come up as usb storage. I know i can unroot using super su but what can i do about my bootloader, kernel and custom rom. I need it to go all the way back as close to stock as possible, i do understand that knox is tripped but i am not worried about that. Anybody have any ideas on how i can get back to stock fw without a usb connection. Just received my note 5 today and they are awaiting my note 4 in the mail. Can't send it back like this if i don't expect to pay for it. PLZ HELP ME
Okk meaning your custom rom have problem on the usb side. So I will suggest try diffrent rom diffrent rom and see if that works , then you can rool back to stock by downloading a stock firmware and flashing it with odin. However check to see if your have enabled usb debugging that you phone will be recognised by the pc.

Without a computer you will not be able to go back to any firmware which requires odin and download mode..
(like the stock official firmware for example)
Sorry for the bad news, but it's true!
