T-Mobile stock ROM/Firmware on AT&T Note 4 - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible?
Are there hardware difference I don't know about?
Where would I find the latest unmodified stock ROM for T-Mobile?
All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

The bootloader and modem will the be first things to stop you if you were using ODIN on a PC.
If you were just flashing ONLY the system partition from a custom recovery then it would work.

[Q] Am I assuming things...

Flame goes to AT&T:
Am I imagining that AT&T is not allowing us to flash a different ROM (even if it's AT&T Rom).
I have tried to flash ROMs that are less bloated but all my efforts failed. It all restore back to the crap that AT&T wanted us to have. Even SS is not working normally any more. Can someone confirm this??? Thanks.
That all depends on what your firmware version is, along with what version of Safestrap you're attempting to use.
I see. I have safestrap 3.07 and 4.4.2 at&t firmware. I think it's bootloader locked.
Do you think if I flash clockworkmod things are going to get better?
I am too confused now.
It's ss 3.75.

T-Mobile and Sprint 5.1.1 Updates

I wonder if it is possible to install the T-Mobile or Sprint version of 5.1.1 on my regular provider-free Nexus 6.
When flashing a new firmware I usually extract a factory image and only flash boot.img and system.img so I don't lose my data and apps. If the T-Mobile version is only a matter of a different radio/baseband I could flash it because I won't flash the radio but keep the old one.
Any ideas if this is possible?

I have flashed both builds on my Nexus 6 purchased from Motorola and they both worked fine. I use Verizon.
The update is more than just a new radio. It's an entirely new android version update to 5.1.1. The Sprint build's radio and the T-Mobile build's radio are both different though.

Thanks. I know it's more than just a new radio. I just was not sure if the 5.1.1-versions only differ from each other by using a different radio but boot.img and system.img are all the same on all those 5.1.1 Nexus 6 versions.
The kernels are different. System.img as well as the radios are also different. The only similarities I can see between the two besides the Android version is that they both use the same bootloader version.

Oops. Then I better wait on the general factory image which should be here any time soon.
I used the twrp recovery flashable zips to upgrade from the I build to the 5.1.1 T-Mobile and from that to the sprint 5.1.1 .on the sprint build phone app would fc every 2 seconds and phone was unusable. Just throwing that out there. I'm gonna format and flash again. Forgot to mention on vzw

need instruction/help with upgrading baseband/kernel

Hi, I am currently use SOKP (5.1.1) rom on my t mobile note 4. My baseband is still COD6 (I guess bootloader should be in the same version as baseband). My TWRP is still 2.8.0.X.
I want to switch to Touchwiz based custom rom. In the meanwhile, I think I need to update the baseband (bootloader and etc) and TWRP for a smooth experience.
Can anyone advise an approach to do it? I am thinking to flash the latest original N910TUVU2DOK2_N910TTMB2DOK2_TMB.zip rom via odin. Can anyone post a link to the instruction? I want to make sure what I do via odin is correct.
I assume this flash will automatically update bootloader and baseband to the latest version. and I need to re-root and update TWRP per the instruction here before flash the TW based custom rom.
I figured out that I could just load the stock via odin and go from there. So far so good.

Flash G900A firmware on G900V phone...

Has anyone been successful in flashing the G900A firmware over the G900V phone? I read of someone going the opposite direction...
I'm very experienced with ODIN and flashing... any insight is welcome. I searched but didn't see many posts related to this...

What do you mean by "firmware"?
If it's the system partition then it's not a big problem.
If it's the kernel then the phone won't boot if you only don't have an unlocked bootloader.
But if it's bootloader and modem then you most likely won't be able to flash it or kill the phone.
Thanks,
I want to ODIN the official ATT S5 ROM over the Verison version... So... does that mean it's not possible?

I think, "A" ROM (system partition) on "V" hardware, bootloader, modem and kernel is possible.
I have a "V" sample here and can even try it if you're interested . But a little later.
But complete "A" Odin tar firmware on "V" hardware is definitely not possible.

Great clarification, thanks. If one were to flash the system partition, could future OTA updates could potentially brick the phone? Or would those updates simply fail?
A test would be great. Trying to get my kid's two V phones straight onto the ATT network... There are some dialing difficulties as they currently stand...

The updater usually does not find anything to update (I use here several "V"s and "T"s with "F" firmware). You can disable it to be sure, of course.

Don't you want to try this nice "F" unbranded firmware for your "V" phones? It should work excellent in GSM ntework.
BTW, LTE will be problematic with any firmware because "V" supports only 1 of 4 AT&T LTE bands.

You can download the stock firmware for whatever bootloader you're on right now and then after it's finished downloading the entire firmware you can unzip and pull the modem out and then repackage it as a .zip in order to be able to flash it with odin..
Do i have to do anyrhing special other then take everythine but modem out? Ive mever done it will it be self explainatory? Rathrr not brick m6 phone lol
