Hi,
I am looking for a way to mirror the screen to an external display while using Gear VR.
I tried screen mirroring (screencast) however when I get to "my videos" the screen blacks out.
any methods ?
I'd appreciate any comments.
Not possible ?
I tried to cast my screen to my Chromecast before inserting my phone into my VR. It will show images in 10 - 15 second intervals. These images are also in a split screen view so not too effective for others to see what you see. Not sure if its just too much for the CPU or what.
Afaik it is currently possible with "MirrorOp".
Check this thread out from the oculus forums: Gear VR S6 Screen Mirroring / Chromecast problem
(especially this posting for setup details)
Best way I found is to use samsung's Sidesync app. It takes a couple trys but it works! You just use the wifi sync and you can mirror the screen over to your pc

Hi all, I've been on a quest as of late to make the most of my Gear VR (with Note 4) and Plex Media Server as it has my entire media library on it. I found the thread below and discovered Pigasus (which I'm sure more than a few of you already know about, but if you don't...it's awesome!)
https://www.reddit.com/r/GearVR/comments/5epg3r/increasing_plex_quality/
It's basically a DLNA streamer that can pick up on your Plex servers seamlessly. Additionally, i feel like it has the nicest looking void theater setup of the few apps I've tried (Basically just Samsung VR) and is the easiest to control, and seems to be of the highest quality. Additionally, it has features like the ability to sticky the screen so that it follows wherever you look, which is nice and less annoying that having to recalibrate using the back button like in other apps. Unfortunately, at the moment, it's not directly available through the Gear VR Store without first receiving an Oculus key from the developer but you can get that from here: http://hanginghatstudios.com/pigasus and the lite version is free!
Anyway...as good as that is right now, I've furthered my quest, as the people in the reddit post above claim to be able to access their home DLNA remotely using VPN. Now I don't know jack about networking so of course with a little googling I found this:
https://www.macstories.net/tutorials/how-to-set-up-a-vpn-server-on-your-mac-and-access-everything-remotely-with-an-iphone/
Thus far, I've been able to connect my note 4 to my home VPN but unable to access any of my local servers. Does anyone here have the networking knowledge to confirm whether using PPTP is a viable way to remote access my home servers via an app like Pigasus?
I know it seems like a tall order but hoping someone out there can help. Thanks in advance and hopefully some of you that didn't know about Pigasus enjoy it!
Hello.
I was able to launch it but I want to see how good is it with 3D movies. Since Light version does not support 3d I am afraid I can't test it to compare it with MilkVR for example which is freeware. Maybe there is an option for 7 days any free trial of Full version? If not... I stay with MilkVR.
pigasus doesnt seem to like android 7, or rather vr gear forces oculus to run in wqhd, which screws with pigasus... very dissapointing
I can't remember how to mirror my TV to my phone. I know I have done this before I factory reset my phone. I have a 2016 Samsung Smart TV and it shows up in Smart View but only allows me to view my phone on the TV not mt TV on my phone. Anyone else been able to make this work or am I really making this up? Thanks!
Maybe this can help you

Figured it out. It is in the Samsung Connect app. Click my devices. Then click on your smart tv. Then click the ellipses (menu dots) in top right corner. Then scroll down to View TV on Phone.
Hi can someone please help me find this?
Samsung made so many changes I can't keep up and I can no longer find this super cool feature. I could watch TV on my phone and now I can't find it for months.
2016 Samsung TV
Samsung Galaxy S8+
Need to mirror TV back on my phone. Option was there but now missing.
Smartview is a redundant mirroring app for inages and videos..
Update:
I found it. As of Feb 2019 it's hidden deep within the new Smart Things app. (Not the classic). Open app - tap on devices in the middle of the lower bottom row - find your TV , if not there then you must add , TV and phone must be on same wifi of course - tap on TV - hit top right 3 dot button - choose show TVon Phone! Voila!
Is there a way to screen cast mirror cast like the Samsung phone does the 5play seems to not be doing it.
Also what's with the Kodi crashes on start up
I've used a regular old Google Chromecast and it worked very good for both casting YouTube and screen-mirroring. The aspect ratio makes it hard to mirror the screen properly but it worked.
I had it done but I forgot about the post after looking into it there's a YouTube vid out with the code you have to copy and paste same thing with s6 edge after rooting it get disable it's a folder you copy paste it in.
New to Chromecast, and Autocast. Been searching online with great difficulty, so I figured I'd ask here.
I have autocast unlocked, tasker, chromecast , and an unrooted LG Stylo 4 (I know, I know!) Is it possible to have the phone in screen mirroring, automatically launch an app like youtube in casting mode, then automatically return to screen mirroring upon exiting the app? Example.
1 Start on device Home screen mirrored.
2 Tap YouTube icon, device automatically screen
casts to television (I've noticed less skipping and improved volume when casting manually from the YouTube app)
3 I slip into my momentary adorable cat video coma.
4 I regain consciousness, and decide I've had enough YouTube, and exit app.
5 Device notices this, and automatically returns to screen mirroring.
Any information would be appreciated.
Would like to mirror my Note 5 to my Samsung 4K TV.
Since have never done anything like this Googled and found "How to Set Up Screen Mirroring on Your Samsung TV" mentions "...Casting and screen sharing to a Samsung TV requires the Samsung SmartThings app"
Checked Play Store and found "SmartThings" read some bad comments like "...This app has existed for years now, and it's still filled with problems and lacking functionality compared to its still marked classic app".
Only want to mirror to a tv so maybe a USB to HDMI cable is easier and better? Am guessing a cable would be faster but have not found any tests.
Am open to all suggestions.
