My Lumia 635 is locked to AT&T. The phone does not have a contract, so I am eligible to unlock it from the AT&T website but there have been some issue with teh site, and my unlock request is still being processed for a long time.
So is there any way to hack/unlock it so that I can use it in a locked sim network for free?
Thanks
BUMP
It needs about 6-7 days

If I purchase the MetroPCS version of the Lumia 521, would I be able to use Nokia Suite to download and install the T-Mobile version of the firmware? Are the firmware locked to the carrier-specific devices?
Product codes (sincde I can't link to the site that lists them):
059T039 RM-917 VAR NAM US METROPCS WIRELESS <- I'd like to buy this one because it's cheaper
059S0B4 RM-917 VAR US T-MOBILE SL <- then upgrade to this one

You should be able to swap firmware, but you still might have the issue where you need an unlock code to use a t-mobile SIM, as that's usually hardware locked. I can't say for sure as I don't own a 521 and know if they are pre-unlocked.
I debranded my 521 with code 059s000, and the SIM Lock is still active.
The answer to your question is no, buy the T-mobile one because you can request unlock code when you meet all their criteria. Getting a Metro PCS phone and the code from Metro PCS is probably tough if you are not a customer.
There still isn't any unlock services that is cheap on the 521. Until that happens, you probably want to get the T-mobile one.

Is that just carrier unlock or carrier subsidy unlock? I'm not too keen on the IMEI unlock scenarios.

I thought SIM Lock is all there is? The 521 is cheap enough to be a prepaid phone so I don't think there are subsidies.

I just recently found that out. Its an unlock to switch from something like att gophones to att's normal service or Cincinnati bell to att. Its still an unlock, but its probably a subsidiary in the first place.
There are 4 unlock levels and the one other I know of off the top of my head is a corporate SIM lock. Its essentially for locking a device down to one or two issued SIMs an employee might be assigned.

Do you know how to get the pin code of a Lumia 521 t mobile, to be able to use it with another network service provider?

Hi,
I have the AT&T model, stock ROM.
I am about to travel abroad. Called to AT&T to unlock. In the past, as long as I have used the phone for 60 days, that's no problem. However, they said the policy changed 18 months ago and they won't unlock the phone for free until the contract matures.
Is there any way to unlock Moto X for free?
Thanks

Free, no. But for somewhere around $10 to $20 you should be able to get it unlocked from any of the online merchants selling "SIM-Unlock" codes.
You will need a NON-AT&T Sim. When you place the NON-AT&T sim in the phone, it will prompt you for the unlock code. You will enter the code provided by the online merchant, and if correct, it will be unlocked and you'll be all set.
Several users have reported success, but a few have reported that the code provided to them did not work. All you can do is try.
WARNING: If you enter an incorrect unlock code too many times, it triggers a LOCK-OUT and the phone will be permanently locked to AT&T and you will never be able to unlock it.
Good Luck
Hello,
my father bought a SIM locked Lumia 925 by accident at eBay...
The problem is, the SIM is locked by a provider from a other county...
Does someone know a way to unlock the device without paying more money then it is worth to?
If i go on and order an GoPhone and unlock it with the help of AT&T, will i have to pay monthly fees or will i be tied to them? Will i be able to put any sim card and use it like any other unlocked phone or is there some kind of a catch?
Thanks in advance.

Once it's unlocked that's it, any SIM will work. There are no 'charges' or contract with AT&T, unless you put in an AT&T sim card.
A word of warning, do NOT put the AT&T SIM card in if you want to unlock it. Doing so will register you on their network and then you'll be stuck with having to pay to stay on their network till you qualify for unlocking. Just leave the GoPhone alone, go to their unlock page, enter your data, wait for the code, THEN insert non AT&T SIM into the GoPhone, enter the unlock code, and you're good to go (pun intended).
If you want to use T-Mobile then also go see the unbranding thread and switch it to a T-Mobile ROM. I did that with mine, formerly an AT&T Lumia 640 LTE GoPhone now a T-Mobile Lumia 640 LTE, no problem.
