Hey all,
I figure this is probably a dumb question, but I'm looking for a way to swap my soft key menu and back buttons.
I just switched from CM to Stock so I could use Project Fi, and I'm missing that much more than expected.
I saw a flashable zip that will switch them, but it doesn't work on 5.1.1 (probably should have read that before trying it....)
Any luck with doing this? What are the ramifications of making this change in regards to getting OTA updates?

Try Pure Nexus ROM. Has those options built in and is optimized for Fi.

If your phone is rooted, use ultimate dynamic navbar. Search xda for apk. With that app, you can customize it the way you want.

Maybe I should make a new thread for this, but I'll give this a go first (for less clutter).
I used pure nexus. Totally amazing rom, love it. Got the new version, (this one has a new custom settings option), but I can't find the option for the soft keys. Maybe it isn't implemented yet, but I thought I'd ask incase I was just blind.
Thanks!

Thanks to Android Revolution for providing the nandroid backup of his T-Mobile Note, here's a complete stock, rooted, deodexed, zipaligned ROM. I'll look in to releasing a modified framework-res.apk later that adds SIP calling settings and modifies the auto-brightness levels. If no one else does it first, I'll probably look in to adding the extended power menu to make it easier to reboot in to recovery and maybe see if we can get the 15 toggles mod that works on many AT&T roms working too.
I didn't remove any apps, so if you know there are things you don't want, feel free to open the zip and delete things out of /system/app before flashing. Suggestions on what can/should be removed would be great too.
This does not include the modem so flash that separately if you want the latest T-Mobile modem. I'm working off of an AT&T Note so it's easier for me to keep the modems and ROMs separate. tomin.fhl already has that posted for you here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837907
Thank these folks for making this possible:
Android Revolution and all the folks releasing bits from the T-Mobile Note.
www.androidfilehost.com for providing free hosting
electron73 and flappjaxxx for releasing stock-ish AT&T ROMs that were very helpful to me to figure out how to put together the flashable zip
Download: http://beta.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390034591667978483
Mods that work:
I tried a couple of the 15 toggle mods for AT&T Note UCLF6 ROMs and they seem to work as is. If you like the toggles go ahead and try them and be sure to thank the creators if it works.

Edit (09/02): If you're looking for a stripped down version, I've customized the ROM more or less to my liking and have uploaded it for others to use. These are the changes I remember off hand:
Removed:
TouchWiz "stuff" (launcher, widgets, supporting APKs)
Samsung keyboard/TTS (keyboard wasn't working anyway and I don't use it so didn't spend too much time figuring out why)
Most of the wallpapers, including all of the live wallpapers
Some Google Apps (new Play Music/Video, a few others) as they inevitably end up out of date anyway and need to be updated from Play Store. The ones that I left in the system partition have been updated to latest available on Play Store.
Other T-Mobile add-ins (if you actually miss anything that was removed you can grab it from the full stock ROM)
Added to system:
Apex launcher
Hacker's Keyboard
Google Now (from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224)
Edited framework.jar to include the 4-way reboot option to restart in to recovery (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24303020&postcount=13)
Edited framework-res.apk and added in the native SIP calling settings (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109962). Also tweaked the screen brightness when on Auto to be a bit dimmer (based on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1541180).
Added as non-system APKs:
T-Mobile My Account (overlaps a lot with Access T-Mobile, I'd pick the one that works better for you and delete the other)
ES File Explorer
Titanium Backup
Solid Explorer
aLogcat
Chrome
I've been using this build for a couple of days and it has so far been problem free for me. If the camera closes on you after initially loading the ROM, a reboot seems to fix that without it cropping up again. Last thing on my to do list is to look at replacing the T-Mobile tether app (I don't tether too often so it hasn't been a priority). In the future I'm considering replacing the S-Note and S-Memo apps with some of the community/other developer note (Memo/Papyrus/etc) taking apps, mostly in preparation for a jump back to Cyanogenmod ROMs once they gain a bit more stability.

Can i flash this on my rooted att note with sim unlocked?
I never knew that we could remove or add system apps inside the zip and have it flash without any problems. So I could add the cerberus security app? and remove t-mo bloat? then flash via cwm?
I know this is a basic question. Would love a "dummies" answer if possible.:silly:

It works fine on the AT&T Note, that's what I used to test with. Just make sure to use a modem that is modified for i717 since using both the mdoem.bin and amss.bin straight from a T-Mobile Note causes it to run about 10 times slower than normal. I know tomin.fhl, jeet92 and others have different combos that work and I may do a little testing too next week when I get some time. Doesn't look like we can expect any breakthroughs in speed though unfortunately.

Yep, you sure can. I usually make a few changes when I download the zips for other ROMs, like modifying the framework-res.apk first to allow for native SIP calling, then saving it back in to the zip. Other interesting things to do is to add in the Google Now files that were modified to work with ICS so that you don't need to copy them in after a flash.

I'm not too sure about that, but my initial guess would be that it's not possible. Some quick Google'ing came up with UDP ports 500 and 4500 that are used, but that would be set on T-Mobile's servers so having your client try to connect on a different port would result in no connection. Have you asked your IT department if they could work with you to find out what rules could be added to the firewall to allow Wifi calling? I know some companies will install repeaters to help get reception for their employees if they're in a bad area, and this would be an effectively zero cost to them solution.

Hey karryt,
Had a small force close issue with the Samsung Keyboard on your rom. I reverted to my pre-rooted image and it went away. Let me know if you need anything to help smooth out the rom because having a flashable zip would help me out as well.

English UK Locale?
Which language/region locales are included? Might English UK be in this or is it the same as the standard T-Mobile stock? Also, will a T-Mobile Note still work fully on their network with this ROM? I got confused by this radio talk.

I'll take a look at this but might not get to it until next week. I did get those FCs sometimes also, but it was better when I factory reset even when flashing over the same stock image. For now using a different keyboard seems to work fine as a workaround.

This is the same thing as stock, just modified a little to allow theme-ing and flashable via CWM. Looks like it does not have the UK language listed. You can use this ROM on both the AT&T and T-Mobile Notes and it should work just fine. You're not really gaining much if you're already on T-Mobile stock ROM though unless you want to flash mods on top of it.

lots of differences between stock and modded it will take some time to sort out, you can try using that devs modded apk and see if it works for you but make a good backup first
Interesting. I will give it a go later today/tonight and report back. I am digging UR btw.
OK. Played with it a bit. The posted method did not work. I think the best work around, which I have been using for a few days is to use Wanam Xposed. I am unlocking with an NFC using a module from Secure Settings as well. I don't know how possible it is to add this as a feature of a ROM but it would be rad to be able to set it up without the shenanigans. Cheers!
Hi Guys.
I remember on the Nexus 5 people were kind enough to offer flashable zips to reduce the height of the nav bar.
Is anyone able to do this for the N6?
Would greatly appreciate this.
I know that there are a few ROMs that have this in the options. I'm running liquid smooth, and it has this, and so many more customizations on top of it. If you're going to try a ROM, give liquid a try.

Mostly all custom roms have this feature. If I was op I'd just switch to a custom rom because even if someone made the mod (I can do it) then when the next Ota comes it's going to fail because you did system mods and then you're going to wonder why the ota didn't work.
Just make life easy for yourself and flash a custom rom. Find the rom that's best for you not because of what someone offered you. Each rom has their own unique experience. Some may have everything, some may have minimal and just what you need. Depends what you want.

I hear what your saying mate but flashing a rom would mean having to resetup all my apps and everything else.
With a flashable zip i could carry on using my phone without having to redo everything.
When an OTA arrives i would start start from fresh again but life would be easy as i use Titinium Backup to restore apps and data.

You just contradicted yourself, like you said you'd eventually have to redo it anyways since you're invalidating your ability to flash OTAs.

What im saying is i wouldn't have to do the apps as Titanium would store my apps, but not system apps.
When flashing a different rom that is a no no. On stock it isnt a problem.

Titanium can be used to restore user apps on any ROM. In fact that is the recommended course of action. Its not a no no. Only restoring system data is a no no, which you shouldn't do stock or otherwise
Q&A for PopRocks Rom V1: TW Rom Based On Tmo Stock LP Base Cod6
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for PopRocks Rom V1: TW Rom Based On Tmo Stock LP Base Cod6. Congrats on the new rom Mega. I haven't flashed it yet. But, I'm 99.99999999% sure you won't be able to get permissive mode on stock kernel. I've tried odined COD6 stock and a COD6 custom rom (both with stock kernel) and permissive was unobtainable. I then installed Bioshock 3.6 kernel on the custom rom and permissive is enabled by default. So, I'm sure it is a stock kernel issue. I strongly prefer using a stock kernel. So, I am hoping there is some other workaround to permissive mode. I can live without WLD (which needs permissive mode). But, I really really like Viper (which also requires permissive mode to work right.

If your home button is mechanically defective you can use a launcher
like Go Launcher or most any other launcher which has the option to
simulate the home button with swiping or double tapping the screen.
Most all the launchers like apex/go/adw and many others have the option.
Good luck!

You must decide if you want to use Google IncallUI or Samsung InCallUI. Samsung InCallUI will allow too still receive and switch to video calls and the google IncallUI will only support HD calling. To switch to google IncallUI goto settings/applications click on default applications choose calling app and click on the blue phone app. To switch back to samsung IncallUI is a little more complicated. You will need an app like root explorer and goto data/system/users/0 and then findthe setting_secure.xml and delete and then restart phone. This will restore samsung IncallUI as default
You will also want to turn edge features off since everthing is deleted
Also you need to goto SuperSU app and goto settings and click on enable su during boot and also click trust system users
Goto this thread and under Recommended Next Steps find the S7_or_S7Edge_Fixes_V15.zip or latest version and flash to fix kernel lage and doze fix.
Goto setting/about phone
Click on build number 5 times to enable developer options
Change animation and duration scales to .05 this will speed up phone
You will also have to change charging/file mode from within developer options
Remember Wiping Dalvik cache will cause phone to take up to 10 min to boot on deodexed roms
If using samsung IncallUI here is a fix for call phone FC and also location service fix

I didnt mean for my reply to come across rude. I just thought since the OP looks like the other one you thought it was the same. This is basically nothing but a bootable rom with like 5 apps installed thats it there are over 180 running apps removed. I kind of thought it would be cool to be able to build your rom how ever you want it without having to worry about what you can delete and what you cannot. I appreciate the support especially on new development. Understand I have many threads and and other devices so i sometimes keep my answers short and direct especially when using the mobile app which I hate using.

Ok, that is what I thought. I just was trying to determine if there was anything else major missing from that other ROM, knowing some apps would have to be pulled or installed, hence your "Playstore" moniker for this ROM. Ok, this is a good clean base ROM for those who like to order "a la carte" down the road when the need for other features are required. I may give it a spin for the fun of it.
Cool! We are good.
sweet idea
Inb4 crazy high battery stats
Just finished flashing about 4 minutes ago. Still suck on the white SAMSUNG logo. Is this normal?
UPDATE: Took like 8 minutes to boot. Runs fine.
Downloading now. Been waiting for something like this. Cheers.

I'm using the Google incall with no issues at all. Probably no need to flash if that's what you're using.
So far the ROM is nearly perfect.
Having some MMS issues again. It only works when Wifi is turned off or not connected to a network.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I even flashed your fix it ZIP.
Hey I'm considering installing this ROM because I live the minimalism of it. How's the performance? Anyone mind posting an AnTuTu score?

I actually found one of the battery saver apps to be causing the issue. I think it was amplify through xposed, it caused the mobile data to turn off when connected to wifi. So, i turned it off and haven't had an issue since.
