Spint Spark? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is the first phone I've had that is compatible with sprint spark. I'm in a spark area, but I don't see the sprint spark Icon. I just see the regular lte symbol. Do you guys see the spark symbol?

thank god they got rid of that icon. if your in a spark area your using it.

Was the Icon that terrible?

you know what the logo looks like when you boot the phone? the spinning like star. that is what was up top spinning the whole time.

HTC Vivid Antenna Help. I Get Bad Signal i get 3bars of LTE but it slow Data like 5MB DL I got better Signal & Speed using 4G non LTE I don't know how to explain this but I can get 5Bars or 4Bars of LTE almost everywhere in my area except where I live and a few more street's. Can I try something like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863590 ?
I really doubt it would do you much good and I dunno if there's even anything like it for the vivid. What kind of case are you using? What ROM/kernel setup are you using? Are your APN settings correct?

I did that already tho
Should get a yr warranty , call att they will help ya get a replacement
Try switching back to normal 4G instead of LTE and see if that does anything for you. It's just APN settings, so you can set up both and switch between them for comparison.
Could it be your location?

If you are getting 4-5 bars "almost everywhere in my area except where I live," then it might be logical to assume that you are in a "dead zone." Radio signals go in a straight line. I live in a hilly area. When I drop into a valley driving home, I lose my call signal. It returns as soon as I get to the top of the hill. Similarly, I get a very poor signal at my work location (1st floor interior office), but I can step outside (100 feet away) and get a good signal. You simply are not going to get full strength signals in every single location.

4G LTE Indicator?

I just got the phone a while ago and u wonder, does it support the WiMax bands? Because I do get 4G occasionally but a speedtest shows it to be incredibly slow.
If possible could anyone on Sprint screenshot when they know they're on LTE and show me?
Thank you!

No you don't get a Wimax signal. The HTC's radio is not capable of this. As far as I know, neither is any other LTE phone. But you don't have much to lose. Sprint is expected to shut down its WiMax by 2015 (or something) and I've read it wasn't much good either. Sprint is just starting to roll out its LTE. I'm supposed to get it in August. I'm waiting. It should be worth it.

Any idea why I'm getting extremely slow speeds then?
At home I get blazing speed on LTE.. At work (4 min away) I get 3g but when I walk around the building I can sometimes connect to LTE but its very very slow.

Do you have any speed test results?
I have a great signal near a friends house and my upload is around 10 and my download barely increases.

You might be in an area where 4G isn't fully implemented and just experimental. I work in NY and they never officially announced that they deployed LTE here. I do connect to 4G LTE outside my office but speed tests only show like 1.5 - 2 mb at best, even with full bars.

Basically how it rolls. There's a few towers in my area that are sporadically transmitting LTE, but if you try to use actual data it'll kick you down to 3G (which would likely contribute to your low speeds).
Yeah this is my current situation as well. I might get a 4G signal, but it's like 1 maybe 1.5 down. Most of the time I'm on crappy 3G, with speeds of 0.1 mbps.
Sprint rep said August.... I can only hope.

It would be cool if sprint implanted lte signal bars the same way wimax does!

It's not just sprint. HTC phones report signal this way. Cyanogenmod reports signal differently, and other manufactures report signal differently also.
but it's ok to eat fish cause they don't have feelings.....
Given that there's no standard for "bars" with data signals, that's fine with me. I'd like a statusbar widget though that reported that kind of info.
If you want a standard, use the "text" setting. It displays the signal strength in dBm

HTC One International H+ Icon

Hi,
I've recently got a HTC One using the Three network which is great, however the only thing is that when it is using Hspa+ it still only says H, it would be really useful to have a H+ icon. Does anyone know of a solution? if they do that would be great.
Many thanks,
Sam
If I'm right, we don't have that icon. H+ is included in H on the international version.
I believe that t-mobile has it though.
Ah, it's a shame HTC didn't include that. Is there any mod that could correct this without root or would I have to root?

Sprint Spark indicator?

When you are on sprint spark, theres no way to now its sprint spark, or just LTE? like no icon change?
and with that being said, way to check if that spark band is on?
you should have that little spinning thing in the top right side of your status bar when you are on the Spark Network..at least thats how it was on my old Sprint One Maxx...

[Q] No more 4G

In Oak Ridge, TN I was getting 4G LTE with my EVO 4 LTE, but with the M8, only 3G. 4G has been here since last summer, although it is not on Sprint's map (what good is an inaccurate map?).
The local Sprint store said this would happen, but I do not understand why. Doesn't the new phone have all the bands of the old one?
Is the M8 a sprint spark device? If so, the newer sprint spark(tri-band LTE) devices rely on the surrounding towers to have a technology called Circuit Switch Fallback (CSFB) to quickly fall to 3G for text and calls. If your towers do not have this, the phone will stay in 3G only to make sure you can still receive those. To test if this is your problem, try enabling LTE-only mode on your device (not sure how to do this, do not own the M8) and see if it connects. If it does connect to LTE, this is your problem, and the solution is to just wait it out.

I feel your pain man. I'm in Maryville and the same thing has happened to me. Been spoiled on 4G for almost a year now. Is your 3g a little spotty too since getting the m8? Mine randomly loses signal altogether.

Mine randomly loses 3g. Solution is to actually put the phone in cdma only mode. My phone wants to connect to lte and when it can't it disconnects and goes to 3g. I'm in sevierville

Strange, I've had a totally different experience in Orlando. I've received similiar or better 4G service and even connected to Spark in some areas of town. Could it be something with the network in your area?

So crazy that they've not fixed the towers with the circuit fallback yet. I remember when the g2 came out this area was experiencing this, but i figured it'd be fixed by now.

The Oak Ridge store said the same thing, but I disbelieve it. Sprint should not charge extra for high-speed data if they cannot deliver it.

I did not pay it on my HTC Hero, which was a smart phone, but not LTE. The store told me it was for phones with LTE.
I also have a framily plan. I have no fees added to my bill.

I asked about this in the One Max forum but this one seems more active. Is there a way/setting to allow this phone to use LTE for now, like my Note 3 does, until Spark is fully implemented, or has Sprint in their infinite wisdom decided that it can only do Spark or 3G?
I can sort of understand why they didn't include the 4G WiMax and LTE antennas in phones when that switchover was made, but Spark is just the capability of using three LTE radios together. Since the LTE radios are there, I would think/hope that it's possible. Or am I missing something?

Spark phones do not have svlte radios which is simultaneous voice and LTE. This means it can run LTE and 3g at the same time. Phones that aren't spark do this. Spark phones rely on towers that csfb since this tells the phone when to switch back to 3g to get a call or text. If its not there it stays on 3g so you don't miss your calls

In a way this is retrogressing. I dont see why Sprint doesnt just pass the CDMA stuff onto the LTE network.. It wouldnt be that hard....
I have the same problem in the twin cities I either get Spark or 3G but never regular LTE. Spark is not even close to being fully deployed here so it sucks. Spark is awesome though 30+ mbps

Voice over LTE is planned in the future for them but it requires upgrades to towers to support it.

If you happen to never get 4G in areas you previously did, Sprint may have f_cked up on activation. More specifically, they may have an incorrect UCID (SIM number) I had this problem and after a while, it dawned on me, it was possible that they messed up. Maybe that'll help someone out!?
