I've seen numerous posts about the all mighty XT1250 and how's it rootable and unlockable, but I can't find a single post giving details on how to root it. I've searched the forums, the web, I can't find anything specific to the XT1250. Could someone point me on the right direction please? Do I just need to follow a tutorial for a XT1255? Thanks in advance!

Same advice as for XT1225.
UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER FIRST, by using the Motorola website.
Then root using the XT1225 stuff.

You can also try this toolkit, but all the other people who unlocked and rooted the XT1250 that I talked to unlocked through Motorola, installed TWRP, then rooted.
[TOOL] WinDroid Universal Android Toolkit | Unlock | Root | Flash | Moto Maxx

Be sure to use the recently updated TWRP in the development section.

install twrp and when you try to exit, it will ask to root.

That would brick a 1254, which does not yet have a bootloader unlock.
If still on kit kat, you can use moforoot.
Just got my xt1250. Will try this. Thanks.

Is the Moto XT1097 with the android version 5.1 able to he downgraded. Thanks for any kind of answers at all. Been looking at different sites and all kind of tutorials. Still haven't found any answer to my questions. Thanks in advanced.
Here is my riddle?
I got a moto XT1097 bought from at&T in America with the 5.1 android version. How do I root it? Is it worth to even downgrade to try and root it that way . I know for a fact the boot loader cannot be unlocked. OEM Is one that can not be unlocked. Thanks for any advice, help, anthing at all. Been wracking and researching away to root it and all of my roads lead to a headache.
The AT&T xt1097 cannot be unlocked. You can root with MOFO if an updated 5.1 image has been made for your device. Since your device cannot be unlocked, you cannot downgrade.

Thanks. I do not have the 5.1 image for my device at all. When I bought the phone it was updated on the spot. I know for sure right now these versions are not rootable. Guess I am going to have to wait or root. Thanks for the help.

How can I get root?
well i wanted to do the same as you. after unlocking the bootloader i wanted to root the phone but used a tut for an older version of android. I got in a bootloop and i fixed it by flashing original .img files on the device. Then i was running on 5.0 lollipop. So if you really really want that root acces, i would say downgrade your android version after unlocking the bootloader and then flash the files from motorola. Then follow a tutorial for android 5.0 for XT1092
i have an unlocked verizon moto x 2nd generation. can i get official motorola 6.0 update? is there any way?
thanks
im from pakistan so i wont be using verizon.
Which model do you have?
AT&T - XT1097
T-Mobile - XT1095
Verizon - XT1096

Motorola and Verizon have stated that they will not update the XT1096 to MM or 6.x so there is no "official" Marshmallow firmware from Motorola for this phone.
You can find an 99% stock MM ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/rom-xt1096-verizon-flashable-stock-rom-t3327345. Please read the full thread and ask questions there about this ROM. Some people - including me - are using it as their daily driver with little to no issues. This ROM has all the Motorola apps (Voice, Display, etc.) working as expected from a stock ROM.
Another option CM13. Read this thread :http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/orig-development/rom-official-cm-13-0-nightly-releases-t3256580/post65781867#post65781867. CM13 works on the XT1096 and other CM13-based ROMs should work but you will need to verify by reading their threads. Please be sure to read the full thread and ask questions there about CM13 or in the other threads related to other ROMs.
This is assuming that you are on the Verizon network and want to keep CDMA functionality. If you are using this phone on a GSM network and do not care to keep the CDMA access then you might want to look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-xt1097-to-xt1095-nextel-t2972693
All of the options above require that you have an unlocked bootloader. If your bootloader is locked please go here to learn about unlocking it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/motorola-unlocking-verizon-moto-x-2014-t3291104
Please read and learn as much as you can. Most - if not all - of your questions will be answered by reading through the threads listed.
XT1085
Hello everyone,
I'm currently using the moto X 2nd generation bought in china (XT1085) running android 5.0.2.
I would like to get rid of the retcn version of the system because I don't speak chinese for a retEU or retUS and install android 6 MM. Is it possible?
My phone is rooted and TWRP recovery installed
I tried to install this version : Version 6, because one guy wrote on the topic that it worked on TX1085 but it failed for me, and my phone stayed on the Motorola launching screen.
So now I'm back with the factory setup and would like to now how to install android 6.0?
Thanks

How to unlock Motorola Moto X 2nd gen. bootloader?
Hey Guys! I have a locked motorola moto x 2nd gen, verizon variant (xt1096). I want to unlock its bootloader for upgrading to marshmallow (6.0), tried to unlock through Motorola's website, but my phone's not eligible for it. So is there any other way to unlock bootloader.
Please forgive my dumb question. I'm just wanting to make sure I don't brick my phone. What can Mofo flash onto my Turbo? Can it do ComputerFreak274's 1.3.0 and such? I've read a buch of stuff, and I just don't have a solid answer.
Thanks,
NJ

Mofo isnt used anymore. The latest lollipop update SU44 can have its bootloader unlocked via the sunshine app, which you can install TWRP and flash SU and any Moto Maxx rom, including computerfreaks
Good answer above. To add more information, once your bootloader is unlocked via Sunshine and you have TWRP installed, here's all the goodies you can have.

Hi all. I'm not sure if I should post this here as well, but I just wanted to make sure that anyone who does not know that they can use the ROMs for the Moto Maxx for their Droid Turbo is able to do so (with an unlocked bootloader of course).
Here is the link to the one that I am maintaining:

If most people already knew this, then please ignore it. I just wanted to make sure those who weren't aware got the chance and knowledge. I'll try to post a complete list, but please forgive me if I leave something out.

Add to that a custom kernel:
[Kernel][All Quark]BHB27-Kernel[5.1.1][6.x.x][CM base ROM's]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx/development/kernel-bhb27-kernel-t3207526
The discussion threads for various ROMs, TWRP, kernels are found in this Droid Turbo forum as well as the other Quark forum:
Motorola Moto Maxx
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-maxx
All the Quarks shared one forum until end of last September 2015. But the forums were split because the Droid Turbo bootloader was still locked down at that time and there was no real root, no TWRP for that one Quark. Whereas, the other Quarks had active dev work. Then two months later in November 2015, the Sunshine exploit became available and the Droid Turbo XT1254 could join the dev party! :good: So, you have to go back and forth between to two forums to find all the stuff.
The CM dev graciously created a duplicate thread over here, when it was removed the first time due to the split. But still most of the real dev discussion happens over in the other forum.

Use the techniques in this post -- but of course you want Droid Turbo 4.4.4 firmware, which you can download from many, many locations.
How to Manually Official Firmware on any Motorola Device
http://forum.xda-developers.com/dro...force-how-to-manually-flash-official-t3282077
or this. Same guy, @Jaocagomez:
[Tutorial] How to Flash Different Official Firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/help/tutorial-how-to-flash-official-firmware-t3074724
FIRST, you need an unlocked bootloader. Is your bootloader unlocked? If not, then you need to buy/use Sunshine.
These instructions work for all Moto phones with unlocked bootloaders. (He says it's not for the Droid Turbo 2, because their bootloader was never unlocked. In the 2nd thread he says it's not for the Droid Turbo, but he wrote that before the Droid Turbo was unlocked.)
@Jaocagomez previously owned a Quark then moved on to Kinzie. He helped me get my second XT1225. He wrote a lot of the early dev stuff for our phones, but that was back then the Droid Turbo was still locked down. Doesn't matter, these instructions work for all Quark, Kinzie with unlocked bootloaders.
Do NOT flash GPT.BIN. Leave that off. He even mentions that in the Q&A. You can downgrade to earlier OS version, but you cannot downgrade bootloaders. You try to flash GPT.bin and you will either brick your phone or be in never ending bootloop.
