I have had my nexus for a few months now. I have had this problem over 4 replacement phones and 2 different sim cards. I cant find anything anywere so i figured i would ask the pros. Here goes.
When in a call the person i am talking to will hear a bang or gunshot like sound, then i will be silent for 10-15 seconds. I can hear them talking after this, but they cannot hear me. It is kind of like i am on mute. After those 15 seconds I am able to talk to them again.
I have talked to verizon about this and they put in 2 network tickets and both are resolved with no luck for me. My wife has the same phone and does not have this problem. I have not rooted or played with anything. I did factory reset it without pulling my apps back in and it still did it. I thought maybe an app was trying to hijack the radio.
has anyone heard of this or experienced it before? Motorola just wants to replace the phone again and again. I am at a loss here.

Well this is Bionic #2 for me and I am still having bad luck.
Bionic #1 had a defective WiFi adapter and my Motorola Rep swapped it out.
Bionic #2 is giving me issues with the microphone and I was looking to see if anyone had any ideas.
For the first 24 hours I had the new phone I was talking on it and all was good. Then all of a sudden people were saying "Hello....You There?" and what not becuase they couldnt hear me.
But when I turn the phone onto Speakerphone, they can hear me fine. As you can imagine this is a PITA to have to put all your calls on speakerphone. I have been using my bluetooth headset also and that works but still I don't get what the issue is.
Occasionally the microphone will turn on for a few minutes and work then it goes back to its old tricks.
I have it flashed back to stock and that didn't do anything either.
Does anyone have any other suggestions that I can try?
I haven't experienced the issue you're having but I did exchange my first Bionic because people said the voice quality was horrible when I was talking. My new phone seems to have the same issue. Surprising because a lot of people are raving about the sound quality. When I turn the LTE off and use 3G everyone said it sounds clearer.
This isn't the best advice, but I had to exchange the bionic 3 times, and now I finally have one that works. So, if you still can, exchange it.
Yeah I got the phone for free from a Motorola Rep and I kinda feel bad having him replace these phones but it's hard to talk business on speakerphone in front of other people. Hard to complain about things that are free but I sold my TBolt once I got the Bionic. So now I'm all in with Motorola I guess.
I am assuiming that he is going to send this one back to the "lab" as he says, so if something happens with it and I hear back I will post.
Stange enough I un-rooted and went back to stock again after going to the Th3ory 1.2 ROM and the mic started working for about 4 hours today and then crapped out again.
Part of me just thinks there is something wrong with the software but I am stumped.
Hi guys & gals
My boss bought his mother an S4 (she's in her late 80's).
He says that everytime he tries to call her in the morning it goes straight to voice mail. So the one morning he went to her house, tried to call her there, didnt work, he then made a call to himself, it worked, then he called her, and then only it worked.
has anyone ever come across something like this, where the phone seemingly goes 'dormant' and wont accept calls unless you make one first?
i've tried google, and cant find anything like this or remotely like it.
i have an S4 myself and have never had this problem.
the only thing i can think of to solve it is to update to 4.2.2 - maybe that will solve this unknown problem - but i'd still like to know what the problem is.
Yes, my S4A does this occasionally. At some point it'll stop accepting calls until you make a call on it. Even if there's great service. I also wish to know what might cause this. It's very irritating, particularly since there's no way to know it's happening unless someone tells you they tried to call you and it went to voicemail. You could be missing calls and not even know it.
For the past couple months I have been experiencing a weird issue when using my note 4. When I'm talking on phone it sounds like someone is pushing a number to dial. But the person I'm talking to can't hear the button being push.
You probably have minute reminder on. Go to settings>applications>call>call alerts>uncheck minute reminder

Finally someone else who has experienced this issue!
I always blamed my mother when she called me from the UK or if I called her. I thought perhaps she pushed a key on her phone by accident, but the occurance is often. Now it could be her, I dont know but since you bring it up..
Either way, it also occured on my previous phone the Note 3.
Hi all
More than a month ago I sent my z3c to assistance because the magnetic charger sideburn was unsticking.
It came back a week later with a new one, all was perfect looking. But then a new problem appeared.
In the next days people started telling me that my voice was too weak during calls. I decided to check and have some tests. I found that my the voice at the other side of the call was really too weak and too low, not consistant, with interruptions, and that when i try to activate the speaker, it gets even worse. They can hear a loud background noise and the return of their voice, plus others rumors, with the result that having a normal call is almost impossible.
Since that moment, I already sent my phone twice to the service summing up to 4 times, (the first was this summer for the sim flap which couldn't close). I'm sending them emails every time explaining the problem; once they made an electrical fix, the second time they changed the logicboard, but the problem is still there.
I'd like to know if some of you has or had the same problem and how they fixed it. I asked to change mine with another but it seems like they don't want to.
It's always been stock, i don't think another rom could fix the problem
I want my phone operative... I even had to buy something else in the meantime otherwise i would have been for more than a month without a phone (I bought a OPX )
Thank you for the attention
Anyone?

Hi,

I honestly don't know what the hell could I do...
Thanks
hi
its hard to explain but after an update..not the last one but one before, when on calls does not matter if i make the call or someone calls me, i hear a funny sound the only way i can describe is like a metal door shutting in a warehouse now this at random times and random volume but always get it on every call.
i have never had it before and never had it on any other phone. i am on 3 network and it is unlocked. other then that the phone is still working fine and has been the best phone i had to date but this is really annoying now.
sure i am not the only one with this issue ?
many thanks
Don't stand so close to the warehouse
I'm on EE with the latest update and haven't noticed anything like that, was on 3 with the same update a couple weeks ago and had no issues either

lol funny no really it is happening anywhere. The only idea i had is that i have another sim-card inside from Bulgaria maybe if i take this out and see if there is any changes
I get the same thing on mine, quite frustrating. The other person doesn't hear it. I like your description, it also sounds like a sudden expiration of breath that fades out.

Any solution to this problem?
I have exactly what you describe. Except for the operator. I'm on Telia (Sweden)
