How to remote control nook hd+ tablet from a pc? - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using teamviewer quicksupport to control my sister's samsung galaxy 5 from my pc (200 miles away). Its a great app to assist family/friends who are inexperienced android users. I couldn't get teamviewer quicksupport to install on the nook hd+ (Error package file is invalid) There are many programs that allow the tablet to control the pc, but the reverse is harder to find. There is airdroid, but it doesn't allow you to see exactly what is on the screen. Has anyone here have found such a solution?

Update: I've switched from ART to Dalvik and Teamviewer is able to install. The problem is can't install the add-on that is tablet specific so it still wont run. In the past week I also had problem with facebook and yahoo mail. Switching to Dalvik has solved all these problems. I'm on CM11 M12. Hope that info helps out.

What OS (B&N, CM) and version are you running?

List of working apps on Viewsonic G Tab

Anyone object to starting a list of apps that are confirmed working? I got my Viewsonic GTab yesterday and after spending hours rooting and reading these awesome forums it is starting to get useful. I've been hunting for install packages and had trouble finding a lot of them, but luckily I have a Droid X so I've been able to use the app market on it which has a lot more apps to choose from. Here is the list of applications I can confirm work on my ViewSonic G Tablet.. I'd love to hear what you have and what I should get for it.
Adober Reader
Android Mate
Angry Birds
Auto Memory Manager
Yahoo Fantasy Football
Gmail
Guns'n'Glory
Hearts! Free
Maps
Market
Mortplayer Music <- awesome for mp3's stored on secondary sd card
Pandora
Quickoffice
Robo Defense
Root Explorer
Skyfire
The Weather Channel
Tweetdeck
Google Voice <-- installs, but having problems getting setup complete
Hope someone finds this helpful... This gtab has so much potential, would love to see it get tons of support.
Pocket Legends: pocketlegends.com / android-download
Dolphin HD Browser
Fruit Ninja
Air Controller
Rock Player Universal
Not specifically any apps that work, other than to say that I sideloaded
FBReaderJ
to STOCK 1.01 TnT fw.
(OK I did have a minor contribution.)
Anyways, it'd be nice to list the fw that you're using and any other modifications that you may have made to it when presenting your lists. i.e. any particular extra tweaks that you had to do to get something to work, updating nVidia GPU driver, etc.
I have the zpad rom and I can't get Pocket Legends to run.

Unmound SD, install game. I have that game running on my G Tab w/o a problem
Skype
Skype app downloaded directly from free android apps website works fully on stock firmware with 11-22 update.
This site is prebookmarked in the stock web app. Many items from this free apps site are good working apps, and actually download and install with no STRESS!
Thanks to all who are helping make this tablet better.
More Apps
Kindle
Nook
Yahoo Messenger (not sure about Video App)
Sideloaded the apps via SD card (standard build).
You guys should compile these here: http://wiki.tegratab.com/index.php/Main_Page
Also, there could be lots of other stuff added if someone wants to help.
Wouldn't it be shorter to compile a list of apps that don't work? I'm on CM B4 and every app I've wanted installs. Sometimes you need to unmount SD card or some other tricks but that's a pretty short list.

Yep, I think that you've hit on the best idea, but break down the lists to the various stock(sideloaded apps) and cutom fws(either market or sideloaded) each with thir own section and notations for things that had been tried to get the app to function and the reason why it doesn't if known.
I'll add one.
Google Sky Map. Works - partially. The program doesn't detect the G tablet's compass (listed as a feature on several sites) correctly, so that when you pan down to the horizon it spins. It also doesn't rotate well when panned side to side for the same reason. This happens on all current firmware releases.
Help with loading nook and kindle apps
I purchased the viewsonic tablet on Friday and have been trying all weekend to find a way to get nook and kindle apps on my tablet. Tried a sideloader but to no avail. Please, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
hmmmm....
When I started this thread I had only rooted my G-Tab and installed the OpenGL update. Many applications I tried to install did not work.
Since then I've installed TnT Lite 2.02 using the following thread as guidance:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842004
Most applications I download now work. So yes, it is probably a good idea to list the apps that DON'T work. For all those who have not installed TnT Lite or zPad or something similar, you really are NOT taking full advantage of this tablet. It is freaking awesome... and fast..
Looking forward to what future updates bring...

Just read the threads on adding the android Market...
You'll need root, and then just copy/push (however you want to do it) a few files to your phone (some in system/app, /system/lib, system/etc/permissions and system/framework).
Once you do that and and sign in to your GMail account it's little more than clearing Market data and then force closing it to get access to pretty much the full market. I installed both the Kindle app and the Nook app directly from the android Market.
The information on how is here in these forums.....check this thread

Hey guys
I'm an android Nexus One owner and I recently bought an iPad and, as expected, it is driving me crazy because it is so dumbed down.
I bought it to showcase some website layouts and as a drawing tablet to make mock-up websites while I am out. I use 2, Sketcher and Autodesk Sketchbook Mobile.
Can anyone check these apps to see how they run on a GTab?

Nook app for android - help requested (UK Nook owner)

Hi all,
I'm running Phiremod V5 on my NookColor but am keen to have the Nook app installed (not included as standard in the ROM). Since I'm based in the UK currently I can't install it via the Android Market and searches via Google/AppBrain and the likes seem to point me back there.
Is anyone able to provide me with a copy of the app in a format that I can load from an SD card?
If not, can anyone tell me how to access the Android Market using my PC? I normally use Hotspot Shield to generate a US IP address when buying eBooks so I'm guessing there may be a way of connecting my Nook to the PC using internet connection sharing?
Seems wrong using the Kindle app to read books on a Nook and the Kindle app doesn't do well with the kids books.
Thanks for your help.

Apps not compatible

Is there a way to install apps that say they are incompatible? I tried installing MAX GO, but it says it's incompatible with my NOOK HD+. HBO GO, basically the same app is compatible.
There are a bunch of other apps, like Optimum Cable app that won't install. The weird thing, I used to be able to at least search for them before 2.10, but now they won't even show up in the Play Store.
I have the latest Extras installed to allow other sources and I reran Rooting after 2.10 upgrade, and have Root access. I also tried "Market Helper" app to spoof the tablet, but it seems to have old tablets in the list, like Kindle and Kindle HD.
Thanks.
Not much you can do other than install from other stores like 1mobile.com or Amazon.com or try getting from another device. Most will run if you can get them to install.

[Q] Got some basic Questions

I just bought the chromecast last night, it updated itself.
I see that there only like 5 apps that work with it through
the Chromecast android app.
Are there other apps (developer or google) that can be sideloaded?
-if so, where can i get them?
Do i have to be rooted and/or use flashcast?
I figured there would be a way to play
games through it or have full app support
through android or Chrome Browser.
(Im not a complete n00b with android, ive been in the
android community since the OG Droid- Fascinate- Droid3-
Galaxy nexus, so i should have a grasp at some technical
stuff.)
Thanks in advance!
You cannot use flashcast because you had to have one the original(?) firmware version because it had a vulnerable bootloader. You would have had to root and then block all OTA updates. RemoteCast (Beta) is an alternate app.
need help now ...

Im also having a problem...
So i got it working on my phone no prblem.
My laptop on the other hand, idk.
I installed the windows app and it finds it,
but Chrome Browswer blocks the Extension
and says my computer is not supported...
Its windows 7 64-bit... chrome is updated,
idk whats going on.
EDIT: Its working after the computer did Windows updates... weird but true.
Thanks anyways haha
So what's the point of remote cast? It's the same thing as chrome cast app.... So it seems.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
No no - Remote Cast is a lightweight remote control only for whatever you're casting.
Still in beta, needs to support more apps but very cool for what it is.

HD+ can't install Amazon AppStore nor update Amazon apps

Hi everyone, and thanks to the developers who’ve made the Nook HD/HD+ into a real tablet. I have a 16GB HD+ with CM11-2014-11-12- snapshot- m12 build (Kitkat 4.4.4).
For the past several days, I’ve been unable to update Amazon store App or the apps downloaded from Amazon, except for Kindle, which is thru GAPPS. The “Unfortunately, Package Installer has stopped” message appears, and does so when I try to sideload those apk’s. I’ve uninstalled and tried to reinstall both the Amazon Store App and the Optimum Cable App, with the same message appearing.
In addition, when I try to access Apps through Settings, I get the “Unfortunately, Settings has stopped” message on most apps, and for those that open, I can’t clear the cache. Why is this happening and what’s the solution? I and my 10 yr/old sidekick, Noob, jr would appreciate any help. Thank you for your time.
I reinstalled the operating system and the apps, all is well now.
Now I can't transfer files between the Nook and my Windows 7 & 8 hard drives. There's no connection at all and neither WIN7 nor 8 loaded any USB drivers. Code 28 response by windows. Any advice???
