Hi Mr aspot72
Big thanks for your response
This is my idea & little experience
Thats on the title for NEWBIES
Not for enhanced & huge knowledge like you
Sorry if you misunderstand me
But there are some precisions for post #1
Like all regular users of Os windows we note that
The windows system is slow and give impression that it's satured & tired after several months or year ( - or + )of using it : Odin PC fails ......
Just after a new installation ( like just married hahaha )windows system is faster ,speedy & react quickly plus Odin PC has a big rate of success
Me i trust in ....

Well, my PC is running 8 years now and only once I was forced to reinstall OS, due to virus. I would advise you that instead of reinstalling go for a regular maintenance - defragmentation, clearing cache, disk clean up and switch of PC once every 48 hours. Or to avoid this install Ubuntu. My PC was running nonstop over 90 days without slowing down. With windows its different, but still I wouldn't reinstall OS every 6 months...

:good::good:

Successful Odin Flash Method
It is also best to take the battery out of your phone first, then put it back in and power the phone directly into download mode by holding Volume Down+Home+Power buttons at the same time when flashing anything with Odin. If you don't take the battery out, in some cases no changes will be made to the device. For example, I tried flashing the new OJ4 Modem and Bootloader and every time I checked to see if it was updated nothing happened. Bootloader and modem remained the same until I used the method explained above. Hope this helps anyone trying to use Odin for flashing anything
My Devices:

I still don't see why you need install os again after 6 months?
If your phone isn't being detected in Odin mode, and you have had it working before, here are some steps that can help you on the way.
common issues:
Device Drivers/USB Drivers might be corrupt.
Cable is giving up
temp blocked by some cache/app try reboot computer.
Samsung Kies might be blocking the connection. either kill it fully or Uninstall it.
1. make sure you got proper device drivers if not download Samsung mobile device drivers
2. make sure Samsung Kies is removed/completely shut down (it will still be in the background if you only exit within the app)
3. try different USB cables & USB Ports, some ports might just won't let you use the port normally or its somewhat broken.
4. try another computer (if available)
5.make is being recognized when powered on drivers might have gone corrupt (try re install drivers.), if not your cable is either bad or the connector to the phone might not get contact. this can happen if you somehow succeeded to bend the charging port sometime.
if any of these doesn't work, then there might be other issues.
the last thing is my s4 suffering from ;p
there is either two ways to fix it.
get new flex cable connector.
or try repair it yourself (kind of hard, fried one of my connector since it was damaged)

All my big respects :good: for you Mr laststandingdroid
But I would insist this work for me
when the operating system (windows XP or 7 or 8 ) is old
Odin Flash works normally but no change on mobile phone
But if OS is new ( just reinstalled not old , perhaps 6 months or 2 years i dont know)
There is change on mobile phone
Btw , I noticed that download mode must be obtained by buttons combination
Not with reboot automatically
Regards

sometimes you must uncheck automatically reboot option in Odin this is usually for modem if you flash it separate but can happen on recovery. I have windows 7 on my family computer. had no issues with it either on Vista/7. so if it isn't working drivers has been corrupt. windows wouldn't need to be installed.

Long sentences getting ahead of the facts.
So, your idea for success is to leave data management up to some authentication or other, Google or the phone maker's cloud backup, and periodically flash a new OS?
I know I'd lose saved webpages and some browser settings that way, but it sounds like a dynamic way to operate.
Maybe you should cheer for your phone LTE or GSM carrier's service?
It seems you'd make a list of critical features to search for in a new compatible OS to match first?
At least, if you move to Tizen to make sure that some apps have been ported?
And then, maybe you left out a backup utility with some range that's been helpful?
After that, I'm a little surprised to hear that Odin 4.2 tolerates Win98 or XP...that is, anything under Win7. Particular reports of success are welcome!
It's nice to hear a conversational phrase put directly into writing, but of course it drops some of the vocal accents, and thus (drops) the thread of meaning.
Nothing in connection procedure or TZ/kies2 compatibility was addressed; it doesn't relate to ROM flash success without mentioning those, surely.

try another computer, also make sure you have the drivers installed correctly, even if you think you have , try uninstalling then reinstalling
It's definatly NOT BRICKED
I'm having the exact same problem, really pissed off!!! Tried almost every rom available, wiping data/cache, fixing permissions, installing new drivers, different cable, reflashing kernels, different RILs, tried to connect my old htc legend running cm7 to the computer (which worked just fine..) Really I'm seriously considering throwing away my o2x and getting for example an SII - I'm simply tired as hell of constantly having to flash different roms, kernels, RILS & basebands and yet still always experiencing random bugs. I just want a phone that works. Crappy LG...

as u said ,really same situation...
1. Try powering it off, remove the battery, hold volume down and plug the cable in see if it goes into flash mode. See if the PC detects everything from there, if it doesn't your port might be damaged.
2. Try going into Development and set USB debugging
by the way you should post such stuff in general not dev

On windows go to system panel -> system info -> hardware/device management (I guess you're Italian, so pannello di controllo -> gestione periferiche) and check how windows recognizes the smartphone

Problem making pc to recognize phone.

Hello ppls.
I've read some similar threads about this problem, tried some solutions, didn't worked and they didin't really had my situation.
So lets begin. My phone isn't recognized by my computer of anysort. When i plug the device i get this error: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) .Tried solutions for the error with no succes.
I run Windows 7 64 bit,4gb Ram, Intel Quad Core 2,2 Ghz. I downloaded the drivers for the device from samsung, bummer when i manually try to update the drivers and set the path to where the drivers are it says The device is already up to date, even with online search.
What i've tried so far:
1. Tried in normal condition with KIES. Debugging off.
2. Debuggind on. Same
3. Different PC with windows 7 32 bits, same error, same solutions that don't work
4. Updating .Net framework
5. Installing a program that automaticly detects drivers. It didnt even see it.
6. Checking the cable for corrosion or anything else faulty. Cleaned it even.
7. Yelling are the stupid phone !!
Thank you.

No because i connected succesfully my friends galaxy fit with it, so the cable is not the problem.
thry manualy installing galaxy s drivers on pc?
Uninstall and reinstall the drivers.
Try different drivers.
Make sure you're using a Samsung wrong with the Samsung drivers.
Use a different PC.
Keep trying!
I gave up...I tried everything.Spent hours of searching forums and applying solution, nothing works... Tried On 3 different pc's. 1 with win 7 64bit, and the rest win 7 32 bit. I can't manually install the drivers either. Says there are already up to date when i set a location for the drivers to detect...I can't even use it as mass storage.

To try using different drivers you would need to uninstall the current driver.
And just to be sure, you didn't flash to CM7/MIUI recently, not realizing Samsung drivers won't recognize your phone anymore, right? Nexus S drivers for those ROMs.
Its on the original ROM i think. Recently bought it second hand, 1 year old.
I couldn't find different drivers...except 32 bit and 64bit, but they all are the same version. Maybe post a link or something. Mine are 1.4.4.

Dude i'm not the kinda of guy that doesn't research first. Like i mentioned i tried everything i found with no effect. The thing is, the problem reappeared after a day, with the new rom. Took it back to the service, said its a virus from some apps i installed...Is it possible? Thing is, it worked even after i restored all my apps.
I couldn't change the rom either because neither Odin or Heimdall saw my phone, if that is what you reffered to. If you know how to resoft a phone without the pc recognizing it (not even as a composite USB device in download mode or debugmode) and just Showing in Odin or Heimdall "Unknown Device" and failed at installing ClockworkMod, be my guest and redirect me to the tutorial, or tell me how to do it.
Thx

Throw it against the wall then. You ask us for help, disregard all of it, and then update us on what the service desk told you. If you will only listen to them, then don't ask us, kay? Appreciated.
Hi, there.
Actully, the rahbert's question is not bad. How can i use Mobile Odin if i can't root the device?
Or, how can I root without PC? Is it possible? I have exactly the same problem:
Nexus S (I9020), ICS 4.0.4(stock). When I plug the device: the error is reported(Code 43).
Should I try wipe data/factory reset? I really don't want to do this, because there is another good question: How can I fully backup my data(Titanium and so on) without root access? Can you suggest me something? Thanks.

Computer doesn't recognize the NOTE anymore. (ADB or drive mapping)

My laptop (and other computers I've tried) stopped seeing the note.
When I plug it in it only says charging but I don't see a new device added on Windows.
ADB says waiting for device. If i disable usb debugging a message about MTP comes up upon connection but I don't see any drives mapped in windows at all. Device manager doesn't show any android or untecognized devices.
I tried uninstalling samsung usb drivers and reinstalling them. Nothing helps. I am starting to think I have a hw issue. Anything else you can think of friends?

#$%^@! Samsung USB drivers will be the death of us all.
I experienced something similar the other day: had the standalone drivers installed which worked well, then suddenly stopped for reasons known only to CIA and KGB, I suppose.
This is what helped:
1. uninstalled drivers
2. installed fresh Kies *yecch*
Will give it a try mate. Thanks!

update : things aren't looking good.
I did a full wipe, tried a different kernel and installed KIES.
Nothing helps, the comp doesn't even make that sound when a new usb is plugged in so it doesn't even try to look for drivers or mount it.
Is it really HW issue or can i still try anything ?

Im pretty sure you already tried it but...
I had such a problem once. Turned out that my USB cable was broken, it could only charge but data-lines were inactive. I have no idea if Note uses the same line for both charging and data sync, but maybe it's not the phone - but the cable ?

Hello Dr!
So... i tried flashing ICS via mobile ODIN to try and see if it works - nothing. I tried a full wipe on stock GB - same.
I tried 3 different usb cables, and three comps - same same.
What i did notice now, is that if i keep trying to connect it for 20-30 times, it might work once out of those 30 and next time it won't work again.
hardware right ?
It seems to be hardware only.
But as you have to move to service centre, once make last try to flash using pc odin. N i think, which is requires for warranty purpose too.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Defective/dirty USB socket perhaps?
Could be. I really don't know what to think other than a faulty hardware. I tried blowing compressed air into the usb port. Other than changing the usb port assembly I don't see another way. I am with no warranty as well as I bought it from HK when they just came out and it is my understanding that Samsung only respects the warranty within the country the device is bought.

Compressed air usually unable to remove tar from pin
If you want to clean it, better use cotton soacked with spirit/petrol (after removing battery), as it evaporates rapidly. N let it dry completely.
Any update on your situation, mfractal?
Unfortunately no. I've tried cleaning the contacts but that also didn't help.
Thinking about trying to replace the usb charging port assembly but can't seem to find a dealer that sells it. Also not sure it'll help....

My commiserations, mate.
I still hope you'll sort it out in the end.
Thanks bud. Once I locate that usb port assembly ill try to replace it.

Dude, I too had such an issue earlier, but what I did was, I tried installing an application @ the market named "USB Mass Storage Watcher" and as soon as I installed and configured so, I got my drive identified immediately. May seem pretty noob, but no harm in giving a try....
didn't work.... same as before, only charging.

SGS GT-i9000 fozen on the first boot screen (Galaxy S GT-i9000 SCREEN)

I own a Galaxy S GT-i9000( bought at SFR)
When I connect it to computer I get the prompt that tells to choose between Storage, Kies...
But whatever I choose the computer tells me USB Device not recognised.
Now I was stupid enough to do the following:
I managed to root using Z4root by copying the APK file on external sd .
I got rom manager and updated my recovery.
I updated using the CM10-unofficial rom that is in the development forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775169
The Mobile Network was not working so I did the following
I restored the nand that i did in recovery and now the phone is frozen on the first boot screen (Galaxy S GT-i9000 SCREEN)
Now I can go to Download mode but I can't go to recovery mode.
Let me remind you that my USB data connection is not working. So even though I enter into the Download mode I am not able to use Odin. If you know somthing that I am not doing, let me know.
So now I am looking for a solution that would permit me to flash without USB or allow me to go to recovery mode. Or a tutorial on how to change the usb port myself.
Thanks in advance.

You can try using Mobile Odin.
Also, you can try Heimdall method: https://www.fixmystuff.in/FMS_Forum...-flashing-to-original-rom-using-heimdall.126/
Hey
have you tried to connect it in Download mode??
Need more solutions
Thanks again to all of you that have answered me so fast.
Well I just finished trying all that you suggested.
unfortunately am still at the same point. Whatever I do, whatever drivers am putting in, cleaning inside the USB port with methylated spirit... Not getting Odin or Kies to detect it.
I read somewhere that when the data connection works, I should see the device named Samsung Device even before installing the drivers, but all I am getting is Unknown device. I still went ahead uninstalling and installing the drivers you provided and there is no successful outcome so far.
I still have faith. I have a little knowledge in electronics. I can open my phone and get to the usb port. My problem is I don't get any tutorial on how to replace the usb port. The thing is the connections are very tiny. I can also do with a bypass way that could make me install a 2nd usb port temporarily just long enough to flash the phone.
Or a hardware solution if I have to remove and flash a specific IC in a certain manner.
Thank you in advance.

It doesn't change anything.
Am back to my start point.
Thank you though.
Anything Else?
Does anyone have something else to suggest or I should consider my phone dead?
Look like a quite number of people are having this same issue and haven't got over it.
I just hang on and appeal to all of you cos I know XDA is the best place where I can get a solution.
Lemme know any suggestion... even the ones you are not sure can help. Am willing to do anything.
Thanks again all of you.

<< SOLVED>>AMD RYZEN and Odin Problems?

Ever since I built my new PC running Windows 10 64 bit I can't get Odin to work. The phone connects in download mode but will not flash, it just fails with no error other than fail. I have a ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F mainboard with a AMD Ryzen 3 cpu. I know it isn't a windows issue because I can run Odin just fine on the other three Intel PC's running Windows 10 here and the bios. drivers and OS are all current. Oden is 3.13.1. I'm thinking it might be this mainboard but I would like some input before I purchase another. The thing that is puzzling me is the computer runs everything else but Odin just fine and that makes me think it might be a compatibility issue with the Ryzen cpu in general. Hopefully someone here can shed some light on this.

Have you tried a different USB port (in the back of your pc) and/or cable?

Yes, stock cable, aftermarket one and I've tried all the ports, USB 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1. No hubs either, just strait to the computer. I've been trying different things for about a month to no avail. Even Smart Switch works fine.

Ok that's odd I have the exact same issue on Intel board. My laptop cost almost 3k pounds so it's one of the best on the market.
Yesterday I got the new Odin and it don't even show my phone as connected which is wired.
I have been using this phone before with this laptop so I am thinking it's a flawed version of Odin going around.
I haven't yet tried an older version of Odin but it use to work in the past so I can't see why it should fail now but have you tried a previous version of Odin yet ?
Edit :
I use my phone and laptop daily with file transfers and I use PDAnet+ which I have used for years and they all work fine no issues as well so it's most likely Odin version.
I remember wired Chinese writing poping up when I first start the new Odin 3.13.1 so it might be a bugged leaked version.
Do you have the same Chinese text pop up on start ?

I thought the Chinese text was weird too. I did just try to Odin back to 7.1 with version 3.12.5 and still get the same error. At least it's not confined to AMD I guess.
EDIT: It doesn't even verify the files after the md5 check just before flashing, it just fails.

Firstly,
i have used the Odin 3.13.1 with the " Chinese writing" pop up. a few times now and again to flash Oreo. No issues, works fine for me.
Secondly,
Just a thought / test.?
Have you tried connecting
to the phone ADB .
If you run ADB cmd "ADB devices"
it will tell you " listed devices etc"
My point is it pc Win 10 recognizes that it sees a Android device, surely the correct version of Odin should also.? If not then you can accept that why Odin
does not see your devices.?
I might be off course but......sorry if but, it's
just a thought.?

Well at least your phone is seen by the software. I don't even get the little green box to show my phone is connected.
Only sign I get from connecting to pc is the sound of connection and the data transfer are available as I can see and surf my sd cards on pc side.
I am a bit busy lately so I'll mess about with it when I get time.
I tried flashing Oreo via Odin, it just didn't work. I saw there was an update (not oreo) for my phone, Ive only just got it back after a month but, when I tried after the ota update Odin worked for me.
Maybe that will resolve ypur issue?

I ordered a different brand mainboard with a different chipset that will be here tomorrow. Hopefully it fixes the issue. If it dose I'll try to RMA this ASUS board and then sell it. Things were intermittent with the Pixel 2XL I had at the time I built this PC but I brushed it off as a problem with the phone. We will see what happens tomorrow.
Hey guys....i had the "failed" message too and fixed it by changing the com port number to com port 1 in my experience i've seen times where phone software will only work on "low" com port numbers....Try that...the basics of the steps are to open device manager on pc with phone connected in download mode (to see the modem device to change its com port), in device manager locate the modem and click Advanced tab then Advanced Port Settings and change the port number to 1 or 2.
After that reboot both devices Pc and reboot phone to download mode.
Has worked for me with Note 7 and Note 8 when faced with same error in Odin.

Thanks for the the tip. I was able to change the port but it still fails. I'm out of ideas at this point. If I do need to use Odin my wife's laptop works fine for now.
I wonder if it's got something to do with one of the bios settings...

First off I was wrong, it was not my mainboard. I did end up replacing it yesterday to no avail so now the new board is on it's way back to Newegg . I tried again this morning with my PC after flashing back to 7.1 and back to Oreo via the laptop. The first time failed with the same cable and files from the laptop. The second time it finally worked on my PC. The thing I tried different was using the USB 3.1 port with a USB 3.0 to USB C from my old Pixel phone. Download mode ended up on com 17 but everything flashed good. The only thing I really did different was try the last cable I had. I already tried the same port along with the many others on this machine with every other cable including the original besides the one that now works. Go figure . Anyway thank you all for the help, I do appreciate it.

That's too funny. I'm glad it worked out for you too and it didn't cost you $40. It's all good.
I have that problem with ryzen cpu.
