Hi all. I purchased a new Note 4 last week (N910T3). I was pleasantly surprised when I booted it up and saw it was on 5.1.1 and how smooth it ran and how nice the camera was. Now, after years of using a Nexus 4, in which I ran CM12 nightlies on daily w/Xposed, I was expecting to root and push a ROM. Now I am wondering can I just gain Root and use the stock rom so I can install Xposed? If not which ROM would be most similar to stock 5.1.1? I'd like to keep the stability and flow of the stock ROM but add Xposed and uninstall all the bloat I can. I am a big user of Greenify (which isn't great w/o root) and Adaway. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Xposed framework and the modules it uses will not work unless the rom
is deodex and rooted. It will not work on stock firmware even if it's rooted.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Thanks Mister! Starting to sink in slowly. Root, Deodex ROM, then Xposed

Is this possible? Currently running CM11 with those features (and s-off), but would prefer going back to the latest stock if it is possible.
Also, it seemed to me that the stock camera did a lot better with the purple camera problems than CM 11 seems to. I probably should have tried to RMA it or something, but at this point I'd rather just see what the M9 does, and if I can get root/xposed/tether on stock there... though it seems as if stock + tether is really a PITA lately.
The latest stock ROM is Lollipop which does not have xposed working at this time. Plus, I'm not sure if you can get (free) tethering working on a stock ROM. What you really need to look for is a Sense based custom Kit Kat ROM that has working tether. It won't be stock rooted, but it will be close and you'll have tether and can add xposed if it's not included.
Thanks! I figured as much. Xposed might be updated soon for Lollipop allegedly.

Apparently there is an "alpha" version out that works decently well if you want to try it.

Well there is only 1 ATT based rom to choose from and 2 ports on the 5.0 right now. I am running TMS5 v2.1 and love it. I get great battery life (depending if i'm playing games on the phone or not). IMO alliance and Twi5ted are a little buggie. I've ran both and am in no means putting them down cause they both are great but i guess because they are ported to the ATT phone you will run into problems here and there with them. Here's a link to TMS v2.0. To get the v2.1 you'll just have to ask someone which page it is on because it was never put in the OP cause its not a full rom, just an update.

Awesome, good to know..!! Guess i'll stay on this L5.02 for a bit longer since i just upgraded it two days ago.
My note 4 is now android 5.1.1 , and I heard that you must flash custom Kernel to avoid boot loop when rooting android 5.1.
I don't know where to start, can anyone please tell me what the current most stable, fast and battery friendly solution for Note 4?
What I can think of so far are:
1. root + custom kernel+some way to debloat
2. Stock debloated TW rom like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/trltecan-n910w8-aoa1-stock-rooted-t3025538
3. Modified stock debloated TW rom like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4-tmobile/development/moving-please-dont-post-t2943845
4. Custom rom like cm: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=trltetmo
ps: Apart from custom kernel, can we also root 5.1.1 note 4 by Install 5.0.1 Bootloader ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/root-5-1-1-n910c-t3190520 Is there some other ways that I'm not being aware of?

If it helps, I rooted and installed a modified international TW ROM. I lose wifi calling. (Never used it) Lose Tmobile hotspot (FoxFi replaces this just fine) Other then adding the APN manually and changing the region in my build.prop to US, it was pretty straight forward. If you want debloat, just root, add TWRP, wipe the stock rom and add a custom one. I prefer modified TW because of stability. I flashed the international because its 5.1.1. So far it runs very well. The ROM I flashed required no additional flashing of a kernel . Look at my sig for the ROM im currently on

I was running Darthstalker for months. It ran well for the most part. I heard there was several android bug fixes from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 that make running a ROM more user friendly.

thanks man, just the backing up/restoring the app+data had turned me off......
I think that I will stay with RAPTURE before something Major went wrong.
but what is your recommended rom?

I'm using TEKHD right now. It's good 5.1.1 with good battery life, but really its just to hold me over till 6.0 drops either CM or TW.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using XDA Free mobile app
I've grown to loathe the lollipop update that T-Mobile put out for the z1s. The memory leak issue present has been rather crippling and frankly I'm over it. A while back I rooted thinking I would be on my way to a custom ROM to solve my issues but boy was I wrong. Locked bootloader piece of sheeeet. Anyways, I'd like to stick with my z1s a little longer and wait out all the upcoming flaghips to see what's next. Is there anything I can do now that I have root to improve performance and/of fix the memory leak issue?
What about going back to 4.4? Is that possible now that the baseband updated with the lollipop update and if so how? Assuming working with the current lollipop build on the phone will get me nowere.
Thanks in advance everybody.
Thinking of even flashing back to 4.3 considering I forgot about 4.4s SD card functionality limits...
Unless I can somehow get a factory 5.1.1 image to from lime a different z1 to fully flash into the z1S......
I5.0.2? But why? Flash stock 5.1.1 root it debloat it greenify should help also. If u want stock based rom i recomend flashing MX Rom v8 but imo v 7.8 was better in terms of battery life. Its already slimed down but I debloated it even more running debloatin
g script witch can be found here on XDA. Hopefully this will help you. Good luck
EDIT: I was thinking you have issues with Z1 not Z1s sorry i can't help you with that one

Yeah you got me excited for a minute.
Is it just me or is there a real lack of working custom roms for Marshmallow N920P Note 5s? I don't even really want a custom mod... but been trying for days to get xposed going on my note and it doesn't want to run on the rooted stock rom (CF Auto Root). I have tried several different roms and can't get anything going. I also can't find anything that SPECIFICALLY states compatibility with N920P, just a couple roms where developers say it "should" run. But alas, been trying for 3 days now and still cant get a working custom rom or any help just to get xposed running...
Any suggestions?

Did you look in the Sprint Note 5 forums? Always look for carrier specific forums and not General. There are a couple in there including Moar which is a very customized ROM. Not a lot of Sprint Note 5 ROM options but Moar is very feature packed. You can add Xposed to it yourself. There's a QA forum to post questions so if you any try to post them there and not in the ROM develeopment thread.
I used this for a standard deodex rom and used the official build for xposed mm on x64 xposed modules works great on mine
edit: you may want to upgrade OTA before you root to get a good stock because I had to look forever to get a good stock rom after I softbricked mine

@henderjr
Have you run this rom with xposed? Wouldn't normally worry but it actually lists xposed in the known issues and states "run at your own risk"...
@Kade Farbo
That stock rom would be fine, but it is for PC3. WIll it work on mine? (N920PVPU2BPD2)
Edit: The rom installed successfully, but it looks like xposed isn't wanting to boot. Same thing happened on the stock rom, perpetually stuck on the sprint LTE Plus screen.
Update:
After trying several combinations of roms/xposed I finally got them working.
I tried the standard deodex rom, which installed correctly. Then tried to flash xposed-v86-sdk23-arm64.zip, installed successfully but wouldn't boot. Same happened with using cf root on stock rom.
I tried installing venom note, install completed successfully but also wouldn't boot.
Finally I installed MOAR, installed without a hitch. After reading the discussion there I followed the recommendation of a poster that stated he was using xposed-v85.1-sdk23-arm64-custom-build-by-wanam.zip. Framework installed and finally booted! Yay! So it looks like this setup is definitely the way to go!

Yeah Xposed with MOAR works fine. The developer just doesn't want people to post about bugs or issues if they have xposed running.
Does anyone ever read OPs? It says right in the Xposed OP that Xposed bootloops stock/stock based Samsung ROMs.

Sorry I meant to reply last night Wanam's unofficial MM xposed framework should be fine. Start with deodex rom and follow the instructions. I recommend this over any custom ROM for most stability and closest to vanilla experience while being able to use all root/xposed features

I may have liked the "more original" rom better, but MOAR seems to be just find and running smoothly. Wanam may have worked on that rom for me, but I didn't find it until flashing MOAR. Honestly after struggling so much to just get anything going, I dont feel like going back through everything just to get xposed on the deodex rom. I'll just stick with MOAR for now lol
Thanks for the help everyone.
Im running Wanam Xposed on the stock odexed ROM.
You can deodex any Odexed ROM with Root Explorer. Just Search .odex in Root Explorer, wait till it finishes, and delete all the files it lists. Bam. Deodexed stock rom, no flashing ROM required.
MOAR is awesome.
Te best Custom rom os laslamy if you looking good battery and mods.
