Hello, i'm new in this forum and i haven't flashed so many roms before.
in this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g870aoc5-5-0-keeproot-t3083841
they use flashfire to install lollipop rooted rom into G870A devices.
but i have a problem, i followed the steps to receive flashfire beta on my device but i never got it, i asked in g+ page to someone to share me the apk containing flashfire beta (the version that is required to do this), but he said me i have to change the date of my phone to july 1st because the app does not open at all, and it is true, by changing the date i was able to open the app, but i;m not sure about using it because i thing it is not the right version and i thing i can damage my device.
Can i use twrp instead? or is it safe to use the apk he shared to me?
Thanks
Much to the dismay of almost everyone here Twrp will not work on our locked bootloader phone.
Give a read here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2969344

You havd at&t s5 active ,at&t locked the bootloader thats why we can't use custom recovery like twrp cwm . if u r in 4.4.2 kitkat i think u can use safestrap recovery..that process will install 5.0 rooted lollipop .i use the same process to update my att s5 to lollipop ..download the file flash through flasfire..

thanks! i'll ty that i hope it works.
but before trying this i, does anyone successfully installed the last flashfire beta? please would you share the apk, i would prefer using that since the tutorial looks very easy, im new using those kind of tools
I just used the latest beta to flash from rooted 4.4.4 to 5.0.1 Of3 without issue.

I seem to have gotten over my head here being fairly new to android in general but wanting to try out all the new stuff lol.
Basically, I updated my LG G2 with the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant but after updating proceeded to screw up a few system files in the process. The kicker is I didn't know that installing this update was going to remove my TWRP custom recovery!
So now... It seems I am stuck with a buggy kitkat and cannot reinstall it because
- my custom recovery is gone and it seems that I can't reflash it do to my being on kitkat (24a)
- Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant won't upgrade the phone again because in it's view I have the latest and greatest.
- using factory reset doesn't seem to be fixing the underlying issue of system files being corrupted but simply wipes user data and apps.
What am I to do? Am I doomed to have a buggy phone until CWM or TWRP support LG G2 so I can install a ROM?
Or is there something I can do to fix this?
Thanks in advance!
If you still have root, you can use this, AutoRec - KitKat Recovery Installer
http://forum.xda-developers.com /showthread.php?t=2715496
If you do not have root it would be best to start fresh by following this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45694605
Then use IORoot to root your phone, thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48709232
After rooting use AutoRec-Kit Kat Recovery Installer and you will be good to go.
Hope all this helps.

If you plan to root the phone, you want to update to a leaked version of kitkat
DK 4.1, GPE Orange, Xposed, xgel, and other great extras
Ok. Well we updated to that version u see right there. How do I go about updating to a leaked version?

We got the kk update to download but it stopped every time when it booted to the stock recovery? It stopped at 26% don't know y? And we were planning to use towelroot for kk.

Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701062 and you don't need the leaked version to get root towel root works fine on official kk
I recently rooted my device but I can not find a recovery backup app that supports my SAMSUNG-SGH-I537. I am on at&t. I have downloaded twrp manager but I can not find the code to install the correct version. Any help would be appreciated.

The i537 has a locked bootloader, you cannot install a custom recovery or custom ROM. You can however install SafeStrap, which is a pseudo-recovery and you can backup your stock ROM as well as install TouchWiz-based ROMs. Look in the development section for the SafeStrap thread.

Read the root instructions for NH3 in the i537 Firmware Thread. There are links in there that explain exactly how to root NH3.
Plz post a link to the thread

In order to root the firmware version you are on (NH3), you have to use this method. Please make sure that you download the files for US (AT&T) Galaxy S4 Active (SGH-I537).

Install SuperSU from chainfire on the play store, open it once it's installed run it and follow the prompts, try to select the option to install the binaries or whatever while the phone is running and select the option that you are NOT on any sort of custom recovery. You can use SafeStrap to make nandroid backups which is what I believe you were asking, but as far as ClockWorkMod, I think it bears repeating:
You have a locked bootloader. There is no way around this, no ifs ands or buts. You simply cannot flash custom ROMs or recoveries. That's it, end of story as far as CM, CWM, AOSP and such things are concerned. That being said there is a sort of recovery called SafeStrap which you can use to make nandroid backups, flash mods and STOCK-BASED roms, but it's not a true custom recovery in the sense that we had been used to, because of this locked bootloader nightmare.
Was hesitant on several other methods I've read over the past day after Towelroot V3 didn't work initially. I followed this step by step and it worked flawless for me on my SGH-I537 KK 4.4.2 NH3. Took about 20 mins being carefull.
I've never had any hiccups rooting any galaxy always choosing chainfire method .
Just picked up s6 and updated to 5.1.1
As I'm looking around posts it's not telling me a lot about root options without any issues ..I see more about issues on 5.1.1 camera issues etc...after root and having to flash boot.bin ?
What is the current safest method to root the 5.1.1 update ,Is it still using chainfire 5.0.2 root
Last thing I want is problems .
A link and quick rundown would be awesome
Like i mentioned I've never felt the need ever to ask about rooting any galaxy s4 S5 etc.... except this time seems necessary

I am having the same issue as OP. I don't know how he feels about it, but I don't care about KNOX! Help! Pingpong seemed the safest alternative after multiple attempts using ODIN always resulting in soft brick. Pinpong apparently isn't updated for the S6 even though I got the link in the T-mobile thread for the S6

Look up "engineer boatloader" on the forums. I have never used this method before, so beware. Fingerprint scanner might not work!

I thought that method only gives you a temp root as it causes issues with calling and/or wifi, so you use it just to unlock then revert back to gain functionality?

The first method jeffrelyn_ posted is what you need if you don't care about Knox. Issues with calling were only when the method was first created, but has been patched for a while now so no issues, and it is a permanent root
The engineering bootloader is the only method that has a problem because the fingerprint reader does not function

The whole process looks like a sh!t show. Which is why I'm just gonna stick with stock.

Alright, if you don't care about KNOX:
Get the correct version of TWRP for your device. Flash using ODIN. Might as well flash the latest bootloader and modem if you haven't done so already (flash entire firmware package if you can't find the modem/bootloader only).
Now, grab the latest Unikernel from the Unified Development forum. Flash using ODIN/TWRP, your choice (pick the right one!).
Download SuperSU from the Play Store. ??? Profit!

I already have the correct version of TWRP for my phone but I don't know how to go about flashing it with ODIN. I'm kind of new to Samsung and ODIN and I am kind of ignorant to this whole process, but I want to learn!!
So I just flash TWRP directly?
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app
I mean flash it to the phone using ODIN directly as I do not have root yet. Which I thought would make TWRP useless

Justbwantd to add I rooted with unikernel tar like 5 days ago and all went fine .Finger scanner works too..
