always nice to get an update. about to install, need to quick charge first. I had wifi-calling on all night, hence my battery was at 1% when i woke up. which brings me to my next point: i hope this update fixes the cell-standby bug. I don't think I'll use video calling much if it means my battery life tanks due to enabled VoLTE. It's been reported, on other S6 variants that got this "latest TW" update, that RAM management is better, so i'm looking forward to that possibility. hopefully the experts here will check out all the minute code details regarding RAM and let us know if RAM management is the same or not.

Just curious, why do you use clean master instead of smart manager? Aren't they the same thing?

My battery life seems to be a bit better with this update.

I just plugged phone into smartswitch and saw the update. 50% through right now. Wonder what's up with it, and hopefully battery life is a little better. I'm pretty sure being an avid user as I am, and the apps that I run don't help.... But, my s4 got better battery then this phone does =/ I'm also probably going to have to get a replacement, because my camera is all wonky, and making weird noises.. All in all, I'm fairly disappointed with the way Samsung rolled this phone out. I'm trying to stick with Samsung, but they are making it very hard.

anywhere to get the file? i'm rooted so no ota update for me...

Memory management still sucks balls. Everything else in the update is legit though. Seems like there is more bloat than ever.

Got Wifi issue! It won't connect or either too slow, though wifi signal is good.

Yeah DHA values remain the same. More bloat as well. So far no cell standby drain while on VOLTE though.
I have yet to check the WiFi cell standby battery drain

Honestly other than debloating, I could have left it stock as well.
I have incredibly itchy fingers though If I'm not messing with something that can turn my phone into a paperweight, I'm not having fun. Even the ram management stock wasn't noticeable to me. The Tmobile bloat is horrible, and I love loading ROMs and screwing with stuff I shouldn't be for the sake of the community.
LMT pie, adaway, custom roms, alliance framework, volume warning removal, de bloating, viper4android, etc... Root is always necessary.

You are not missing much by not rooting. Nothing out there anyways. Most bloat can be disabled. No fix for ram issues. Only samsung can fix it if they want.

Agree, you won't miss much by not rooting. I have disabled most of the bloat which are allowed to be disabled. I can switch between apps without any issues. I got a replacement device last week because the previous one will just turn off itself even if the battery is charged. the "new" (Actually is seems refurbished) works well so far. I have repeated the same process on disabling the unwanted apps, turning off wifi calling and VoLTE, screen on auto brightness, all the usual stuff. Battery life is not great, but can last a working day with moderate usage. If you are on the road, and use camera, maps, then battery drains quickly. If t-mobile network is poor where you are( which is a not unusal), battery will drain even quicker.
T version has to many app from stock... Almost 1.5gb of trash stuff.

I semi-bricked my phone and haven't been rooted since bringing it back to life. The only thing I truly miss is AdAway. It's been years since I had to browse the web without an ad blocker and I feel like they've turned up the onslaught ten fold.
Not bad at all.
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app
I wouldn't root either, but I hate ads, ad-away is a must for me. Adguard and all those work when browsing but not in apps. Until then I will stick to 5.0.2 with root. If anyone knows of a alternative for ad blocking like ad-away does, please let me know.
I need root. Few reasons. Debloating, ViperFX and volume button skip mod (whenever we get one)
Also really really hoping official Cyanogenmod makes it to this phone. I miss AOSP with all my heart.

T-Mobile Galaxy S6 New Update Baseband: G920TUVU3DOI1

There is a new update that started to roll today with Baseband: G920TUVU3DOI1

Per the website 62.78 MB
Right, it is a very small update. I am installing right now. I am not rooted or anything. So i will try and give some feedback when i finish installing. But i am sure that it is going to take a few days to notice any actual changes.
There's already another thread that was created yesterday about this update. Maybe we should all stick to that one so we have a unified place for information gathering. Allegedly this update was to activate Samsung Pay, but mine still did not work. I am completely stock and unrooted. I don't care, I just want better battery (too early to tell).
A 62mb update to enable Samsung pay? Yeah that doesn't make much sense at all.

Clear twice the app and system cache before posting this.
I have Data off, International Data On, Wi-Fi calling off, VoLTE off.
When the phone goes to sleep and the Wi-FI is disconnected (I have "Keep Wi-Fi during sleep off), when it goes off it automatically turns on the Data....
If I have the data on, it goes off automatically. I have to run it on again to use it....
I haven't found the issue what is causing this. Phone not rooted

No issues here...everything works fine.
around day 2 after the latest update i noticed my battery life seemed to be lasting longer. I noticed my "time left" quote was exceptionally high, normally quoting 25ish hours max on a full charge, this time quoting 38.
last friday was the first day of any major usage. used it more than i typically do even on fridays (sat and watched youtube videos quite a lot), with 2 20 minute charges or so, from 8:00am to 6pm it was getting heavy usage, with about 3 hours of youtube going, and at the end of hte day i was above 60%.
That had me floored as normally after a normal friday, I'd be pushing my luck for 40% even with using my portable charger, and thats without youtube.
tomorrow I'll get to give it another hard test and see if it holds up again. if it does i think i will suddenly love my phone now

New Update Relased for S6: BOJ7

AT&T's update text has something along the lines of fixing security issues and performance issues.
I'm not sure if there's anything else to it.
If someone has more info on this, that'd be great.
Already updated since I'm not on a firmware that'd support it anyways.
just updated to that version and so far i feel like the little stutters a not as bad now when scrolling. i also have the samsung package app disabler from google play store that helps save memory for non rooted phones. update was about 100mb over wifi and i needed to have an active sim card for the file to push over.
I installed the update on my S6 Edge and one thing I noticed that's missing is the battery optimization feature that Samsung built which is similar to the upcoming Doze/App Standby feature. It was released in this update on the t-mobile and international versions but I don't see it anywhere on the AT&T version. I'm not sure why they removed a feature that can greatly improve battery life but that's AT&T for you. I also don't see Wifi calling in this update. It appears to basically just be bug fixes, security updates and VoLTE improvements with HD Video and ability to send larger videos over SMS.
My phone auto-updated without my permission today. I was holding off on the 5.1.1 update, let alone the baseband update. The device management alert came up earlier in the day, but I told it to remind me later. Instead of doing that, though, it looks like it decided to do the update. WTF AT&T?!

Do you know what size of video we are supposed to be able to send? I tried on my S6 to send a video to my wife and the default messenger app still shrunk it down to 692K. Garbled garbage still at that compression.

I'm just glad it didn't fix the bugs I've had since updating to 5.1.1 and losing root. I really want to keep those as long as possible. #sarcasm #whydidntibuyinternationalversion
The battery life is definitely much better in terms of standby time. It's a night and day difference for me. Looks like we did get the battery optimization. It just doesn't show up in the settings like on other versions.
I guess all we can do, is hope that the update to OJ7 has created security hole(s) and will allow our wonderful XDA developers an opportunity to utilize it/them to gain root again. I know it sounds like a pipe dream but its no more or less what we have currently, on OI2.
I'm actually having worse battery life after the update than before, I just wiped my cache yesterday so I'll report back later but I find that even with Enhanced LTE disabled my battery is draining a lot more. I'll give it a few days though and see how it is now......my biggest issue is I find that my app usage is quite a bit higher than before and my cell standby in gsam is higher as well though it no longer appears in the lollipop battery stats.
a link to download the new OTA?
I'm on stock and tried the update 2x and both failed at 30%?
Edit: Did a factory reset and the OTA still fails.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Battery is alright on OJ7. Slightly worse than OCE but its not bad.
I did a cache wipe and that seems to have fixed the drain i was having. I'm trying out VoLTE again to see if that's any better now. Overall I'd say the battery life is similar to the previous build. I do have an odd issue today, at about 100 hrs uptime and my LTE keeps showing up while on Wifi for several minutes, then it goes away and then a few minutes later it reappears. This was before I turned back on VoLTE. I did try toggling airplane mode but that didn't resolve it. I do see there is a new build series that is OK# starting to rollout so probably some bug fixes there if we see it, who knows if we'll get that or if AT&T will have us wait for 6.0.
Can anyone please get the files for the update so that those of us that cannot OTA can update via ODIN.

Update to G925VVRU4BOK7

I received this update today and, as promised, Wi-Fi calling and YouTube Live Video Broadcasting are both now available. I've tested both and they work on my S6 Edge.
The App Edge menu is also now included, and works as well.
UHQA audio enhancements are supposedly in there too, but I have no compatible equipment to test that.

Yeah, I saw that there was some new notification feature in Samsung's messaging app, but since I use Verizon's Message+ it slipped my mind to mention it.
And before I get grief about using Verizon's app, I would just add that it is kind of nice having my SMS messages sync'ed across my desktops, tablets and phone - and not that I have anything against the Samsung native app.
I actually liked the app too but just didn't trust Verizon

I hear you, but I figure I've already sold my entire genome to Google and Verizon so it's too late to close that gate any longer.
Now they add the app edge. Too bad I've been using glove box for a while now.

Just noticed that, after this update, the "smart network switch" setting is gone.
Not sure if that means it is now always on, or if it is always off - but I know which ever way it is, it won't be able to be set the other way any more.
EDIT: Restarted my phone today, and the smart network switch is now visible in the WiFi advanced options list. I was probably wrong about it being gone in the first place, but I would swear it wasn't there when I wrote the original post.

Right. I should have been more specific about not having any way to test the UHQA Bluetooth capabilities. On a related note, I'm thinking of trying out Samsung's noise-cancelling Level headphones. I kind of like the control interface, that allows for track previous/next selection and volume adjustment by swiping the ear-cup
I am just downloading it now. Thanks for the heads up.
With those features. I almost don't even care I don't have root.
Just wish there was better selection in the Samsung theme store for free.
I mean the selection we have on the forums here is awesome.
As far as the sound quality goes. Make sure you tune the frequencies using sound alive as well. It makes a big difference on a per user basis.
Foxfi is working without any problems. Battery life feels the same. Wifi calling working as intended.
Is anyone else noticing with this update and the previous one that there are times where the phone seemingly bogs down but then acts fine a few moments later? Feeling like I should do a factory reset, I know the phone can get wonky after updates and it's always recommended to do that, but want to get feedback first if I'm the only one experiencing this?
wtf!!!, this update completely erased everything from my phone, its as if I did a factory reset. Good thing I have most of the things backed up on the cloud....but still....the hassle....
I guess I was due for a factory reset -_-

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't get much grief on the warranty replacement, so I'll wait for that to arrive.
I've been running stock with package disabler on this for a long time (upgraded with everything re-enabled). Wanted to try a t-mobile version of xlite but it looks like the dev dropped support for that build in favor of the international one.
Haven't tried a factory reset yet since I've got a bunch of tokens I need to keep until I can move them and don't want to risk losing more functionality with a reset or image. [emoji28]

For what it's worth, I've been able to move tokens over by rooting and using titanium backup with great success. Just a recommendation if the warranty doesn't show up for a long while.
