Sprint M8 Data roaming missing? Heres the fix! - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Ok so for the last 3 weeks, I noticed I did not have roaming options and my Sprint zone app was disabled and replaced by zone-libentertainment and a grey zone icon. After lots of RUUing and flashing, I finally found what happened. I searched and I found 4 or 5 threads about this so I thought my pain my help others.
If your having issues, look at your notification bar, does it say HTC or Sprint? If it says HTC, it means your sprint partition is borked. Now I am Soff so this was a benefit to me. I had to ruu (in my case I flashed a stock rom and stock recovery via fastboot) and I did a reset via##786# You need your MSL to complete this so make sure to stop by your sprint store to get this if you don't already have it.
Your phone will reboot 3 times and you will be back to having a phone with working roam and sprint zone. Keep in mind that this method will wipe your internal sdcard so back it up.
Hope this will help some who screwed up the same way.

Huge thanks!!
I've been going nuts over this for a couple days, and I couldn't figure it out. The ##786# with a factory recovery is the key, tried it with a custom recovery and it didn't work.
Strangely this thread took me a while to find, so I'm going to add some key words to get more google hits for you.
Sprint One M8 missing roaming menu
Sprint One M8 not roaming
Sprint One M8 restore roaming menu

[Q] Unrooting HTC One running 3.04.651.2 with hboot 1.55

Hi All ,
My apologies if there is a solution to my problem in another thread. I have spent countless hours looking for a way to unroot my Sprint HTC One because the Sprint network can't seem to activate it until I do. Or I need to figure out a way to force the Sprint network to accept my MDN and MSID which can "sometimes" be problematic with rooted devices. It might be easier to just unroot and see if that helps getting the phone to properly activate.
Other than the network connectivity issues, the phone is fully functional. Just cant make calls or send texts.
I am running this ROM based on benny's system dump: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467607 so my device information is:
Android version - 4.3
Sense version - 5.0
Software version - benny's 4.3
Kernel version - [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband version - 1.00.20.0913_3
Build number - 3.04.651.2 CL251863 release-keys
I've tried everything I can think of to get my device unrooted, but none of the RUUs work due to being on hboot 1.55 s-on or having an older firmware version (1.29.xx or 1.39.xx.)
Is there any method I can use to get completely back to un-rooted stock rom with, relocked boot loader (know how to do that part), stock recovery, etc?
I've looked at so many different threads and google searches and all say you need to be s-off and run RUUs of versions that will either cause my touch screen to not work or worse. If anyone can help me it would be amazing and I would be much obliged.
I am having similar issues. I'm about to try this method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470569&page=3 Read OP and see post#27

Ah yes! The 3.04 version wasn't available the last time I read that post! I can confirm that the other that using the 1.29 and 1.31 versions caused serious issues for me and my phone. This post is actually what led me to learn about the issues due to different firmware and file structure between new and older versions.
I'm downloading now. Let me know how it goes!

Also, check this out - http://qbking77.com/development/how-to-unrootunbrick-the-htc-one-to-stock-2/
It's a bit dated, but I am going to try this method if I can find a 3.04 RUU. Note, he is doing this to an S-On phone, which is what we have. So it SHOULD work:good:
Nothing against the first method I posted, but I'd much rather do a RUU and get a clean slate...
There is no RUU for 3.04 yet ( that I know of)...
this is your best (and pretty much only) option: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46565593&postcount=27
Did you ever find a way to resolve this issue? Also did this start after flashing Cyanogenmod? I have the exact same issue and it seems I have exhausted all available resources. Currently have the following setup:
Android version - 4.3
Sense version - 5.0
Software version - 3.04.651.2
Kernel version - [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband version - 1.00.20.0913_3
Build number - 3.04.651.2 CL251863 release-keys
Noticed that the phone is unable to update PRL correctly. Version will switch from 00000 to 1 to 55016. I am also unable to commit changes to any EPST settings (which is the first thing sprint tried to do). MDN and MSID both currently say 'no' and I can't update.
I'm having the exact same issue with everything working fine but no calls/texts.
I flashed the Guru reset for 3.04 but still no calls/text.
Any other solutions?

Try the following:
Full wipe. Flash the newest stable CM.
Go into Settings > More... (under Wireless & Networks) > Mobile networks > CDMA subscription:
Confirm the following settings:
Network mode = LTE/CDMA/EvDo
CDMA subscription = NV
After you confirm these settings, switch the network mode to CDMA/EvDo only and then back to LTE/CDMA/EvDO.and give it a minute or so, you should see 3G/Phone availability come back. You can test this by dialing a number. You should be able to make a call, or at least get the default Sprint "device is not activated" recording. After confirming this, you can do another wipe and flash back to a stock ROM. You should now have mobile network connectivity back. You may need to Activate the phone again and update the profile/PRL to get back to 100%.

Hmm. That's pretty much the issue that I had except 4G/Wifi was working and 3G/Call/Text didnt seem to be. You might try switching the CDMA mode to SIM and then back to NV to make sure the setting takes. I know CM can be really finicky with network changes.

no luck
At this point I have not had any luck solving this issue. I used Guru's reset tool as well and believe the problem is the radio firmware. I spent a good deal of time on the phone with Sprint support and with a surprisingly competent technician in the store. He tried to work with multiple different systems they have available to get the phone to recognize the Sprint towers with no success.
He said that the phone just isn't recognizing them in any way and commented that a phone that isn't activated will still show bars of service because the phone gets the signals from nearby towers, but just doesn't know what to do with the signal until activated. In my case, all I see is the "X" above the signal bar graphic.
If you're experiencing the same issue as me, there is nothing Sprint can do to make the phone recognize their towers based on the conversations I've had. I saw my options as:
1. Wait for an RUU to come out or something like that
2. Try out different ROMs - jjmckaskie suggested the newest CM, but I would think others might be worth trying as well. Basically anything that uses different radio firmware
3. Get a new phone - This is the option I've gone with. Since my phone is running a stock ROM and the guy at Best Buy where my insurance is from, didn't check the bootloader (would have said "tampered" and "unlocked"), he assumed I never voided my warranty and sent out for a refurb. This may not work if your insurance is through Sprint though. I'm not sure how thorough they are.

As a last resort you could also try the hard reset code from your dialer by entering ##72786# . You will need to be on a stock rom. You will also need your MSL code (you can usually get this from Sprint support). This will reset EVERYTHING so be mindful. It will also force a hands free activation/Profile/PRL update after the phone reboots which is sometimes useful.

I still took it to Sprint just to see and they fixed it. Downside is my GPS and LTE is messed up again (Me trying to fix those things is the reason all this happened in the first place) but I'd rather not have GPS than not have phone capabilities on my phone (And LTE in Los Angeles is garbage anyway). I think I'm gonna leave my phone alone for a while tho, lol.

Looks like I am going to go this route. I hit ##72786# and it takes me to SCRTN screen. I'm guessing I just hit menu in the top right, then reset? Then it will prompt me for my MSL code?

Yup. I actually dont remember if it does a full wipe, or just forces an activation/profile/PRL update. But either way it's worth a shot.

Sounds like you solved your issue, but for anyone else having trouble....
I re-tried GURU's reset and it worked. The first time I downloaded it over the 4G network. I also downloaded the OTA over the 4G network. My radio has been giving me fits ever since. Finally, I downloaded GURU's reset over WIFI, then made sure the OTA downloaded over WIFI, and my phone is like new again! No radio issues, everything is perfect. Hope this helps some people...

Gsm unlock emergency calls only!

My bootloader is unlocked with H-Boot 1.56, I'm S-off, rooted and TWRP recovery. I'm on the 6th rom I've flashed (Tried CM 11 Nightly, CM 10 Snapshot, Stock Deodexed rooted 4.1.2 and 4.4.2, MIUI, Viper Rom) and I've been working on this device for about 48 hours non-stop. I am NEED of assistance if ANYONE can offer it.
Does this sim unlock also work for phones that are currently registered on Sprints network? Like the account is still active? I've got a Sprint HTC one I've performed the Sim Unlock attempting to use my T-Mobile sim, but it says "Emergency Calls Only," and "Searching for network/No Service" I've got a red X where the signal bars are. Of course No text, no voice and no data. I've gone into the *#*#4636#*#* service menu and changed the settings to WCDMA, but NO dice. Yes, I went to mobile settings, searched for service and nothing appears, just a blank screen! The phone does recognize my Sim card and even shows my cell number and IMEI, UICC as well. I've even attempted to change RUIM settings in DFSCDMA Tool but that does very little. I have changed the radio around about 5 different times, currently using 3.04.651.2 with NO fix. I have searched high and low on these forums and haven't found anyone that can help me.

Only do this if you're unable to get past the setup wizard.
1. Boot into twrp
2. Wipe dalvik cache
3. Mount system
4. Go to the file manager in advanced
5. Go to system/app
6. The file should be there, rename it.
7. After that unmount system, wipe dalvik again and reboot, and you should be good.

After SIM Unlocked, the phone recognize the SIM, but o Signal

Hi everybody
Actually I am not fresh or new to this kind of unlocking, i made many successful processes, but now i am facing a very strange situation, i had an HTC One for sprint updated to the latest sense 6 , i performed all the unlocking steps successfully, and i get it unlocked.
the problem starts when i inserted the local SIM card, it recognize it and ask me for the network setting, and when i am trying to do the last step (changing the network to GSM) it refuse !! and keep put the network to Automatic mode and tell me no network available!!
i tried almost everything, downgrade to previous Viber ROM ( sense 5.5) S-off , update firmware, etc.. with no hope
maybe i pressed something is the API menu by mistake which caused me all this problem,
any thoughts or ideas will be highly appreciated
today I made the same thing with m8 , same situation, any help pls

Honestly.. I'm thinking it has to do with the firmware. Try method #3 here. If that still doesn't work, try it again for good measure.
I had same issue. My phone is s-off. The way it works for me was going back to 4.3 and i did the method with sim unlock helper. After that i restored my 4.4.2 sense 6 stock rom and unlock works but no mms o data (data 3g and H symbols shows!) I went back to 4.3 and used google to search how to fix gsm connection. You will find a tutorial from here. (Xda) I used cdma tool. Btw...you need to find your MSL code ....that tutorial show you how to do it. Good luck!
To going back to 4.3 i just flashed a 4.3 rom from reckvery. Look in development threads.

Be careful messing with radio's, that's one thing if you get wrong will kill your phone forever, you must have a 4G enabled phone (M7_UL) have a look for this in the bootloader and also a 4G enabled sim, your network provider will provide you with one if your paying for a 4G service.

I'm going to try my family's sim cards, they run on 4g.
Tried mine on their phones and theirs on mine. All sim cards run on 4g. What could be wrong with my m7?

custom rom could easily be the fault, unstable or corrupt lib or system files etc, go back to stock to be sure.
EDIT: pulled from post 1: All basic functions should be intact. But DO expect there to be bugs. This is an early build.

Lots of people in that thread cant get 4G working, open the thread from your original link and in the search this thread box just type 4G, you'll see all the problems, read a couple of pages myself, its a very buggy rom ATM.
If your looking for a 5.0 rom then you could try DU or AICP. Both last i knew had LTE working in them. CM12 is not gonna be the most stable at the moment.

[Q] 3G signal full but calls on emergency only.

Hello, I got a HTC M8 HK unlocked from the following post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2718150 3 months ago the phone was working without any issue, then sunddenly the signal went gone and I place the phone on airplane mode then I deactivated it. The signal recovered pretty fine.
Then a couple of days ago the phone refused to receive/send calls only 3G is working, emergency calls are working so I assumed that the GSM antenna is working fine since I was able to place a emergency call.
Im still using the stock ROM 4.4.2 recently I updated the software to 5.0.1 to see if the problem can be fixed but nope... The issue stills there.
So if any one was able to replicate or is having the same issue can guide me in order to recover this.
I'm going to flash the following radio to re-attempt the unlock procedure again.
1.12.651.17 Original Stock ROM
Thanks for reading!
Cheers!
I would run the RUU for the 5.0.1 update to make sure your firmware is up to date. If you only updated your software but not your firmware you're going to have issues. If this doesn't fix your issue I'd try ##72786# from the dialer and do a reset from the menu once it comes up, and, if all else fails, run ##3282# from the dialer and then reset from there. You'll need your MSL code for that last one. You can get your MSL code from Sprint or by using the MSL reader app from the Play store. RUU's can be found in OMJ's RUU thread in the development section.
Hey thanks! I will do that when I arrive home!
The problem will be that I need to get back to 4.4.2 to perform the unlock again, since this is the Harman Kardon edition from the Sprint.
Another thing that is kind of funny that I have full 3G connectivity downloading at 3MB/s
HBOOT: 3.16.0.0000
RADIO: 1.08.20.0610
OS: 1.54.654.15

Well my friend it didn't work sadly
Now I'm going to try to convert my HK to a simple Sprint M8 to check if the radio versions interfere, I was watching a lot of comments when you change the radio it affects everything, since Sprint only wants to keep them running on their network the modify this one as well. So I will use another version to see what happens.

Not sure why you'd want to change versions, as the only difference is the ADSP firmware. The radios are the same.

Well to be honest I'm a noob on this topics, well I converted the device to M8 directly from sprint and the same history only 3G data but no calls, also I modified the settings of the bands with QSPT same result as well. I'm going to migrate to 5.0.1 and follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59462305&postcount=4293 to check what happens. I already also changed the nano SIM to the same operator... But it's really curious to me... Why he's able to deliver a emergency call on the GSM network... If the antenna is damaged it should allow this type of calls at all...

And at the end nothing worked... Only Data is active... No GSM calls... I gave up... XD
Sadly... This phone was only 3 months with me...
Thanks for the help dude!
