So guys I bought this watch and couldnt really compare it to earlier than 5.1.1. The battery issue was terrible...terrible..every swipe I lost 1% of the battery.
I read all the threads about Android Wear caused the issue, and I did all the fixes, but it was all placebo effect and the problem returned quicly.
I installed twrp and supersu and then sideloaded es profiler and uninstalled the system apps through es profiler:
1. lge watchface
2. bioprotection app, cant remember the name
3. lg fitness app.
I uninstalled about 10 apps I guess.
Then I tried disable some services in Android Wear app with the "Disable Service" app and tested witch work and so on. About 10-12 services was disabled
I did a factory reset the phone after all this and noticed the stock apps was not there also es profiler was gone which I sideloaded again.
So after all this the phone is so much more snappy and the battery feels much better i task manager looks good without the lg system apps too.
Im so much happier about 2 hour now and lost 3%(97%)
Edit: 12 hours later than 97%
Battery update now 85%..the battery drain here would be lower if I didnt sleep with the watch but I did to test it, that hasnt changed I lose about 10% in sleeping.
ROOT and twrp GUIDE:
http://www.evilsocket.net/2015/06/15/how-to-root-the-lg-watch-urbane-b285/
I followed that guide and when I came to step 10. It wouldnt boot back into twrp recovery and showed me a "bricked" logo of android....But I rebooted into the bootloader instead and from there I was able to reboot into the twrp recovery.
BATTERY UPDATE 20. SEPTEMBER
The battery last me 3 days now. Im really happy with the results.
I turn the watch off when I sleep though

Hey, nice to hear that someone is doing some "research" with this device, the problem with app by sideload is that after a factory reset they vanish, but it's easy to sideload them again. What we need right now is a new rom... Hehehehe

Well its possible to download and restore the watch back to factory right? I didnt research that
I can tell you that the battery is amazing right now. Used about 20% today. I disabled alot more services from Android wear, specially the google app that only needs the nowfetch service to be enabled or else the android wear won open normally.
so I disabled about 40-50 services. The connection between the phone and watch is lightning fast its so snappy.
One downfall is that I have to resync after installing an app sometimes, but Im fine with that. I also deleted the LG Call app....that is the worst app ever. It drains battery so much.

Would you know this would work for the w150 model?
It is the w150 Im using so yes
For those interested im developing a kernel. Im testing it and the result seems good, about 2.3%/hr but more snappy then the stock and without disabling service or uninstalling apps.

Sounds interesting. I do need to uninstall crap Im not using though. Also I have figured out how Android Wear services work. The app can easily be replaced by a developer. I only use 7 services out of the 23 which helps prevent battery loss also.
I have improved the battery life from under a half day to 3 days of usage now with maps and everything

If you are not using the sensor underneath the watch that measures you puls follow this, if your are dont uninstall the apps because they will be gone for good:
1.root according to the provided link (noticed what a said about step 10)
2. Sideload es pro filer....you can use apps2wear or any other guide on youtube
3. Through es pro filer you can uninstall system apps, like the crap lg has provided.
I have disabled almost every service in the google app application, only enabled:
GoogleNowRemoteService
CalendarIntentService
Keep in mind we are talking about 43 services that has been disabled. So if you are a person that uses alot of different features of apps you can have issues. I only use minimal and elegant watchface and have also disabled all of the services in this app, about 8 services that keeps sending receiving infos on weather and batteries and etc.
According to what kind of whatcface and launcher you are using on the watch disable services on the androidwear. Keep in mind I can still use maps, kalender and other apps without issue. Only enable following services in androidwear disable the rest.
DeviceConnectionsUpdaterService
DispatchingWearableListenerService
IncomingCallService
LongLivedProcessStateService
NotificationCollectorService
PackageUpdateService
I have only these enabled in android wear services.
I use following apps without issue:
Wear Mini Launcher
Wear Messenger
Task manager
Calender for androidwear
Calculator for android wear
I havent had so many issues. I only resync when I dont see the app on my watch after installing.
All this fixes helped me with batterylife for 3 days and still 17% left
I also power off my watch when I sleep

Ok, if you were able to root and instal the twrp is basically the same:
To test only ( reboot will give you back the stock kernel):
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot bass-skin1980-v1.img
to flash the kernel:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash boot bass-skin1980-v1.img
fastboot reboot

hi! may i asked which disable service app you're using? cause i've tried this one and it didn't worked on my watch. thanks!
Or... just turn off WiFi...
So you know it drinks battery juice really really bad.
Like the poster above I'm also wondering which app you used to disable services on your watch? I tried installing the disable services app from the play store on mine and it force closes.
Battery life on my watch is terrible, less than 12 hours, have tried factory resets, custom kernels/rom , none have made any difference. Drops around 45% overnight even in airplane mode with theatre mode enabled as well. Would like to try disabling services before consigning it to the bin!
Thanks

Hi,
Im just curious how to track down the reason for reboots with stock ROM and stock kernel, not rooted. I had one random reboot yesterday (when watching trailers in the IMDB app) after almost a week I own N7. I know that one reboot in a week is nothing, but its my new toy and Id like to know how to track down the reason for that in case it happens again.
I found out some threads about this and generally it says I should use LogCat - but I dont know how to use it. So I please ask for help! For now, I started Stability Test (CPU+GPU) and wait ...
Happy New Year, Y'all !!!
EDIT: Ghardashyan a bit lower mentioned hes been having reboots when watching youtube videos. Anybody else having this kind of behavior? Also, I had my reboot when watching trailers in the IMDB app - its playing via youtube, right?
The ONLY reboot I have ever seen, is when the default lockscreen widget gets updated by the marketplace. It's guaranteed to reboot on 4.2. It does it every time on both my Nexus 4 and my Nexus 7.
You will only ever see it, if you remove the default android 4.2 lockscreen time widget and put something else there from the marketplace, and only when that widget gets a marketplace file update.
Perhaps you are seeing this? Do you have auto-update apps enabled???

I dont have auto-update enabled. I added another time/weather widget to the lockscreen but I dont think it got updated yesterday ... I will remove it and hope it wont reboot again. I sure think it was some app as the stability test goes for 2 hours without problem.

Its to do with location based services, HD Widgets is a major culprit and stated they were talking to Google to try and resolve the issue, it is also as stated before mainly because of the new lockscreen widgets, which HD Widgets also provide, so the stock widget could also cause the same issue?
Mine have pretty much stopped with the last update of HD Widgets, but it does still occur.

Just for your information, I dont use HD Widgets
Since you're on stock rom and kernel, I think the best way would be to reset your device and keep track of what applications are installed, one at a time.
My guess is that one of the installed apps are causing it..

I know that, but as it was one reboot only in less than a week, it could take months to track the app down ... Im about to restart the device myself and then use alogrec to continually record stuff.
EDIT: Alogrec is not recording a thing, so I rooted my phone. In case of restart, I believe it should be enough to save last_kmsg. Am I right?

Correlation does not equal causation and it seems some are eager to go barking up the wrong tree. As has been stated here, as well as confirmed by Google, it is a bug at the OS level. It has nothing to do, per say, with HD Widgets, YouTube, or any individual app. It affects all products running 4.2 and 4.2.1.
Until Google fixes the issue, there are only two guaranteed workarounds- disable location services or downgrade to 4.1.2.

Settings › Location. Bear in mind that the tradeoff is that, among other things, Google Now will no longer be functional.
For me, the reboots haven't been annoying enough to warrant disabling it on mine just yet.

Great, thanks. :good: I disabled that for now and will turn it on only when I need navigation. I dont use Google Now anyway.
BTW, when Google finds a solution for this, should I expect a full system upgrade?
Just experienced my first random reboot while streaming a flash video on Firefox Beta..
Random reboots are annoying me as well with my stock unrooted n7
Mostly though its during wifi/network activity not just in one app, have had reboots while in youtube, ebay, chrome etc. I have also seen it reboot while in standby
All started from 4.2
Would be interested to know if these reboots are reported back to google?

Welcome to the open discussion of BetterBatteryStats.
I would like everyone to give a big hug(and thanks) to aashay960 for finding this app:
BetterBatteryStats
What does it do?
Well it records the power usage of every single thing that drains battery from your phone.
And when I say everything I mean everything. Wakelocks, apps, alarms, you name it.
Why the fudge would I download it?
Spontaneously this great dude in the second post had the idea to tackle the not-so-great battery life on our device when it runs an overclocked kernel and/or in general.
You will be helping us find the heavy draining apps and stuff, which would lead to their fix.
And you will increase your own battery life if you provide us with good feedback.
Woah thats great, how can I help?
Check the second post for tips tricks and instructions on how to operate this app.
I hate this app, and I hate you.
*hugs* Have a great day :3
Don't forget to hit the thanks button in the original thread for buy it from the app store if you really enjoyed working with it. :3
Note:Since i got bored i will be updating the layout from my 10.1" screen laptop. Lets see how it goes.
Guys, if we want to pull this off we will need all of you to contribute to this thread. There are a lot of factors that can affect your battery stats and I will not be surprised if everyone gets different results. But that is exactly why we need as many results as possible.
Here's what you should do..
ONE-TIME STEPS
Go to the original thread. (Link in OP)
Have a good read
Download and install the app
Open the app
Have a look around then go to Menu>Settings>Advanced> select Root features
In the main screen of the app, press "other" and select "Alarm". It will ask for superuser permission, Grant it.
STEPS WHEN REPORTING
Charge your phone fully (so that we get more data)
After you unplug your charger, go to the app and make sure the second line says "unplugged"
Then, Forget about the app (well, not completely )
Use your phone like you normally would. The more you use it, the more data we will have. Leave it overnight if you can.
IMPORTANT - DO THE NEXT STEP BEFORE YOU PLUG IN YOUR CHARGER OTHERWISE ALL WILL BE WASTED
When it is time to charge you phone again, go to the app, Select Menu>More>Raw Stats
Click on "Other" and take screen shots of the following screens
Partial wakelock (very important)
Kernel Wakelock
Alarms
Process
Network
HOW TO REPORT
Name of Rom:
Name of Kernel:
Battery drain per hour: (it is mentioned on the main screen of the app below "current")
The screen shots:
Anything else you would like to mention
Optional - CPU Settings(max/min, governor etc)
POINTS TO REMEMBER
Your stats will depend on a LOT of factors and you will get somewhat different stats every time you charge.
Please do not post screenshots as soon as you install the app. It will be useless. The app needs time to collect data.
The more (number of hours) you use the phone, the better the stats will be.
Please visit the thread every 2 or 3 days and post your (new) results. It will hardly take time to take 5 screenshots
And dont worry, BetterbatteryStats itself will not cause any battery drain
All this might seem confusing but it is all really very simple. I have tried to make this post with extreme detail so that all the members can help.
Aww man.. I had been collecting data for almost 20 hours. Battery went from 100 to 27. Then i rebooted the phone for some other reason and now its all gone.WIll have to start again... Lesson learned
I found this guide on wakelocks that explains the most common ones. Really helpful.
OP Updated, hopefully people can get a better idea of what we are aiming for.
Also aashaay, i suggest that we elaborate on a proper etiquette and topic layout in your guide. It would be super usefull for people that are just getting started. PM me so we can find an enviorment that lets us do that.
Edit: OP maystill go under some changes, but the link will remain.

Thank you for posting. The 3 major battery suckers in your phone are wifi, facebook and google services. As I myself dont use wifi, I will not be able to comment on that.
As far as facebook and google services go , I would Suggest getting an app called Greenify. I have been using this app myself and so far it has proved to be really effective. And its really easy to use.
The downside is
Facebook - No more push notifications. You will have to open the app when you want to see your notifications and stuff..
Google services - You will not be able to install apps directly from your PC. You have to go to the Play Store in your phone. I dont think this should be a big problem though.
On the upside, you will see a much better battery life and maybe a increase in performance as these apps will not constantly run in the background. They will run as usual when you personally launch them. Give this a try. Hope this helps.
PS - I would personally suggest getting rid of the facebook app and using your browser to go to m.facebook.com. That will be even better. The facebook app has been known to cause a lot of wakelocks and unnecessary background processes. It is your choice though. Best of luck
Get rid of the Facebook app, it's balls lol. I've greenified play services and so I needed to do to install from PC is open play store on my phone. No big deal. If you really don't want to use m. Facebook. What I would suggest you going for either flipster or any other substitute. Just don't use the default one. Disable Wi-Fi when you are not using it and you should be good to go :3
P.S. May I suggest you put greenify in the instructions, aashay? Like " What to do after you collected data"
Thanks

I dont think Greenify will 'always' be the solution to the problem. I would say as people post their stats we could help them out with it (only once though, I'm not answering the facebook thing again lol). So after a while we will have a database of problems and solutions that others users can just go through and use the 'search' button. What do you say?

Lets wait it out and get some more data, I should have my screenshots posted tonight if i dont accidentaly charge my phone.
Yeah me too.. I always accidentally reboot or charge before taking the screenshots
I have uninstalled fb and some other rubbish and got greenify.
Will let you know the results tonight.

I think I can help you reduce the com.android.gsf wakelock (alarm)..
>Get the app called Autorun Manager
>Go to Menu - Settings - Enable system app disable (it should be checked)
>Press home and then go back to the app
>Look for 'Google Services Framework' in the list (NOT 'Google Services')
>Uncheck anything with 'gtalkservice' in it. (There should be about 5 or 6)
I think that might help you. i did that and I rarely get alarms from that anymore. And greenify facebook messenger if you want

Prometheus Kernel (800max)
Per hour - 1.8% (which is amazing)
Run Time - 1 day 5 hours 48 mins 21 secs
Screenshots attached
Comments - The major suckers were whatsapp, Onavo count and E-mail (for some strange reason).
I cannot greenify or do anything else with whatsapp and onavo because they are way too important for me.
I do NOT use push notifications for Email .I have set it to sync every 30 mins (which is pretty conservative). Maybe its a one time thing and a reboot should fix it. If it happens again in the next run, I'll look into it.
Well after doing everything you suggested and greenify almost everything I am now on 42% after 20 hrs at 1.6 pH.
Amazing people, thank you.

You do know that greenify means no background processes right? That means no more push messages. Make sure you know what you are doing. Have a read about that app on the official thread on xda. It'll help you understand better.
Yes I did read up on it first. I left things like whatsapp, BBS, gmail and WiFi keep alive active.
I didn't realize just how bad fbook was.
Getting a lot better now.
Can you tell me what the deleted_wake_locks are?
Never mind, searched and found out.

There is a link in post #4 of this thread which explains the common wakelocks.
Yes, sorry!
I did search when I realised how lazy just asking for solutions rather than searching was!

Anyone can tell me how is the battery with this rom on a normal day. SOT, standby time... I'm just looking a custom rom with the best battery life and performance.

Battery life is subjective to the way you use your device.
Cellular signal strength, wakelocks, refresh interval, what apps you have installed are all different factors that play a role into your daily battery. Just because I myself or somebody else has good battery life or bad battery life doesn't mean you will have the same results.
Any ROM gives good battery life as long as you have your phone set up in a way that it properly deep sleeps. I made the ROM in a way that it stays minimal without all the unnecessary features (in my opinion) and gives you Franco Kernel out of the box which already provides good battery life.
Data not working on Sprint here, and the Verizon build.prop fix didn't do much, but ROM looks basically perfect otherwise.... can't wait until I can actually use it!

I don't personally use sprint so I wasn't able to test this but I'll look into it sometime tomorrow as I'm just heading to bed.
I did include the sprint and verizon apn, the verizon data build prop being ro.telephony.get_imsi_from_sim=true correct?
Is there any cellular data at all? 4g 3g edge regular phone call signal?

It seems the Sprint DM is not installed. I'm guessing that's why we have this issue? Under Carrier Settings you get a force close when trying to open.
I can send and receive SMS and a call. No MMS or other data available. I show as connected to LTE,ehrpd, 1x etc under Signal Check Lite. But no connection when trying to run a speed test etc. Great ROM, hopefully this is an easy fix. Thanks!

You can't get Mms because the stock Mms.apk is not included with this ROM. I didn't include it because people rarely ever use it anyways and can just get one from their GApps (or on Play Store). Do other ROMs you've previously used that had cellular data have SprintDM?
A log cat of Carrier Settings would help as well. So basically, you can receive text/voice calls but anything related to cell data doesn't work? Are you happening to be nationally roaming?

I can send/receive MMS when I switch on WiFi with textra. If WiFi is off, the MMS just sits there.
I've only used rooted stock and CleanROM which is stock based. Worked fine, as Sprint DM is included, not sure that's really the issue. I just wondered.
I have roaming turned on. But showed I was connected to Sprint towers. I'll mess with it a bit tomorrow if I can. Thank you.

Try
Sprint data dialer reset code:
*#*#72786#*#*
Select reset then OK to confirm
No data is lost.
Most recent PRL version as of 1/7/15:

or go into dialer -> *#*#4636#*#* -> phone info -> select preferred network type.. try setting it to CDMA/LTE.
See if any of those help. If not then it could be SprintDM.apk, see if you can revert back to that ROM and then try taking that apk and putting it into /priv-app/ and then reboot. See if something shows up afterwards.
If so, upload the apk and I'll turn it into a flashable zip that you can sideload and it should work on any ROM.
I've checked through everything and I don't see any errors on my part. I have the included parts that other ROMs have included, sprintfix.zip is simply updating the APN which the ROM's APN already includes sprint.

Might be a problem with the way you're installing it. The easiest way is to install universal init.d app and then open it and then press 01VomerTweaks and top right press Play.
Assuming you have dual or quad in the right folder then it should load all the settings.

Seeing that the app has not been updated for Lollipop and was last updated on February 24, 2014. Try another app such as Trickster to see if it still says.
Use universal init.d to apply vomertweaks.
So I just flashed to chroma and love it! Except the android keyboard won't work, and it keeps telling me that it is broken through constant pop-ups lol. I used gapps 5.0.x beta from xda, and I went with the smallest google footprint model which doesn't have google keyboard. So I can't download a keyboard because have one, and I don't have a filebrowser to sideload. How can I sideload an apk keyboard?

There's a new update to VT and a new update to Franco Kernel. Be careful because conservative is better than interactive.
New build coming today.

As you can see there is heavy drain. I think it may be school WiFi sometimes it drains really heavily sometimes not. Any fixes?

Android system and android OS
Your phone's wifi bluetooth NFC must always be on. Since the os is managing so much hardware, it attributes the battery used for this in system and os.
Google play services
This always drains battery by keeping mobile radio on. Google has not yet fixed this. Only connecting to wifi seems to solve this.
These issues have plagued many users running 5.0 on their phones.

Bluetooth is never on, NFC is, so I should turn it off?
The battery drain even more heavily on the school WiFi than on mobile radio, which I suspect could be related to blocking Facebook and YouTube and the apps constantly trying to connect because on home WiFi the battery's absolutely fantastic..
Should I expect 5.1 to fix the issue? Because it sucks that I got 5.0 out of the box, if I'd known that 5.0 had so many issues and had the choice, probably wouldn't have upgraded.

There you go.. turn off NFC if u dont use it. And remove the facebook app as it is the heaviest battery consuming app. Also youtube won't cause any such problems. Try to turn off all the hardware you dont use like turning to 3G/2G when connected to wifi instead of 4G.
Also you may consider managing the backup features manually like settings backup and reset, Google photos auto backup.
Yes KitKat was much better at all this. But lollipop aint that bad if you dont mind managing some settings manually. I dont know if 5.1 will fix all this as i dont have it yet. Just hope it would.

I used to get such heavy battery drain on my phones until i removed the fb app. Not all devices were connected to internet all the time. Since i removed it, the standby times have been great! You will miss notifications though by switching to FB in browser. You may try other fb apps like tinfoil and friendcaster if you trust those.
Hope this helps.

Yep, sucks that I never had a chance to deny the lollipop upgrade as the X I bought shipped with it out of the box. Oh well.
Just want to compare to others as of what I may have found. After rooting my watch and installing the custom rom from janjan I was still getting the random lag. I decided to try my hand at removing a few apps just in case it could be one of the of those. I removed a few apps installed by my phone as I don't use them but the lag was still there. Lastly I removed the zenwatch manager (the app used for some custom watch faces and a few features that are not all that super useful). After removing this I have not noticed any more random slow downs. Will report back after a few more days but I think that this may solve the random lag issue.
Only beware; you'll lose the upper and lower button functionality.

That's the first thing I thought of too but after disabling zenwatch manager
by freezing it on my S7 Edge phone both of the programmable buttons still
worked fine and remain programmable.
I even checked to see if I can still re-assign the top and bottom buttons and
found that I could just like before I froze zenwatch manager.
After freezing zenwatch manager I still have the zenwatch manager icon in my watch along
with all the other apps but when clicking on it it tells me to install zenwatch manager so I
know that after freezing it it no longer is functioning on my watch.
So far I can tell the difference before&after freezing/disabling zenwatch manager and I have
found that I can feel and see the difference and it is true that without zenwatch manager the
watch is noticeably faster and quicker without any lag or stuttering.
My zenwatch 3 also suffered from a lot of random lag, stuttering and unresponsiveness
before I froze/disabled zenwatch manager. My watch is not rooted and I am not using twrp.
It's 100% stock waiting patiently for the Android Wear 2.0 update.
@texanman is right about zenwatch manager.
Have a great day!
I had switch to an old iphone, while I'm waiting for my new one to come and paired the watch. Now the watch is flying, no lag at all, everythings is super smooth. So weird...
I'll try this when I switch back to android. Should I install Zenwatch Manager and then disabling it ? Or is it working too if I just not install it ?

Zenwatch Manager has never been a requirement, it's an optional add-on.
It can be installed before or after setting up the watch, it does not matter.

You are right, zenwatch manager did contain the required firmware patch for the remap buttons
and the first time we installed the updated zenwatch manager it flashed the firmware patch to
the watch's firmware get the two remap'able buttons to work.
Once zenwatch manager flashed the remap button patch there is no more
need for zenwatch manager for that purpose.
Android Wear 2.0 will not need zenwatch manager for the firmware patch
because the new v2.0 firmware will already have the remap feature in it.
Good luck, have a great day!

We have to wait and actually see what Asus did to 2.0. I would not jump to conclusion just yet, even if it is highly possible the stock remapping function could be there.
And the zw manager is not needed for remapping to work. First time you push any button the button remap app will show up

I already booted and installed twrp recovery, so far all the rooting instructions that I have
read all say that after rooting we will still not get a writeable /system which means it will
not be possible to edit the build--prop file or any other file which is located in /system .
How did you root your watch? - Did you use any of the methods outlined here in this
xda zenwatch 3 forum? - If you have used any of the methods here in this forum did
you check if /system is read and writable ?
Thanks in advance.

i did this on 2.0.
make sure to disable the app, force stop it and then clear all the data. you may need to force stop and clear data a couple of times
I also found that adjusting the animation scale from 1x to 0.5X or none helps. this is under the developer options settings.

so disabling the app also disables the watchfaces and the "dock mode" face, right? at least this did for me. I'm fine using watchmaker, but would like to keep the night time dock screen.

i have no idea if what you are asking is possible, but i seriously doubt it. you might be able to find an APK somehwere and sideload it for the watchface only.
personally, i forgot all about the watch faces when the laginess vanished. watch was unusable out of the box.
Do you all recommend disabling the Zen Manager app on your phone or on your watch (or both)?
Hoping to get better performance.
Thanks!

from my understanding, the ZM app on the phone is NOT required.
as I mentioned earlier, I tried disabling the app on the watch, but did not see any difference.
i'm going to try some other settings adjustments (including disabling the fitness app) to see if that helps.
also trying to disable "smart reply" and just keep "ok google" enabled.
I tried all of these things and none of them had a significant impact on the watch's responsiveness or speed.
The thing that finally fixed my lag was editing build.prop and changing debug.composition.type to gpu in the two places it appears. I also changed ro.core_ctl_min_cpu from 2 to 4, removed zenfit from /system/apps, and disabled Zenwatch Manager from the watch (couldn't find an apk for it on the filesystem). The gpu parameter fixed the lag - it's just about completely gone and the UI is about as smooth as my Moto 360 v2, and I think the min CPU setting is responsible for significantly speeding up actions like launching assistant.
I've been meaning to post a writeup but haven't had the time. Two threads that were extremely helpful are this one and this one (linked to from the first). The only downside to following these instructions is I get a warning about the OS not being validated because dm-verify is turned off. Not sure if I can turn it back on with a modified build.prop, but I'm not concerned because I finally have a smooth, properly functioning watch.

Editing the build.prop on the phone or watch? And if so, I presume you have rooted the watch?
Sent from my XT1254 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I didn't root. Fundamentally all you need to do is get the watch booted into twrp one time so you can mount /system, adb pull build.prop, make the edits I mentioned, then adb push it back and reboot.
