it seems a little hard to get some help in this department

Hello everyone,
Sorry that my first post has to be a request for help, but I recently saw an XDA IIi for sale at a good price and went for it.
I am now thinking that my purchase may have been a little hasty as I can't get any service on it.
I'm in the U.K. and with O2 although apparently the device is unlocked - O2 (providers) cannot help me nor can the slimy type who passed me the semi-brick (for some of my hard earned!)
Bluetooth, WiFi and other features seem to work well, but I cannot find any networks when searching in the start>settings>phone>network> 'find network' or 'set network' even though I have a new SIM with web and GPRS updates.
Does anyone have any ideas how to solve the issue?
I'd just like to use the thing I spent money on rather than have to suck up the loss or, perish the thought, sell it on to someone else who might want it.
Any suggestions are much appreciated,
G
anyone?
I'm stumped by this one.

Thanks for the reply.
I'll look into it.
Hi there,
First post so first up let me just say hey been lurking on here for awhile but never needed to post before! I seem to have had the worst luck ever, purchased two samsung phones first off a galaxy s2 off ebay which I was really looking forward to using and then an s8000 from cex which I wasn't looking forward to using so much. I've spent a lot of time unlocking and sim unlocking them only to find out they are both IMEI blocked, I've spent a lot of money on them and even when i've taken them into the operators they have been no help even going so far as suggesting I have stolen both of them. I don't really want to give up on either phone but spending £100 on a z3x box just for two phones is a bit much, so I wanted to know if there's anyone in london with a z3x box who would be willing to help me. I understand that it probably looks a bit dodgy asking on a new account like this but I can only assure you of my sincerity. I'll understand if no one is willing to help but if anyone is could they please get in touch with me.
Thanks for your time.
You need to get your money back from ebay and cex, shouldn't be a problem, always get imei no before buying, if they don't provide it, they are hiding something

Hey folks need help please.
Had a s2 for ages and smashed the screen and for the last few months ive been using the bottom range htc smart phone my ass.
My bro broke the screen on his xperia z ( c6603) vodafone , and today i got back after getting repaired.
Its sim locked and bootloader is no.
After reading so many threads my brain has now exploded.
Im like a child in a sweet factory with his jaw wired shut.
im just looking for it to be unlocked to 3 network as quick as possible so i can become whole again
I know its a bad time to be asking this but is there any way? Dont mind paying
But for any site i read that unlocks phones i seem to come across horror stories.
please make my xmas come true
edit: im not a total new btw rooted and installed cyanogenmod on a s2
Okay, so because I had a major brain fart I stupidly purchased an Xperia Z that is hard (counter) network locked to T-Mobile Austria.
Please do not waste time replying to this post if you don't know what this means.
I refuse to believe that all I can do is throw it away for scrap. But nowhere on this forum can I find a post from someone who successfully got a hard lock resolved by the phone manufacturer or the carrier, or anyone else for that matter.
I just spent 20 minutes on the phone with Sony Mobile support here in Sweden and not even they could tell me if it can be done.
What if a poorly trained authorized dealer rep accidentally hard locks a phone when attempting to code unlock it for a customer? Does it go in the bin for recycling? I don't think so.
I am prepared to eat the cost of getting it unlocked. Surely someone must have done this?
I'm trying to basically revive a friend's tablet. The problem is I've tried so many different things that I'm getting frustrated. Any recommendations on how to get it back to the way it was out of the box or close to it. It is a U.S. model. Thanks for any help you can provide.
