Does anyone know whether any CM9 or CM10 ROMs for Droid 3 support full device encryption? To clarify, this is the encryption you enable by going into Settings -> Security-> Encryption and selecting "Encrypt phone".
I have a D3 that I am trying to use as a spare/backup phone and our corporate environment requires device encryption. I don't want to waste time on installing a ROM unless I know device encryption is supported.
If someone can confirm, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.
I have a Verizon Moto X Dev Edition that I have never turned on. Had it a while. Build date Jan 2014. Currently using a Sprint Moto X bootloader unlocked, rooted, running 4.4.2 flashed to Page Plus. Like the way I have it set up and want to set up the new phone the same way. Page Plus now has 4g, throttled. Will get it set up before switching phones. Worried that if I connect to wifi it will update past 4.4.2 Would it even if it is not activated? Not sure that it is even on 4.4.2. If it"s not I would update it myself. Thanks for any help and suggestions.
Just curious, why don't you want anything past 4.4.2? What features on your olde phone can't you have with 4.4.4 or 5?
Anyways even if it updates itself you can always follow guides on here to get to pretty much any ROM you want.
1. Why not update?
2. It's easy to block the OTA. Google has the answer.
I was on 4.4.4 on my rooted AT&T Galaxy S5. My phone was being very slow, so I decided to do a restore/reset. The only version of the Stock rom I could find online was 4.4.2 on Sammobile. Thus, I flashed 4.4.2 using Odin and did a factory reset and then rerooted using towelroot.
So now, I have been having an issue where gallery keep requesting to sign in to all of my google accounts. I did a quick google search and I found a few proposed solution ( uncheck the following in account sync: picasa, google+, google+ photo upload AND clear data/cache in the gallery app). I have tried all that and it didn't work. Gallery keep requesting sign-in for all my google account, despite I have uncheck the sync.
I did not have this issue when I was on 4.4.4. So I figure I should try to upgrade back to 4.4.4 (including the bug fixes and security updates AT&t reported they fixed). I did find a similar post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/help/trying-to-upgrade-4-4-2-to-4-4-4-t3144212) but OP of that post wanted to upgrade to 5.0, which I do not want.
I want full access and a stable Xposed Framework, which from my understanding works only on a deodex'd rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3113463) and I would prefer to use stock for android pay.
I also found this post on how to root 4.4.4 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...to-root-g900aucu2aoa1-4-4-4-2-3-2015-t3021120). Since I am on NG3 already and taking the OTA update is not an option (I assume the OTA update will put me on lollipop), would flashing the G900A_NG3_tA1_OTA.zip file under Troubleshooting work for me? And when the post states "sideload from stock recovery" do they mean use Odin (if not, how would I do that)?
Can someone tell me how to upgrade to 4.4.4?
Hi all,
I found that Kitkat 4.4.4 for me was absolutely perfect with no issues, so I'm considering going back to it. I'm just concerned about the security updates for it and if they're still a risk or if updates and patches through the play store resolves those issues? Could anyone give advise regarding this or if there's a way I can stick with 4.4.4 without the security issues?
Thanks
if you arent an advanced user and are concerned about security, just use the phone on 4.4.4 but dont root it . As long as the phone does not have access to the system partition, you should be just fine.
Note : I been using 4.4.4 and rooted . To be safe, i dont use any banking or other financial related apps. I use my nexus 7 2013 for all those sensitive things.
i would also like to know what can be done to stay safe on the 4.4.4 rom . dont wanna upgrade to lollipop and marshmallow is not available for xt1064 yet(dont wanna use the unofficial way since mms and gps does not work)
I have three moto x4's that can't be rooted. I need to record telephone conversations for my work so I have to keep them on Android 8. I keep getting notices almost twice a day to upgrade to Android 9, and while I can choose "later" it is getting annoying and starting to interfere with my use of the phones.
I tried turning off notices for google play but that did not stop the notices.
Does anyone know of a way to prevent the notices from appearing?
I've since switched to a custom ROM, but I disabled the Moto update service when I was running stock Oreo and that stopped the notifications for me. Now, I did this on a rooted x4 using Titanium Backup rather than from the Settings app, but it's worth a shot.

Click to collapse
cannot root because bootloader cannot be unlocked. cannot disable moto update service because it is greyed out
Here is a question:
Are these X4 branded or unlocked/open market?
I successfully unlocked bootloader on mine even after updated to 9
You need Linux with adb instead of Windows
Mac may do it too
The phones have locked bootloaders because they were amazon version.
Is there an anti-virus program that would at least prevent the update from downloading or installing unless I specifically allow it?
