New Z3c Has No Unlockable BootLoader .. HELP?? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, probably been asked and answered many times but Id like an up to date answer please..
New Z3 Compact arrived today (secondhand off ebay UK), it was Vodafone but I unlocked it and to my surprise, it has a locked Boot Loader that "can't" be unlocked as I really want ROOT and always had a rooted Android since I can remember! Sony seems to be different in this sector and might have to sell it otherwise which would be a shame!...
Any fixes for this issue, being September 2015? Cheers in advance.

I got mine from O2 and it can't be bootloader unlocked, but I still managed to root it. Followed the steps here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/how-to-root-backup-drm-keys-t3013343
Which lets you root and take a copy of the DRM keys, you should not bootloader unlock it first as it wipes the DRM keys permanently, resulting in the loss of the camera low light algorithms and Bravia engine software.

Root for Z1 Compact without losing TA

Is there a way to root the Z1 Compact without losing what you do when you unlock the bootloader?

The Compact roll out a week ago, at the moment there is no way to have Root or anything, the developers are working on it so stay tuned on XDA.

Not really true though, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620794
But since there's no older firmware for the Compact you won't be able to backup the TA.
Since that thread was even posted before the launch of the compact, I thought it might be worth asking since alot can happen in a week....

I said there is no root ans still no root yet, that is just Recovery and will be a Root soon for Unlocked Bootlader but at the moment there is nothing for Locked Bootlader.
You have to wait.

Check second post of that thread and then tell me again that there's no root.
EDIT: But for the waiting part you might be right though.

Unlocking bootlader
Sorry for being a complete noon when it comes to rooting and bootloader and backups... and what not.
What exactly is at stake here? Just got my Z1 Compact today and learning from my previous devices, N7 and LG G2 (and mistakes) i kind of wanted to unlock the bootloader as soon as possible. Now i am reading all this about TA backup and loosing DRM , and feel both lost and concerned.
Should I bother with the unlock or rather wait until developers has gotten a bit further on this? Planning to use this device as a second phone for rough weather's and hopefully won't fill it up with to much DRM protected stuff (guessing that DRM is mainly for stuff bought through Sony?) so maybe I will be fine doing it later.
Any advice or suggestions are very welcome.
Cheers.

If you Unlock Bootlader you will lost your Warranty and DRM keys and like on Z1 you should lost X-Reality, Bionz Processing and Bravia engine. Losing this features will not compromise the working of your phone but DRM key definetly will compromise the warranty and if you lose them you will cannot Relock Bootloader anymore. Unlock Bootloader is needed if you want flash custom kernels like DooMlord kernel with recovery. So is recommended to Root first your phone and then Backup your TA and DRM keys so in the case you will want go back to Stock or go via Warranty you have just to Flash Stock FTF and then Relock Bootloader. But like I already said, there is no root for locked bootloader at the moment, and this is what OP was asking but he was just challenge me with Root for Unlocked Bootladers.

[Q] TA and DRM keys ? Am I ready to Root ?

Quick questions and no they haven't been answered directly the way I am asking them :
1) If I wish to later do warranty repair and I currently have a locked boot-loader is backing up the TA going to give me a 1:1 undetectable root and later unroot if I choose. (i mean all my gracenote, bravia, and other DRM's be returnable to stock condition)? (if so which method is the BEST.. ? seen a couple now)
2) My stock firmware doesn't seem to be on the FTF list is this possible I have a : c6906 C6906 14.3.A.0.757 Generic CA R10 ??? This one is on the list I don't think so ? Perhaps I am reading the string from the wrong spot.. ! In which case anyone know what to do to make a backup ?
3)Everyone hates this question but I have to ask does anyone here know of a way to unlock a locked bootloader :YES flagged device; I feel like a dink asking but after sifting through hundreds of posts there seems to be contradiction as in some people eventually figure it out and/or have unlocked z1's which I have read elsewhere that every single z1 comes from factory with bootloader locked yes?
Answer one of these questions for me make my day and you will have my many thanks to come

1) Why Unlock Bootloader for Root if you can get Root on Locked Bootloader? First get Root on Locked Bootloader then Backup TA and do whatever you want. Best way is with the application to Backup TA, with that one you can Unlock and Relock, as you already had read 100 post then you know which method you have use to backup TA, right? (no? then search again) BTW, Yes, after Relock bootloader with the Backup of your TA your phone will be stock like new.
2) Perhaps you should understand that it do not matter, download any Generic CA or International CA for your specific model C6906. Done.
3)What that even supposed to mean? Type *#*#7378423#*#* and go to Configuration, if there is Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes, then you can unlock it, if there is NO, then is no way to Unlock it. To unlock it there is only ONE WAY, google it.

1) I think you may be confusing root and unlocking the bootloader. TA partition backups are for re-locking the bootloader, not removing root. In fact you must be rooted in order to make or restore a TA backup. Generally only an unlocked bootloader voids warranty, not root. Though if you're worried about it, you can always flash a stock FTF and you will be back to stock without root.
For TA backup there's a Windows app that will do it, just Google it. Works great
2) Your firmware is there. Google "c6906 14.3.a.0.757" and it's the first link
3) As @eclyptos said, if your service menu says unlock is allowed, then you can. If it says unlock is not allowed then you can't and I'd say there's a 99% chance you will never be able to.

almost fully clear on this but still curious how my device is R10 which I don't see on the 6906 list.. I see r4 and so on.
I have read on a website that unlike z1s and other z devices every single z1 comes from factory locked. If so then how come some people have proclaimed the unlock success? Maybe that was just misinformation?
Thanks again will properly thank everyone later at home currently using the app

Yes, it's your misinformation. All of them have Bootloader Locked from day 1, Z1S is Locked Permanently and Unlockable, Z1 is Locked but can be Unlocked from the Official Sony Web Page, just google it.

1) You dont need to unlock the bootloader to root, towelroot method will root phone just fine
2) Unlocking bootloader caused some issues in BE but if you are just rooting without unlocking there wont be any issues
3) Unlock bootloader only if you are planning to flash custom roms(Remember unlocking bootloader WILL void your warranty)
4) Flashing custom kernels and roms is risky business so please read up before doing anything

Nope, I just sent my XZ to repair service for broken glass, BL was unlocked and I didn't even re-locked it before sending to customer service. Everything went fine, repaired, ROM updated and still under warranty.

Broken glass was a "hardware issue'
If your phone goes kapoot(Hard brick) while tinkering with roms or anything software related and your BL is unlocked chances are the service center might not honor warranty as it will be a "Software issue'

Sorry I know I'm late but it can be helpful for some to make some precision about warranty...
I said that because lots of peoples always think as long as you unlock BL warranty is lost no matter if it's software or hardware related.
Even Sony website says on unlock bootloader official page "warranty may be voided".
I'm sure there's Xperia owner that doesn't bother sending their smartphone to repair center just because they think it is useless as they unlocked BL...
Now if they read this they know there's always a chance to repair under warranty.

[Q] Preparation before service (UB/Custom Rom)

Hi, I'm having the squeaky vibration problem. My phone is about 6 months old and I've been having this noisy vibration squeak for at lease 6 weeks now. I'm running slimkit evo 8.1 on a unlocked bootloader. Before I try to get it fixed by Sony, do I need to reset back to stock and lock my bootloader?
Could anyone give me some pointer to what I could say to get the phone exchanged for a brand new one? I can't be without a phone for 2-3 weeks (estimated service time by resale store).

Lock the bootloader via flashtool and install a stock rom..The chance that they repair or exchange the device is far better with locked bootloader. If it is unlocked they may recognize it and refuse to repair the device.

Hmm, without the drm keys they will still know you unlocked it.
Restore the TA partition (that you should have taken before you unlocked) to relock and restore the DRM keys. then flash a stock FTF

Well now I know that I made a big mistake. I guess that sony made a hard brick in my phone. I am not sure if i will be able to unlock my bootloader again and I need information about it. I lost my DRM Keys and I can't take pictures, so It's driving me crazy.
Can I use a back up of DRM Keys from another locked Z3+?

You can't use drm keys from another phone. Plus you need root to backup your keys. And you cannot root z3+ without unlocking the bootloader first. Ive unlocked my bootloader. I have zero issues. Everything works great. What exactly did you do?

Not is my case. I rooted and later I touched "My xperia protection" and the phone didn't respond any more. Later I understood that it was a big mistake. I had to restore my phone with sony companion and now I don't have unlocked my phone and I can't root it , again. And also I lost all my DRM keys, so my camera is a disaster. I'm not sure about if I could restore the original state of the phone, locked but with the posiblity of unlocked again. My rooting status is Unknown.
