disable back and recent buttons or turn down sensitivity. - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having issues with the touch sensitivity of the note 5. The screen and capacitive buttons (back and recent apps) are simply TOO sensitive.
is there a way to disable these buttons in games or rather bring down the sensitivity down a bit?
for example when I am playing a game this i have to hold my phone in landscape mode. my thumb would always sometimes touch the "recent apps" button and it will bring me out of the game.

Im not sure of a way to turn down sensitivity. Probably a way to disable them with root. But I would suggest if you don't want to have issues during a game or something, just pin your current app from the recent apps list. Accidentally hitting any of the 3 button buttons won't do anything.

How do you pin then?

I don't have a pin option in recent apps. Is there an additional setting to turn this on?

Oh OK. I thought it was there by default. That's how it is on my phone. Go to settings > lockscreen and security > other security settings > set pin windows to on.

Galaxy Button Lights app will allow you to disable the lights w/o having to toggle power saving mode.

Turn off Screen Wake on SMS?

Is there anyway to turn off the screen wake on SMS? Can't find the option. Also tried downloading Hoverchat (NinjaSMS) that didn't work as well.

Have you tried going into Messaging -> Settings -> Notifications and disabling the Pop-up Display or the message previews for the lock screen to see if that turns off screen wake?

Yup. All notifications are off. I can't believe they left out such an option like this.
What about trying a new messaging app?

I noticed that too on stock messenger, I have pop off in notifications. Note sure why it should wake or why you can't even turn it off with the notification led.
I use hangouts as my default messaging app now and it does not turn on the screen. I would like to use messaging, but why leave that feature out as well as the home button waking the screen in my pocket, it drives me nuts.
Use 8sms, you won't regret it!

If you are rooted, install Xposed and download Wanam. There is an option to unhide that feature so you can disable it.

And, since this is just revealing the hidden option rather than hooking in and adding the functionality itself, your choice persists even if you remove wanam and xposed.
I can confirm the wanam option does work, I havent turned it off though cause I want the screen wake. There is also a thread about this here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785118

I did the same thing but I don't have the screen on option. Any suggestions?
I just turn my phone over so it don't wake me at night lol sorry That's my only suggestion for u.
thanks for the xposed solution. that was really bugging me
I use Ringo Pro from the app store. This allows me to let this app control all ringers and text sounds and then you can go into the actual programs and TURN OFF all notifications... this plus a SECOND lock screen has finally slowed down the pocket calls to 911 and an array of miss hit buttons...
This is my only complaint with this phone. Pocket dialing and button pushing is killing me..lol this has helped some
Fellows "Blocking Mode" takes care of this. Just set it up its free & comes on phone.
Unlock Bootloader on SM-870A At&t..
this solves it

No, this is the moto lock screen with moto notifications. some times after unlocking it, I get another "lock screen" which I can simply swipe up and get the home screen back.
I started receiving the swipe to unlock before the PIN unlock screen after installing GravityBox LP and a few other xposed modules but haven't researched a fix yet.

Try turning on Ambient Display, under Settings/Display. I have mine set for pin lock but that specific lock screen does not turn on, either by the power button or waving my hand over it.

my understanding is that is the notification lock screen. That's where you'll see the cards for whatever you have set for the notification screen. Swipe up, and you can unlock based on your method. It's also the screen where you'll have the music controller if you're playing some tunes.
I thought I would hate it, but I am totally used to it now, easy to get a quick look at what's happening without having to unlock. Just be sure the "show all content" on your notification options..

I agree that it's nice, I just like Motorola's smart display better where waving my hand over the phone shows me the time and icons of notifications I have and touching these icons show me their contents. It's more a more private way of seeing what's happening without unlocking your phone.
If you are rooted and have xposed you can install gravity box. Go to lock screen settings and under direct unlock choose standard.

Do you have Facebook messenger opened with a chat going? Or perhaps another app like that? I always have to remove the "chat head" from my screen when I get that message.
when I get it, I usually jump to settings, app permissions and setting the permission there. That almost always works.
Same anoying thing here. I had to Disable everything to make other apps work. I even had to change the message app to get around this issue. Hope so done finds a solutio. For that annoying issue
, put the phone in Safe Mode and then when it restarts you can do whatever you need to do if the apps and then take it out of safe mode

i have to disable All in One Gestures, grant permission, then re enable All in One Gestures.
Is this what you mean by screen overlay? Everytime I get a notification while my screens on it's hidden in the background, only a portion of it pops up until at the very end it pops up but then it disappears and I can't even read it.

i dont think you can. You also cant turn screen off with it anymore without root (unless you PIN back in)
Go into the security settings, iirc the very bottom should have a toggle regarding screen overlay warnings
There is probably just one or two of the apps you have to disable. I have an app called swipepad that is always accessible by swiping the sides of my phone from any screen. When I turn this one off, I'm able to confirm app permissions. Super annoying though, as I then have to give swipepad overlay permissions again after the fact. You can get back to this settings menu by going to settings - applications - menu button - apps that can appear on top.

Turn off the blue light filter. That will get rid of screen overlay warning. Also if you have the twilight app just pause it

Nope. Happens on my Nvidia shield tablet now too after updating to the latest marshmallow. It's a MM thing. For now I stopped using swipepad and using the built in apps edge instead. You will have to do the same with whatever app is causing your issue if you want the problem gone permanently. Or wait for root.

Thinking about you this, I didn't realize why I was getting this prompt regardless of disabling all the apps with permission.
But I use the Edge panel, I will try disabling next time I get this prompt; should take care of it.

No Multi window option in OOS 4.0

Hi all I updated my OOS to 4.0 but could not found multi window option in setting page.
Any help is appreciated
For multi window got to recent apps view and simply drag one of the apps to bottom or top part of the screen. It will take the respective screen half and leave the recent apps view in the other half letting you select second app.

I've tried software buttons and can't figure out why I would want to use them... Anyhow, for those use hardware buttons:
Go to Options > Buttons
Here, pick which hardware button you want to use. I think the Android norm is the "recents" button. Regardless, pick the button you want to use and whether you want tap, long press, or double tap. Then you will get the menu that was posted above by gbroon where you select the "open/close split screen" option.
Now you can launch the split screen mode with that button action.

Wake screen on notification disable

Hello all,
I have noticed that since the last FW update (C432) I cannot locate a setting any longer to disable "wake screen on notification".
I went through each menu item in an attempt to disable it.
Anyone have an idea where this setting has gotten to so I can turn this wake scree off?

Nope. I have pulse light notification, but the top option is gone since I installed 131(C432)

Ok.. Figured it out. I had to force stop "themes" and disable. Then reboot and the menu item returned. It was reproducible as well. If I enabled themes and set a different theme, the menu item was gone.
