How can i unbrick my phone? (no usb connection) - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was on NL1 rom, but trynig to use safestrap, i've flashed NC2 kernel.
Because of that my phone doesn't show screen after showing Galaxy note logo.
Everything works fine, but it only doesn't shows screen.
I really want to fix it, but I can't use ODIN to fix my phone.
When i connect it to pc, windows only shows Unknown device(every pc, every cable).
Is there has any way to fix my phone? (using stock recovery... etc).

Can you boot into download mode?

Of course, i can.
But also in Download mode, windows cannot recognize my device. It only says Unknown device.

Wait for pc to install driver completely after booting to download mode is what it sounds like to me. A icon in the windows taskbar tells when it is completed.

If Windows is not installing the drivers, then install these drivers. SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347818748. I always install these drivers on all my computers.

And other phones work fine.
Only my phone doesn't work. :crying:
My phone doesn't recognize usb connection when it was working normally. It only charges.

Since you flashed the NC2 kernel, restart your phone and see if you see Safestrap splash screen. If you do, then boot to Safestrap and flash this SM-N900A_NL1_KERNEL_RecoveryFlashable.zip https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=96042739161891595 from your Sd Card.

Put your phone in download mode and connect it to your computer wait for it to say, unknown device and click the Start icon and type device manager, click to open it and right click to uninstall the drivers (mine shows Bluetooth, but your' s should say unknown device). After you uninstall them, restart your computer and see if that fixes the problem. After you flashed the NC2 Kernel, did you wipe anything in Safestrap or in Stock recovery?

Tested on Windows7 and 10. Both of them doesn't work...
After installing safestrap, I cannot see safestrap splash screen while on boot. So I tried wipe data on stock recovery.
Phone boots up, vibration, sound, touch, led notification... everything works except screen.
It only shows screen on Galaxy Note 3 logo, recovery mode, download mode.

What it needs to boot right, is the NL1 kernel, but Safestrap is gone since you did a wipe with stock recovery. You can't get a computer to see your phone, so you can't flash the kernel in Odin either. Only thing I know to do is do a wipe/factory reset, then do a wipe cache partition in stock recovery. After you do that, see if it boots and if it don't you would have to put this on your Sd Card and apply update from external storage in stock recovery. Instructions to Flash the Lollipop OTA http://www.droidviews.com/update-att-note-3-with-lollipop-ota-and-root-it/. You only need the one file. BUT if you can't use your usb port, you will be stuck on non rooted lollipop. This will either pass or fail, but you can try to flash the NL1 kernel with stock recovery SM-N900A_NL1_KERNEL_RecoveryFlashable.zip (link in post #7).

I can't use ota update.zip as you know i'm not in stock firmware.
Also can't install NL1 kernel because it used not allowed zip signature on stock recovery.

You're just going to have to replace the USB Dock Charger Charging Port Flex Cable, then you can do thing with Odin then.

Bootlop (urgent)

Hi
I installed twrp recovery and then cm10.1 to test it. After a while i decided to go back to stock. Instead of using the backup i made i decided to flash official stock using odin but i only get bootloop.
What i did:
1-Changed cable
2-Removed battery
3-Removed sim/memory card
4-Flashed "param_I8190.tar"
5-Flashed pre rooted firmware 4.1.2 that i always used
6-Flashed stock, untouch 4.1.2
7-Flashed stock, untouch 4.1.1
8-Combitanion of keys does not work for recovery, only works for download mode. I can not enter into recovery mode.
9-My windows no longer recognizes my phone. Every time i plug in i get a message error.
Nothing worked. How to solve this? Thanks
Install the drivers from this tool and when you plug your phone in you have to go into windows device manager and manually install the driver you received from the tool. Its a bit tricky.

You need to do a factory reset, or the stock rom will go into boot loop.
Install the 3 button combo for recovery (you'll find the patch on the forum), start in recovery and wipe cache / data.

[Q] Bricked Galaxy Note GT-N7000 using CWM

Hey Guys. Greetings. I wanted to update my galaxy note [GT-N7000, India] to Android OMNIRom 4.4.2 Kitkat nightly build from Android 4.1.2 [Kernel version DDLSC]. Following steps led to bricking my phone:-
1. I first installed philz custom kernel [Version DDLSC CWM version 6.0.3.7] so that I could have CWM and SU.
2. Then I went to CWM Recovery mode, did factory reset. Then Wipe Cache. Then Wipe Dalvik Cache. Then I tried applying the omnirom update. It failed and gave me some context error and status 7.
3. Then I restored my 4.1.2 image using the CWM recovery only.
4. I booted into 4.1.2 and tried updating the CWM to 6.0.4.3 using ROM Manager. It succeded.
5. I went back again to recovery mode but it said again 6.0.3.7.
6. I tried applying update to CWM from CWM itself. It stuck at something like “replacing the stock recovery….”.
7. I powered off my phone. It went into boot loop once but somehow it started.
8. Then again I went into ROM manager and selected Boot into recovery mode.
9. It bricked my phone. Unable to boot since then. I cannot access recovery mode but I can access download/ODIN mode.
Here’s what I tried to do.
1. Downloaded CWM 6.0.4.3 touch .zip from clockworkmode.com
2. Renamed it to recovery.img.
3. Converted it to tar.md5 using img to tar tool.
4. Using Odin version 3.07, I tried flashing CWM.6.0.4.3.tar.md5 It stucks at NAND Write start.
Please help me recover my phone.

Few things you should have already read and understood.
1. Note N7000 doesn't have a separate active recovery partitions as the S3 and so on.. The recovery is built in to the kernel. So flashing Philz was a correct step.
2. You cannot update the recovery using ROM manager as it writes to the recovery partition which this phone doesn't use. Thus you didn't get the updated recovery.
3. Using odin will not work due to 1&2
Download the Philz kernel DDLC tar version and flash using Odin (uncheck Auto reboot). Once it shows Pass, then power off the phone and remove the usb cable. Boot into recovery using the vol up+home+power. The flash a kernel like Raw r4/r5. reboot into recovery and wipe. Flash Omni, Gapps, SU. Reboot.
Revive your phone by flashing stock firmware using.
So its not really "Bricked Galaxy Note GT-N7000 using CWM" but bricked due to sheer ignorance.

Looks like the drivers are working back after using Kies. Now I connected the device and ODIN is doing its task. Will update if it successfully finishes the job.

Got into the same problem as the OP. Wiped everyting and only have Phliz recovery. Couldn't flash CM11 because according to CM thread must have latest version of CWM (6.0.3.4) while the philz recovery I installed is based on 6.0.2.7. Couldn't flash newer recovery I downloaded from CWM site, it would just freeze and get stuck.
My solution is to just flash CM10.1.3 stable plus gapps. Worked fine. Then proceed from there.
You must have CWM 6.0.4.4 or higher, which is fully SELinux compatible for KitKat.
Just flash Raw kernel r4, reboot in recovery (of raw kernel ) and then do your flash and wipes.
You can't simply install a newer recovery on our device, as kernel and recovery are bound together, but ...THIS IS BASIC KNOWLEDGE FOR OUR DEVICE!!!
#fail²
Just resurrecting this!
After failing to flash KitKat because I had Philz kernel installed, I've got into a real mess.
I'm trying to flash raw kernel r5 but recovery isn't able to mount the SD card and so can't see the zip files on it.
I'm on a Mac and don't have Bootcamp so can't use Odin. Any suggestions?
Oops didnt realise this was kinda necroed :/
Same problem...i have brisked my N7000

Help! I accidentally deleted my OS

I know this is probably the stupidest thing one can do and since I mediocre knowledge about Android stuff I just did that. While I was on CWM recovery mode I was tinkering around the settings and I accidentally deleted the OS, this leaves me soft-bricked (is that the term)? When I boot up on recovery mode again it says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." But when I connect it to Kies it doesn't detect the phone! And when I boot up download mode it says I have Custom binaries (it says 3) which I suppose is because I had CWM? I have no idea how I could re-install my OS back to my phone and am panicking since this was my first phone. Is flashing back to stock firmware a viable option if I accidentally deleted my OS? Or so I have to do some other process? Please I am in dire need of assistance here!

Yes just flash back stock firmware with Odin.
That custom binary is probably from the time of GB because root method was increasing it. You can use Triangle away to reset it, it is free on xda.

I have kies and I always close it before opening, doesn't appear. Even the switch port thing doesn't. I'm going to try out 3.09. Odin does not have anything to do with system partition, I mean it will work anyway. Do not just close Kies, go to task manager and kill it (in Windows).
P.S. If you have any ROM in your sd card, you can go to CWM and install it. Or if you have some other phone, put SD card in it, copy ROM and install it in CWM.
Gonna use this topic becaus i think i have simmilar problem.

[Q] bootloop in cyanogen 10.1

a few days ago i dropped my galaxy s2 in the toilet(dont laugh) so i went to using my brother's old s plus I9001.
long story short,i tried to upgrade the 2.3.3 to a 4.2.2 Jellybean using this guide : http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/4579...alaxy-s-plus-i9001-android-4.htm#.VAWoGfmSzGA
i searched a few other guides beforehand,most of which stated that i need a rooted phone,so i rooted it using a guide i found on this forum(here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001)
this is everything i did :
1. Connect the Galaxy S Plus to your computer.
2. Unrar the CM 10.1 firmware RAR file you have downloaded
3. Copy the CM 10.1 firmware you have extracted from the unrar file to the SD card of your phone.
4. Turn off the Galaxy S Plus.
5. Reboot the device into Recovery mode. Press Volume up + Home + Power keys simultaneously. You can flash this ROM using the stock recovery or a custom recovery app.
6. In the Recovery mode, select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition."
7. Then select "install zip from SD card" and "choose zip from SD card." Search for the firmware you have copied on the device.
8. Select the firmware file and install it.
9. Go back and select "reboot system now."
so everything went well, until i tried rebooting the device.im stuck now at the cyanogenmod logo.basically i have a boot loop isue.
being a noob at these kind of things,my first thought was that my phone had bircked,so i followed an unbricking tutorialobviously,it didnt work.
can you please help me solve this bootloop s**t? :good::good:
First of all flash TWRP (Recovery).
Then download CM 10.2 from here and copy it in your internal SD card.
Boot into Recovery.
Do a Data & Cache wipe and finally flash CM 10.2.

Then download CWM Recovery and try it again.
Remember to flash TWRP after that.

but i cant get cmw recovery on my phone if i cant acces the memory :/
try using Aroma File Manager here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108 it won't install to your phone, it's a temporary file manager that you flash in recovery.
the problem is that i cant copy anything on my sd card, because my computer doesnt recognize the phone anymore after flashing twrp

Flash CWM Recovery using Odin.
Read this (How to install ODIN Version).
Download the following:
Odin
CWM Recovery
AriesVE.ops
If it still doesn't work I suggest you to go back to stock and repeat the procedure.

Make sure the Samsung USB Drivers are installed. Also uninstall/disable KIES (if it's installed).
i did that but it didnt work.i found out that the computer only recognizes my phone when it's in download mode,so i can only flash through odin.currently trying to flash cwm,but it beats me.currently trying to return to a stock rom, will post updates

My phone is stuck on twrp after failed flashing 12.1 cyanogenmod

I followed all the steps to flash a rom onto my s3 mini. See this picture to see the problem: http://postimg.org/image/j4invhd0v/ I can transfer files using adb, but when i boot the phone, it goes automatically to TWRP. And when i try to flash the rom, that thing in the photo happens, basically my phone is gone now... Please help, this is quite urgent.

in twrp you can also fix permissions. It's in advanced or some menu like that. Good luck!
It says failed to fix permissions.

I would try to delete as much (wipe) as possible from your phone to make it work again. Wiping doesn't remove your recovery. Or flash another recovery tar if you can get into download mode.
install odin on windows pc: http://depositfiles.com/files/m2n77b1vc
install samsung drivers on windows pc: http://developer.samsung.com/technic...000000117#none
get cyanogenmod 12.1: http://novafusion.pl/
get the odin version
when mobile powered off, hold volume down, home and power button. You get the downloadmode option on your screen, let go all buttons and press volume up button.
Now connect the phone to your pc with the usb cable and let odin find it.
Load the tar file in the downloaded zip file as pda and flash it.
If you want clockwork mod, install this as tar, also in pda flash option: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95887005526789241
If your samsung doesn't work but you can still get into download mode, view next page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2122548
and install a fail safe firmware according to your type of phone.
What I don't understand is why the flashing went wrong, I did everything right, at least I think. Wipe everything and flash the rom, why didn't it work?
