Hi guys,
I have a Nokia Lumia 635 (Windows 8.1), locked on Orange Romania. Is there a way to unlock it for free so I can use it on other networks?
I read a lot of "unlocking methods", "unlocking calculators", "unlocking whatever", in fact fakes to get money from you and I don't want to pay, I want to do it myself.
Any advice will be highly appreciated, thanks!

I see we're in the same difficult situation my friend.
Namely, I have a Lumia 625 which is locked to Slovenian operator (I don't exactly know which one).
Nevertheless, I would also like to unlock it myself (with a little help from more experienced members) to save the money and get a good feeling like 'yeah man I did it myself'
So, if anyone can help, now is the rigt time to speak up
There is no other way, only your operator can do it.

Wow, thanks a lot, you ruined all my hopes in one sentence - pretty cruel move
Anyway, I can't go to operator because i'm in Serbia, and the phone is locked to Slovenian operator. So, what now, should I plan a trip to Slovenia or something?

for Slovenia (or any EU country) if you want operator unlock your device, you must proof of purchase to free unlock device...
for your case, best solution is pay for unlock code...

Yes, that would be jus' dandy, if only I haven't bought this phone for 30 euros, from some guy I barely knew. That is the main reason why I am trying to do this free of charge, 'cause the unlock code would cost me more then the freakin' phone.. -.-
So, both of your suggestions are out, if someone has some other idea, it will be appreciated
if you get any proof of purchase from previous owner, you can online ask operator for unlock code but seems you not get any proof....
thats all, no other idea, no free unlocks... buy unlock code or sold phone...

Thanks mate, but I believe there must be a way. I'm not that bad at programming, so I'll play around and try to come up with something. Someone's gonna crack it sooner or later, and I don't mind it being me
"NOTE: I found out that my carrier is actually not from Slovenia, rather from Austria. It was called Mobilkom, and now it is A1 Telekom Austria. If someone can get me unlocked with this carrier, it would be a kick-ass situation

Ok, I checked reset status and it is OFF. One less thing to worry about.
I know it's hard to stumble upon, but I heard of some people at underground forums (unlike this one), which can give you code if they're in the mood
And it sounds quite impossible to me, that no one on the whole internet hasn't come up with a solution for this problem. It would be quite devastating.

Hi Guys,
as some of you are aware if you purchase a 02 HTC HD7 (hd3) phone you can not request an unlock code before the 12 months of your PAYG term..... after 12months you would be able to request a unlock code.....
Now, as like me I cant wait to get my hands on this device, hence I'm ordering my phone from them on Monday 25th and unlocking the device on Tuesday !
I've used this site to unlock HTC phones ONLY and they always have worked, my latest one was my HTC HD2 from O2.
So, if you want to unlock your HTC HD7 (3) from O2... click on the link below and get your unlock code, please note at a cost of course !!!

Thanks for this. Are you affiliated to them? Just seems strange to use a trackable URL shortener for a standard URL.
I have seen confirmed reports that http://www.htcimeiunlock.com/ works to unclock the HD7. Any confirmation these guys definitely work?
+1 for htcimeiunlock.com. Worked fine for my UK O2 HD7
There are a lot of websites that can get your phone unlocked.
Those two methods are some of the best ones though.

The phone is worth getting.....bye bye 6.5 !!! I have to admit though, there is stuff missing and will take time to adjust, however the user experience is amazing !
yes, i just unlocked my hd7 from O2 uk yesterday through ' htc imei unlock'
I hope you guys are right cos' i'm going to by a HD7 from O2 and rely on your websites to unlock it. If not, i'll be a saaad panda.
Many thanks for this topic. My T-Mobile contract is running out by end of November and not sure if they will have HD7. Even if they will I can't wait until then
I'm going to get it from O2 and unlock it. WAW !!
Is O2 one branded though?

How much is unlocking service from this website? Can't find the price there!
Thanks
@ curvyjomanjy: It cost me just over £16 to unlock from htcimeiunlock.
Paid by Paypal and received my unlock code within 10 minutes, excellent service.
The only branding is an O2 splash screen and an O2 theme ( which you can change ) other than that nothing.
Also O2 lock the search engine to yahoo, no google I'm afraid
O2 lock the search engine to Yahoo, or did you mean Bing?
The fact there is no option to change it from Yahoo, is disgusting. I'm actually surprised Microsoft allowed that under what is otherwise quite strict "Requirements" for using the OS.
if i get this phone, and unlock it, will o2 be able to tell? can they block the phone or anything silly like that? and if so what can i do?
and what would happen if there was a fault within 12 months, would o2 take back / exchange?

To be fair, O2 have been good with unlocking this phone through their own unlock scheme, unlike the Dell Streak exclusivity deal.
I've heard a lot of people requesting the code from O2 and getting it, but as I couldn't be done with waiting around, I got it down from a well known site on here RE the HD7 unlock for £16 or thereabouts.
By law, O2 can't stop you from unlocking, they can merely be a pain and not do it for you for free....so they're pretty good.
As for returns etc, they've been good with me in the past. You obviously have a few days to return it for a straight refund as well, which O2 honor where as some others try to fight this!
Overall, this is the one side of things O2 are normally very good for from my experience. Every other thing, they're a nightmare!
If I unlock it, how do I go about changing the network settings etc, does the phone automatically pick up the new connection settings ?

The HD7 is VERY good for this. When you enter the new sim, it gives you a list of drop-downs for the carriers....
ie.

Well if there is a fault then you would need to deal with HTC and not O2 as HTC will be the ones to fix it. So unlocking it shouldn't matter.
i just bought new O2 HD7, and unlocked it using HTCimeiUnlock.com this guys are incredible in support, very professional, and charge you USD 25, but trust me they are every penny worth.
my phone is permenantly unlocked now, and works like charm.
thanks.
just used htcimeiunlock as well and worked perfect
great stuff
When I got my 3GS from O2 all i told them was that i needed it unlocked to use it when i go home on holidays and they did it for free
Hi,

Can't you just ask them to unlock it for you? Usually almost all network operators unlock devices when you have a proper reason. I myself use the excuse of having to travel on another country for them to unlock it for me.

Always. There's usually a fee but it is still usually cheaper to pay to have it unlocked than to pay extortionate roaming fees in Europe/wherever.
Tried 4 online sites but no one that i have tried has the unlock codes. I am on 3 UK and have to wait 30 days for them to do it. Not much use when I am going to San Francisco very soon.

Nope. You can't trust people now a days, don't risk it and waste your time.
i wouldn't even think about unlocking it. These days most people don't need to unlock them, last person i spoke to about unlocking my salsa didn't even know what it was let alone have software for them....
Internet unlocks will rip you off. I did it once on an old Nokia 5000, got the code...same as the free sites, didn't work. Couldn't get a refund either.....my advice is, want the phone sim unlocked, buy a phone on the network your on!
Problem is the fone is from a relative from abroad. Its lock to vodafone. The only carrier here in the philippines are globe, sun and smart. Thats why i need to unlock the fone. Its was recently given to me.

I have a Nokia Lumia 520 with Vodafone Germany Sim Lock. Someone knows how to unlock it?- a tutorial. Or knows a Unlock Service?
Thx
If you're in a region that the locking carrier operates in, you may be able to just take the phone to them, explain the situation, and get it unlocked. If not, you could try asking Nokia directly. Beyond that, the unlock codes usually leak pretty quickly, and even the really sketchy-looking online unlock services have been surprisingly honest in my experience, but the 520 may be too new for them.
hey. have you managed to unlock it? or can anyone tell how to do it? the operators asks for more than 50 euros to unlock it...
SIM Unlock Lumia 520
same problem here guys,
a friend of my brought from US a Nokia Lumia 520, as my request. I´m in Brazil, by the way.
But It came SIM Unlocked from AT&T. The phone works well, the only thing that it does not is calls and sms. But the rest is fine.
I contact AT&T but they wont give me the PIN number to unlock. (tried several times)
So I need to find some way to do that. Either getting the PIN number, or even formatting the cell, to a "pure" WP8 (as should be an original unlocked device) - installing the original WP8.
About the warranty, I dont care. I´m Brazil and will never get acess trough, if i need it.
I really apreciate if someone can give me a help here.
Cheers!

Well guys,
I was able to format my Nokia Lumia 520, using the Nokia Care Suíte.
I downloaded the original firmware, with no Crapware from AT&T and using the Nokia Care Suite I completed the formatting.
The phone is working as it should be. Even the AT&T welcome screen has gone. But, it still does ask for the PIN Number when I put a SIM card from my brazilian carrier.
So, NO, formatting the Nokia Lumia 520 WON´T unlock your PIN Number, as I was hoping.
I need some way to get this code, if anyone could help me, I really apreciate.

Ditto, I also cannot get my Cricket 640 SIM unlocked.
You 'aint kidding!
I bought it to play with for $30 a few days ago...at the same time I was porting my number to another carrier. I've been a staunch Android guy for years. Who would have thought that I would LOVE this thing! Then of course the port goes through and my new love is a paperweight. I've tried 3 or 4 unlock places, all with the same results "Unable to provide Unlock Code". I have spent hours trying to find a way to unlock it. God I hope someone on here figures it out, I'd hate to have to sign up for the $70 plan for a month just to get this thing unlocked!
Search on ebay : Cricket Lumia 640 unlock code 1 - 48 hours Price 15$
Well, I gave in. After trying a number of free sites, and more than a few paid sites including:
UnlockBase
UnlockLocks.com
Code-Unlock-Store
UB Software
Ping
All of which had the same result (sorry, cant unlock this, here is your refund). I finally signed up with Cricket at the $70 plan. I called them to unlock it a few hours after activation. So well are those suckers locked, it took Cricket 3 days to get their own unlock code. Finally, after all those hoops, time wasted with other companies and hours looking online, I have my unlocked Lumia 640. $30 for the phone and $70 for one month of service to get code...still...could have been worse. That being said, lesson learned, Cricket does appear to be harder to unlock than any other provider out there!
Hi Other than the $70 plan has anyone been able to get unlock codes? I tried and most say that for Cricket Lumia 640 the success rate is quite low and most said Unable to provide code.
