This is for the t mobile h811 varient to get twrp on the h815 varient you need to have the european model and unlock the bootloader via lg dev website and only the european h815 is able to do that any other h815 still not capable of unlocking bootloader. Hope the info helps you

So I've read over the general LG g4 forum that the T-Mobile version has an unlocked bootloader. There's so many post over in that thread now that I don't remember, but someone mentioned that under Settings> Developer options , they have an Enable OEM Unlock. Now here's my question. Since we have that option on our sprint version of the LG g4, what exactly does that do if enabled.? Like does it have to do anything related to unlocking the bootloader?
Sprint LG G4
We can't even get into fastboot. I've tried and failed. I don't think the Unlock OEM option does anything except for disables device protection features.
On the tmo lg g4
Yes. Enable OEM unlock on the dev options.

With the TMO version unlocked you'd think we'd have a simpler root method than flashing the entire /system partition, wouldn't you?

Great. Thanks
G4 newbie here, so the bootloader is fully unlocked on the T-Mobile version then? You don't have to do the official LG Developer unlock method that currently only the 815 EUR model can do?
When ROMs drop, you have full access to the phone? Just want to confirm, I had a non EUR model on AT&T that worked great, but was sick of not having any access to the system. Does the H811 have the bands required for AT&T?
Fully unlocked. No LG dev stuff.

Question to anyone willing to answer:
How did people figure out that enabling OEM unlock made the bootloader be unlocked on the T-Mobile variant? I'm wondering because we have very little info on the H812 variant to determine if this technique would work. And please don't give me that canned answer "IT ONLY WORKS ON H815 and H811", as I know what I'm doing... I just want to understand why the H811 T-Mobile is different and if other more obscure variants could also have this solution.
Thanks!
I Attempted to flash the twrp one click recovery to my friends LG G4 H811 TMOBILE, I went to developer mode, checked the box to OEM UNLOCK, and whenever the phone reboots to Fastboot or Download mode, if done by the H811 one click bat script, the phone only reboots regularly, if i manually adb reboot-fastboot then the screen shows a barcode, and the phones IMEI number. Whats up with this?

If you want root H81110N, just go this route. Much easier and works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/development/h81110n-stock-rooted-image-t3191038

The H811 Tmo is different because the carrier, TMO, decided to allow it to be unlocked. That is pretty much all there is to it. I am sure that is frustrating to non H815 and H811 owners.

The first post in that thread says:
"T-Mobile USA LG G4 H811 10H. WILL NOT WORK ON 10N."
I have the 10N. I also don't have a Windows computer. Where can I find instructions for obtaining root? (I prefer a manual method using Linux commands if possible.)
I've done plenty of Android modding but never on the LG G4 because Verizon's evidently can't be unlocked. Just switched to T-Mobile so now I can buy the LG G4 H811 which, from what I've read, is relatively easy to bootloader unlock, install TWRP, etc etc.
BUT -- Will the instructions on these threads work with all variations of the H811 (version of Android, baseband version, etc) or only with some? I've read a LOT of threads on this forum but I can't find the answer to this essential question. If when shopping for an LG G4 H811 to FULLY unlock (bootloader, TWRP, root, supersu) there are some I should AVOID, can someone tell me which ones?

ALL H811's are bootloader unlockable. Just:
Settings --> Developer Options ---> OEM Unlocking (checked) && USB Debugging (checked)
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot getvar unlocked (to verify)
fastboot reboot
You will want to install the TWRP recovery image like so:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery <twrp.img>
fastboot reboot

It ws esy unlocking the bl in g5s+ , what about the z3 play, wife surprised me with this phone, im liking it already, but would like to unlock the bl and eve tually gain root/custom recovery ?
Anyone?
Depends on the model you have specifically, certain ones cant be unlocked such as amazon version. But the steps are the same as all other android phone bootloader unlocks, Steps can be found on motorola website:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
The basics consist of:
enable developer mode
enable "OEM Unlock" in developer settings
fastboot into phones bootloader and run OEM unlock commands
copy unlock code from phone that you get using oem unlocking commands into motorola website
receive email from motorola with unlock "password"
enter password into adb terminal
phone will be wiped and bootloader unlocked
Thats what i thought, i went there just to see , looks the same as for my G5S+ , ill likely do this. Is there guide somewhere on instally magisk as im outdated ( an old chainfire guy) just need some hints , doesnt look like twrp works , what about clockwork mod? Thats fine as well, , any good roms? Think 9 is comming?
Magisk root is straight forward. You can either get a working boot.img for your device from a firmware package and patch/flash it yourself. Or boot NOT flash the twrp images from the twrp website and install the magisk zip that way. The twrp for this device hasn't been compiled for flashing. It boots but flashing it to your device will boot loop it. No custom ROMs that I know of but I'm just using stock with magisk and it's fine once you have root to delete the bloat ware apps and install tweaks from magisk.
Hi, as I put in the title I need a stock boot_b.bin, for my LG V405UA15B.
I have tried to flash the twrp * LG V40 / Judypn *, being in Oreo8 and my lg v40 now informs me of a * kernel crash * and does not happen from there, just modify this partition, I also have the bootloader unlocked with this method * Unlock your LG V40 via 9008 mode (Every Variant except T-Mobile) *, also install a crosshflash * [Superseded] Crossflash US Unlocked Pie to your Bootloader Unlocked V40 *, in the boot_a partition and it doesn't work for me, it stays stuck on the screen of LG V40Thinq "my pc recognizes it".
What I can do?
God! I met that problem like you. How about your phone now, luislasonbra!

This is a reason why I got the US unlocked in the first place because crossflashing is risky. youll have to install the same kdz version of the 1 you crossflashed to.

Well if you have Verizon you can still "crossflash" back with their KDZ....just if you have either Sprint or AT&T models then your stuck with US Unlocked KDZ cause neither carriers have released their KDZ....but the only problems i have are ones i create and i have a Sprint Model currently running Havoc OS Android 10....
