CRR-L09 and CRR-UL00 - any difference? - Huawei Mate S

Hi, just got mine Mate S, Chinese market model(UL00).
*ttp://s013.radikal.ru/i322/1509/ef/204602070f19.png
Is there any difference in models and can I flash firmware for European version on to mine phone becouse I don't want to deal with all these 50 chinese apps
Thanks!
PS I'm switching from LG G3 and Meizu MX4 Pro, so just first impression after 4 hours of tests:
1) fingerprint works amaizing, much better than Meizu.
2) the phone body is very solid and looks nice
3) sounds quialilty is good but Meizu is better, which was expected.

Ok I have a weird question. Mine is the CR-UL00 version. It has Google play as default and no Chinese bloat. Firmware is B110 what version do I have?

Dual SIM
In the Gsmarena specs page it says that dual SIM is optional. Does anybody know which one of the two models is dual SIM?

I think it means it's optional in the sense that you can either run dual sim or one sim and a micro sd card. One of the slots act as either. I know that's how it is with the UL00 version.

Maybe you're right, although I interpret from Huawei's web page that the L09 version might have a single SIM (the GSM network specs for the UL00 shows 2 cards and the L09 only one?).

Only the CRR-UL00/64GB version is dual sim (maby the 128GB version will be to when it comes). Optional referes to that you can either have sim + sdcard og sim + sim configuration, as one slot doubles as sdcard and sim slot.

Hi,
Could you please tell me wheter is possible or not to install an european verson of android on CRR-UL00?
Is it is, can you please explean me how i can do it?
Thank you very much!

Hi,
I too have just taken delivery of a Chinese sourced CRR-UL00 and would like to know if and how it can be flashed to a European or International version in order to remove the Chinese oriented 'stuff'? I have removed a lot of the Chinese Apps manually, but would be a bonus to build as a non Chinese version.
Othewise early impressions are favourable of a very well built and good looking device... loving the rear mounted fingerprint reader.

Any news? I have seen somting about twrp and a kernel released but i really don't know how to root this phone!

Hi all,
I am about to order the CRR-UL00 DUAL SIM. However I have some questions as this isn't an European version.
Will I get support from HUAWEI when it is broke? I am not sure about this. Asked it Huawei, but they didn't respond.
Secondly what OS languages are available? Would for instance English and Dutch be available on it or other keyboard layouts like AZERTY? Can somebody confirm this?
What about the Chinese apps? Can you delete them? Or if not, put them all into a folder to deny them?
Are there other things on this Asian model in which I can run into trouble after purchase?
Kind regards

If you by this means if you will get EU warranty from Huawei, then no you should not expect that. You would have to ship it back for repair or pay to get it done localy at your own expence.

About any language is avalible on the stock firmware, Dutch and English is included. Keyboard layouts too, or you can simply download a keyboard from Google Play.

Google Service is important for China mobiles, as they are not pre-installed in China. On Huawei Mate S CRR-UL00 the will not be installed, but you can download them from the Huawei App Store "HiApp". They work without problems for me on my CRR-UL00.

Thanks a lot for your answers! Strange as I can purchase the P8 Premium Gold Edition through Vmart (Huawei) in Belgium. This is a dual sim version with the same version as the Mate S. This is sold with warranty but normally they don't advertise this model in Europe.
Anyway.. I think the Mate S dual Sim is the better choice over the P8 Dual Sim IMO. Any constrains?

Yes it is a bit strange tha Huawei seems to only sell their low spec models in EU - actually a surprise to me that you can get the 64GB P8 here. For the Honor 7 and Mate S I have only seen the 16GB and 32GB models from official stores.
I did not go for the P8. The P8 has no fingerprint reader, also the screen and general build quality is to me superior in the Mate S. The AMOLED screen is really beautiful.

I have mate s ul00
i cant find fun scales app and i cant use force touch

this CRR-UL00 version is nice but has it active dual sim ?

Galaxy note 5 dual sim: N9200 or N9208

Hi,
I have been thru many sites (and Samsung one), but I can't really see the difference between these 2 models.
They are both dual sim and comes either with 32 or 64 gb memory.
Can someone summerize the main differences ?
Thanks
Nothing except one is single and the other is dual sim.

Well, first I though that only the N9208 was dual sim, but a e-store advertize the N9200 also as dual sim.
look there: http://www.eglobalcentral.fr/samsung-galaxy-note-5-n9200-4g-lte-64go-dual-sim-desimlocke-or-fr.html
Confusing no ?

N9200 is for China market and N9208 is for Hong Kong, that suppose to be the only difference. Both are dual sim (or N9200 has single sim option also, but I know that it has dual for sure).

The 9208 im sure can be used in France. 9208 was released in the Philippines which uses the same GSM bands as Europe. Im not sure about 9200. China might have a special band like Japan or the US
If I look at the specifications on eglobal site, all frequencies used in France are available on the N9200. I was more concerned about the possibility of using french language (and the predictibility writen).
I have used the N9200 (dual SIM, Hong Kong variant, network-unlocked) in UK/India/Qatar with respective local carriers and with no major issues.
When you say "no major issues" that means you got minor ones? Which functions were affected ?
Do you get the regular updates on the firmware ?
Thanks for mentioning.
I got the N9200 Hong Kong version. And using it ever since in Belgium. No problems at all.

Go for Sm N9208 as in china market play store is banned. So you might fell trouble in installing play store in N9200.

Someone has quoted that the N9200 which is for China market does not have the "Play store" program. How do you manage that ?
Did you install it later on and are you facing any problem with it ?

The N9200 (TGY; Honk Kong variant) came with Google PlayStore pre-installed so I had no such problems.
I guess you can always install G-Apps (including PlayStore) on the Chinese N9200 once rooted.
The reason why I look at the N9200 / N9208 64 gb is to avoid a root. I did rooted 2 x GN3 (mainly for avoiding the SD card restrictions) and it's a little bit hasardous. Also we don't get the firmware updates and we loose the warranty.

I experienced really bad battery on 9208, some generic software related bug (android system was draining battery, no deep sleep), so I was forced to do root, and with custom kernel everything was ok with battery. One friend had the same issue and rooting solved the problem. Have that in mind also, but maybe other people here haven't had any battery drain issues, but worth mentioning.
Sent from my S6 Edge+
I have the N9208 and have had no any kind of battery issues till now (6.0.1) where it just seems to last as long as when I was still on 5.1.1. that's even using a Package Disabler and Greenify (for hibernating). in other words, seems to be firmware than hardware. I am using this in the US.

NO NFC on Chinese Version AL10 P9 Plus

It was mentioned in another post that the Chinese variant of the P9 Plus. I'm making another post just to help others from making the same mistake as I did. I totally bought this phone (AL-10) expecting it to have NFC and was quite disappointed to find out the phone didn't have NFC . I tried to return the phone the next day, but of course, Chinese return policies aren't quite as flexible as North America. I was totally pumped to be able to use Android pay.
I wonder if the phone NFC capable but the Chinese version of EMUI somehow has it disabled at the software level? AL-10)

Thanks! I already read that post. But I was wondering if the NFC is perhaps just disabled on the software level. I know sometimes OEM's can disable phone features at the software level even though the capability may be present in the hardware.
My options at this point are to just tough it out and have no NFC/Android pay, sell the phone and but the international variant, or wait for Huawei to come out with a smartwatch that has NFC and pair it with the phone.

Anyone here with the VIE-AL10 model can tell me the frequencies available on the phone ?
I would like to know from inside the phone itself, where there is the option to activate and use the different frequencies, what is available. I found different specifications on different websites and even the Huawei website does not list the VIE-AL10 . I want to make sure that I will be able to use it in the USA and in Europe as well .

Pre-sales questions for owners

Hi! I've been reading plenty of reviews of the p9 and there seem to be some inconsistencies, maybe you guys can help me find the right answer.
1. Two lenses. In some reviews it says that the two lenses are never used at the same time, in other it says that they indeed are used at the same time and complement each other.
2. Connectivity. In some reviews it says that in the U.S. you won't be able to use LTE, since some bands are missing.
3. NFC. I'm almost sure it has nfc, but some reviews say that it's not there.
Thanks
1) dont know, don't know how to check
2) LTE works in the US. Check the bands, and if you dont want to manually check them you can use www.willmyphonework.net
3) The L09 verison has NFC. You can see which other models do or dont on this site http://consumer.huawei.com/en/mobile-phones/p9/index.html under "technical specifications" half way down.
1. Yes, it uses both lenses when shooting colour according to what I've read (the monochrome sensor allows for finer detail to be captured).
2. As long as you buy the international versions of the P9 (L09, L19, L29), it will work in North America.
3. Of the international versions of the phone, only the L09 has NFC and expandable storage (but only comes with 3GB of RAM & 32GB memory; the L19 & L29 have dual sim and 3GB/4GB respectively)

Thanks guys, very helpful. I think that if Huawei would be clearer on the specs the reviews would be even better. Another common misconception is that it doesn't support fast charge, when in reality it does support it but it doesdidn't come with fastcharger..

The non-carrier specific models sold only in China also support LTE networks in the US. These domestic models actually support more LTE bands than the international models and pretty much work in Asia, North America and Europe. Besides they are cheaper than the international models if you can lend you hands on them. But be careful because there are also carrier locked models sold in China.
All, domestic and international, but one model of P9 are dual sim and do NOT support NFC. The L09 international model is the only one that is single sim and supports NFC.

looking to buy note 8, what is best model to buy?

Hello, I'm looking to buy a new note 8. I live in Belgium.
But I'm not sure what is the best model to buy.
So my aim is to root the phone and install a kernel or/and ROM to improve the battery life of the phone and it's longevity (I had a galaxy s3 for more than 5 years, on which I did rooting, was pretty happy about the improved battery life and the fact that it's still working fine)
I also notice that you can get snapdragon or exynos depending on the model you buy? Is the difference between these 2 significant?
So there is different model i found on the market :
-n9500 which from what I understood is the Honk-Kong or Chinese model? Seems like I should avoid it because because it doesn't support kernel or ROM?
-n950F which is european version?
-n950FD international version?
-n950N Korean version it seems.
What is your opinion on the model I should buy?
Best regards,
vifzor

-n950F which is european version?
-n950FD international version?
-n950N Korean version it seems.
What is your opinion on the model I should buy?
Best regards,
vifzor

The only two main considerations IMO (since you already stated you are going to root, so Samsung Pay is out):
N950F/D has full dual-SIM functionality out of the box, so if you need dual SIM this would seem like a smart choice
N950N can be purchased in a 256gb internal capacity version which is great if you want large internal storage
Since you are going to run a custom ROM anyway, there is no functional difference between the two, save for dual-SIM on the F/D
As others mentioned, one potential issue with the N950F or F/D is that they need to be SIM-activated in their intended region before you can use them with a different country SIM card, and people have found that the OEM Unlock (to unlock the bootloader) option is either missing, doesn't show up for 7 days after first use, or disappears after flashing new firmware or ROMs. This is not an issue with the Korean N950N as Korean models are never region, SIM, or carrier locked and do not require the local SIM activation.

mhh..
So seems like buying the N950F or F/D is like playing lottery?
I guess I'll go for the N950N then. But the price is much more expensive because of the custom fee unfortunately...

depends on the provider used, the N950N supports all 3 of T-Mobile's main bands 2, 4, and 12 and I'm regularly getting download speeds over 100 Mbps, uploads around 40 Mbps, which is faster than what my T-Mobile-branded Note 5 got in the same areas.

haha 'best' is arbitrary depending on what you want out of a Note 8. It's my preferred because I wanted Exynos, 256gb internal storage, and supported LTE bands for my carrier. For anyone who needs dual-sim functionality I would direct them to the N950F/D or I believe there is an N9500 dual-SIM model in Hong Kong. If someone just wants a Note 8 and won't need dual SIM, lots of internal space, and won't want to root it, the 'best' Note 8 is likely the one that their carrier offers.
I plan to buy N950N 256 go in South Korea because I'm scared about custom fee(only possible to buy phone from outside Europe) and I want to go to SK anyway.
But If I buy N950N in South Korea can I start using it there or should I wait to use it for the first time in Belgium? I guess it should be fine but I'm not sure.

Yes, I'm planning to buy this phone : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075Y29JGF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A613J2Y1GRBOO&psc=1
But I'm concerned also by the fact there is CDMA, is it a big deal?
Best regards,

The Amazon link you mentioned says it's not CDMA. So it seems to be an Exynos Korean version. If it was CDMA then it would be a Snapdragon Note 8 which would still work in Belgium if there is no region lock or SP lock.
EDIT, I searched google and came up with this thread about the SM-N950N all the information is on the first post. thank you

Me too, so far I have only found the single sim LYA-L09 and not the dual sim LYA-L29 version. That's the trouble with UK, they just don't want you to have a dual sim phone. One Plus does not have a single sim option, Huawei should do the same and only have the L29 version. Then it is your choice of dual sim or single and extended memory.
If anyone finds the Dual sim L29 version with free gift on pre-order, please leave a message and PM me. Quite happy to order overseas too.

So did you actually find the single sim option available to order overseas?
I am only looking for dual sim L29, I have no interest in the L09 and at the moment, I am trying to track the L29 down in the UK with the gift option, don't really want a wireless charger with a non UK plug on TBH.

I really want a dual sim version too! As most my time is spent in Norway with two phones.
Three were one of the only provider of the P20 PRo dual sim model this year.
I wonder if they have the new Mate Pro 20 Dual Sim?
Was an iphone user now just fed up with there high prices and crap model upgrades.
Keep me updated!
Anyone concerned at the fact that you cannot yet use the face scanning or in-display fingerprint with your banking apps or other apps that usually allow fingerprint authentication?
What ? are you sure ?
So no Google pay either? Maybe we have to wait for reviews. I use 1password and depend on fingerprint
The xxxxxxxXx!
Where the hell can I get the X!? I need that thing! 5kmah battery and oled screen! Genius move!
It's too big I hear. Isn't that when we heard about current phones?
If anyone knows a place that'll stock it let me now please! I'm sure wonda mobile will
I'm not too bothered which version turns up for me. I'll likely go down the same route as I did with the M10P and rebrand to L29 with Funky Huawei, ill most likely get that anyway for the firmware updates.. Had to pay a whopping sum of £4 for a dual SIM tray for that M10P as well [emoji3]
I did think though that the M20P SIM tray was hybrid and thus handles 2 X SIM or 1x SIM 1x nano SD.. the rest is firmware at that point. Just have to wait and see what arrives.

G Pay should work as it needs NFC and the Mate 20 Pro has that of course.

I believe so, yes. I will be looking out for app updates for the ones I use specifically stating that in-display fingerprint is now accepted for entry to their systems before I seriously consider buying this phone or any other with in-display..
Ordered in germany...comming from Pixel 2 XL. We will see, what happend since the P9, my last huawei.

I am on pixie 2 xl too, and kinda do considering it... But i am worry that in few months i end up goin to pixel 3 , and i cant find any info regarding the always on display... If does support 3rd party like WhatsApp? Using aod on pixie every day and loving it, but would be nice to have few months on a different devices whatsoever and then get back to stock experience again
are we to expect the selfie cam is the same as the p20 pro?
god i hated the selfie cam, even with beauty mode off and AI off the selfies came out too beautified and white washed.
