I have a problem that i wrote about in googles forum and got an answer that not worked for me, so i try here...
After i updated to Android 2,2 my Gmail and my twitter has stop syncing as it should.
My Gmail syncs for a while but then stops, and when i go to the gmail app and press refresh then the new mail comes up. For getting it works for a couple of days i have to go to settings, applications, manage applications and gmail, and there i have to clear data and cache. Then it works for a couple of days then stops again.
The answer i got is:
You can try the following for the gmail issue:
"So, to get my "connection" back:
1) Go into the settings menu for the phone
2) Choose applications
3) Choose Manage Applications
4) Under Manage Applications set the Filter to ALL. Not sure why this isn't the default but c'est la vie.
5) Scroll down and choose GMail Storage
6) Tap the botton for Clear Data
7) Head on over into GMail and VOILA!"
The problem for me is that i not have a GMail Storage..
Anyone else got the same problem?
Any solutions?
I ran into a gmail sync issue. Went to fix it but I didn't see "Gmail Storage" application in the Application list under All.
Is it hidden or renamed?
I "fixed" the problem with a factory reset but if/when it happens again I'd prefer not to reconfigure and lose game and app settings.
Thank you for any insights.
go into the app management, go to gmail, tap "Clear Data"
I did try that before flushing to factory, just left me with a wait to sync screen in Gmail. I did give that 30 minutes.
I know on my old Motorola Droid one when this happened I'd go to application management and stop Gmail and clear it then clear the Gmail Storage app. After that it would sync up happily.

Hi:
I just updated to 4.2 and now can't download from the playstore. There are updates available but whenever I try, I get the following error:
Update for xxx could not be downloaded due to an error. Error retrieving information from server. [RPC:S-5:AEC-0])
Pretty fundamental problem. Any ideas?
Tom
I have the same exact problem.

same here!
Me too. Already cleared cache and data of the play store app.
I've tried clearing cache and data from the Google Play Store in Apps as well as a force stop but no luck. I did the same with Google Play Services but still no luck. I've seen websites that recommend deleting your account and then adding it back in but I don't know if it's a good idea with the N7
Tom
I can confirm that deleting your Google account and re-adding it solves the problem.

Success!
Go to accounts >Google >Remove account.
Reboot device.
Again Settings>Account >Google >Log In.

I'm back in business.

Worked for me too. No reboot necessary.
That commonly happens for stopping and clearing data of Google Framework services. Also break Push Notifications in some cases.
Fixes:
1. Clear data and cache of Play Store or
2. Remove and re add Google account and worst scenario
3. Factory Reset

no re-install needed.
when you remove your Google account it warns you will "remove contacts, messages, and other data from the phone", but it is not as bad as it sounds because it is NOT your personal data, files, pics, vids, etc it is ONLY the Google synced data like contacts, messages, etc that YOU WILL get back when you re-add the Google account and re-sync.
TL;DR removing your Google sync account and re-adding it results in NOTHING lost and fixed the problem for me

I've had this issue numerous times with the play store not just on 4.2 update, a good set of steps to follow to recover from this and most other store and sync issues:
1. Tap Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
2. Go to "All"
3. Scroll down to 'Google Play Store', 'Google Services Framework' and 'Google Play Services' and complete the following three steps for each:
Click on 'Force Close'
Click on 'Clear Data'
Click on 'Uninstall Updates'
4. Go into your Google account and disable all the sync options so nothing is ticked.
5. Reboot your device now, do not run any of the applications.
6. Re-enable all your sync options under your Google account
7. Re-Boot again, now you can go and try the Play store and let everything sync back up, should all be 'hey ho pip and dandy'.
I know deleting your account and re-enabling solves it, but I think it's always helpful to have different ideas and options
I just got this tablet today. Shortly after the first boot, I got at message that Contacts has unexpectedly quit. I have not gotten it again since the update, however is is not syncing. It did manage to get 4 contacts, and that was it. I have forced a resync several times, but still not working.
Any idea on how to fix this? I really need my contacts on this tablet. Perhaps it is possible to install Google People?

I suggest to update the ASUS Contact app via PlayStore.
I did that already. No difference. What I did end up doing, I exported my contacts to a file, then transfered that to this tablet. It does get my contacts on my tablet, but my **** don't sync. Lol
Try this:
1. Go to Settings/Apps/All.
2. Select "Contacts Storage"
3. Clear Data.
4. Go back to your contacts and see if it populates properly now. Make sure "contacts to display" tab has Google selected.

That did it!! Thank you very much. Worked like a charm.
In an unsuccessful attempt to get OK Google Hotword Detection working, I wiped the data for Google Services Framework, Google App, and Google Play Services. Now it seems Gmail will not auto-sync, even though sync is enabled under Accounts > Google > Gmail and Auto-Sync is enabled under the general accounts menu as well.
It will manually sync if I pull down on the top of the Gmail app to trigger a sync.
Tried uninstalling/reinstalling Gmail which didn't fix the issue. Even tried deleting and re-adding one of the two Google accounts on my phone without resolution.
Other apps like Google Hangouts sync/push data fine.
Any suggestions?
I think I'd dirty flash the ROM and reflash gapps.

I think it was an issue with the data partition. Luckily I had a Nandroid available. Restored the Nandroid, let the phone sit plugged in for 30 minutes to let everything update and all systems normal again.
