MyFile, Media scanner and USB OTG devices - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6

I recently purchased a 128GB Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920I) to replace my rapidly dying S4. I used SmartSwitch to transfer most of my information from the S4 to the S6.
First thing I did was flash the official 5.1.1 firmware for it from the SamMobile website. (firmware G920IDVU2COGA_G920IXSA2COGA_XSA as I am in Australia). I then rooted the phone using TWRP 2.8.7.1 "zeroflte" and the "UniKernel 6 for TWRP".
I have a USB OTG device I plug into the phone to access files I only need intermittently. It works well except for a couple of things:
(1) How do I stop the MyFile browser from popping up whenever the USB OTG device is plugged in? It's very annoying and I use a different file browser by preference (not that I want that one to pop up automatically either).
(2) There are music files on one of my USB device, but said USB OTG are not scanned and so those files are not added to the Music Player list of media. I have installed an app called "Media Scanner" which quite happily scans /storage/UsbDriveA on my phone and thus adds the music files to the play list. However, it has to be manually triggered every time. Is there a way to get the media scanner (built-in, or the app) to run whenever the USB OTG is (un)mounted?
Many thanks for any pointers.

Not having any luck with Bluetooth and my PC.

This by far one of the toughest phones I've had. I can't use the dock to sync as it only gives it power and local Bluetooth audio.
Ok, I tried connecting to the USB cable directly. Nope, I have tried many time to copy files to the SD card. I can mount it but it will only stay connected for a short time. It's seems as soon as any other application tries to read it the phone dismounts the SD card. I can tell it to mount again but then whatever program I'm using crashes because the SD card has disappeared in the middle of a file transfer. Anyway...
So, now I try Bluetooth to the PC. Nope, the PC and the Nexus One can see each other but if I try to pair from either the PC or the phone they fail to pair. The computer pairs with a keyboard, mouse, HTC Cruise (just did it for the first time and went like clockwork) and a Plantronics head set. The Nexus One has paired with the Plantronics head set. With the HTC Cruise it asks for a pass code on the phone and the PC but the Nexus just fails without asking for anything. I have also set it as discoverable.
Help!
Edit I disconnected and unpaired the Plantronics headset and then was able to pair with the PC. The android Bluetooth implementation seems to be a little buggy. I was then able to re-pair the Plantronics headset.
The is no android desktop "sync" most of your phone data is kept in the cloud by default, so it's much less relevant. If you want to copy data to your sdcard, you install the usb driver, plug in your phone and select "Select to copy files to/from your computer" from the notification area.
However the current drivers seem unreliable in win7, we're not sure if win7 or the drivers are to blame.
As an aside if you install "ES File explorer" from the android marked you can access windows file shares via wifi.
There are _no_ bluetooth profiles for file transfer in default android.
I still think there are a lot of people that like to sync MP3s and pictures to their phone with various apps. When data plans are free and way faster than they are now, maybe I'd say that the really fast free connection to my PC is less relevant.
What is the best way to sync MP3s from the PC? ES File Explorer?

[Q] I9000M Mass Storage and a 2010 Chev Tahoe

Hey there folks, after my battle with Verizon, Bestbuy and Motorola I finally found an Android phone that would work for me (for the most part) up here in Canada. I have only had one issue so far and that would be using it in my vehicle with the USB port on-board.
I've had the phone for a few months now and never really needed this functionality until my 2nd iPod of the year was "liberated" from my vehicle over night. Now since buying the phone I've rooted, installed Darky's ROM series and formated the internal 16GB and external 16GB SD cards before putting my songs onto the external in a folder just labeled 'music'. Here is what I have just so you get a better idea:
-SG:S I9000M (Bell) with Darky Mod/ROM 9.5
-GM Chevrolet Tahoe (2010) with a standard USB port (which apparently works with thumb drives too but I might as well try to get my phone to work, charger + music = winning).
Lots of good R&R, and some really crappy techno (JK I like electronic too & classical as well as long walks on the beach).
-USB connection styles I've tried include: Mass Storage, Debugging, and Media Player (Kies no longer appears since I don't use Touch Wiz).
-The error my vehicle throws out is "Unknown device connected"
So I pose the question: do I need some config file on the SD cards, the phone or in a folder to tell my vehicle what the heck I just plugged in or do I need to put my music in a special folder? I don't know how apple does it, but I hate apple since their latest iPod update (Media Monkey can no longer sync the music without the iPod whining and slitting it's digital wrists about syncing with iTunes) which forced me to install iTunes (which I consider a virus since you absolutely have to install Qtime and it creates shortcuts everywhere and runs at startup).
Any input is appreciated, I did a quick search on XDA and I couldn't find any relevant topics, or I'm incompetent, one or the other.
TL;DR: Galaxy S I9000 + 2010 Tahoe + USB = not working
Looking at how the SGS presents itself to a host device, I believe that it hides its mass storage device (among others, such as networking and ADB connection) under a hub device rather than on its own as would happen with a typical USB thumb drive. The computer cannot read the past this hub device until the Samsung drivers are installed, upon which the mass storage device is then visible.
I tried hooking my SGS up to a digital photo frame once and the photo frame couldn't read it since it couldn't see a mass storage device. So unless you can somehow install the Samsung drivers onto your truck, I'm afraid you're SOL. At least, until a talented kernel developer here recodes the SGS's USB driver to expose the mass storage device natively.
when you plug the sgs into your truck, do you get the option to connect USB storage?
edit: just noticed you've already tried that.
yeah it might be up to the kernel dev's to do something about it - it would be great if there was an option to make it show up as a giant USB stick!
When I plug my I9000M into my desktop via USB it automatically mounts the 2 SD cards without having to do the windows "search for drivers" and under device management the 2 SD cards show up as portable devices. I think what I will do is remove the external SD card before plugging it in to see if it's confusing the onboard system (in the vehicle) by trying to mount 2 separate SD cards. My apologies for the slack spelling and grammar, I just woke up, I may edit the post later today as well as update on my progress.

[Q] Galaxy Note to iMac and Storage Question

How do I connect my phone to my computer? I prefer charging via my computer (not sure if recommend) and it would be nice to be able to put music and pictures on via my iMac (running newest version of Lion). I don't have an SD card, so maybe it's just not picking it up cause I don't have one?
But I downloaded the Android app, which says it requires Android 3.0 or higher, but I tried it and it just crashes whenever my phone is plugged in.
I don't understand the way the memory is done on this phone, why does it have "usb memory" and why does it have to load every time I turn the phone on?
Why isn't it all just phone memory? To me thats basically "you have 2GB for phone stuff, the rest is just for music and picture". Can you put apps on there? and phone stuff?

To Connect iMac with android, I recommend you androidfiletransfer (you Can find it on the web)
Difficult to explain the storage system of android but "sd card" is for internal storage while the common sd card is indicated as "external_sd"

Like I said in my post. It says it requires 3.0 or higher. Note runs 2.6.3 so can't use it.

Sounds odd to me, given that I have Note too.
Other way could be to install kies for mac, even though I read somewhere that the last version doesn't recognize Note.
The fact is that I used to have kies for mac on my macbook but I uninstalled it and the note is still recognized as usb storage (when I connect Note to usb, I need to connect the Note by clicking on "connect" on the notification window).
Does usb icon appear on your notification bar?
Other possible problem could be Lion, I use snowleopard so I can't say if the problem is due to the new iOSX.
Bytheway, just to answer your other question: no, it's preferrable to charge Note via domestic plug. The charger is 1A, specifically for Note

There is a USB logo on the notification on my phone. And when I go into setting on my iMac it says connected android, but can't click on it from them. and it doesn't show anywhere else.
On my sisters android whenever I would connect it it would pop up with something on her phone choosing what mode to put the phone in. Not doing that on my one.
edit: I've downloaded Kies.. but isn't picking up my phone.
edit 2: Says it only works with certain phones
Try Airdroid if you're on the same network, it's a pretty awesome app.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
Why dont you just use the mass storage mode? Plug it in and the internal memory will show up like a usb drive on your desktop.
are you using mtp mode or have you selected usb debugging?

[Q] Does The HTC One Support Multi Device Mounting ?

Can anyone tell me if my HTC One (FW 4.3, rooted and fully chraged) can be used with more than one mounted device at a time ?
My aim is to mount a CF card reader and a portable HDD, so I can transfer photos (RAWs) from the reader directly to the HDD.
I've bought a powered USB 3 hub and downloaded the "Nexus Media Importer" app.
But, I'm unable to make 2 devices show at once. Even if I try 2 USB sticks.
All the devices will show up individually, but not when more than one device is connected.
I've connected the USB hub to my PC and it works perfectly.
I'm not sure if the problem is the app or if the phone can't handle mounting 2 or more devices.
Thank you for any help.
Anyone ?

Nexus 7 Rooted OTG 1TB Hard Drive issues NTFS

Hello,
I have a Nexus 7 that is rooted stock ROM w. Timur kernel with OTG + Hub capabilities. OTG + Charging + Hub capabilities seem to all work fine. My problem is that I have a 1TB external hard drive that I connect to the hub and mount via Stickmount that doesn't seem to want to pull in all of my files. I installed the necessary files to ensure that NTFS read+write worked properly, and it does. The drive mounts without an issue, and all of the files show up in File Manager or File Explorer. However, a massive majority of the files aren't showing up in Play Music or PlayerPro, and I'm not entirely sure why that is. I figured that I would just take a decent amount of time for the app to "pull in" and recognize all the files on the 1TB drive, but I gave it about an hour and I'm still not seeing about 90% of my music library (as in, I'm seeing the original 20/200 or so bands that populated into the app, but no more than those after an hour).
1) Would a different app resolve this issue?
2) Would formatting the 1TB drive to FAT32 resolve the issue?
3) Does anyone know offhand why this is happening exactly?
Thanks!
