Digitiser issues - HTC Desire 510

I don't know if this is normal for this device, but I've been having some fairly unbelievable problems with this touch screen. Symptoms:
- Seems to randomly fail to register single taps somewhat often
- Occasionally stops responding to all touches for several seconds
- Touch event location is often skewed (usually down or right, I think) by anywhere from 1-10mm, seemingly at random. Sometimes it will be off by several cm.
- Multitouch events will frequently cause one of he touch events to happen averaged between two touch points.
- Nonuniform calibration? This manifests as seemingly-random sensitivity changes when dragging, or the touch circle skewing differently depending on where I tap.
I've observed the locations by turning on touch points in the dev options; Rooted, S-OFF, 3.4.0-public-v1+rbheromax kernel
I'm not even using this as my daily phone (too big and the screen kind of blows anyway), but I do use it for games and it's infuriating when these things come up suddenly while I'm playing. Is this a deficiency of cheap hardware (resolution too low for the size of the screen) or is it a software problem that can potentially be fixed?

Touch screen bug in pictures

I've been effected by this problem for a while now, it's an issue on stock and cyanogen's rom. So far as I can tell a phantom input is detected at a very specific location on the touch screen provided the primary input is within a specific range along the vertical axis.
I've taken screenshots with the Pointer Location Tool in Dev Tools and wrote a short description of what's going on in each screenshot. This seems to go show up and go away sporadically, seemingly for no reason.
Screenshots here:

If I rotate the screen once and back, the single input part of the bug goes away, if I use two fingers though as shown in one of the screenshots, the bug is still there. Then after letting the screen sleep for a minute or two, it's completely gone.
Anyone else with this problem?
This is a known problem, there are two many threads already stating this
The phone is not yet fully supporting multitouch 100% it only has pinch and zoom, CM has said he found something in the framework that is disabled and should fix this when enabled (but not completly fix all multi touch issues)
I'm not entirely sure how much of this problem is a multitouch issue. I've noticed in particular that when I touch a specific area of the screen, it registers in that place and in a second place that always has a fixed point along the y axis.
This often makes scrolling a pain as I am only able to flick up in the area above the affected location.
This problem can also make typing a pain when I type on the second from bottom row and instead end up hitting the bottom row.

A multi-touch issue masquerading as a touch sensitivity issue?

Ok, so I thought I was having a touch sensitivity problem on my Nexus 4, because often a touch or a swipe would go unrecognized...
Then I realized I was noticing it especially in these two situations:
-Turning wifi slider switch on/off
-Swiping back to a previous tab in chrome
Turns out, what was going on was when I reached that far with the thumb, my palm was touching the curved edge of the screen, making it think I was already touching with a different finger. This "numbed" the screen from my intended touch until I shifted my hand slightly, releasing the unintended multi-touch situation. This made the issue seem sporadic.
I am not saying this is what all other people are experiencing, I am just putting it out there in case someone else is unknowingly doing the same thing. I could also imagine typing errors on the far side of the keyboard for people with certain hand shapes.
It seems almost unavoidable due to the thin bezel and rounded edge, but I would think problem could be avoided with some clever "palm touch near edge" recognition code, but until then I just have to get used to not gripping the phone so tight.
-copperwatt
I think that might be the case also. In some instances, it seems like I can't tap on the screen, but it can swipe and if I reposition my hand, it will work.

[Q] S3 Mini Touchscreen Calibration

I have a weird problem with my S3 Mini. I replaced my broken screen with a samsung original replacement part - replacing run smoothly and I had no problems at all (wasn't my 1st phone and I have a lot of knowledge on electronics, even used esd mat and wrist band).
The new display itself is working fine but the digitizer gives me some troubles... if the phone is charging the screen is overall very responsive, you can tap on every corner and every tap is recognized but if the phone is on battery the phone reacts a lot different. Overall responsiveness is worse but working and recognizing every tap except in the right third off the screen. If you tap 5 times, only 3 taps are recognized.
I believe this "issue" can possibly resolved by software and/or calibration of the screen - do you have tipps?

Phantom touches on screen?

Anyone run into an issue with phantom touches on the screen? For me it's happening in the top right corner (seems to be roughly the same spot all the time). I think this has been happening since I removed it from the box on Friday. During the setup, the navigation bar would randomly become unusable, which I realize now is because there was a touch being held in the top right.
Usually, locking the phone and unlocking it will allow the touch screen to operate normally for at least 20s. On average this problem seems to be happening every 10-20 minutes for ~1 minute at a time.
Is there any kind of touch screen calibration or something like that I can run?

You said when you removed it from the box, is it brand new or a refurb? It sounds like a faulty replacement display/ digitizer.

Multi touch screen grounding issue

Hi all,
I have a problem with my phone. When I put it on a material that has good electrical insulating properties, for example on a couch and try to use two or more fingers, e.g. zooming in - zooming out on a picture, the touch sensing of the screen blocks and becomes not responsive. One finger is always sensed but 2 or more fingers are sensed only for a short time or not at all. The more fingers you put on the screen the easier is to make it stop sensing your fingers.
This behaviour is more obvious when you repeatedly move your fingers inward till they touch and outward again.
When multi touch sensing blocks, one way to make it work again is to touch with one finger of your other hand the hull of the phone, e.g. the charging socket of the phone, making in this way a kind of grounding.
For visual demonstration you can use a multi touch sensing app, such as MultiTouch or other similar one.
The problem never occurs when:
- phone is handheld
- it is charging
- it is lying upon a not so good insulator, e.g. on a wood or a whasing machine.
I have made some videos that illustrate the problem:
vimeo.com/300242218
vimeo.com/300242398
vimeo.com/300242502
The strange thing is that I sent my phone to Nokia for repair and they exchanged my phone with a new one which however exhibits the same problematic behavior. This led me to think that many of Nokia 7 plus may suffer from this problem.
Could anyone else please confirm that he/she has the same problem with their phone or not?
