Here is the situation :
I have a Moto X (1st generation), it's completely genuine, never been rooted or unlocked.
I was using Whatsapp and Airbnb apps, when suddenly a message pop up on the screen, it was like "The service com.google.IdontRememberWhat**** stopped". So I pressed the only option that was "OK", and this message instantly appeared again. Then there was a wild battle between my phone and I which consisted of an endless succession of pop-up/OK. My phone won, and I decided to turn it off which was the only thing I could do at that point.
Now, the situation is that my phone doesn't want to boot. When I start it, it stays 1-2 minutes on the boot screen with the Motorola logo, then it reboots. Endlessly. I accessed the bootloader by holding "power" and "Vol-".
The screen looks like this :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- If I try the option "Factory", the phone goes on its reboot-logo screen loop
- If I try the option "Recovery", I get this screen :
On this screen :
- If I try the option "wipe data/factory reset", the screen is stuck on
"-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data..."
for like 1 minute and the phone enters in its endless reboot-logo screen loop.
- If I try the option "wipe cache partition", the screen is stuck on
"-- Wiping cache...
Formatting /cache..."
for like 1 minute and the phone enters in its endless reboot-logo screen loop.
So, at this point what are my options apart from playing baseball with the phone ?
I see that in the recovery menu there are these two options "apply update from sdcard" and "apply update from ADB". Does anyone know if I can save my phone with these options (taking into account that my phone is locked and not rooted) ? And how ?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply !
I already went through this forum and tried the solution on your link, unfortunately without success :
- For the 1st method, RSD Lite doesn't recognize my phone.
- For the 2nd method, I have just no idea what I have to do. It only says it's easier, and gives a bunch of code lines that I have no idea what to do with as at this point I have no access to my phone files.
Any idea ? Maybe there is a trick for this much easier 2nd method.

Ok, I just figure having a thread about this might help since I haven't found any similar problem to mine.
I was using Cyanogen RC2, out of the blue the phone did not boot (stuck at the logo screen). I did manage to get to fastboot and from then on this happens:
It does not power up in any way most of the times (power + volume down, power or power + trackball). I'm trying to see the causes of this but fail to do so. Leaving the battery out for days doesn't solve it. It just sometimes boots in fastboot or bootloader.
In this not powering up state, if I charge it to the wall or USB cable, it charges. If I push any combination of powering up buttons in this state, the charge led goes off and stays off until I remove the battery and cable.
When I get lucky and power it up in fastboot, I can try flashing. It hangs 90% of the time during various states, most of the time at the begining. This means I see the green progress bar empty or in progress.
I'm trying now to flash the stock OS (boot, recovery, system and userdata). The radio is FRF 50, 4.06.00.12_7, hboot is the original, 0.33.2012.
I managed to flash different version of recovery.img (stock, RA, cyanogen) but booting in recovery mode from hboot menu just restarts the phone.
When fastboot works and the phone hangs during the flash process, I have to remove the cable and battery and start over.
I did manage to flash a system.img once, don't remember what version, but that did not get me nowhere (might not have matched my radio).
Any ideas are welcome, like using the SD card somehow instead of fastboot over usb.
PASSIMG.zip
You can try the passimg method-
1. download a stock image and rename it PASSIMG.zip
2. Place the file on the root of your sd
3. Power off your phone, then turn it on by holding VolDown and pressing Power
*It will start up in HBOOT mode and will prompt you to flash the PASSIMG.zip update

I've read about this, that's what I plan to try next time when I manage to start the phone. Do you know if this works automatically when powering the phone or it expects the recovery mode (choosing Recovery from the boot menu) to work (because it doesn't)?
No it reads the img with out needing to be in recovery it will up date in the bootloader
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Some progress on the not booting sometimes, if I insist, it will boot after 4-5 battery pullouts.
I tried 2 versions of PASSIMG.zip from shipped-roms
PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_1.11.1700.1_EPE76_release_signed.zip PASSIMG_Passion_Google_WWE_1.14.1700.1_EPF30_release_signed.zip
No luck, the flashing hangs at the end as shown here:

Hate to ask such a basic question but are you definitely holding the *down* volume and power key? I think I had something similar happen to me once (and only once) but I think I'd been holding the up volume instead of the down and thought that must have caused it...
Yes danny, im sure im holding the volume down, no matter what I do , the phone would boot to this only screen
Have you tried ADB?
Have you tried booting in the hboot via fastboot?
yes did try ADB, but computer won't recognize the phone
Looks like the recovery image on your device does not exist or is corrupted. Install the recovery image (ClockWorkMod) via the bootloader or via fastboot. Both are easy methods. Just search for the installation process in the forums.
I'm really sorry nobody with a bit more experience has managed to find anything much to suggest so far, I really feel for you! Googling around a bit I found this for another HTC phone - might be worth trying.
Pull the battery, hold down the volume up key and stick the battery back in and press the power button keeping the volume up held down. After that (apparently that does a different type of boot again), pull the battery once more, this time hold down the volume down button and stick the battery back in. Hit the power still holding the power down and see if that lets you back to recovery...
It's not much but better than nothing ands worth a try. The other site it was mentioned on it worked for getting back to the recovery menu but it was a different device...
Thank you danny for mentioning this, i already tried that too, i think the device is bricked , i am going to try a box one of my friends has, then ill post what will happen here..
thank you again for all who shared their knowledge
That must be a new method of bricking a device. Never heard anything similar. One should think twice before updating YouTube lol
Sent from my Incredible S using XDA
can you try one more thing?
- Get a ROM with the recovery image contained in the zip file. The name should be recovery.img. If not get a recovery image for IncS and copy it over into the ROM's zip file
- Then rename the ROM zip file to update.zip and put it on the SD card
- Then boot the phone using the Vol Down+Power button to go into HBOOT
See if HBOOT will detect this update.zip file and automatically flash the ROM.
Nothing but that screen i am able to get, no hboot no recovery, i used the ORT box, to fix the hboot, and now working like charm
I've never encounter a situation where after youtube.apk update you need a reboot..
Are you sure it was 'just' the youtube you changed. Also was it offical via Playstore?
Hi,
After getting the lollipop update notice, i downloaded and tried installing the same. But after reboot at about 2/3rd installation of new system it aborted with no error at an icon with dead android. This icon persisted for a long time and i rebooted the mobile. Now it is stuck at "powered by android" message with no progress.
I have tried so far:
- vol down button and power: Recover option. This gave me no command error.
- vol up button and power: delete /data and /cache. The mobile automatically rebooted and is stuck at the same message - "powered by android"
How I can recover my mobile? either to stock 4.4.4 or 5.0
My cell is stock 4.4.4, dual sim 1068 (Indian version)
Thanks for any help..
I have the same problem as you, have you found any solution yet?

If you can get to fastboot mode by holding power and volume down till screen goes blank -- count 1,2,3,4,5 release both and recovery should come up.
run my installer in signature, ignore device not found and hopefully it will flash your xt1068

External Reset
If you are unable to access the phone's menu to perform the standard reset you can attempt an external factory reset.
Notes:
When using this feature; everything is deleted from the device.
Reset will require a minimum battery level of 25%. If you are unable to perform a reset, please charge for 20-30 minutes and try reset again.
1. With the phone powered off, press the VOL DOWN KEY for 2-3 seconds then POWER key then release.
2. The device will display different BOOT OPTIONS (THIS IS BOOTLOADER SCREEN)
2A GOTO 3 TO RESET OR RUN MY SCRIPT FROM SIGNATURE ( YOUR CHOICE)
3. Use the VOL DOWN Key to SCROLL to Recovery and VOL UP Key to select
Tip: If the device reboots, you may have waited to long to make a selection, you will need to begin the process again.
4. The device will display the Motorola logo and then the Android in distress ( logo with Exclamation mark)
5. Press and hold the VOL UP key for 10-15 seconds. While still holding the VOL UP key tap and release the POWER key
Tip: You can try this step, holding the phone in landscape. If you are stuck on step 6, try a force reboot by pressing the Power key and Vol Down key, and start the process again.
6. The device will display additional menu options (Text will appear in BLUE)
7. Use the VOL DOWN Key to scroll to Wipe data / factory reset and the POWER Key to select this option
8. Use the VOL DOWN key again to select YES - delete all user data and press the POWER key to CONFIRM
9. Once the Formatting is complete, press the POWER key to confirm a REBOOT
10. The device will reboot and start the normal power up sequence

Totally stock XT1058 on Rogers, locked bootloader, no root, phone was encrypted under KK. Updated to 5.1 OTA a couple of weeks ago, and everything has been fine until today.
Installed a couple of app updates (Nova launcher, Falcon Pro, Google, Google keyboard), discovered my launcher had disappeared (as in exiting the play store left with me with no home screen or ability to access app tray). I rebooted in the hope this would help.
The phone now won't get into the launcher. Instead, the boot animations display, I get prompted for my PIN/encryption key, and the animation continues, but the screen stays blank. I've occasionally seen glimpses of the home screen, but it's non-responsive.
The phone is alive as I can call it and it will ring, but I can't answer. It is however running very warm.
I can power down the phone by long-pressing power button and touching the "Power off" prompt.
I can bring up the fastboot menu by holding volume down for a few seconds and tapping the power button:

As it's unclear, the first two lines read:
Code:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
30.BE (sha-34b7ccb, 2015-04-22 12:57:17)
Below this is information about the memory, and that the Device is Locked, Status code 0.
Blue lines are the boot options.
However, selecting either the "Normal Powerup" or "Factory" options just kicks off the same sequence (i.e. boot animations, prompt for PIN/encryption key, more boot animations, blank screen). Selecting the "Recovery" option just gives me the broken android screen with "no command" (following the "External Reset" instructions here).
The screen obviously works, as I can enter the PIN and select the power off prompt.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?
Might be a corrupted SystemUI. A factory reset should do the work.
I have a similar problem only I updated to the 5.1 with the official OTA today.
Phone also encrypted in KK but on first boot said data got corrupted and prompted for factory reset on screen which had an unresponsive button...
Reboot basically lead to asking for password and then the same situation of some animation then blank screen.
For me loading up the fastboot menu works but trying to go into recovery for wipe just leads to a screen saying No Command

So playing around, I managed to factory reset my phone by just using fastboot to wipe my phone with the fastboot -w command.
It almost seemed like it didn't work but then I decided to try and let it reboot and I guess the wipe ended up being successful in the end.
Maybe it'll work for you?

Good call, thanks - that worked.
For anyone having similar issues:
a) Power off the phone
b) Restart by holding the volume down key for a few seconds, then hitting power. This will boot you into the fastboot menu.
c) Connect the phone to your PC
d) On the PC, open a command prompt as an admin and issue the command "fastboot devices" to check the phone is visible
e) Issue the command "fastboot -w" to clear userdata and cache
f) Wait for the phone to reboot
I flashed my Lenovo A7000a (MT6752) to update to android 6.0 (it was rooted)with the "format all then download" option on SP tool. Now when i try to switch it on it shows a blank screen and dies. When connect my phone (power button down ofcourse) to pc with the SPTool download button activated, I am able to flash my phone again, but result is the same. The autorun for LenovoSuite even pops up when I connect the phone to PC. I am thinking that I may have flashed the wrong/bad ROM to my phone, will update again
Update: Flashed with "download only" option with an older ROM, phone is able to boot, but with the same blank screen, and I can press the power button to turn the screen off, or on. Not able to boot into recovery mode, meta mode, or whatever anything, just a white blank screen.
