ISIS app and root question

Hello,
I was rooted on 4.3 with Kingo. I never used the ISIS app before. But after I did the upgrade OTA to 4.4 I of course lost root. But the app is still saying i'm rooted..? Is this some kind of flag that it detected that I have been rooted before? I did some searching on how to enable it but I need root access again lol

You still have the superuser app installed probably because you didn't unroot before the update and it can't be uninstalled till we get root

You are one of the many of us who simply didn't unroot before we either patched or received the OTA update.
We're waiting paitently for root.

Aw figured as such. By resetting the phone what's the best way to get everything back the way it was before I do a reset? Is there a simple backup app?

resetting wont fix it only way is to reroot then unroot to remove superuser so your stuck till we get root on 4.4.2

The only thing you can do is go to the Samsung Experience at Best Buy and ask them to flash the 4.4.2 ROM over what you have now, do a few factory resets after that and the Custom issue will resolve itself.

[TUT] root WITHOUT tripping knox

Hi everyone.
I'm no-one special, but I have rooted several phones. I usually wait till the ability to revert or not trip a counter (knox in this case, but most stock bootloaders have one these days afaik ). I had some spare time and have been researching for the last few hours getting my facts straight before I attempted anything. I now have root.
I'm only writing this because it wasn't too clear on the forums about rooting without tripping knox, even after some searching and reading the stickies.
I have just rooted my S5 (SM-G900F). I can confirm that the knox counter isnt tripped using a samsung phone info app i found (also double checked in dl mode).
before we start, heres some notes:
- So as far as I understand, towelroot works on more than just the SM-G900F but i suggest you check first.
- Using odin will add to your counter if you flash anything other than stock with it afaik. This was the same for me on the S3 but I had triangle away.
- Installing a custom recovery via odin will add to the knox counter obviously.
- Installing a custom recovery via another method might trip knox.
- Flashing a custom ROM will add to the counter. (couldnt anyway without custom recovery)
- Boot into download mode using VOLDOWN, HOME, POWER and click continue (i suggest un-plugging it) this will show u the counter.
- Quick view the counter with this app: Phone INFO Samsung
-With root access it might be possible to do something that will trip knox, even with it "disabled" by supersu. be careful. :angel:
- apparently if you trip knox, you cannot update the radio. quote from alan shore
- OTA updates will probably remove root
- Most places, if you trip the counter, your warranty is void.
- you can fix s health issuses caused by xposed by editing the build.prop (not sure how same that is with knox)
Heres how I did it:
(0. I actually did a OTA and security policy update check before attempting this.)
1. disable security policy updates (security) and automatic updates (about) in the settings. This is just in case. Updates might remove your root.
2. Download tr.apk from towelroot.com/ by clicking the icon. Please note that when i did this Avast AV flagged it up, which i then disabled and re-downloaded the file. Use at your own risk. I had no problems...
3. Enable Unknown Sources (settings->security), copy the apk to your sdcard install. I again got a flag from avast... i clicked ignore
4. Run it. Might take a little while...
5. Install SuperSU from the market.
6. Run super su and let it install the su binaries.
7. Depending on what you want root for, you may wish to disable knox using super su (i intend to use xposed so i did). When I attempted to let it disable knox, it failed. As it instructed, I rebooted and ran it again... all done.
Now I installed root checker and titanium backup and had a play. root works. I rebooted and checked download mode, knox counter : 0x0 root is still there after reboot. all done! Make sure you have read and understand the notes before you go off using root.

I do not claim to have made anything. a big thanks to all the respective contributing devs, esp chainfire for his never ending development for android, and geohot creator of towelroot for making it all possible.

a) knox was not tripped
b) root installed
c) device status remained official!

So lets say I have rooted my phone with Towelroot. When I want to go for service or I would say to get a warranty back. How do I unroot it?

Install superSU from Play and inside the app choose to unroot. Data factory reset and that should be it.

Mattyyey, maybe noob question. Root will erase internal memory? Will do factory reset?

Rooting should not be removing the internal memory. (Correct me if I am wrong)
They should just give you a 'superuser' right for you to be able to modify the system files, etc.

No this doesn't wipe anything, it just allows things to run with elevated permissions(root apps).
Also been exploring some more... I also now recommend you do a nandroid using online nandroid backup app as it'll do a nandroid without recovery. Then I installed exposed framework and am having fun with that hehe
Also you might wanna install busy box (titanium backup has its own)

That`s to be expected off course after you gain root (admin) privleges

Not able to disable knox in super su. In su start to disable and hold on...

Yes you can unroot using super su.The first time I tried it didn't work.so I rebooted and it worked great root checker app confirm that my ph I ne fors not have root access everything looks as if it has never been rooted...thank you to all devs great work root and unroot has never been so easy.....

Knox alert

Hi guys, I wanted to get Brazilian Portuguese language at my AT&T Galaxy S5 so I got root access (Supersu said that Knox was disabled) and installed SafeStrap Recovery.
Everything worked fine then I flashed the Stock International from the International Forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2761682. It works fine but I think it tripped Knox and I keep getting a message asking me to reboot.
Now Supersu cant disable Knox.
Does anyone know how to fix it?

How exactly? Can I remove it?

Titanium backup pro. Not sure if you can remove it safely. I tried a couple of times and the system wouldn't boot up. Just the Samsung and at&t logo. Flashed the stock files to get it running again. Didn't remove anything this time, just froze a bunch of apps. I am familiar with removing stock apps on Sprint phones but not when it comes to safestrap. I watched the install video but I'm missing something apparently.

Unfortunately I discovered that after I flashed the International rom my phone is not rooted. Although I have installed towelroot and it said it worked it doesn't. Anyone can help me to root it?

If you did not flash the bootloader, you could try this guide.

Then re-root afterwards.
If the bootloader was flashed, then you may be out of luck.

Problems after rooting, Help!

2 days ago i rooted my G800F with CF-auto-root through ODIN. (Used the latest CF-auto-root from here , with ODIN v3.10.6)
But after that my device is too laggy!
Much slower as it had 512 RAM. Root success was confirmed with Root Checker
SuperSU was also installed but sometimes i get a message that SU binary isn't installed.
I 've tried with "ROM toolbox" and "System App Remover" to unistall some system apps but i got the message "Failed to Unistall xxxxxxx app". But if i entered again "ROM toolbox" i found out that the xxxxxx app wasn't there. It has been unistalled!
Once Play Store didn't let me upgrade some apps, because it said that i must logged in to my account (which i was already logged in), and others problems like that!
What shall i do now?
Root again the device? Unroot the device and root again? Unistall Knox? (i've read somewhere that Knox is responsible for problems after rooting). Find another version for CF- auto-root? (the latest is for Build ID LMY47X.G800FXXU1BPB2 but mine is LMY47X.G800FXXU1BPC4 if it matters)
Please help!

Yes, if you have root you must disable Knox. If it doesn't help, you can try go back to stock to see if it's a hardware issue (it will still lag), then root again if everything is fine for a day or two...

I have this device for about 2 years. These problems have begun just after rooting. So, i believe it is not a hardware problem.
By saying disable Knox you mean delete/unistall or freeze?
And how can i do that?

I would first use Link2SD to freeze all related to Knox and Security log first. If everything went right, backup and delete files.

I freezed all apps and having the word Knox in their names. The phone isn't so laggy now but if i open some apps for rooted devices such as Busybox or Rom Toolbox they can't operate and got a message that my device isn't rooted. After that, no others apps for rooted devices are working! The SU doesn't open at all! All will work again after restart (except ofcourse Busy box Rom toolbox)
So what shall i do?
Unroot and root again? Root again over the previous root? What else?

I thought that CF-Auto-Root disabled Knox protection when used, but maybe not... I think there is an option in SuperSU to disable it, you must use it as soon as you open it after using CF-Auto-Root and booting again to Android. If it doesn't have this option, it's not only Knox that makes the security system that prevents root, there is SecurityLog too (and on MM I think I've seen Rootpd that probably is a root protection daemon). Probably it removed su when you were disabling Knox. If you can root again over the current state, probably you can try disabling security system completely this time. Check other threads about rooting G800F, probably there is a list of apps you must disable.

The SU isn't permanently removed but only temporarily, because after restart it is working again
I 'll try to unroot and root again and we 'll see what happens

SuperSU is the app, su is the superuser daemon. Good luck.

So finally the problems are still here. The device is no longer laggy, but the root sometimes works sometimes doesn't.
I root again over the previous root, again the same. I unroot and again root, the same. I install a custom recovery and flash the SuperSU, the same results.
Initially working fine, giving rights to the applications but later sometime does not. With restart reverts briefly again.
What on earth has gone wrong? I have root many devices and all of them were working perfect!
I would like to avoid factory reset because i don't know how to restore my backup without problems.
Is there another solution?

Knox disables root, it can even revert custom recovery. Did you disable it, as well as Security Log (disable its updates in settings first), as suggested previously?

Yes, i disable some apps with the word Knox in them. I don't know if is still a Knox app with a different name. Is there a list with Knox apps?
I didn't disable the Security Log neither its updates. Where can i find them?

So, finally i have a rooted device which randomly unroot itself!
And nothing can be done!

Why do you want to disable knox?
If you just want to root then just root, knox will be disabled when it detects root.
Most of the time ppl root without disable knox as many apps won't run with knox triggered or disabled.

I try that with supersu but fail supersu cant make cause still not work %100 for this problem
