HTC One M7 GPE Camera - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So... I know the M7 is showing its age in the phone world. But personally, I still very much find it one of the sexiest and sleekest phones around.
I have owned the ATT M7 before and I have come across the pink tint issue with the camera with that phone.
I'm thinking of purchasing this phone once again, but the Google Play Edition variant.
I've read online that it's the Zoe feature emitting a ton of heat when used, thus causing the tint issue. I also read in multiple threads that the GPE model does NOT have Zoe and in other threads it does, so hence why I'm asking you all who own the GPE model and not a converted one.
Does the GPE M7 have the pink tint camera issue?
Thanks in advance for any info regarding this from everyone!

Yellow tint on my HTC One Screen and More problems

Hi I have an international version unlocked of the HTC One and was very happy with it, thing is I just bought a new one from my carrier in chile thing is:
Screen has like a yellow tint that the old one did not have I will post a picture where both are set in the maximum brightness. The problem is I send it to my carrier so they gave me a new one but it has the same issue. Is it that HTC is designing some of the one's with worse quality screens, I am pretty disappointed with this.
Second thing is even more strange, I had no problem transferring my S3 content to my "old" One, but in the new one when I go to the transfer content menu on settings, it sends me directly to the "others" categories so I cant choose all models just windows phone, blackberry or older phones. Not letting me transfer the data from my old one to the new one. I cant choose iPhone or newer android phones.

There is no issue with your screen, read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202869
Shoddy replacement parts?
I disagree. I just received a replacement HTC One due to the camera losing auto focus and the purple tint problem. The replacement phone (from Verizon) has a slightly yellowish (or as some call it "warmer") display than my original phone. Verizon sent me another replacement and it had the same problem. It sounds like someone is trying to pass off cheaper LCD's now that the phone has been out awhile.
Damn...

There is nothing to agree or disagree here (no disrespect). The fact is that HTC uses lcd from different manufacturers or different batches. Thats why some displays are warmer than others.

Sprint HTC One M8

What is everybody think of the M8? how does it compare to the M7? Personally I think its a HOME RUN except for the camera. They should of gone with the same ultra pixel concept but with a higher mega pixel camera, at least a 8 mega pixel, and the front facing camera being a 5MP? Thoughts?
This may be a stupid question, but you did flash the Sprint version of the kernel right? I don't think 14.0 is out yet for Sprint, but 13.1 is. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295596

I think the "Megapixel Race" mentality is silly. Read the science behind the Ultrapixel tech. I believe that in 90% of cell phone camera use the M7 and M8 are superior to other phones. If you need something more than that get a DSLR.

exactly. my friend is a photographer and fails to understand the tech in ultrapixel. he went with the galaxy s4 because of the higher megapixel count. s4 has a better camera, but as soon as he read 4 megapixels he shied away from the phone. i wonder if most consumers do this
the m8 is great imo. sprint spark is pretty nice, pulled 54meg down and 5up on it yesterday, and ive got a pretty stable lte connection with it in my house where my m7 had very spotty lte in my house and many other areas of the city i frequent. id say it was on lte 70-75% of the time and so far my m8 is on lte 90-95% of the time.
Played with the m8 at a Verizon store and its sweet. On Sprint now. Deciding whether to leave for T-Mobile or Verizon. Thoughts?

Having had the M7 and just got the M8 I can honestly say not sure if it is worth the upgrade.
I always have been a bit disappointed in the HTC One and Sprint concerning their data reliability. The M8 does improve that a bit but not completely.
With that said, not enough new features, to include Spark to upgrade for the cost to upgrade. Not sure I like the headphone jack on the bottom of the phone, or not having hardware buttons instead of on screen (which 1 takes some screen space, and 2 sometimes hidden full screen). Haven't added any more memory, use to the 32 gig from the M7.
Does have cool function of the dual lens, able to refocus after the fact, etc.
This is why I'm anticipating next year's one with the new 64 bit snapdragon 810

[Q] HTC ONE T-Mobile getting pink/purple tint issue after sense6 update.

3 days back I updated my HTC one m7 T-mobile to Sense 6 update (s/w ver 5.14.531.1). I realized the pink/purple tint issue is coming more than ever. I guess it was before there also but very less perhaps. But now i cannot click a pic. All the colours are like faded n blue-ish.
I read on threads its an h/w issue with HTC and they often replace the camera sensor form Omnivision to Sharp. So is mine also the same issue ?
Also can anybody help me know about HTC warrant, i brought this from US (t-mobile) currently i am in india . Do HTC india entertain these warranty cases ?
Here is a screenshot of my HTC-one in complete dark case.
Thanks a lot.

[Q] HTC m7 made in first q1 2014

I got a question my HTC m7 was made in 01-03-2014 will any way suffer purple tint issue? I frequently use camera, is there any mod to avoid putting 100% brightness when using camera? Thanks in advance.[emoji4]

Replacing the m7 camera with a different type

Hi,
As most of you know, for many people the HTC One m7 has a pink/purple camera issue, likely caused by overheating. Bearing this in mind, i opened up my HTC and replaced the camera with another original camera module and added some extra copper tape to conduct some heat to the middle panel and store extra heat as shown in the pink/purple fix tread. After putting my One back together the exact same issue was still present. Now to come to my actual question; is it possible to replace the m7 camera module with a non-original camera? i.e. the camera from a samsung s4? I have not much insight into the software and hardware possibilities. I am willing to try anything if you have a good idea, i can solder quite well and i can follow any software editing guides. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Morris

Whoa
Good and great experiment
It can happen as you can see htc m8 & m8 eye are almost same except camera software also twin just camera module libs are changed
Yes you can camera physically but i don't think you will get software support as m7 is old now for developer's
You can try thid one take m8 eye camera + software libs
Ask m8 developer's about porting that lib module to m7
Thats sounds like a great idea, i will look into that.
However i looked around and it seems that the HTC One mini 2 rear camera is a much better physical fit than the HTC One M8 for the M7
Also, the rear camera from the HTC One Max and Mini are the same. This camera seems to also physically fit into the M7. Even more likely so, because it is also a 4MP camera, if you look at the images you can see the M7 camera has some extra chips though, I'm not sure what those do.
I had inserted the images into this message to show you, but XDA-forums wont allow me to post links.
Please see for yourself.

I am looking into replacing my M8 camera with the M8 Eye camera. However, I am having a difficult time finding an M8 Eye camera sensor for sale. Do you have any idea where one would locate this part?

I would try Ebay, might also worth to ask in the correct forum This is the M7 forum. I'm sure guys in the M8 forum could help you find one.
Good luck
Haha good point. Thank you for the quick reply. Do you happen to know which lib files are necessary for camera operation? Furthermore, when "porting" lib files does anything special need to be done to them, or can I simply copy them from the phone that the camera was taken from and paste them in their respective directory?

Did you ever get anywhere with this? I just brought an HTC One M7 back to life after it having been dead for years, and it's got the purple camera issue.
I started looking for a replacement camera from another model, and went searching to see if anyone had tried this. Do you have anything to report? I'd love to hear it, if so.
