Is there a fix or a possible kernel that addresses the overheating of lg g2. Im currently running on tesla. My screenn tends to ghost touch and malfunction when it overheats.
Not experiencing ghost touch or phantom but love to keep my device cool. Did you find anything how on to keep the device cool? There must be a way to down volt it maybe

Seems like a great percentage of owners are having hardware problems, do you owners think I should hold off on buying it or is it a chance thing?
No problems here. Its rock solid
Remember, that the very few that have issues are normally the most vocal. I bet that over 90% of all owners are not experiencing hardware issues.
Note: the only thing I have seen about this device is that some report the pink hue issue in camera, and even though mine don't do this, I'm not worried since it can easily be fixed by a software patch by HTC like the hd2
that is so true. Thanks for reminding me of that golden nugget
Plus if you do have any issues with the device (which is unlikely) then you can always get it replaced for free.
To say great majority is.funny. how did you come to.that conclusion?
Mine is great.

Hi,
when im using GPS-Navigation my Milestone always becomes very hot after a while of usage.
It does not seem to be App-dependent since it became hot when using Navigon as well as when using Sygic.
Mobile data is disabled, screen at auto-brightness and CPU at 800Mhz max.
Does this occure to someone else?
Is this normal or can it brick my phone?
I dont want anything to melt inside my phone (j/k its not that hot actually..)
yup ...
i put it in front of the car vent system so ac can coll it down
but this is common, i have a friend with a htc desire that has the same problem and same solution.
Alright thank you. So im not alone..
But could it become so hot that it damages some HW-Parts?
Mine also becomes fairly hot when using GPS and data connection - even on stock rom without any overclocking - so this seems to be "hot by design"
But I guess the heat could cause a 'bubbly' keyboard to fall apart.

i think so .. that's way i use that method to cool it down.
I've used the milestone gps to log my sailing activities in the sun and ambient temperatures of +30degC. Never had any problems to say the least except for the hot rear. IMO its normal for the milestone to run a bit hot coz i've also noticed similar issues when using only wifi. So don't think there is much you can do. Just thank motorola for building a tough piece of kit.
Does the htc one still get extremely hot? I would like to know because I'm stuck on 4.1.2 in the USA and am patiently waiting for 4.3 and I'm curious if that was fixed in 4.2.2

Bump, I would really like to know this I just want a simple yes or no to if the phone still gets really hot after the 4.2 update
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4
So far I didn't see the phone get hot. It can get a bit warm but nothing else. All stock 4.2.2
Thank u, warm doesn't sound bad so my only flaw with this phone will be fixed when I get my ota!

One reply can't tell you anything. It depends heavily on how it's used and what's installed.
Keep in mind this phone has a metal case so heat from inside is conducted out much more easily, so it feels hotter than a phone with a plastic shell. This is actually a good thing since it means the phone can cool itself more easily.
Hot whenever i play my games > 30min Or Youtube > 30min
Any other usage doesnt seem to make it hot.
As i am from singapore, the surrounding environment alone makes it feels warmer already
It only gets too hot (but not extremely hot) if it's on a charger and I'm playing graphics intensive games or watching YouTube for half an hour. But that's normal. Any electronic device produces heat. And without an effective cooler it is 100% impossible for any device not to get hot when "under heavy load".
TLDR: it gets hot when pushed but not out of the ordinary.

Yea see I understand it will get hot under certain circumstances but I was curious if the heat felt more tamed after the 4.2 update

heat is reduced in 4.2, they changed the thermal configurations. but i have no idea where you live. if youre in singapore, then theres no way itll stay cold. if you live in greenland then itll never get hot.
From what i read, the metal casing acts as the heatsink for the CPU, so really all that heat you can feel is whats being taken away from the inside which is pretty much a good thing

Let me put it another way: the heat is absolutely not a problem.
Don't know how it was on 4.1.2 since i got mine a little later when 4.2.2 was already available and i downloaded it in the first 5 minutes.

I could not find any similar thread so I created a new one.
I got the Moto G (2014) on amazon, it's the US GSM version. The phone was fantastic, nothing I can complain. But it got so warm shortly after surfing webs and taking a few pictures. I feel like the hot part was around the camera, not at the bottom of the phone. Anyone ever faced this issue?
Thanks.
I got this problem too, with simple tasks and smooth games the phone heats up only at the top... Hope Android Lollipop fixes it

If it's due to the software problem, I'm happy. I was afraid the hardware caused it, or the device was defective.
If you had a nexus 4 you will see the heating, this is nothing compared to that one, I only feel heating when use the camera, in the nexus s I had the same problem the smartphone heated to the 50/60ºC if I use more than 2,3 min...
Don't be scared about that, if the smartphone get to ho, will turn off to prevent hardware problems...

Too bad... 50 C degrees is too hot... My Moto G was 40C, I worried if it's really a problem

USB port broken? stock ROM isnt really capable anymore to handle normal usage smoothly. (in my experience, it lagged heavily after 1-2 days, only reboot helped) I suggest to use a custom ROM.
peace
I hadn't thought about the ambient display causing problems like this. I guess it's a concern we should all be aware of. I'd rather not use a pin code to keep this from happening.
Anyone else concerned about this?

I turn on password protection. So if if an accidental press wouldn't bother me.
I never use any extra lock screen protection myself. So I'm kinda concerned.

Yep, this has been an issue for me in the few hours I've had it.

Not near enough to discourage me from this phone but still slightly annoying to know it could be an issue.

I'd be surprised if folks at Google didn't used proximity sensor to filter noises like this.
Not an issue for me. Never keep phone in pocket but rather death grip on rt hand.

The face detection is an option. I think I read it will work in the background while ur swiping the unlock. I plan on trying it out.

I wonder how much this would affect battery life. Even with a password to prevent unintended calls, opening apps, etc. it would still cause the screen to turn on more often.
From what I understand, ambient display could be turned off. Although I would think that would be the last thing I do. But let's say for kicks that you did turn it off. How would it work without it?

Someone on Reddit posted today that the update that went out yesterday/today fixed the pocket dialing issue. I haven't seen anything official yet or had enough opportunity to test the statement though.
That's interesting. I wonder what changed to fix it. That is, if that's correct.

Update did not did it. Miss moto display already. They should have such with Motorola's way of doing it.

Try using dynamic notifications. It's almost exactly like active display
I've raised this as an issues on Android's issue tracker:
