Hey all, with such a decent graphics/cpu, should the diamond not be capable of providing better quality video and audio?
Can this (or has) this been upgraded with other software?
Cheers
Gary.
'better quality' than what? 'better quality' compared to what? 'quality' in and of itself doesn't mean anything without reference to something else. Have you got a particular handset in mind you're comparing the Diamond to or something?
Without some kind of context here your post is utterly meaningless.
I think he just means better quallity in general given the spec of the phone!!
My old Nokia and old Sony ericsson a used to produce better videos than it.. you would have thought given the spec and quality of the phone it could do better! I was dissapointed.. as well as the photos, any slight movement and the photo is blurred!
yeh, HTC usually seem to cut back on the quality of the camera lense/hardware.
always been on the ****e side
How would you rate the Diamond's speech/audio quality of phone conversations?
So far two votes for perfect quality, thanks.
Does anybody maybe know of a sample MP3 or WAV file "showing" the speech quality of the Diamond? Otherwise if someone could upload one it would be much appreciated of course.
its good, no probs, someones says its not loud enough and there is tweak to make it louder.
Speaker is not that good tho, if you compare to nokia n-series phone speakers.
Hello guys!
I want to buy this phone but the sound recording quality is importante for me. I´ll record meetings and, sometimes, from about 3 or 4 meters...
Can anyone say if the sound recording quality is good? My question is becuase it is waterproof... maybe it will make the recording quality below average?
Thanks!

It really depends.
I've seen some people say that it was bad (according to their opinion)
But I've also seen that said there was nothing wrong with it.
The Z3C has 3 recording settings (in terms of sound)
Silent, normal, concert (something like that) so I guess you'll have to play around with those to see which fits the occasion best.
Here are 2 random videos I found, And in my opinion the sound isn't bad. Based on my own experience it's not bad either, but I'm not you, you need to judge it by yourself.
I'd say go to a store if possible and just record some stuff. (Please note that the Z3C doesn't come with a build in sound recorder app so you'll need to get one from Play)

My experience so far is based on two scenarios.. Concert and alarm test messages. Both are absolutely great in quality! Using sonys audio recorder to even record stereo audio.
Sent with my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact with Tapatalk Pro
I have not done extensive testing regarding sound, yet, but from what I have done I am impressed with the default sound. It has a wide sound stage, but very clear. However, I have recently purchased Sony's STM10U Stereo Microphone which works on the Z3 devices. There is also Sony's audio recorder app that works with this mic to download.
It really adds a studio type control, blocking out all external sounds, providing a more focused sound. Great for concerts. Comes with a wind cover which is handy for blustery days. This way, I have all my sound options covered.

If you record regularly I'd suggest investing in a decent mini microphone that plugs into the headphone jack. I find the built in mic no better or worse than other phones I've had, but have not done any detailed comparison.
I have found the sound quality absolutely perfect with the Z3C!!!
I play in a band and have always been jealous of how well my friends iPhones have been able to record our band practices. My z3 compact is loads, loads better than my galaxy nexus or HTC hd2 but still not as even good as the iPhone 4 I'm afraid when it comes to recording at very loud volumes.
I'm also using the Sony audio recorder. It works well but the files are massive and can only be saved on internal memory.
I can't seem to be able to choose between the Nokia 930 & 1020.
Music is important to me, as is web browsing, YouTube etc but I also want it to have a good camera.
I currently own the Samsung Note 3 so it has to be an upgrade (camera wise) to what I already have. There isn't much point if I am not going to notice the difference. All my photo's go onto my 27" mac screen, 48" TV screen and my PC so quality and clarity in photo's is a must.
Can you in the know help please? I haven't had a Windows phone before.
Grateful thanks Simon
Both are good

Well, if you own a Note 3, then I would suggest a Lumia 1520 because of the large screen, and also because the camera features are the same of 930 and closely to what you would get with 1020. Of course that 1020 has some few greater features about its camera, the resolution is the first and most important of them. But I think that 20Mpx offered by 930 or 1520 is enough for ordinary use. The greatest thing about Lumia cameras is the possibility to adjust the shutter, which would give you excelent image results during night or low light. Yeah, a little bit boring and difficult to keep the camera static in hands when you are in a hurry, but 1 second or 2.5 seconds is enough to do the job and it's not that much time. Anyway, if you don't want to work with the shutter, you have other options like ISO or Brightness, which helps a lot too.
I have a 1520, and I'm incredibly satisfied with it. It is the last high end Windows Phone under Nokia trademark, and will be the best for a long time. Even knowing that right now there are phones with better hardwares (like G3, Z3, Note 4 or S6), the 1520 (like 930 or 1020) has more than enough for its Windows OS, which is light, fluid and stable. Above all, it is a very smart system that disables what you are not using and keeps only the necessary alive, so the battery life is very satisfying and the memory keeps most of it free for the apps you are actually using at the moment.
I love Android, but Windows were a big surprise for me and I had no problems migrating from one to another. But the biggest problem is the app store. It is still very bad. No way to compare the quality of Instagram or Facebook apps between Android and Windows. Windows versions seems like preview or test versions, and a lot of apps that are famous between Android or iOS users you will not find at Windows Store. For playing games, it is great... and the experience can be better if you have an XBox like for those ones who have Z3 and Playstation.
I'm not an app eater anymore, so... apps don't make a huge difference for me. If you feel the same, then a Windows Phone is an excelent choice. If I had to choose between 930 and 1020, then 1020 would be. I don't like the design of the 930, its aluminum construction makes it thicker and heavier than others. But I recomend 1520, also because after Lumia Camera update, it can now make 4k movies at 30fps.
thanks so much for the detailed reply. Greatly appreciated x
if web browsing is important to you, the 930 has a better cpu so you'll get faster web rendering
There is also audio quality, which is FANTASTIC , i truly didn't believed my ears when i watched some video from a concert, the audio was absolutely stunning, from highs to lows all was there, no more filtering and all that what others do, believe me, you'll be shocked when you'll hear it.
Here the main differences are that 1020 records audio in mono( but the quality is also great), but if you want a really good experience i'd take the 930 or 1520 as they record in stereo with directional microphones.
Also you'll get the latest features, such as fast camera start and fast 4k video capture if you buy the 930/1520, due to much improved hardware.
So to say if to compare 1020 with 930/1520, then the win of 1020 is only at raw camera photo capabilities, as video, photo to photo time, and all other features are better on the other 2 phones, oh...there is also possible to shoot in RAW so that's also some unique feature not available elsewhere.
Also due to better specs the OS is much quicker and load times of heavy apps/games are a lot better.

Yes. Truly fantastic. It's amazing how great is its audio recording. Even when you send voice messages thru Whatsapp the quality difference is noticed when compared to other voice messages sent by friends who have different phones. It records whispers whitout being necessary to short the distance between the phone and your mouth. Its recording device is impressive.
The bad thing is that you can't say the same thing about it's speakers. 1520 has a mono speaker which users can easily cover it with their hand or fingers and if they do that the sound almost disappear. It's powerful anyway when nothing blocks it, but could be better if Windows provided a better sound application with more detailed features than just an equalizer. That is something I miss with Android and its Viper4Android, which is awesome.
Hi users!
I'm wondering to buy this phone, but I need overall experience to take more confident about it!
Will you prefer buying this phone? What are pros&cons of it? Do you think there is something better in such a price?
Share you impressions!
Depends on what you are looking for. It's a decent device but Cyanogen treats it like the ugly duckling in the family of their supported devices.
If proper device support is something you are looking for you might be better throwing some money at the OnePlus One, the Z1's older brother.
If you are fine with receiving updates late though then this device is still a decent choice, especially if you value battery life.

With XDA modders support its no problem, I can always flash CM or modified kernel...
Im really looking forward to hear fine sound (earphones) and take at least medium quality photos, am I right?
The sound quality is on par with the OnePlus One, camera quality is okay but nowhere close to what the OnePlus One provided.

30fps at video recording is enough for me, also ZUK have optical stabilization which really enhances image.
Photos looks almost the same: http://www.gsmarena.com/piccmp.php3?idType=3&idPhone1=6327&idPhone2=7511&idPhone3=6294
ZUK have fingerprint scanner, is it working fast?
Referring to sound I mean is there some scratches or noise in earphones?
The sound is great, nothing to worry about there.

The finger print scanner works pretty fast the only times when it doesn't is when I have wet or greasy fingers. Sound quality with earphones is good if you use a equalizer
