Samsung please make in the next Galaxy S and Galaxy Note smartphone:
OIS
Aspherical lens in the lens (i dont know whether they are now in S5)
Remove modulation at medium and low brightness, as it did in the Fly IQ444 Diamond 2 Quattro, Motorola Razr HD (XT925) and LG G Flex
Remove all profiles except the cinema mode, because at testers gray is blue, red is orange, they specially put other profiles that have very cold tone (6500-6700K - cinema mode, 7500-8000K - others). Anyway all image are designed for SRGB standard, and enhanced range is color distortion and oversaturation
Metal Body (antennas should be behind the plastic, glass or other material, but not metal, so did HTC, Apple and Sony, otherwise the connection will be very bad)
Thanks
It would be ideal. Isocell, improved super amoled (brightness, viewing angles, color reproduction in cinema mode (106% instead of 122%, 100%-ideal), anti-glare), waterproof, interface speed and battery life is awesome.
What's wrong with a plastic body?
It can look just as premium as metal
It provides an actual grip.
It doesn't scratch as easy as metal.
It flexes so it won't dent and stuff.
It's lighter than metal.
There is a lower chance of breaking your internals when you drop it because plastic takes impacts better than metal. Similar to why car bumpers are made from plastic and not metal.

Speed if dropped not so much
Metal looks solid and there is a feeling that you hold the thing for ages
The difference in weight is small
I recently gave away my Nexus 5X because I didn't want to encounter the bootloop death for myself. I was pretty impressed with N5X especially in the software and camera department. I didn't have much problems with the performance on the N5X.
So coming from the N5X, is the OP3T worth the 480 or so USD? Does it have ANY fatal flaw (like the bootloop death issue that the LG devices face)? How's the camera compared to the N5X/6P? Also, could anyone who's been using this device for a few months now tell me how it's held up in time? Has anything (like the battery life, performance, camera etc) deteriorated significantly in this time? Is a case and tempered glass protecter the best way to go about owning this device?
Okay I think I'm quite well suited for this
I bought the 3t today from a Nexus 6p
Main things I miss the camera, no offence 3t owners the camera is nowhere near the quality of the 6p too much noise for a start.
But.....
The speed and fluidity and devs and battery life make up for it.
Hopefully the camera may be improved
This is my opinion after 12 hours though
I've had this phone for 3 months. The camera is decent, gets the job done, but if you are buying a phone for a camera ur shopping all wrong. If you use a smartphone camera a lot, you can get a camera that is 10x better for about 100 USD. This phone has no fatal flaws, it is essentially a blank slate for you to do whatever you want to. Ive flashed a lot of roms on here for weeks now and i have to say it has no real issue doing anything. Everything is fast, battery life usually ends at around 7 hours SoT. The real shame though is the camera itself on the hardware side is actually a very strong camera, the software doesnt let it perform well. The snapdragon 821 processor is incredible as well. I've never had an app crash even using 3rd party roms. Everything boots very quickly including the phone itself. This phone is the best you can get i believe, nevermind the price that just makes the phone even more worth it. Especially if u dont want to pay it off immediately, you may purchase it on paypal credit and not pay a single dime for 6 months for the phone. Not to mention, its warranty is very nice. If you need something repaired theyll do it within 10 days.
The Spigen rugged armor case seems to be the most popular, and I like it.
With the tempered glass the issue is with the curved screen glass of the op3. Either you get the official curved tgsp that cuts a little of the screen off with it's borders. Or ones that are smaller then the screen so they don't cover the curved part. In the middle of those 2 is the Orzly that only has glue on the top and bottom borders, which causes a potential oil slick like anomaly on screen.
The tgsp's that cover the entire screen have some issue with certain cases too.
That aside, the phone is great. Fast, well built, well designed and great dev support. And it cost $200-300 less than current flashships. The midnight black looks badass too.

So no tempered glass then (What about Nillkin, it doesn't have borders)?
Spigen looks too bulky tbh.

The best full coverage TG is the official OnePlus curved, but you need to find a case that works with it. Check the thread about it. Nillkin doesn't stick on the sides, its not curved. Check Amazon reviews and YouTube. Most of the borderless TG are even smaller, to not contact the curved edges. It seems most of the bordered ones don't have glue on the actual screen, except the Official curved one. So it's really the only good choice.
The Spigen rugged armor is not bulky, it's the size of a normal TPU case, with a matte finish and nice texture. I don't think it plays well with the official Curved TG though, but I don't have the combo, many in the thread can comment. I also have a diztronic (similar but more basic) it fits a tad looser though, and a kapaver. All of them are of similar size and texture.
Edit: the only other option for a screen protector besides the Official curved for full coverage is a wet install flexible protector like an IQ shield or even older school cling-on.
I've had the phone ever since the beginning of March. Within my first month of using the device extensively, I can tell you there are absolutely no issues with speed and performance of the device after a few updates and app installs. I have went from 6.0.1 to 7.0 to 7.1.1, and the device feels as fast as the first day I got it. The camera is decent, but it struggles in low light performance from what I can see (I use the camera mostly for Snapchat). Battery has held up nicely as well. I use the Spigen Rugged Armor case and the slim case that I got from ordering another 3T (Midnight Black). I can say the phone is worth every penny I spent on it. My biggest concern is updates from OnePlus after the 5 comes out.

So you got a gun metal 3t and a midnight black 3t. Your living the dream brother.
I came to the 3T from the 6P after i had both battery and bootloop issues(fixed under warranty) and the only things i miss are front facing speakers and the camera on the 6P is way better. Besides that this phones a beast for the price and the dev community is booming. Im happy with my choice. Also dash charging is insane quick.
This question is to people who have access to the phone.
What is the real width of the screen (visible and usable) - measured with a ruler. I know it's hard because the screen is curved. I would like to know if the screen is at least the same as in Note 3 - 71mm
It's a slim design like S8+. The two phones are almost identical.
still not sure how this compares to the Note FE/7
I have the Note 7 and S8+ - I will measure both and get back to this thread once I do. The Note 8 will be slightly wider than my S8+. BTW, if Samsung does indeed offer $425 for my Note 7 if I turn it in to get the Note 8, I will be doing that.
I used the CAD models, and the REAL i.e. FLAT difference between the Note 4 and Note 8 is here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/bigger-screen-usable-t3660825
6.5 mm which is over 1/4" - that doesn't seen like alot but it really is!
The SPEC of the screen size is with the infinity display is MINUS 6.53 on BOTH SIDES in reduction
I just measured the Note 7 and S8+. The S8+ is a mm wider than the Note 7 and about 5/8 taller than the Note 7. So what you get on the S8+ is a tad wider and significantly taller USABLE area of the display. The phones themselves are almost exactly the same width although the Note 7 is slightly wider, so Samsung decreased the size bezel slightly on the S8+ while actually getting an extra mm of display on the S8+ too boot. Small but definite improvements. The S8+ body is about a 1/4" taller than the Note 7, but far smaller top and bottom bezels so you get 5/8" more actual display. The Note 8 is about an 1/8" taller than the S8+ I believe and also just a tad wider. So as far as more display, the Note 8 has more than the Note 7 since the S8+ has more display than the note 7 already.
EDIT - I will add that the Note 7 still has slightly less curve on the edges of the display than the S8+ - and if the accounts are accurate the Note 8 will have even less curve than the Note 7, so expect the curves to be improved/lessened on the Note 8 over the Note 7 also. I think this is worth mentioning. I am not a fan of the edge displays - they are very fragile and I turn off the edge features as I don't need or use them. Would rather have a flat display that can use real tempered glass screen protectors that actually work. Hopefully the Note 8 can utilize tempered screen protectors better with the smaller curves. We will see.

Is that usable screen though? I had the S8+ and hated the ratio (too tall) and narrow width. Why does the note 7/FE feel bigger in use? Certainly don't make as many errors typing on my FE than the S8+! I couldn't wait to get rid of the s8+ for the FE. Maybe it just feels a better dimension.

Yes, that's usable screen. When measuring I took off the steep sides of the curved edges of the Note 7 and S8+ to compare - in other words, I measured from where the curved edge stopped and the screen became flat. The S8+ has more curve on the edges, slightly, than the Note 7 so that means the Note 7 has slightly (we are talking about less than a MM) less "curved edge" distortion. From the pictures I have seen, the Note 8 will have even slightly less edge curves than the Note 7, and for sure less than the S8+. This means that the edges do not project in towards the middle of the screen quite as far (barely any on the Note 7), therefore there is more flat, usable display.
Bottom line, the Note 8 will have more display than the Note 7. It is significantly taller and a tad wider of actual usable display. Also, I turn off all the edge features AND use a phone case that comes up over the curved edges on the sides, so the edges are not an issue for me on either the Note 7, S7E or S8+. I would still prefer a flat screen and not edge screen simply for the fact that one can get a tempered glass screen protector that actually works and adheres to a flat screen. The edge screens are all but impossible to get a tempered protector that is even worth using, and the edges make the display MUCH more likely to break if the phone is dropped and hit on the edge somewhere.
As I mentioned, I would still prefer a 16:9 ratio but with the small bezels that the S8 and Note 8 have. Also would prefer no edge curves. But that is not the way the industry is going - 18:9 will soon be the standard, if it isn't already. I wish at least Samsung was going with 18:9 and not 18.5:9, but you can't get everything you want, lol.
Can not anyone still measure the ruler?

I was just watching Erica Griffin's unboxing video on YouTube. I noticed the note 9 has borders around the sides of the display.
Can anyone compare the two notes or confirm this please?
Looks to me that they probably put those borders there for those that used to ***** about light bleed and reflection.

Note 9 has slightly wider side borders/bezels. The bottom (chin) bezel is shorter, about half as tall as the Note 8. The top (forehead) bezel is the same size as the Note 8. Overall, the Note 9 has slightly MORE bezel % than the Note 8, but very slightly (not enough to notice). But that is because they went with a tad bit wider side bezels. Which personally I am OK with. I think the sides with the curves could have used a little more protection on the N8. Plus my N8 is a tad too narrow and tall - feels a tad off in my hand. The Note 7 hit the absolute sweet spot for feel in hand. The Note 9 feels a bit better in hand (I have had a store demo model I have played with) than the Note 8. It is just a little wider, a little shorter and feels a little better balanced. I do wish they had cut the top bezel down in size, but oh well.

Oh right thanks, so it wasn't my imagination seeing bezels on the side of the Note 9 screen.
Would you say the Note 9 has a wider more usable screen area?

From my hour or so comparing them, yes, the N9 has slightly more width to utilize. Again, it's not a huge difference, but side by side it is definitely apparent.
If I had my wishes, they would do away with the curved edges completely. I think the curved edges create more issues than they have positives. I turn off all edge functions. IMO, Samsung has clung to the curved edge design because it is its trademark design/differentiator from other phones. But as far as usefulness, I think it needs to go away. The curved edges are by far the most liable to be broken in a fall, and it is extremely hard to get a good tempered protector to fit on the curves and stay on. The Note 9 seemed to have slightly less curves to the edges, which is a trend I see Samsung going with, eventually doing away with the curved edges. In any case, this display has a little more usable width to use the SPen width at least.

Confirm Note9 has thicker bezel at curved edgea. This will be good the cases + screen protector
I would love to see the curved glass edges done away with on the Note series. It does interfere with the spen while writing close to the edge and makes good TGSP's hard to find. I still would use the edge soft software though, got used to it on the S7E after they took both my note 7's back.

Yeah, they definitely did. Many reviewers mentioned it.
probably for better, struggle with stylus sometimes if i get too close to curved edge it just slides off
like others said should be easier to apply screen protector ttoo
I was wondering whether the display would suffer from micro scratches without a tempered glass.
I'm by no means going to keep my keys and phone in the same pocket but you know...
Use creen protector to be safer. Gorilla glass 5 is not the hardest gorilla glass ?
But i think theres no 3d tempered glass thats fits?
Self healing foil should be good for you!
really? i thought with the exception of gorilla glass 6, it would've been the best there was.
what's self healing foil?
Its a softer foil where Scratches heal itself

5 is scratch resistant as 6.
4 was not so scratch resistant
But i think u will become scratches, mostly micro scratches
When u like to rebuy the phone use screen protector. But when u like to use your phone until u buy new one its your choice if you can live with scratches after 1 year of using it
There are always harder materials that causes scratches
Protector for curved screen is joke. Have no chance to fit good. I had Galaxy S6 edge, Note edge, s7, s8, Note 8... After a few days and it becomes ugly. Now Im using Sirocco from half year without protector and screen is OK.
thanks, I'll have a think but will likely apply something on it as I can by OCD.
By the way what do you think of the sirocco?
would you recommend it if you were to purchase it today? I would expect it to last for 2-3years ( I'm still using a motox 4 years old) and the moment is a close call btw this and the p20.
I'm into a decent camera, don't game and like small form mobiles.
p20 or sirocco?

I would expect the Nokia to last longer, but I am a phone looser
"I love the display and the camera performance... but I just dropped it onto concrete and it bounced and did not crack. The steel and glass held it's ground. That has sealed the deal for me and vindicated me going back to Nokia, the phone you can rely upon in a zombie apocalypse. Now I think I'll go and sheepishly put on the case that came in the box." -
I searched high and low, but only one screen crack is reported, pressing the power-button, some dirt probably was in between the screen and the button.
Cam is not very good, no OIS, you will need two steady hands and a soft, long pressure not to shake the pics.
