Hey guys I'm having dialer/telephony issues with latest 5.1.1 roms (aicp and temasek) I can't hear the person/voice in incoming and outgoing calls. Question I just rooted my N6 I did full wipe ,flash ROM, 5.1.1 gapps, supersu 2.49 and reboot. Can someone tell me is there anything else I need to fix the issues I'm having btw I got my device from T-Mobile.
P.S. calls worked successfully on stock 5.1.1 rom
It's either the rom, radio or carrier. On stock I had the problem. Had to change radio and on 5.1.0 had to turn off Volte. I'm on Verizon. Seemed to work fine on 5.1.1.
Got my new Note 5 last week and rooted it, the guide I followed worked but someone in the comments said their phone was restarting occasionally especially during phone calls (saw this late)
So, everything went fine and now some time the phone will just restart on its own for no reason, it was literally sitting on my desk and decided to restart, it has happened a lot of times and also when I plug my headphones in to listen to music and i put it in my pocket it just gets stuck and i hear a constant sound and then it just cuts off and phone lags for a good minute and everything goes back to normal except the music sound, even after its turned up and music is playing i dont hear anything, i have to restart my phone for it to work again.
This is on a Canadian Bell Note 5 (N920W8)
So my question: Is there anyway to prevent this music/restarting problem while still maintaining root status?
Thanks.
Not sure what kernel you are using, but random reboots is a known issue with several of the rooted kernels out currently. The developers of those kernels are working to find the solution.
Meanwhile, arter97 has a kernel that seems to not have that issue. Not sure if it works for your device specifically, but if you check the development thread you can read up on it and see.
I have also had good luck with the jovy23 kernel in the t-mobile note 5 forum, but again I'm not sure of compatibility with your device.

Yeah looks like arter97's kernel is compatible with my model, can I overwrite it over my current one using the instructions on his thread? I use the Noble Kernel atm.
What im stuck on is custom recovery. I dont see online anywhere where I can get ClockworkMod or PhilZ recovery for Note 5. Do you know where I can get one of them?
@hawksking
Random reboots is a known issue with the noble kernel. The developer is working hard on solving the issue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62608884
There are links to Twrp and Philz recovery in the thread linked above. Twrp also works fine to flash that kernel, I have used it to do so.
Yes you can flash the kernel over your existing one. You don't need to wipe anything to flash a kernel.
The Philz recovery is usually in the same folder as the arter97 kernel at arter97 download location. I have used many of artery kernels on my note 5, currently using his beta 5.0 kernel, it is running very smooth.
I believe others have had success using the app called flashify for flashing kernels, but I have not used it before. It is available in Google play store.
There is an app in beta testing called flashfire that I use for flashing kernels, but you have to sign up to get the beta test app.
Hi
I have installed many of the Android 7.0 ROMS for Shamu and all of them have this annoying problem:
When I dial out I cannot hear the ring or the other person.
When I receive a call I don't often hear the other person but they may hear me.
Yes I've installed the N6 boot loader and radio and do not load any other mods, custom kernels.
I just can't figure this out. Any ideas? Is there a Android 7.0 firmware that I need to install to prepare my Shamu for Android 7?
Thanks

I had this same problem, I had to re flash stock 7.0 and the problem was gone. No idea what caused it

Did flashing stock 7.0 re-lock bootloader? Were you able to unlock the phone?

Flashing stock does not relock the bootloader.
Didn't work
Ok I flashed stock 7.0 using Wugfresh's tool.
But still when I use the phone I can't hear who is on the other end.
Really odd!
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Aussie
I'm having the same issue on a stock Nougat phone as well. The problem appeared a few days ago out of the blue. The only band aid fix I've found is the sound about app and force assigned the mic and earpiece functions.
Sadly, this doesn't address the main issue in the first place.
none
Why are you using Wugfresh? Plug the phone in the computer and when it communicates with the phone tap the menu bar that says it's charging, when you open that tick allow files/folders, the second option. Then put your files on the root of internal storage, wipe the entire system then flash your rom, you don't need Wugfresh.
If you lose your data who cares, just set the phone up again and you should be good to go, this is much more dependable as I use to use Wugfresh, you do know how to get into recovery and install that way? You will want to do a full wipe, then flash

I didn't realize there was a thread on this already.
I'm using Pure Nexus and the other end would go silent for about 5 seconds and then come back...so that's a bit different than what you guys are experiencing.

have you tried reflashing your radio? Maybe try flashing a MM radio as well
Just wanted to chime in, I think this is actually more of a VoLTE/HD issue. It happens to my N6 that's still on MM. Sometimes the dialtone/ring is there, other times it's not. Would love to know of there's a fix!
Found a fix..
Hello all.
I found a fix to Shamu+Nougat ROM problem when I am called I do not hear the other person and vice versa.
To install Factory Nougat from Google: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
FIRST backup your phone (contacts, files, pics, movies etc) as this will totally erase EVERYTHING!
When you are on the Factory Images for Nexus Devices page click "backed up to your Google Account" then go click 'back' on your browser and click on 'Acknowledge' to see the list of Factory Nougat ROMS for Shamu come up on the right.
Download the Android 7.0 Factory ROM for Shamu/Nexus 6.
Do not flash this stock ROM using Wugfresh's tool. Instead follow precisely the 'Flashing Instructions' on the page https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images. Allow the phone to reboot and fully set up. Restart the phone again.
Then use Wugfresh to Root the phone and also to install custom recovery (I already have unlocked bootloader).
Now, nothing against Wugfresh Tool (I do not know why the flashing method above works better) as Wugfresh has saved my phone many times.. Its just that Googles recommended flashing instructions worked best.
Now I use the phone and not only do I hear the caller and they hear me I have much better reception (Australia). Yes I did previously flash latest radio but the above method seemed to improve my Shamu 100%.
What I have not done yet is flash a custom ROM in case the problem re-appears. But my phone is rooted and unlocked so I can install other mods that work with Nougat.
Hope this works for you.
Cheers
Aussie
Another Fix Part 2
Hi
I stumbled on another method that has seemed to work:
Ensure you have unlocked bootloader.
Flash Tupacs Android 6.0 MOB31H ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/rom-rooted-deoxeded-fast-stable-t3252922
(*Note I used his MOB31E Android 6.0 ROM so I am presuming current MOB31H will work).
Credit to this ROM goes to tupac4u as I am not a Developer.
I then flashed SuperUser but did not flash a custom kernel.
Setup the ROM as usual.
Selected Settings - About Phone - System updates and let the phone install the Android 7 OTA update. Be aware its a 878Mb download.
Let the update download and fully install. I had TWRP recovery and the update still installed fine.
After installation fully completed I enabled Developer Options and USB Debugging.
Then using WugFresh's excellent tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/toolkit-wugs-nexus-root-toolkit-v1-9-8-t2947452 I applied Root and Custom Recovery.
I also flashed Radio 5.39R which I found works best.
Now my phone works very well and (for now) now I can hear the caller and they can hear me.
Cheers

Has there been a listed fix for people who haven't rooted their nexus?
HELLO FOLKS I WAS USING SNAPDRAGON NOTE 4 FROM 2 YEARS BUT FINALLY I GET MY HANDS ON A EXYNOS KOREAN NOTE 4 SO WHEN I GOT THIS PHONE IT WAS FULL OF KOREAN APPS/DIALER/KEYBOARD/CANNOT SWITCH BETWEEN 2G/3G/4G NOT ENOUGH LANGUAGES ETC ETC.
SO I DID SOME RESEARCH FINALLY I CAME UP WITH THIS SOLUTION AND IT IS FAIL PROOF METHOD NOW WE CAN FLASH AND ENJOY ANY SM-N910C "6.0.1 MARSHMALLOW ROM" ON ANY KOREAN MODEL OF NOTE 4 N910S/L/K N916K/L/S.
WARNING
BEFORE YOU BEGIN THIS METHOD INCLUDE ROOT AND THIS WILL TRIGGER KNOX 0×1 AND DEFINITELY
VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
INSTRUCTIONS.
DOWNLOAD THE N910C ROM/ KERNEL/ THE VOICE FIX FILE/SUPERSU.ZIP THAT YOU WANT TO FLASH.
IF YOU ARE ALREADY ON MARSHMALLOW AND HAVE TWRP RECOVERY INSTALLED THEN SKIP STEP 1 & 2 .
STEP 1
FLASH LATEST OFFICIAL STOCK MARSHMALLOW FIRMWARE VIA ODIN FOR YOUR MODEL TO GET LATEST BOOTLOADER/RADIO/MODEM.
STEP 2
FLASH TWRP RECOVERY VIA ODIN.

TWRP RECOVERY FOR N916S/L/K
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369242689195
STEP 3 (VERY IMPORTANT)
BOOT INTO TWRP GO TO BACKUP IN AND BACKUP YOUR CURRENT ROM INCLUDING (MODEM/EFS) IF YOU MISS THIS STEP YOU MAY END UP "UNKNOWN BASEBAND" "NULL IMEI" AND YOU WILL LOSE NETWORK SO MAKE SURE MAKE A BACKUP FROM TWRP "EFS AND MODEM":
STEP 4
IN TWRP GO TO WIPE/ADVANCE WIPE AND SELECT ( DALVIC CACHE/SYSTEM/DATA/CACHE) AND SWIPE TO WIPE.
STEP 5
FLASH ANY MARSHMALLOW CUSTOM ROM IS FOR N910C FROM TWRP .I RECOMMEND HANIBASE STOCK ROM 1.01 THIS ROM WILL CONVERT YOUR KOREAN NOTE 4 TO FULLY N910C INTERNATIONAL MODEL AND THIS ROM DOESN'T HAVE ANY BUGS AT ALL EVERYTHING WORKING WITH GREAT BATTERY LIFE.
HANIBASE STOCK DEODEXED ROM LINK

STEP 10
REBOOT AND WAIT UNTIL SETUP SCREEN SHOWS AND ENJOY ANY N910C ROM ON ANY KOREAN MODEL NOTE 4.
STEP 11
FIX FOR OVER HEATING AND BATTERY DRAINING AFTER INSTALLING N910C ROM ON N910SKL/916SKL.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73870981&postcount=14
WORKS WITH ALMOST ANY MARSHMALLOW ROM I TRIED THIS METHOD WITH THIS EXYNOS N910C ROMS BELOW.
DARKLORD NOTE5 PORT ROM.
DITTO NOTE7 ROM.
NEMISIS REFINED ROM.
HANIBASE STOCK DEODEXED ROM.
AURORA NOTE7 PORT ROM.
EROBOT V30/31/32/33
AND MANY MORE CANT REMEMBER THEY ALL WORKED WITH ME INCLUDING VOICE CALLS/DATA/SMS/MMS/MIC
BUGS
N916S/K/L NFC IS Not WORKING WITH ANY N910C ROMS.
The NFC Toggle will show as greyed out you can't turn it on or off so to fix it you have to disable NFC permanently.
Open root explorer go to system/app and search for NFC folder there you will see "Nfc.Apk" rename it to "Nfc.bak" save and exit then reboot device.
Now you can turn on and off nfc but it will not work.
DO NOT DELETE NFC APK FROM SYSTEM FOLDER OTHERWISE SETTINGS MAY CRASH.
DISCLAIMER / I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OF YOUR DEVICE I JUST MADE THIS GUIDE TO HELP FOLKS WITH KOREAN MODEL OF NOTE 4 DON'T BLAME ME IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG IF YOU FOLLOW THE STEPS CORRECTLY THERE SHOULD BE NO ISSUE.ANY QUESTIONS I AM HAPPY TO ANSWER.

Well all the exynos note 4 roms will work on n910c in fact most of the roms first made for n910c then some fix been made ro run on other models such as N910U/S/K/L/916S/K/L.
If you are asking to run snapdragon roms from N910F/T/G on exynos N910C then i am afraid the answer is impossible.

There is a fix for that heating issue i figured out.
You will need root explorer then go to system/bin and here you will find a file name "debug_interface_proxy" just delete it and reboot device .
because this file belong only in N910C model and this is causing device over heating.
No more heating No more battery drain Problem solved.

Battery life is great, not having the same issues I had with the beta/international firmware except I am still having issues with calls coming through the stereo speaker and not the phone ear speaker.
Also, I can't get TWRP to boot so I can't install TWRP and root with Magisk. I've tried the TWRP from the forum and the latest from the TWRP website.

Saw this on the OnePlus forum. For those with the issue where the callers voice comes out the microphone instead of the earpiece, here is something to try: "Stop HearingAidService under Bluetooth running services in Developer options under system. I had the same issue. Hearing aid services are being turned on without Bluetooth being on." Someone on the forum tried it with success. I have gone back to 10 so I cannot test it.
