Android One faulty mobiles & your experience with Warranty Claim ? - Android One (First-Generation) Cross-Device Genera

I bought QMobile A1 Android One for Pakistan on 8 Sep 2015 Tue 3 weeks ago from now.
Although mobile is really great and responsive. But had 2 major issues:
1. Call Quality DROPS drastically, its like ever 3 seconds volume decreasing to Zero and these RANDOM JUMPS & disrupts the call quality so much i did not understood 60% thing said to me or the other person on Phone Calls.
2. Video Recording was mostly Choppy and Out of Sync, on Stock Camera app and on all other Video Recording Apps such as Camera MX, DubSmash etc etc.
STORY 1:
So yesterday, on 3 Oct 2015 Sat i gave my A1 mobile to QMobile Service Center for Warranty Claim.
And The QMobile Service center person wrote "No Service/Signal Problem and Video Player Problem" on my Warranty Receipt.
I said "this VIDEO RECORDING issue related to CAMERA SENSOR, VIDEO PLAYER is video playback. VIDEO RECORDING & VIDEO PLAYER both are entirely different things."
He Said "both are same thing you always Record Video then playback it on a Video Player."
I said "Ok" and i left because he was unwilling to re-write the mistake from VIDEO PLAYER PROBLEM to VIDEO RECORDING PROBLEM.
I will get back my mobile after 10 days from QMobile Service Center on 13 Oct 2015 Tue.
STORY 2:
I thought QMobile A1 Android One is manufactured by Google so quality control might be way better than QMobile other phones, QMobile Andoid One only sold it with their own Name & Label on it with No marketing At All because Android One is a major threat to itself because of constant update and patches from Google.
BUT I WAS WRONG, I bought another brand new QMobile A1 Android One yesterday on 3 Oct 2015 Sat the same day i submitted my QMobile A1 for warranty claim.
I Bought this brand new QMobile A1 for my brother and it suffers same Call Quality Drop issues and SOMETIMES Choppy VIDEO RECORDING Issue.
Now what should i do? reclaim warranty after 1 day of use? it seems like QMobile bought all defective phones from India's Android One updated 4gb ROM to 8gb and put on Karbonn Sparkle V back cover, now started selling it in Pakistan.
i wasted PKR 23,000 (USD $230) on this crap.
Do you guys having this problem also in India and Other countries?
What is your Experience with Android One Warranty Claim ??

Ans1 I have bought 3 for family n me n they all are wstockg fine perfectly on stock rom but I did experience call drops and laggy video on custom roms but it's because the device tree is not updated n call drops happens when you don't fully wipe while installing new rom that consits full wipping ( data , cache and system too) and it resolved the call drops for laggy video solution see thread below

Ans2 if there is just software issue just try googling xda and solve by yourself believe me the problem gets resolved way before than QMobile service centers they literally are worse it took them literally 1 month to just flash stock rom on my v5 that after doing some research I can do within minutes ...

i have been using QMobile A1 for almost a month and yes call quality drops like someone has taken his microphone away and within a second or two the normal call quality is restored but the problem is not that much to dosturb all my calls. I receive almost 10 to 15 call everyday and the problem occurs you may say once a week in some random call and precisely speaking it is your posts that turned my attention toward this issue.
i have never used A1 for video recording so i wont comment anything but
one more thing that i have noted is that very frequently it looses 3g signals and goes back to 2g even in areas of very good 3g coverage. Does it happen to anyone else?

Videocall, fullscreen?

Hello
Is it possible to see the person you are having a video-conversation with in fullscreen?
With that sharp high resolution VGA screen of ours, do you really need full screen? You can clearly see the detail of both video windows the way it is.
Well, yeah, but would still be nice if it is possible...
Psh, wish I had that problem. Here, stateside, AT&T has the only video calling feature available, "Video share". $4.99 for 4 minutes or $9.99 for 16 minutes per month, and it only streams one way, they can't see you if you're giving them a video stream. Stupid. And yet they'll probably remove the front facing camera on the Touch Pro, because who wants to talk to each other face to face anyways?

and you got to the moon...hmmm i begin to believe the "moon on a tv studio" theory
we do gave here full 3g and 3.5 now (don't know and don't care what's that).
video calls are taken as granted here but not many ppl are using it.
lot of pranks but that's another story..
I probably wouldn't use it that much, maybe to talk to my girlfriend who's stuck in Texas for a few weeks but that's about it... I just don't understand why it's not available. I mean, not to say you're not ahead of us, but it's not like Europe blows us away in technological ability... We have 3G pretty much nation wide here, and the phones we have certainly have the capability for a front mounted camera... But they get removed (ie Tilt).

I hear what your saying - Same problem in the UK, its available but not used all that much. I remember those 3g news articles many years ago touting one of the main features of 3g being video calling!
Considering you can video conference over 64k isdn im not sure why it couldn't have been done with Edge!
Full screen would be nice tho!
it's really useful for internet which is not soo painfully slow as gprs
I think the problem is a lack of applications to drive the use of Video calling. Here in Dubai, we have 3G and 3.5G everywhere (KuKuriKu: 3.5 gives you data speeds of up to 7.2 mbps on your mobile if configured properly on the network). The service is available everywhere and most phones on the market come with two cameras and the service itself is very inexpensive yet usage is still quite low. I'm a heavy user and I find that the only time I use the front camera is for MMS- only used video call in the beginning when it was a novelty (apart from the occasional need to tease someone when you're at the pub and they're stuck at the office when only live video will suffice )
Sooo, no one has a suggestion how its done? full screen videocall? :s
well, I'm interested too, in Kaiser videocall settings you are able to set fullscreen videocall, but in our Diamond there are only two options: both pictures (large or small). I was looking for a registry key or something else... anyone?? Thanks.

[Q] Camera Issue's ?

I'm planning to get a Sony Z3 C.
But after seen some 1080p and Picture samples on the web and Youtube i'm very worried about quality.
The Z3C have more redness when recording video and pictures...why's that ?
Is it a software fault or is the just the phone ?
The samples from iPhone 6 is much better than Z3C. I cant believe that Sony have placed a better camera in iPhone 6 and keeping a bad camera for their own. As i know Sony deliver cameras for Apple.
Also the Audio is really bad when recording videos. Its very thin. As i know theres 2 microphones for recording audio....so why bad audio then ?
Also some people Complains about broken front & back. Thats also seem to bad for Sony. The phones have never dropped. My friend have a Z3C numbered 14W37. He was charging the phone overnight. And in the morning the back was broken. He got the phone repaired by Sony without any costs.
Some people means that the Z3C produced before week 38 are all faulty. So if you want a good one the find a phone where the date is 14W38 or later. And that date you CANT se on the boxes. The date is on the sim card flap.
The main problem for me is i had iPhone's since 2007. So i really need a change. Things is just got boring with iPhones- Its just the same phone just BIGGER AND BIGGER
I hope someone can answer my questions here

The camera isn't bad.
At least the hardware is, Sony really wont give a better camera to it's concurrent, it's just the software that's bad in my opinion. Also note that Apple could perfect their software since they only had to worry about 1 phone over almost a decade.
I'm not sure if you seen the topic I made solely to show what the camera can do, if not I'd say check it out, you'll find some samples there. (Link in signature)

I haven't tried it out myself, but if I'm correct there are 3 volume options when it comes to recording. 1 for when you're at a concert the other one for normal situations and the last one for quiet situations.
I've seen a video recording made by the Z3C at a concert and the sound was quite perfect in my opinion (will see if I can find the vid)

Sony Xperia X Performance on the T-Mobile Network setup question

Hello,
I'd like to buy the X Performance when it comes out and use it on my current T-Mobile network. Since I'll be buying the phone unlocked, I understand I will need to input certain "setup" info for the phone to work properly. I actually know how to enter in everything and also WHAT to enter too.......... the APN info, Voicemail, etc.
What I DON'T know how to do is enter in the following fields and where to enter them in too:
Short Message Service (SMS)
SMS Email: [email protected]
Email center: 500
Where do I go to enter those on a Sony phone?? Or, will my T-Mobile SIM card just automatically enter these in for me? Please explain.
Thank You!!

Seems like a very premature question. You might have to wait a few months for the phone to be released to get this answer. Can I have your Galaxy S7 when you get the XP?

lol What up Puff?
Well I actually got the answer I believe on the T-Mobile forum site. Someone there said they never had to that stuff and they have an unlocked phone too. I think I may have to do the APN part, but I have all that info now anyway. So it should be ok.
Yeah.......... it was just announced TODAY that the X Performance is being released GLOBALLY (including U.S. I believe) the FIRST week of July. F M L. lol
Xperia X range release dates in Europe
Xperia X – Late May 2016 (week commencing 23 May)
Xperia XA – Late June 2016 (week commencing 20 June)
Xperia X Performance – Early July 2016 (week commencing 4 July)
Haha have? No. But I WILL be selling it on eBay. lol What sucks is by then it will be worth a little less so that's less money I'll have to put towards the X Performance. Really p's me off that they're taking THIS long to release it when it was announced back in FEB. The S7 is great but there a few things that I don't like about it that are an issue for me. If you want to know more, let me know.
I don't get why they'd release it last too? It's the best of the 3 phones, so why release it LAST? Especially with the Z series now being history. Sony..........makers of great phones, employers of the world's biggest ****-tards for marketing and sales. No TV ads, no........but let's put our generic/lightweight ads on the internet only. Umm...... that's NOT how it works. The only ppl who will see those ads are the ones who are ACTIVELY seeking Sony phones. You need to get the name out there. Get some big celebrities like Clooney or Lawrence to do your ads, and make them COOL not idiotic like that new LG G5 one with Jason Statham. lol Until then, they could AT LEAST put THIS sweet ad on American TV. I think it trumps all their "usual" ads on YouTube by miles. Love the music on it too. Actually "sells" the Predictive Hybrid Autofocus rather well too without having to try so hard.

Puff,
1) Screen Brightness: Under heavy sunlight, the screen brightness on the S7 is f'ign awful. Squint (your eyes) City. lol My Z3's screen brightness S*IT on the S7's.
2) Fast But Not Fast lol: Touchwiz is not that great. Yeah the S7 is very fast for downloads, but I compared the speed of jumping around from app to app on the homescreen vs. doing the same thing on my parents' Xperia Z1s (released January 2014), and THEIR phone was loading things up faster. For real. lol That lag is all Touchwiz. Plus although the Settings Menu is better than before, I still find it more confusing to navigate through than Sony's or HTC's are.
3) Audio Issues (and I'm an Audiophile......Lite lol): First off, the speaker. It's F'ING GOD AWFUL!!! Seriously. There's only one speaker, and it's facing down. Drum sounds render on it like the sound of someone shooting a laser gun. lol Then there's the headphone issue. Using the 3.5mm port is fine, but I use an "in-between" portable amp/DAC device which hooks up to my smartphone and headphones via Micro USB. While listening to music this way, at least once every few minutes (sometimes more), I will hear a hiccup or skip. I pay GOOD money for my Hi-Res music, and the S7 is taking the enjoyment away from me everyday I'm STUCK with it until the XP comes out (a nice big F U to Sony Mobile's execs for deciding to release the FLAGSHIP X phone LAST)! Oh, and using that same setup to watch YouTube videos? Forget it. Hiccup? Try "mad stutter" to the point where it's not even worth it. This makes the screen brightness issue not seem so bad. lol
4) Home Button: This might be more a preference thing, but I've come to realize I DO NOT LIKE physical home buttons. I'd found an app that makes the physical home button act like a virtual one, but it only seems to work 60-70% of the time. So since it's not 100%, this for me becomes yet another issue I have with this phone.
That's pretty much everything I guess. Samsung Pay is kinda cool, the camera is fantastic, wireless charging is kinda kewl too, looks pretty premium too (cuz they finally did what Sony's been doing FOR YEARS and stopped making plastic-bodies phones lol), but I know the XP's camera will be great, and wireless charging is no big deal to me at all (the free one I got from Samsung is not even QC 2.0). They say Samsung may make Samsung Pay available to other phones, so if that happens, I'll probably get it again on Sony, but if not, I won't lose any sleep either. But at the stores, ppl do seem interested in watching me use it. lol It BY FAR is the best mobile pay method there is. It works every time., and you can set it up to be activated via fingerprint which saves you a couple seconds of not having to enter in your passcode.
Hope that helps!
I'm surprised to hear you say the screen doesn't get bright enough. All of the phone comparisons I've seen on YouTube indicate that it's the brightest of the major manufacturers.
I need a loud speaker though because I like showing YouTube videos to my wife and listening to music in the shower. It needs to overcome background noise fairly well.
How does it fit in your hand though? Comfortable one hand operation is key for me.

Puff,
It might come as a surprise, but it's the truth. Under heavy sunlight, I can barely see my screen. At 100% brightness, my S7 is maybe only 75-80% as bright as my Z3 was. And judging by this video comparison of the Z5 vs. the X (X & XP have the same screen I believe), the XP should be PLENTY bright. (Watch it all if you like, but in particular, make sure you check out 3:35 - 4:25).
The S7's speaker IS loud....... so you don't have to worry about that. It just doesn't sound very good is all. For showing your wife YouTube videos, the XP would be the clear winner there. STEREO front-facing speakers that are also very clear................vs. a downward facing speaker that isn't. But again, that's just my opinion. I felt the Z3's speakers were plenty loud (like the M8's), so I don't see it being a problem. Plus the XP like the S7 will be waterproof.
The S7 fits pretty well in my hand. I can't complain there. The S7 Edge that I had briefly before it was too big plus there's no way to deactivate the edge screens, so I'd constantly be accidentally starting up apps or hitting virtual buttons on screen while watching videos.
Let me know if you have any more questions, and what you think of that video too.

I don't know if it's that they don't care, it's just that those features (regardless of which brand phone it is) are carrier-specific, not phone-specific. I just confirmed with a T-Mobile supervisor that information, so unfortunately it sounds like if I get the XP I won't get HD Voice or VoLTE. Sux but oh well. I love the phone too much to give that stuff up. If I get it and am unhappy with it, then I'll just get the T-Mobile HTC 10 instead. A very close 2nd IMO. But the XP has a better camera, so since I don't make many calls, the XP still sounds better.

km8j,
Some GOOD news..........despite my discovery that the X series will not have VoLTE, I found out it's really not an issue at all. Having VoLTE used to mean you could browse and connect to the internet WHILE ON a call. Before you couldn't do both. But I just tested out an Xperia Z1s which does NOT have VoLTE on it, and tried to browse the net and use apps like GMail app while on a call...... and apparently now you CAN do both at the same time even w/o having VoLTE!! So really, it's not a big deal at all!
VoLTE helps to connect your calls faster too, but if I have to wait a few more seconds, so be it.

This is not factually accurate. For years, GSM has been able to handle simultaneous voice and data. The issue is, without VoLTE, when you make a call and are on LTE, the data signal falls back to HSPA, which is far slower and less reliable. So yes you can do data at the same time but not as fast. Also, b12 not being supported means not as good signal in areas where that is deployed. VoLTE offers shorter call connect times, yes but also higher quality audio, more reliability and more.

Oh geez, you're RIGHT km8j!! lol I just realized while reading your post that yeah VoLTE DOES let you stay in 4G LTE while on a call. Thanks. lol Yeah not as fast.
b12??
Ok yeah....... better quality calls too. Oh well. lol I found out now that Verizon and Sprint just got that recently, so that's prob why I remembered not being able to do both at the same time. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile in Feb of 2014. When I had Verizon, they did not yet have that option, only AT&T and T-Mobile did. So that affected my statements made.

Sony once again has no band 12? So service with t mobile isn't 100% supported and may see signal drop in areas where t mobile branded phones will still have signal.

What? That's not true. Sony most certainly has Band 12/700 MHz service for the XP, and T-Mobile does offer it it as well.

T mobile is band 12 1700 or 2100 I thought. They barely use the 700

No brotha........ they might have 1700 too, but I know FOR SURE they have Band 12/700 MHz cuz I've been following that s*it for a while now. Even on that T-Mo map link I just sent you it says "Officially announced markets where 700 MHz band 12 network has been deployed have a circled 12 placed on them."
So don't worry about that. lol As long as you live in an area on the map on that page that has it now, you'll have it with the XP too, if you were to get it I mean.
No. Just because the hardware supports it, doesn't mean it will work. T-Mobile has to certify it. Sony won't go through that. They don't care

As above the ideal way to use the xperia p is pretty much on Att. And even then you're lacking features. Is there anything in the near future standardizing LTE bands?

I don't understand. If the network has it, and the phone supports, why wouldn't it work?? This isn't VoLTE, this is something the phone actually has. So according to you, the 2G and 3G networks wouldn't work then b/c Sony didn't have them certified through T-Mobile either...which means you wouldn't even be able to make calls on it.
Not only does this site say that both the phone and T-Mobile match up with regards to Band 12, even GSM Arena's specs sheet for the XP states it has Band 12. So I have a hard time understanding how it won't work.

MGS,
Well AT&T is fine too as they (like T-Mobile) are also a GSM-based network carrier. Both are equally compatible with the XP per that site I linked you earlier.
I would hope that in the NEAR future all phone makers make HD Voice & VoLTE standard. My guess as to why that hasn't happened yet is that it would cost more money and the phone makers know that not all markets actually have these options yet. But they should just include them anyway as that is changing everyday.

Question so this is almost $1000 phone and still has bloatware and ads?

how about call recording?
so sorry for spaming but all these bul**** reviews do not say
Call recording is forbidden for European rom.
+ many bugs
+ Low light photo and video are really bad
+ Average battery life
Cheaper than other flagship, but not as good.
Worst sw ever seen on a phone in 10 years
Everything good
Where is it $1000 phone? 699 for 8/256. It is far from 1000. Yes it is buggy, it has been released too soon and too fast. There is call recorder on XiaomiEU ROM.

Question Snapchat/Instagram horrible video recording lags

Does anyone else noticed that when you record videos with Snapchat/Instagram when it's dark, that the video turn out horribly laggish?
I didn't have this happen on any of my previous OnePlus phones.
This video demonstrates the issue:

I have a reply for you here
Terrible Video Call quality and Lags (whatsapp ,etc etc)
Hi Guys. Despite this is a great device for some aspects it really disappoints in areas where nowadays phones should be shining. Are you having this terrible blur from front and back camera during videocalls? WhatsApp is literally embarrassing...
