Marshmallow only 1 image will it work for project fi ?
T-Mobile will probably have a carrier build of 6 and I'm sure shortly there will be a fi build as well
It does have Wifi calling built in so it should work as is for both T-mobile and Fi.
For T-mobile just download the app.

Does this work like T-Mobile's WiFi calling? Or should I just wait for a T-Mobile specific build? I'm literally sitting here with fastboot ready and a USB cable haha
Not sure how T-Mobile WiFi calling is set up on the nexus. Just know it works on project fi with WiFi calling.

Hmm...... And the WiFi calling is part of fi isn't it? I wanna take a guess and say it's just supported for fi. They say T-Mobiles carrier specific build should be released this week, so I should just wait for now probably, tempting though!

That's true too! Just a pain to dump my userdata twice!
I'm on Tmobile and I can confirm Wifi calling works just fine with the newly released M factory image
There's only one image since wifi calling is a part of the os now, no need for separate builds just for the feature

Nope. The T-Mobile OTA page shows that they are updating to MRA58K, which is the same unified build that everyone else is getting.
I'm just chiming in to also confirm, unified build for sure! I flashed it and it's working great! Thanks guys! You're awesome!

You wouldn't have to. You'd just flash the system.img and boot.img. You dont have to lose all your data when fastboot flashing, if you do it manually and not using the flash-all scripts.

I'm stock 5.0.1on Verizon I haven't rooted or unlocked because of these problemsthese problems seems as if at times phone freezes up has 3G or Sometimes 4G but still no Internet connection then finally after sometimes 5 minutes it connects up and it's fine it's not network because my wife's Droid 4 gets 4G kind of embracing. Also seems slow to hook up but decrypting may solve that. Are these the problems you are talking about or is my phone jacked?

This happens on my T-Mobile version. Sorry. I know the OP only asked for Verizon people.
Where is this verizon apn update.zip you speak of? The biggest issue I'm having is not being able to get data through my network extender. I have tried stock, aosp, cm12, all roms have the same issue. Pretty sure its an apn issue.

I believe all the regular extenders are all the same I know someone who just got one and it's the same as mine. I have had several android phones some work some don't. The Note 4 does Nexus doesn't. Makes no difference you need wifi to make them work anyway so you have data

Just switched to tmo and purchased a 64gb Nexus 6 from Motorola. Should be here next week.
I had a few device & carrier questions being this is my first Nexus device (besides tablets)
I will be using this device on T-Mobile but it's from the Moto store.
Who will I be getting updates from? T Mobile or Google directly?
I plan on flashing a custom rom (most likely Pure Shamu from what I've gathered) being that one model of nexus supports all carriers (radios).. I read that T-Mobile will be pushing an update to support wifi-calling (which I need in my home). Will that work on my particular device or is there a specific T-Mobile Nexus that I'd need?
Lastly, I do use wifi tether quite a bit, and on my current devices rom they have the unlimited wifi tether hack.
Is that something built into a rom or has to be done separately?
Thanks for any help that can be given.
Oh, forgot one question.
Also read up on the encryption ordeal.
I don't need that on my device but is there any benefit to have it or not have it enabled?
Again, thank you.

Nexus is GSM unlocked and should theoretically work on all carriers out of the box. I bought mine from the motorola store and is working without any problems.
Updates come from google directly.
If you want to use Wifi calling, I believe that you do have to be running stock firmware, nobody will know for sure until it gets released.
I believe Shamu allows you to bypass the tether limit. I'm currently using CM 12 and tethering doesn't count towards my tethering limit.
The only benefit of not having encryption enabled is faster boot times.

If you root your phone, you can add the hack yourself. I am on a stock rom, and my grandfathered data plan has no tethering allotment, but i can tether to my heart's content. I copied this from another thread:
I was able to work around the issue by modifying the following sqlite database (you'll need root):
/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
You need to add a new entry to the global table called "tether_dun_required" with a value of 0.
It looks like you need to do this because some configuration data was added to Android for T-mobile that forwards tethered data to this APN: pcweb.tmobile.com
T-mobile is probably checking to see if your account has tethering enabled when you go through this APN.
After I made this change I also needed to change my APN settings so that it uses ipv4 instead of ipv6. It seems like tethering with ipv6 does not work 100% yet.
I hope this helps.

Definitely rooting and most like run a stockish custom rom. Hoping that's built in if not I'll take a look into that.
Most of the custom roms I've run on t-mobile have that built in and are preset to ipv 4 not 6 for that exact reason.

Ok so my noob question to go with this topic.. is there a way to use the LED notifications with the stock Tmo 28E? I'm guessing Google has to fully release LYZ28E(r5) or something so that every tmo user can use wifi calling in a nonstock ROM?

I tested the free version of this last night. Seems pretty good. I wish it'd blink rather than stay solid. If it does this - I'll be honest and say I didn't spend much time looking.
Guess I'll go flash 28E now and install light flow. The WiFi calling is a huge help in the big building I work in these days. Thanks!
Strange issue. I activated Project Fi yesterday on my Nexus 6 running lmy47z. Everything updated and works fine, however I keep getting prompted to do a system update to 5.1.1. I downloaded it and looked at the log in TWRP and its showing that it's trying to update me to lyz28e. I know lyz28e is the T-Mo build that enabled wi-fi calling among other things. I noticed that in my area I get better T-Mo coverage, hence my phone defaults to T-Mo when I run a *#*#344636#*#*. When I force to Sprint, the issue doesn't happen, however, my coverage is extremely poor, so this is not a good solution.
Here are my questions:
1.) Wi-fi calling already works on lmy47z, why do I need lyz28e?
2.) How do I get the prompt to stop coming up? Project Fi support told me to clear my project fi app cache... this did not work. I don't really want to flash to 28e if I don't have to.

Just a quick update on this, after working with a few different Fi reps and their "higher ups" it was determined that the issue was caused by the build and it's interaction with the network. I flashed to 48C and have not had the issue since.

I flashed the rooted version via twrp found here on xda. I'm on my phone so I don't have a direct link, but it's in a thread from one of the mods if you search for the build. It took fine without a full wipe (just wiped the sys and dalvik cache).

I figure since people have had the phone for a few days now, maybe there is a definitive answer to be had. I contacted Verizon and they said that WiFi calling and HD calling will not work and that an unlocked phone will remove these features from my account. But, Verizon did say that VoLTE and Video calling will work. I contacted Samsung support and they said that all 4 features will work but that I would need to contact Verizon to enable the features on their end. Seems like a runaround.
Is there anyone with the unlocked variant and Verizon that can confirm what does and doesn't work? Thanks!
I do not have any of those working. I will try calling Verizon. I really want VoLTE/HD calling to work.

Yeah I had my phone on airplane mode just to check and only had Wi-Fi. Received texts, calls etc no problem. HD calling works too. Wow sorry guys I just realized you guys are talking about the non snapdragon version? I missed that part in the original post, but to be honest, a few people even with snapdragon are having this problem of getting it set up so I wouldn't give it up.
I'm taking about the snapdragon US unlocked variant so please update when you have the details, thanks again!
Yeah, I think we're all probably talking about the snapdragon US unlocked variant. So, MACHEK, I think you're info is still good, correct?

just by looking at his statusbar, I believe he doesn't have an unlocked version.
He must have the Verizon carrier specific Note 8.
