Hi
im trying to upgrade to cm 12.1 following this guide
Ive downloaded the files and installed twrp and coppied the cm12.1.zip and gaaps.zip to sd card (and checked with md5)
however when entering twrp and trying to flash the cm12.1 (following a complete wipe) I get an error saying "e: whole-file signature verification failed"
the s5mini then reboots
Ive search around the net and people surgets I should turn off verification in TWRP. that option isnt present in the TWRP menu.
What should i do now?
I have same problem
My problém was that i have not rooted device...
Solved
I appears that you first have to flash the file inside the Odin archive and then afterwards flash the TWRP file. Then your'e in business

My phone is running the latest version of Cyanogen. (also with Amon_RA's recovery image)
I got the zip, changed it to update.zip, placed it on the root of my SD card, and attempted to flash.
I get the error
"E: no signature (411 files)"
"E: Verification failed"
"installation aborted."
Do I need to go back to the stock ROM before I can apply this update?
Maybe the recovery image has to be the stock recovery image?
First thing I'm going to try is installing the version that has root preinstalled.
I'll update after.

you NEED to flash the pre-rooted version if you're going to flash via recovery.
yep, that worked. Thanks.
I just bought a used G1 and was trying to root it.
It had RC30 on it so I downgraded and after the process of changing the recovery image, I can now no longer log into the phone.
I've tried everything and I still can't.
I also can't open the update.zip, it says.
E:No signature (5 files)
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted
HELP I
Downgraded
Got Telnet App and rooted
Installed custom recovery
Then tried to update radio, which didnt work and now I cant login!
I've been trying to flash Cyanogenmod 7 on my Captivate for a while now. I'm rooted and unlocked with ROM Manager installed and flashed Clockworkmod Recovery.
When I go into Android recovery mode and hit "reinstall packages", the meter fill about 1/3 of the way and then says:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted."
I also tried restarting in recovery mode from ROM manager, but it just sent me to Android recovery.

A couple of things first.
You should've posted this in the Q&A section, it's a more appropriate place for it and you'll get more help.
Do you already have CWM installed?
What are you currently running on your phone?

Try to flash it in recovery, for some reason it aborted the command. than ive try a earlier release supersu1.43 . Same problem it will abort the command. than i switch to TWRP latest image . try doing the same and it still fails. ive also try -viperboys- method it did the same thing it aborted the command of flashing any type of zip files.

Hello
I used WugFresh's awesome Nexus Root Toolkit to unlock, root and install custom TWRP recovery. I have 2.8.2.1 version installed. I am unable to do any tasks with this TWRP, however. It throw error when I try to Wipe Cache, make backup or anything else for that matter.
I tried to update using fastboot but I haven't figured that part out yet.
Can anyone provides some assistance as to what the cause of error could be? I am on 5.0.1 build, encrypted.
Thanks
Try:
Code:
fastboot flash cache cache.img
From your 5.0.1 factory image, keep extracting until you see all the .img files including cache.img.
I didnt have any issues with 2.8.2.1 but i have since switched to 2.8.2.0 since its the official version.
Download 2.8.2.0 from their website. Boot into bootloader and type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img where recovery.img is the downloaded twrp file.
I was able to flash cache.img, but TWRP is still giving error when I try to do any action. It keeps saying unable to mount storage.

Flash the 2.8.2.0 twrp img
Thanks. It was the encryption doing its job. I had to put in the password to get it going. Appreciate all the help here
I can't seem to flash new ROMs - get an error message "E:Error executing updater binary in zip". Tried both slimRom and Liquidsmooth
I'm rooted on 5.0, decrypted, busyboxed, with the latest TWRP v2.8.2.1. Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue, did you ever get it resolved?
i am also having this issue....I have a thread going. "HELP i cannot flash any custom roms"
The TWRP 2.8.3 is out and has been for a little while I would try the newest version (the one I said above) it seems to be working better for me than the earlier ones.
