Why not backup your current rom and flash a stock s6 rom to see if the problem still exist. It might be be rom u installed does not support the gear vr..

I tried that..but when I flash a new stock rom via odin..it doesn't boot past s6 screen..i have to flash a 3rd party kernel for it to boot.. also I tried a friend's s6 edge last nite n it worked perfectly on my gear vr no distortion. .but he is completely stock... .I think it's might be kernel related..I would love a stock rooted kernel if possible or just the stock kernel. .I can flash.. Idk whats wrong or what can be causing this not to boot on stock firmware. .

i know it's a little late but when you flash a stock rom try to do a factory reset, Then it'll get past the logo screen

Today I installed the aDownloader on my Captivate and it seems to be working fine, except when the phone goes into sleep mode, I can't get out of it. I have to take out the battery and reboot the phone that way, and I noticed when I do that, even though the phone was unresponsive it was still downloading data. Does anyone know how to stop it from freezing up?

some more info would help.....
like what rom and kernel you're using. oc/uv settings is my first thought ....
I personally am unfamiliar with that app but without more details I don't think anyone could give you an answer...
Im using the Phonix ROM. All I did today is root the phone, install clockwork, and then installed the Phoenix rom. Then I found the adownloader app, installed it, and once I started downloading files, the phone started freezing up

Well I think that if anything it would be a kernel issue but I believe the latest phoenix comes with speed mod which is known for it's stability.
I'd ditch the app or try a similar one to see if you get the same result.
Sorry I couldn't help more.

Hi All,
I have a strange problem for the last month or so which is giving me a lot of headache. I was hoping someone here could help me.
I have a galaxy s i9000 which I got on contract from 3 UK a few months back which came with Froyo 2.2.1. Everythng was fine and sometime later, i was offered an upgrade to Gingerbread and I went ahead with it. Then, I decided to root the phone as well with CF-Root, something I had never done before (rooting Androids that is).
It went well with that as well, and I got CWM and Superuser installed but I discovered that I can't use the Wifi anymore. The moment I switch on the wifi, within a few seconds the phone goes off into a bootloop. Switching off, battery pull, nothing works and the bootloop just comes back when the phone is booted back up. Apart from a full factory reset and a restore from a nandroid backup I haven't found a way of correcting this. So effectively, I am without Wifi at this point. Since then, I have switched to a different cf-root kernel, added lagfix etc. and everything works...except the wifi. I have not touched the ROM in any way, despite being tempted to do so many times. Didn't want to break anything else in the phone being quite new to this.
The current setup of the phone is the following:
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000JV5
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVO-CL182937se.infra
Build: GINGERBREAD.NEJVD
I had other cf-root kernels before, and all of them have the same wifi issue. This one at least gives me a very smooth interface.
Would really really appreciate if someone out there can help me or point me in the right direction. Why am I getting this bootloop when I switch on the wifi and is there a way of stopping this? Many thanks in advance.
Abhi
I'd come off that baseband as its your network operators release, flash JVH, JVP, JVR or JVB or something, then all should be fine dude

Many thanks. Finally took the plunge and used rom kitchen for jv5 with full wipe. Things seem to be working fine now. Am still using the same kernel and it looks ok so far!

Thanks for that! But now, using my new found confidence on all things Android have installed GB 2.3.4, again from ROM kitchen. The kernel is the Chainfire kernel of JVP. Its fantastic and the phone has speeded up tremendously!! Will still try Galaxian to see if it gets better.
Hello, i have my tab for quite a while now and I've been having this issue for months now, at first it didnt bother me but at times it gets frustrating. The thing is whenever I am using my tab, suddenly the tab doesn't respond(particularly the touch screen) and I have to lock the tab and unlock it in order to fix it. I had this issue when i was in stock 2.2 then upgraded to stock 2.3 and still had the issue. I Decided to flash with overcome 4.0 and still the issue is there, I hope someone can help me with this..
Theres a new rom out called icontact its really good and better thsm factory.im on the sprint gt so not much for me to choose from

can you give me the link and instruction to install the rom? thanks
If you have upgraded and tried some custom ROMs and are still having these issues, I would look into faulty hardware.
But if you want to try another ROM and have a CDMA(VZW) GT check out this custom ROM. Runs smooth and is stable and pre-rooted.

hi bros!!!
days I have a problem with my camera and my cappy Galaxy s i897 ..

http://i50.tinypic.com/2r5xdfp.jpg
I would do brand new install through Odin or heimdall via download mode
thereafter check camera module connection if re flash won't help
good luck

talk about a downgrade? and if that works then as I q?
first, you have to check whether it works or not
the best way to check it is to use brand new stock ROM via Odin or heimdall.
if the camera and phone works go and grab custom ROM of your choice.
if not, you have to check inner hardware...
good luck!

Either the camera you bought online is defective or the physical connection on the board is bad... Of course there's always the chance that the connectors on the board have some corrosion on them and if you cleaned them all would be better. Or you could have installed the camera upside down so it's just seeing the inside of the phone...
I clean the contacts on the card and is well connected the camera! .. I sold the cappy used, and it came with that problem, quisas previous owner modified the driver of the camera or something, I tried the camera on another cappy and it works.
I was just told by a friend of mine who's father works for Samsung that the OTA coming out for our phone has a root proof kernel. He said stay away. . I don't know why Samsung would do that . I'm waiting to find out more.

This should be no problem as you can just flash a Stock kernel. Or the newer kernels can be made to remove this likely. Either way, since we can flash kernels, we should be ok.
its true... look at the tmobile forum.. alot of members took this update and can no longer root..
# Samsung Rooting Restriction Feature
#
CONFIG_SEC_RESTRICT_ROOTING=y
CONFIG_SEC_RESTRICT_SETUID=y
CONFIG_SEC_RESTRICT_FORK=y
CONFIG_SEC_RESTRICT_ROOTING_LOG=y
... im sure there will be a work around this..

Ya I don't know If it has to do with sprint. They've been talking about this for a while over in the original international s4 forum.
a permanent solution is being worked on, til its available if you want root you will have newest rom and stock kernel. thats all (until kernel source is released )
I already OTA updated. Sprint better not pull any shenanigans

Just a heads up from the tmobile forum, newest firmware + stock kernel = wifi issues and app issues. newest firmware + newest kernel = no root. Obviously this is just tmobile users reporting, but I would have to think it would be similar for us. If you don't like the update, about 95% sure you can odin back to stock firmware without any issue. I personally will wait till source drops and a work around is in place.
On a brighter note, most/all people who have taken the plunge and updated, are reporting performance increases in transitions. Here's to hoping the occasional stutter/lag is gone!
I'm going to put this here as I did in the 2 other ota threads.. would someone please grab a log of the link (or grab the download prior to try to install) if they are getting propmted so we can get this to look at?
A bunch of people talking about it, no one trying to get it?
Update zip posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2269426
This update got rid of my red hue on black backgrounds.
However, it added the purple blur issue
It also made it a lot smoother. I don't have to mess with my developer animation settings anymore

With the new update and Samsung new feature to prevent root S4 needs a new "Root Keeper Kernel" with those new features disabled.
Edit:
It's Already done.

Looks like there's still work to do to fix the notification that it's rooted. I'll wait a few days before flashing and rooting like crazy.
