OTG USB and charging while using USB-Devices - Teclast X98 Air 3G

I have this USB-OTG-HUB: http://amzn.to/1P5TkeQ from ACASIS.
If I boot on Win 8.1, I can charge AND use USB-Devices (like USB-Stick, Mouse...) at the same time.
This shows me, that the Tablet must have OTG Support.
But if I start Android, I can only charge, OR use USB-Devices. Is there a way to fix this in Android?

[Q] USB OTG: usb1 found, cannot use keyboard

Hello,
I have a USB OTG cable and dell keyboard that I have tested and work in OTG mode on a Nexus 7, however i cannot get them to function with my HP Touchpad 32gb, running CM9 2.6.35, built on Sun Oct 28.
The device recognizes when I plug in anything via USB, but only as a generic Linux USB hub, and not as any particular device. Are there any steps to take to debug this? Has anyone had experience with this type of an issue?
Thanks for your help,
Cory
I don't know if this is the issue, but I know the touchpad doesn't support OTG like the the Nexus does. I think you need a Y-adapter + OTG to provide power since the micro usb port doesn't give any power to the device you connect. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.
Apparently even a powered USB requires a powered Y cable to be properly recognized. I hacked together a quick Y cable manually, by splicing in another USB cable's power and ground (Red and black) to the respective locations on a female USB cable. Works as expected.
I am now communicating with an Arduino over Serial
Thanks!
Read this thread, should give you all the info you need:

Basically the Touchpad has OTG but it provides no power.

Agreed. I think people just are not stating reality regarding the ability to charge and use OTG Hosting to USB devices at the same time.
My goal here has been to attach a flash drive with video/audio media and play & charge on long flights. It looks like play, charge are mutually exclusive on my beloved TouchPad.
I've asked for the specific confirmation of this from this YouTube but have never had the poster reply:

There are devices out there that have very advanced micro USB device implementations. Sadly the HP is only superficially supportive.
I for one cannot wait to get my SGN2 smart dock which offers:
Charging
OTG (x3 USB)
Audio out
HML HDMI out

Nexus 7 OTG Questions

I have a OTG cable for my nexus 7. I need to connect it up to my computer and a mouse at the same time with a USB hub, How can i connect it to my computer. I have tried a usb-usb cable with no luck
I wonder if a wifi usb dongle would work. I hate that I had to call it a dongle, but I can't think of another word for it right now.
The tablet can either be a host (for the mouse device) or a device (for the PC host), not both at the same time. If you want to use adb while using a mouse, look into wireless adb.
Try Timur's USB Rom

I was wondering, can you use a usb otg with a usb hub so that you can use a keyboard and charge the N7 at the same time?
It probably won't work with a USB hub, because the side of the hub that plugs into the tablet wants to receive power, not give it.
But you can use a Y cable and one of the kernels that provide OTG charging, like Timur's kernel, faux123 kernel, and probably others. Search Google for 'Nexus 7 OTG charging'.

Would a USB Hub powered by AC charge a connected Nook HD+ ?

I added the usb host support and flash drive and mouse work great. I was wondering if a USB powered hub would charge the Nook HD+ when multiple devices are connected.
I don't believe it will currently charge while using usb host is on. One or the other.
interesting, thanks for the response.
If you're using verygreen's firmware, there's some tips (info from 4pda.ru).
In order to charge Nook you have to power up the Hub first, then connect a devices to the hub, then connect the Nook, then switch USB Host mode.
USB flash drive automount works only if the drive connected to the first port on the hub or directly to the Nook.
If USB device consume more than 100mAh of power than you must use the Hub (even unpovered).

[Q] Atrix HD USB - Fastboot Works, Android does not

I'm new to the Atrix HD, but have been around since the OG Droid (followed by a Droid 2, Droid 4, then Galaxy Nexus). I just picked up an Atrix HD for the first time.
USB works for fastboot - Windows 7 recognizes it, fastboot shows USB connected.
If phone is turned off, and connect USB to PC, phone boots up.
If phone is turned off, and connect USB to power adapter, it will charge.
Once booted into android, USB does not work at all. I've tried 2 different cables (both of which work to power it when connected to the wall charger) and 2 different physical machines across 3 different OS's - all with the same result. Once in Android, USB is not recognized. Nothing happens, no indication in the OS that a device is even detected.
I've tried RSD back to stock - but this did not resolve the issue.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Weird... Which Recovery are you using? Also, when did this problem started? Did you formated any partition? Any new ROM?

It was completely stock - OS and recovery.
I purchased it off ebay, so - I'm not sure when it started. I've been in contact with the buyer, and he said he never tried connecting to a PC.
With that being said, I was able to get it to work on my mac with a Nook cable. Same cable will not work in on my laptop in Win 7 or in Fedora 20 for this phone.
While not ideal, I was able to get the phone to it's desired state by using the mac (CWM recovery and CM11 ROM). After changing to CWM and CM11, phone exhibits same behavior still on Win 7 and Fedora when using a generic or genuine OEM Motorola cable (came with my Droid 4) as well as using the cables on the Mac. The only way it works is with the Nook cable on the Mac. Using the OEM or generic while attached to a wall adapter, the phone does charge.
The only thing I can think of with the Nook cable is that the connector is slightly longer than a typical USB adapter. I'm not sure why this works as I can not see any damage to the phone's USB socket.

This is really weird. But I think this is a hardware issue, even when the port may not show any signs of abuse or something like that. If you connect the OEM Motorola cable to the Mac, does it works? If it doesn't, it's very likely to be hardware issue. Also, you got it from Ebay, that's suspicious... Any way, another thing that you can do is download all Motorola drivers for Windows and try with a ton of USB cables.
Stupid question, but what exactly are you trying to do with it? And do you have USB debugging enabled?

Charging would be a good start, but file xfer would be nice too. I've tried with USB debugging both disabled and enabled.

Nexus 7 (2013) OTG cable charging and reading USB/External HD and other stuff.

Nexus 7 (2013) with OTG and charging at the same time.
NO MODE NEEDED
[Little Intro]
I bought a Nexus 7 (2013) to use as a personal computer.
I admit, I've ****ed up the device a few times experimenting with kernels and stuff.
The thing is, you just need it rooted to use USB reading. Then you think: ok, I'm using USB and external HDs, I'm using mouse and keyboard, a external all-in-one Card Reader, and even a device that communicates with an XBox Wireless controller, but using as a computer the battery will go quickly.
I've tried two Android Cyanogen's distros and ****ed up the device 6 times. So I kept the default kernel rooted, plugged into the USB Hub device and said: well, **** off.
The thing is, when using the device I've noticed it was charging, but not saying it was charging.
[Explanation]
With my little technical knowledge of electronics I can explain what happens here.
The kernel does not support the use of OTG and charges at the same time: that is theoretical, saying that in software is not the same that measuring that.
So, what if the system charges but it just do not know?
Even if the both sides have the same potencial difference (I guess that is called voltage in english, a term disregarded in my born language, sorry about my english by the way), what if one side is providing a larger current? In theory the other side will charge, if it is a battery.
So, what actually happens is that the Nexus 7 charges, but the system level software, that, in theory, do not permit that, just do not show what is actually happening.
Obs.: I've tested the USB-Hub into my computer and it accuses overvoltage, and then when plugged to my computer I need to turn off the external power of the gadget. So, it is probably because of the specific gadget I'm using.
[Little things]
That could, may, just be possible with some specific equipment, so I will post the exactly equipment I'm using, and how I'm using it.
I ask you guys just try without the power loop I'm using to know if it is necessary, and the Nexus 9 guys to test if the same happen with it.
[The equipment]
My USB-Hub: www.dx.com/p/7-ports-powered-usb-hub-678
My OTG cable: www.dx.com/p/micro-usb-male-to-usb-female-w-usb-male-otg-cable-black-170927
[How do I connect it]
I connect the OTG cable by the male micro-USB into the tablet, loop the power with the male-USB into any USB port of the hub and connect the female-USB into the default hub main port - that one that is not the default USB-like format.
I power the USB hub and that's it. I'm using a Logitech dual transceiver with mouse and keyboard, the default microsoft XBox USB gadget, a generic all-in-one card reader and a 4GB Seagate external HD plugged into the hub.
[A final little thing]
Yes, it does not charge quickly, and yes, sometimes the battery level will be consumed a little bit. But it works well generally, without any mode needed.
It seem that is not the same as in powering mode. I'm thinking in to build an image that permits to choose between on or off in the USB out port. Can someone guarantee me that this is what the Cyanogen kernels do?
Kernel mode differences
Just to be clear, the "original" kernel mode can't know that it is charging and accessing the OTG at the same time, even doing it.
Maybe, and just maybe, the other kernel modes just let the kernel know it, having no difference to the original kernel. That's a big maybe, but a possible one.
I'd expect someone to confirm that the kernel modes "cut off" the voltage, and because of that may charge faster. Someone?
