are you able to get into recovery? if so, try wiping everything (cache/dalvik, data, internal storage), then flash the stock images. which instructions are you following?

I believe you do not have to put the .IMG at the back of the files as they are already .IMG. Files
Are you using mfastboot?
The IMG file is in the same folder as mfastboot?
What are you typing in the cmd window

well i installed the minimal ADB and fastboot installer with the adb and fastboot files in the zip, i extracted and installed, plug phone in USB debugging active, i type in command adb devices, get confirmation of device then type adb reboot bootloader, phone boots into bootloader, once in bootloader i type, fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.6.3.1-ghost-4.4.img after which i get the error message, also when the file is saved, the .img is not there, ive done it as is and adding the .img to the end with the same result

and look at the guide for unlocked bootloaders it should walk you though how to get it done correctly because you are spouse to use
MFastboot not fastboot.
alright, i got twrp installed, use mfastboot and had to add the .img to the end of the file, so i now have twrp installed, backups made and saved to my computer for the just in case, i hace access to twrp through rom manager, i am wondering if i can flash cwm using rom manager, the reason i ask is ive always used cwm with all my other phones and i just like using what i know and am comfortable with it, will i fudge everything up trying to use rom manager to flash cwm rather than the fastboot method.
p.s. thank you for the link and advise

[Q] Problems while flashing moto g 2014 stock rom? or How to install stock rom?

Hi, My device model is XT1068
I wanted to flash stock rom so i downloaded PURE EDITION stock rom from http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/rom-stock-lollipop-rom-t3024800,
then i Switched off the mobile opened bootloader using power button & volume up,
connected to fastboot, opened cmd when i typed adb reboot-bootloader, i get this error message
adb server is out of date. killing...
* daemon started sucessfully *
error: device not found
Then downloaded latest Minimal ADB and Fastboot, same problem now it shows error: device not found but i can flash, erase using fastboot.
So i downloaded [Windows Tool] Moto G 2014 XT1063/64/68 Restore to to Stock Android 4.4.4/5.0.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/rom-stock-lollipop-rom-t3024800
this method was very simple,
opened auto restore script it flashed stcok rom in less than five minutes,
but now after flashing, then in setup after google accounts & migrate it shows unfortunately setup has stopped then home screen is black & it shows system ui has stopped, nothing is working.
Re-installed it once again but same error black screen nothing is working, only on top sim network is visible.
Finally tried to install Pure stock rom from recovery,
it shows failed error,
error executing updater binary in zip
Please anyone help me, i've ran out of ideas what to do?
Mmmm if i was you i will reset everything and then go to Cynanogenmod Nightlys for your device if nothing is working. If cynanogenmod doesn't work go try a different rom
Pure Edition XT1068 ROM is flashable zip which is to be flashed using CWM/TWRP and not via fastboot mode. Update your TWRP recovery to latest 2.8.6.0 and then flash the Pure Edition ROM zip.
Here is the link to update your TWRP http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/xt1063-t3018818

error executing updater binary in zip.
Try downloading the ROM again and place it in internal sdcard and then flash.

Soft brick MOTO X XT1052

I was trying to flash custom rom to my phone but keep on getting "error executing updater binary in zip" . Trying out the options I accidentaly wiped internal storage and with it the recovery. Now i am not having any OS in my phone
I have downloaded couple of rom from Cyanogen for MOTO X (ghost) but each of them give same error ,using twrp 2.8.7.0 as recovery (haven't tried by changing with other because its the only thing left there)
Also tried
flasing custom ROM
but here the problem is "downgraded security version update gpt_main version failed"
Was running on Android 5.1 before this all happened
PLEASE HELP DONT WANT T HARD BRICK MY PHONE
You have to flash stock rom using Rsd lite and u will be good to go
can't find a stock rom asia retail android 5.1
and can't flash 4.4 it shows downgraded security version update gpt_main version
Use the TWRP here (thanks to @rrvvrr) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3171698&d=1424260997
Its 2.8.5.0. it resolves the script error on xt1052 which official verions have.
Here's the XT1052 IMAGE https://mega.nz/#!U9lRFBgD!POchMYI96ZTy16M_PGSZ4aIjo6ktpaHKaJAmp6XBUR4

I recommend you flash the factory image through RSDLite once and then proceed to flash CM if you want
rsd dosen't recognize device
I just have the firmware of android 4.4 for my device but lastly it was running on 5.1 so i need that and i cant find that for my device
Can you please describe the step by step procedure to do
Thanks

My phone wiped everything and is bricked atm. I'm trying to flash the image you posted here but it fails every time at the partition and system stages. It won't work in RSDLite so I tried doing it in cmd but fails at those two points. Do you know why this might be?
Thanks

I was on 6.0 on XT 1095. Please help me flash this stock ROM to get out of bootloop

Hi,
I was on 6.0 on XT1095. Tried to root it. Screwed up by flashing something that didn't work. Now i am stuck on 'warning bootloader unlocked' screen. Previously when I was on 5.1 I restored my phone from bootloop by using official images from Moto and using their instructions. Now there are no 6.0 images. I guess trying to reflash the whole 5.1 ijmages would brick my phone. I tried flashing just the system image of 5.1. It didn't work.
I found this 6.0 stock ROM here on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/rom-xt1095-flashable-stock-rom-t3277874 . How do I flash this?
Please help. I'm on stock recovery. Previously I ran commands like 'fastboot flash system x.img' and so on when phone was in fastboot mode. How to flash this zip now.
Thanks in advance.
A bootloop is simple to get out of. Just press and hold the power and volume down keys to boot into recovery and go from there. If your phone isn't booting past the unlocked bootloader warning splash then you need to elaborate on WTF you flashed. Just saying "something that didn't work" isn't sufficient to make an accurate diagnosis.
To flash that stock ROM you posted a link to above would require you to fastboot flash a custom recovery first.
As for restoring a 5.1 image I don't understand why you'd think that would brick your device. You're formatting the entire device by going back to ANY stock image. Just because you are on 6.0 doesn't mean you have to restore a 6.0 stock image (that probably won't be available for some time).

Half Dead Motorola X 2nd gen XT1093 with no OS

Hi everyone
i have a motorola x 2nd gen xt1093 us cellular which i believe is in a state of coma cuz there is no OS only access to bootloader and recovery...
heres where it started
1. 5.1 was running perfectly fine but i wanted to convert to pure edition and get os 6.0
2. I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it with kingo
3. I installed twrp 3 and made a backup, it was normal
4. I restored with backup and kept getting stuck at "android is starting, starting apps"
5. I stupidly wiped everything essensially deleting the OS
here is what i have tried so far
1. flashed stock recovery and did factory reset but still cannot go beyond Bootloader Unlocked Warning
2. flashed twrp recovery again, when i enter twrp my devices shows up as media device on computer, tried copying the stock firmware zip file to device but it was too big, adb pushed the stock firmware as update.zip to device, tried installing with twrp but i get the md5 error, is there something wrong with what i downloaded? i downloaded the last one from http://motorolastockrom.blogspot.com/2016/05/moto-g-2nd-gen-stock-firmware-download_32.html does md5 error mean the download is bad? cuz i had resume several times while downloading...
3. sideload option with twrp just keeps trying to start but doesn't
4. flashed philz touch cm recovery, from there tried to sideload but it also failed
5. tried the auto flasher tool by jamesjerss from http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f78...to-flasher-root-script-v3-1-firmware-1965102/ which actually does seem to install the os from the folder but again i dont go beyond bootloader ulocked warning screen
6. tried RSD lite but it doesnt detect the device even after reinstalling the motorola device manager
please help this stupid
would greatly appreciate
i kept looking around and got the right solution
anyone with a similar experience just to go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/help/os-boot-t3384786
that solved my 36hr long misery
