Hello I have a small question I have 4.4.2 version and sim unlocked so i can use any GSM and CDMA My question is: If I got the official version 5.0.1 Is SIM will be closed I will not use GSM in my city Thank you

If you upgrade to 5.0.1 you will lose the unlock at first ask you have to do is install the modem I left in the link and your unlock will return you don't have to input anything else since you already have domestic unlock

my SIM is global unlock
i mean i dont need domestic unlock
i need international unlock work after upgrade to 5.0.1

Not that much different from mine

awesome
First, thank you so much. I followed these directions carefully and successfully unlocked my sprint galaxy s4 sph-l720 (5.0.1) for use with a T-Mobile SIM card.
I had initially installed the StageFright vulnerability patch but after following these directions and flashing everything it keeps bugging me to install the patch again. Will I be able to install this without reversing the unlock?
Also, the phone seems to be unable to send or receive mms (pictures). Is there a solution for this?

I have not tried to install the patch myself
Those are untested waters so I would not be able to tell you if it would mess up the unlock
That would have to be tested firsthand you can always just redo the process if it does not work I have heard

Any ideas about being unable to send or receive MMS? Do I need to flash T-Mobile version of the OS?

I am getting mms fine with AT&T please check your apns

So it seems to work when WiFi is off. Sending works perfect but when I receive it comes in as a group with me and the person sending the picture... odd but at least it works. I only have one APN that I copied from my other Galaxy device that I actually bought through T-Mobile.
I should also mention that I performed a step that wasn't listed. I went into my network options and set my preferred network to GSM.
Here are the values for the APN I added:

I really like having this phone unlocked with 5.0.1 Lillipop but I only get 3G/H+. Is there any way to get 4G LTE? Does it matter? Are the speeds comparable?

As far as I know LTE is not compatible with our model on GSM I've looked for quite a while and came up with nothing

Thanx man
Every things work perficts

Welcome, don't thank me thank s4 devs on XDA the best community ever ......but please feel free to hit the thanks button for me xD

Anyone try this while still on muniz_ri's OD2 100% Stock Pre-Rooted Firmware (flashed via Odin) and still on mf9 bootloader? I'm currently on a custom OD2 stock rooted rom, OD2 modem, and mf9 bootloader, and would like to get on the official OD2 stock rooted rom with domestic unlocked while retaining mf9 bootloader. I haven't read anywhere that it wouldn't work (probably because nobody is still on mf9) but I'm willing to give this a shot tonight if anyone has thoughts on this?

Shouldn't be a problem, just start at step 2.

It's not physically possible. The SPH-L720 only supports B25 for LTE which is only used by sprint it appears.

Bionic on tmobile

I was wondering if it is possible to unlock the bionic to work on tmobile network. My girlfriend got this phone but already has an iphone and said i could use it. For my galaxy its simple to allow other sim cards but i cannot seem to find anything that would allow the bionic to accept my tmobile card.
Thanks in advanced

Nope. GSM vs CDMA.
Definitely not. The SIM card on the Bionic is only for the 4G. It's still a CDMA phone. T-Mobile is a GSM network.

I know this is a pretty old thread but I'm trying this phone right now in Brazil (TIM) GSM/UMTS network.
So far I was able to: install both Gingerbread and ICS stock ROMs as well as Gummy but working real deep into the configs I found that on GB Stock I could enable GSM radio and worked perfectly voice and data (2&3G) however when I switched to ICS (Gummy or Stock) when I follow the same steps to enable GSM radio when the phone actually locks signal in the com.android.telephony (or something like that) force closes and the only way to unloop is wiping data and all.
Does anyone have further information about this?
Thanks in advance

Yes but I want this working completely first. I'll review my procedure to get this working on GB and post here. Then if more people start using it on gsm maybe we can have a fix for ICS ROMs.
On Monday I give you an answer...
Yes. Once I have the procedure, I can help you to get it working on CM9 ICS for sure.

It locks up because there's ZERO support for GSM bands in the Bionic hardware. There's an LTE700 radio, and a CDMA 800/1900
http://developer.motorola.com/products/droid-bionic-xt875
There's Moto's official developer spec sheet for the Bionic. No GSM bands to be found whatsoever. It cannot and will not ever work.
This is not true. The Bionic has a fully GSM capable MDM6600 chipset, but the GSM bands are disabled in the radio firmware. There is no hardware incompatibility for having a completely global CDMA/LTE/GSM device, it's just VZW not having the network and billing infrastructure in place to make desirable(profitable) to do so. Motorola has already made the device capable of supporting all the bands, including the diversity antenna required.
The D4 has been reported to be slated for an update that will enable the global GSM radio bands and be the first such device available on VZW. No time frame has been released or even official confirmation of their intentions.

Fair enough. I'll just wait for the Bionic dev community to cook up GSM-capable Bionic radio firmware from scratch and then figure out how to bypass the locked bootloader to flash that into the phone.

I got this phone working on a 100% GSM network on Gingerbread... Now on ICS when the signal locks in the telephony process hangs and force closes... but I'm working on that
I got this done - no gsm data yet
Looking for someone to help make DATA working... I have all files but nowhere to upload to...
PROCEDURE
1. Update Bootloader to (0A.72)
2. Install stock ROM with RSD Lite
----> GB: VRZ_XT875_5.9.904.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01
Make sure Debug Mode is ON and it's connected as CHARGER ONLY (not Mass Storage)
3. Root the phone with motofail (motofail_windows.zip)
4. Install Bootstrap (BionicBootstrap.apk)
5. Reboot into recovery and install ICS Gummy (Gummy_targa-Release-1.0.2.zip + speargapps-ics-20120317-signed.zip)
6. To enable GSM/UMTS follow these steps:
1. Ensure USB is connected as PC Tools mode (not Mass Storage)
2. In Radiocomm go to MA->CDMA1X->QSC60x5
3. After it comes up, switch to FTM Common1 tab and wait for the phone to enumerate purple.
4. On the upper right side in the NVAccess, scroll to NV item 1877 NV_RF_BC_CONFIG_I
5. Read the value from the device
6. Replace the first 8 bytes (16 digits) with: 8703E80400000200
7. Write the data to the device and powercycle.
This will enable GSM/UMTS bands.
To disable GSM/UMTS, perform the same 7 steps, but replace the 8-byte data with: 0700000000000000
AFTER SOME WHILE GSM SIGNAL IS STRONG FOR VOICE BUT NO DATA
For data you'll have to edit the APN settings (assuming this is possible) to match the carrier that you're using.
This works...voice and data with no other modifications required on T-Mobile.
Its EDGE only data because the MDM6600 radio chipset does not support AWS bands for Tmo's HSPA.
Pretty amazing!!

WOW I'm impressed.
According to this https://developer.qualcomm.com/develop/mobile-technologies/3g4g-connectivity-gobi
MDM6600 supports HSPA+ data rates of up to 14.4 Mbps and CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO Rev. A/Rev. B
So I wonder what happens if you try AT&T instead of T-Mobile.
Also another question - you put in the t-mobile SIM vs an AT&T SIM - is there some type of unlocking you have to do in order to use these other SIM's or is all that's required the above instructions?
No SIM unlock required. When it boots there is a warning that the SIM is from an unknown source, that's all. The APN for data services auto provisioned from the SIM.
Google services sign in will fail and need reauthenticating.
Here is the kicker...no re editing of the NVM is required for full VZW service with LTE SIM replaced.
This edit supports either authentication ,mode.
It just works!
It should work exactly the same for an ATT SIM.

GB vs. ICS
Yes you left your phone on GB and then you do have both voice and data. I'm glad it worked for you!
Now if you try to go further moving to ICS you'll find data issue. In fact I just realized something inaccurate in my procedure: you have to update the bootloader AFTER installing the GB:
PROCEDURE
1. Install stock ROM with RSD Lite
----> GB: VRZ_XT875_5.9.904.XT875.Verizon.en.US_CFC_01
2. Update Bootloader to (0A.72)
Because the stock ROM actually installs the bootloader 0A.61.
I'll try a different custom ROM to see what happens on ICS.

I can confirm Cellzealot's findings, after some gtalk last night... it does work... My bionic is now working with my T-Mobile SIM. Its just a "seem edit" (or NV edit as its called now)
Not sure if there will be a how to.
There will be a HowTo and more once I establish this works on other devices as well. The edits appear to be the same for the D4 and Razr. The implications of this are rather enormous, given VZW's reluctance to implement this yet due to not having the network infrastructure in place to support roaming agreements and billing interoperability for global use.
This is going to get very interesting!
There are many different ways this hack can be applied and we will explore all of them. It can easily be made into an update.zip for use with CWM recovery that will avoid the need for using RadioComm or other service software for the NV edits.

[Q] GSM modems/ROMs

Does anyone have links to GSM modems for 2.2 or above roms? All i can find is WCDMA modems. I think this will resolve my problem ive been having for months, which is that all roms/modems here dont allow sim cards. So if anyone has links to GSM modems it will be much appreciated
My carrier uses a UMTS mobile network on 850/2100mhz frequency's, so a modem that supports that is required
Thanks

wtf are you talking about?
this phone IS a gsm phone.
the only way to get data/voice on this phone is WITH a sim card, so what are you talking about that every rom/modem doesnt allow sim cards?
do you have ANY idea what you are on about?

Any rom I flash my phone with I can't use a sim card after that. The phone just says no service and ALL Roms end up deleting the service menu and it doesn't detect sim card. Read my other post in Q&A forum to know what I'm talking about
You might wan't to check your APN setting. There are a good bit of modems some work better than others in different locations.
So you had a thread open regarding the exact same problem, yet you thought it was a genius idea to open a new one?
Sent from my HTC PH39100
Who is your carrier? You haven't stated it in this thread nor the other from what I read. All I gathered was that you are not i897, and have been flashing i897 roms.
Like stated above your APN settings are probably incorrect for your carrier from the repeated flashings.
If that is not the problem and you know to remove sim card while flashing and also unplug the usb during reboot then you can scratch those off the list aswell.
I'm not certain, hopefully someone with more knowledge could chime in, but is it possible from flashing the At&t carrier roms the phone got locked to At&t, thus not recognizing the unknown carrier's sim card? Try network unlocking the device?
Also, you should probably go back and reread you're other thread, I believe there are very good explainations, judging by your replies, that you just disreguarded.
edit for good measure: you are installing the sim card while the phone is off correct? you can't just take off the battery cover and put it in whenever you like.

I'm doing everything right, and as i said before it does work fine with my carrier (Telecom New Zealand) on android 2.1. I've tried every solution i can think of to fix this, but none have worked. I even tried backing up my working csc files then re-flashing after a new rom but that didnt work either. The phone basically doesnt register that it needs a sim card once it has been flashed. I get the blue circle with the line through it to indicate there's no signal (this happens with or without the sim being in). I am sort of a newbie when it comes to ins and outs of android but i thought it would be worth checking it out if its a modem issuse. Obviously by some of the replies i've got im wrong.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Edit: another thing to add is when i use the caller to open the debug menu (*# something #* ) where it usually has all details about the bands its connected to and batter information etc its completely blank (usually full on 2.1, but blank on 2.2+)

*#2263# is the number. At the moment on working 2.1 rom i get:
=BAND SELECTION=
[1] AUTOMATIC [*]
[2] WCDMA BAND []
[3] GSM BAND[]
[4] COMBU BANDS []
I will flash when i get back form holiday, at the moment i am running the stock 2.1 rom fine on my network. From what i remember once its flashed with or without a sim card it wont let me access the network settings, giving me a message like 'network not avaliable' or 'unable to register on network', thats why i cannot access APN settings.
I'll take screenshots and post them around the 28th? Then you can see what i mean.
Thanks,

If the APN setings are locked out use a utility like Tweakker or Apn Global. These programs will bypass the locked out settings and automatically set up APN MMS for your countries telecom. Download from the market by reverting to working rom or using sideloading wonder machine thru your computer.

I cant do that, when i try access network settings it asks me to insert a sim card
I had a similar problem. My phone fail to recognize the sim card a few times when the cover was off. My working theory was that the cover helped to "seat" the sim card.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Successfully flashed alternate stock ROM but still rejects my SIM - Why?

Apologies in advance for the newbieness of this question. I have scanned the forums for an answer to no avail.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE - i9305. It was on the UK Orange network and my only reason for rooting and flashing it was to use it on the UK Vodafone network. I assumed that the only thing I would need to do was put a Vodafone stock ROM on it and bob's your uncle it would work.
I rooted with CF Auto root and installed Samsung-Updates.com-GT-I9305-VOD-I9305XXBMA3-1357552475. Which is the ROM used in the Vodafone/JB version of the phone replacing the original Orange ROM. Popped in my Voda SIM and it still prompts me for the SIM Network unlocking code.
What am I missing here? I assumed that wiping the Orange ROM and replacing it with the Vodafone ROM would allow the phone to accept my Vodafone SIM.
Any help appreciated.
No, you need to unlock it, check the development section, there's a tool

Step 6: After a minute has passed, reboot your Galaxy Note II.
Your phone should now be unlocked, and ready for use with any carrier. Please note that you will NOT receive any sort of confirmation on the screen, so just put in a different carrier’s SIM and try it out.

Anyway, you need a simlock ROMs for result. Some user of this thread had to flash their original operator ROMs to unlock.
Thanks guys

Thanks for the prompt replies guys. Very much appreciated. Not sure how I didn't find this previously as it seems like a key step in the process! I think I will need to flash the original ROM back as suggested by kanzi83 as I don't have that menu option 4. NW LOCK NV DATA INITIALLIZ. I only see the first three menu items. Wish I had backed it up before I installed the new ROM but I am downloading the original as we speak and will flash it and re-try this process. I'll update here if that works. Thanks again for your help.
I'm on bma6 4.1.2. There is no option (4) in the menu in 4.1.2 but it does not matter. Follow the same instruction to off the sha256, and back to network lock to check option (1). You will be able to see the sha256 enable flag = 0

Sadly I had already flashed back to the original ROM before reading this but I can report that flashing the original ROM did the trick and the menus appeared as described above and the process worked, my Vodafone SIM is now accepted by the phone (even with the Orange\EE ROM).
So a fantastic result many thanks all for the help. I am left with a curiosity question so no obligation to answer but - is that procedure all I ever needed to do to allow my phone to accept any SIM? - OR would it not have worked if I hadn't rooted it first? It's just it seems so straightforward and I always see people on the forums asking for 'unlock codes' etc and there seems a lively business in selling these codes online but if all that is required is following the above process to accomplish the same thing why would anyone pay for a code?
And a parting shot - Respect to the XDA community, seems like a committed and smart bunch of people putting their skills out their to help us all, without the preaching or patronising you see on other sites.
Yw :good:
I think this procedure only works on the S3. I came from a Sony Xperia phone, and there was no way we could unlock the phone =\
At least not yet.
Hi,
This works on S3 4G and Note 2
No idea for other device...

[Q] Unable to register phone to the Telus network. How do I fix the problem?

Hi,
I recently purchased a brand new Telus HTC One off someone on Kijiji, and today I tried to activate the SIM card and register it on the Telus network. In hindsight, I should have activated the phone first with the stock ROM, but I didn't want to activate it before I got my case which took a couple of weeks to arrive. During that time I experimented with a few different ROMs, but failed to make a backup of my original stock ROM.
Thinking the SIM card was bad, I purchased another new one today, but I'm still receiving the same results.
Every time I try to register the phone to the network with the new SIM card, I receive the following error messages.
Phone Information > Turn off radio > press the option twice
{

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Settings > Mobile Network Settings > Network Operators > Search Networks
Settings > Mobile Network Settings > Network Operators > Select Automatically
Does anyone know how to get around this issue?
Does anyone have a backup of the stock Telus ROM and recovery image they'd be willing to share, so I can restore back to the original state?
Please let me know.
TIA,
WG

This is the stock OTA zip. Flash this, remove sim, reinsert sim, reboot phone and APN settings should automatically set.
How do you know the phone hasn't been blocked from the network (reported as stolen)?

I'm starting to wonder that now. I flashed the firmware from the Telus OTA file, and I'm still getting the error. As a last ditch effort, I tried to unlock the phone. The phone unlocked, but I still can't connect to the Telus network. I've done everything I can think of, and now I'm ready to throw in the towel.
If Telus did blacklist the IMEI number, that just means it won't work on Telus right? In theory, it should still work on any other non-Telus supported carrier, correct?
I'm not sure about there, but here the blacklist is shared across all carriers, so it is blocked from all

[Q] Baseband problems on Z3C

Hi there,
I have some serious baseband problems. Don't know if it's bootloader unlock related, because this was the first thing I did with my telephone.
I tried to relock my bootloader, but the problems don't go away. My phone originally ran on a Greece unbranded firmware. My network operator is Vodafone NL. I run version 23.0.1. A.5.77.
Once my connection is unstable, my Z3C sometimes 'forgets' the baseband settings and sets the network type to 'unknown'. I lose mobile data. However, I can still make calls. I can change it back to USA Baseband (I live in Europe) with *#*#4636#*#* --> Information --> select baseband --> 'USA Band'. After that I'm unable to make calls, but mobile data works fine again.
Have to remark that I unlocked my phone BEFORE there was a known backup method of DRM keys, so they're lost forever. I'm trying to find out if my problems are related to this. So far I ruled out:
- Recovery
- Rooted yes/no
- Unlocked/Relocked bootloader
- Different baseband versions
My only solution is to go home, reinstall baseband and all works fine again, till my phone decides to drop signal again. It's starting to drive me nuts. Any advice? And why can I only select 'USA Baseband' from the service menu?

NO it's not related to DRM keys.
I unlocked before the exploit as well and no issues so far :good:
My question is: why are you using a USA rom if you are unlocked?
Flash an european one and root it via recovery (by flashing the supersu zip).
To get the recovery you can install Androplus kernel or dualrecoverykernel by NUT.
I do not run an USA rom. That's my whole point. I run a Greek rom, because that was my original rom.
I still can't get it to work properly with custom kernels. It doesn't matter which I choose, mobile data drops permanently after some time (deep sleep) and I can only fix it if I refresh my baseband, because there is no option in the service menu to reset to European baseband, only to USA baseband, which will Break the call function

Ok, sorry for the misunderstanding then
It seems a hardware problem :crying:
Sorry for the stupid question: have you ever tried another SIM from another carrier network?
EDIT: wait, I see your operator is Vodafone NL... do you know that for your network (and some other Vodafone network) a .79 version had been released on December, 22th?
Maybe that's the point!

Thanks for the help. I am aware of that, but only tried to flash the baseband of that version. Will try to make a flashable prerooted rom and will report if it works. It is quite hard to test, because it only seems to lose baseband if I move a few miles physically.
I don't own another sim and I currently know nobody who also owns a phone with a nano sim, but I will try that as soon as I can. On that note I have to remark that I cutted my micro sim to a nano sim size. Could be related to that.. Just trying to narrow it down for me and future users who also experience this problem..

Cutting a sim from micro format to a nano is never easy like from normal to micro, because the chip is just beneath the metallic contacts.
Yes it could be the reason of network issues.
I would extract the sd card too, as sometimes it can give odd behaviours.
By the way, I would exclude anything related to unlocking the bootloader and losing the drm keys.
And yes, I would begin with flashing a whole vodafone NL stock rom.
Try and keep us informed.

Tried, but failed. Back to my old ROM. I'm running out of possible solutions.
EDIT: I pulled out my SD-card and turned off WiFi on location and so far (24hrs) I'm still good. I might be related with that.
EDIT 2: Problem was not SD-card/WiFi/SIM related. So far I narrowed it down to my phone not being able to pick up a proper WCDMA (3G) connection. Because of that it refuses to switch back to 4G mode and shows Network type: unknown. Haven't found a real solution apart from *#*#4636#*#* --> phone-info --> set network to CDMA/LTE auto (prl) and wait for the radio to reset and switch it back to GSM/LTE auto (prl)
I have similar issue with Sony Xperia Z3 Compact D5833 Indian Variant
Baseband and IMEI have become unknown
phone keeps on restarting in loop
after flashing with flash tool it starts but without Baseband and IMEI
SIM works on other phone but no SIM works on this phone
Tried multiple FTF from XperiFirm
How do I get it back to work?
EDIT
Next im going to try : https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/help/solved-help-xz-bricked-baseband-unknown-t2350795
please advise if i should try or is there a different way?
