Today I found out that the lower half of my volume button was jammed into the phone itself, the top half still sort of works.
I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how fix this or any replacements to use instead, at the moment I'm thinking of assigning the lock button to turn volume down and use a dt2w kernel instead.

Hello guys, I'm experiencing a minor issue with my ROM. Sometimes when I reboot, if i tap the volume key on the side after rebooting, the keypad lights will turn on indicating i did tap it, however, the system volume and Ring volume display would not appear on the screen. And after that the phone goes super slow. I tried to hard-reset it once but it's occurring again.
I do know there is a way to adjust Ring volume without that screen, but was wondering is there another way to adjust the System volume without tapping the side buttons?
Thanks
Sounds strange. Which ROM are you using?
You can adjust the volume by tapping on the volume icon in the taskbar.
using dutty V3.6
thanks let me try that now..
thanks i got it.. seems like tapping that works for now, if i got further problem i'll post again
thanks again the_scotsman
When I press the volume button to raise the level I am having issues. The phone will bounce back and forth one level between raising and lowering the level. After a good 30 seconds of trying this I get lucky and the volume raises. When I try to reduce the volume I have no issue.
Is anyone else having an issue with this? I feel that this is a hardware problem but I am wondering if this is a possible software issue.
Any help will earn my eternal love!!!
Perhaps this is related to the Safe Volume Level warning dialog box?

I don't think it's related. It only happens when the volume is at minimum.
nope nothing like that here. i am having a power button issue. it seems to be too sensitive. if i barley tap it it turns on the display. Is your moto x the same?
Try tapping the volume button not pressing too long. I'm having the same issue but I figure it out how to use it.
Well this is usually not a problem but I had the slim armor case on and the buttons are very sensitive. Wouldnt be the end of the world except even with the screen off this phone changes ringer volume if the vol buttons are pressed. Anyone else think this is goofy and it should only change media volume with the screen off?

It shouldn't do that unless you have Use Volume Keys to Wake on. Is the screen being turned on too?

No screen stays off. I posted in the zen kernel thread to make sure it wasn't the kernel (new version just released today), someone said that is stock ROM behavior. Can someone with a stock ROM double check?

I'm running stock 5.1 LMY47D and the ringer volume does change when the volume buttons are pressed while the screen off. However, the volume buttons do nothing when the screen is off and the phone is locked.
I too have this issue and I cannot seem to get rid of it no matter what I do. It only happens when using the "none" lockscreen.
Grab volume locker from the play store. The only back draw is that it doesnt work if connected to BT
When I'm on a phone call the screen turns off. This messes me up if I have the mute button or speaker phone (accidentally) enabled. When the other party picks up or asks something I'm unable to get the screen back quick enough and they assume the line dropped. This is really annoying. I use the power button on the phone to hang up so pressing it wouldn't work. How can I fix this problem? The easiest way I can think of is if there's an option to just not have the screen turn off?
When this happens I try tapping on the screen but it usually just comes back momentarily before I can unmute.
Volume down button is not functioning, what could the issue be?? Even the screen adhesive has come off, does the battery need to be changed?
