[ME572C] Lollipop firmware WW *.19 - MeMO Pad 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have a full firmware file for the ME572C tablet for version WW_V12.14.1.19? I'm assuming that's the designation anyway. I don't mean the ~140 MB file you get OTA, but the larger sized full firmware like you would download from Asus' support page. I tried modifying a link to see if I could download it indirectly from Asus but it doesn't seem it's available. I know there's a pre-rooted version of this firmware available, which leads me to think there's a non-rooted full firmware somewhere, but I guess it's possible it's a *.12 firmware with the *.19 content applied to it.

SM-G800F from (rooted) KitKat 4.4.2 to Lollipop 5.1.1 via OTA, ODIN or FlashFire ?

Hi,
I like to upgrade SM-G800F from (rooted) KitKat 4.4.2 to Lollipop 5.1.1 via OTA, ODIN or FlashFire.
Is there a OTA update file available for download, I see that FlashFire can flash OTA updates.
Or can I modify a official G800FXXU1BPE1_G800FPRO1BPE1_G800FXXU1BPC4_HOME.tar.md5 firmware file to use as a OTA file?
It would be nice if all my date could stay intact as my app's.
Any information or suggetions are more than welcome
I think with the rooted device You will not get any official update. I suggest You to pick the desired firmare for Your model and flash it via Odin.
The data partition will be kept but sometimes the old app settings will collide with the new app versions. Better You make backupscof Your important app data e.g. with helium (does not require root).
With xposed I managed to download the OTA file which is 886,66mb in size, however I have another problem that the update.zip file does not complete and stop abrupt.
I susspected this because the remaining mb's jumps to fully downloaded and it went from 98% download to 100% however the download went realy realy slow.
I tried to backup the update.zip file at /data/fota and always I see that the end of the file is corrupt.
Is there a way to download this OTA file somewhere?

Need the current firmware for note 8 Singapore XSP

Last week I installed a requested security update after that I root and installed a custom rom but unfortunately I restart the phone and send me to 7 days jail now when I try to reflash the original firmware became an error sw rev. binary 2 binary 3 I been downloading the current firmware from samfirm but I still have the problem look like samfirm has the 2017 /20/12 it still don't have the current firmware, or what can be wrong?
Thank you in advance!
Jose
If it's an older fw then you probably can't downgrade. If SamFirm doesn't have the new version then have you checked other places like sammobile?
Thank you for the reply, I mean Sammobile that's where I been downloading the firmware but it seems that the don't have the current update, is any other place where I can get the current firmware?

You can also try Updato (.com), or the SamFirm tool (google it) for Samsung firmware downloads, although I am not sure if they have anything more recent than Sammobile. Worth checking though. Worst case, those sites should eventually post the updated firmware you installed, but I am not sure how long it takes for them to appear. I can't imagine it taking too long. If not maybe someone else can chime in
Thank you, still have no luck I guess I have to wait until sammobile release the new firmware with the January security update for Singapore (XSP)

Obtaining files for OTA update with Samsung with Magisk root?

I am looking into updating my S9+ to Android 9.0. The Magisk guide suggests use of FlashFire which I've managed to get up and running on my device, but the issue I have run into is I am unable to get my phone to even download the OTA files required for the update due to Samsung anti-root measures.
I found a website ("firmware.science") which provides these OTA files from firmware x to y but only US phones ("G965U" for the s9+) seem to be supported by the website.
Is there per chance any way trick to download these files elsewhere? I ran a debug on my phone and scanned through the logs to see if my phone was connecting to the update servers in the background but no luck. For the reference my current firmware is G965FXXU2BRJ3.
Thanks in advance.

Why not just flash pie and then reroot cause even with flashfire it doesn't flash protected partitions the bootloader or modem so your wifi and baseband would of been broken anyway

Need help identifying S10+ model, compatible roms and TWRP image

Hello,
I have a Japanese Galaxy S10+ Snapdraon branded for au
CPU-z information: model SCV42_jp_kdi - CPU Qualcomm snapdragon SM8150 8 cores - GPU Adreno 640 - Architecture Kryo 485 - screen 1080x2280 - board msnile - Brand KDDI - model SCV42_jp_kdi
Model number in About phone is SCV42
Model number on box is SM-G975
Bootloader: SCV42KDU1CUD4
Build Number RP1A200720.012.SCV42KDU1CUD4
I have found a matching bootloader here (not sure if this bootloader is needed I have not tried to flash magisk without it) - after flashing the bootloader and patching the official firmware AP with magisk and reinstalling it I get a rooted phone.
The last official rom i could find is dated 2021-04-23.
There are some suspicious sites that claim to have newer firmware that cannot be downloaded without subscribing/paying and then getting taken for a ride throughout links that lead to dead ends.
My first question is can someone who knows this exact model tell me which is the latest official firmware for it? (if available kindly share a link to it)
Edited
The reason I would like the most recent official firmware is to run linux on dex. Currently linux on dex 1.0.51 (which i believe is the last release before it was discontinued - please correct me if I am wrong on this) says it will not run without the latest updates.

It turned out linux on dex only runs on devices with Android 9. So a downgrade is needed instead of an upgrade
Which brings me to my second question: is there a way to know if the hardware in my S10+ model is identical to the hardware on some equivalent USA model? The CPU/GPU are the same but is the rest of the hardware the same? Should the answer be yes would it be possible to flash my device with a more recent official firmware from some USA carrier?
On gsmarena only the following model numbers are listed: SM-G975F/DS (Global); SM-G975U (USA); SM-G975W, on sammmobile SCV42 does not exist. Since the box mentioned model as being SM-G975 I am wondering if there is some naming confusion and a way to figure out which letters to add to SM-G975 to find recent matching firmware or if my model is simply not widespread enough to have received the same attention other models did.
Is there a risk of causing irreversible damage (permanent brick) by trying to upload firmware for another model (most likely candidate SM-G975U)?
My last question is about TWRP, After downloading and flashing the latest S10+ snapdragon image pointed at by the TWRP app my device could not boot. Is there TWRP image compatible with my device?
Many thanks for reading so far and any hints/help provided

Simply installing magisk does not work you have to flash a "cracked rom" before (one that matches your current firmware) installing magisk. I used this one Cracked Rom for the latest available SCV42 firmware (the site requires a registration before allowing downloads).
btw thanks for the help, but i've succed to rooted my phone now using stock rom and magisk

On the contrary this thread is meant to attract people who want to solve the same issues. I did not try installing an international ROM (too big a task to regain all configurations and apps) , however my uninformed non expert current belief is that trying another country's ROM is not going to wreck the device. Worse case would be it will not work and official ROM will have to be reinstalled (potentially with a nand reset). I settled for using magisk debloater to hide/uninstall apps I did not want (branding on startup remains).
Here is my debloat list in case it helps: (for ROM SCV42KDU1CUD4)

Yes it is possible. I have the same model running android 11 rooted and unbloated. android 12 should be the same. I have found the rooted boot loader for my model here:
SCV42 U1 Android 12 ROOT (SCV42KDU1DVE4).tar | Halab Tech Support
support.halabtech.com
This is just to download a rooted firmware boot section
For the whole rooting guide you will need to find one on this forum. (the one i used installed magisk)

downgrade firmware

I would like to downgrade my firmware.
The flashing steps from Linux4 are:
Installing with Heimdall
Extract firmware-SM-G973F-G973FXXUGHVJ1.tar and run
heimdall flash --CM cm.bin --DQMDBG dqmdbg.img --KEYSTORAGE keystorage.bin --RADIO modem.bin --CP_DEBUG modem_debug.bin --PARAM param.bin --BOOTLOADER sboot.bin --UH uh.bin --UP_PARAM up_param.bin
in the directory you extracted it to.
Installing with Odin
Flash firmware-SM-G973F-G973FXXUGHVJ1.tar in BL slot.

This works for upgrades. But for downgrades, download mode on the device gives this error:
SW REV. CHECK FAIL(CW) DEVICE: 16, BINARY: 15
pit_flash_binary - Unsupported version

How can I force heimdall/Odin/device to accept the older firmware and downgrade it?

I have the same problem.
Hello ilf_, it is impossible to go back to an earlier firmware.
Example from 12 to 11 or 10 impossible, on the other hand after what I read you have to reinstall the firmware image example 11 if android 12 is installed, you have to be good at it
explanation here https://azurplus.fr/comment-retrograder-votre-telephone-android-vers-une-version-precedente/
Thanks for your reply, meric57.
However, I am a little confused: it is impossible or is it possible (but "you have to be good at it")?
The link you posted gives generic instructions how to flash firmware, unspecific to downgrades and unspecific to the S10.
I have already tried to flash old firmware with the regular steps, but the devices gives said error.
Is there a way to force the S10 to accept the older firmware? Or not?

I don't think the older version can be installed in this case. I temporarily installed the HVJ1 firmware until I can install a custom ROM. Developers will surely adapt their custom ROMs to this new version of HVJ1. You just have to wait.
Hello ilf-, the official firmware image must be installed with adb as explained. I have read that it is impossible to downgrade android 12 to 11 example, as on the internal memory the android 12 version will be installed so returning or flashing will be impossible.
If not, you can always look for a custom rom under android 11 or 10 of your choice, install magisk then TRWP to be able to install a custom rom with odin.
meric57: I think we have a different definition of "firmware".
When I say firmware, I mean the Wikipedia definition: "In computing, firmware is a specific class of computer software that provides the low-level control for a device's specific hardware."
I mean the 66 MB tar from Linux4, consisting of "cm, dqmdbg, keystorage, modem, modem_debug, param, sboot, uh, up_param". This does NOT include a version of the Android operating system. This is installed via heimdall or Odin in download mode, see Linux4 and my first post.
You seem to understand "firmware" as a bundle of the firmware I mean PLUS a version of the Android operating system. That is 5.3 Gigabytes and distributed on sites like sammobile.com and samfw.com. And that is installed via adb in recovery mode.
But my problem is only with the "small" firmware, so that's all I want to downgrade. I have no problem with the Android operating system and I do not want to touch that.

I solved problem.
From samfw.com I downloaded AMO firmware HVI4. Now I can install Lineage OS and AOSP Android 13.
Great for you, ZmisiS. But that doesn't solve my problem or answer my original question. I don't want to re-install any Android (neither Lineage nor AOSP). I only want to downgrade my firmware.

I've been searching the Internet a lot these days for a solution, but without success. I think that is impossible.
