Need the current firmware for note 8 Singapore XSP - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Last week I installed a requested security update after that I root and installed a custom rom but unfortunately I restart the phone and send me to 7 days jail now when I try to reflash the original firmware became an error sw rev. binary 2 binary 3 I been downloading the current firmware from samfirm but I still have the problem look like samfirm has the 2017 /20/12 it still don't have the current firmware, or what can be wrong?
Thank you in advance!
Jose

If it's an older fw then you probably can't downgrade. If SamFirm doesn't have the new version then have you checked other places like sammobile?

Thank you for the reply, I mean Sammobile that's where I been downloading the firmware but it seems that the don't have the current update, is any other place where I can get the current firmware?

You can also try Updato (.com), or the SamFirm tool (google it) for Samsung firmware downloads, although I am not sure if they have anything more recent than Sammobile. Worth checking though. Worst case, those sites should eventually post the updated firmware you installed, but I am not sure how long it takes for them to appear. I can't imagine it taking too long. If not maybe someone else can chime in

Thank you, still have no luck I guess I have to wait until sammobile release the new firmware with the January security update for Singapore (XSP)

[Q] Regarding OTA Update after Odin Flash Update

Hi, I've got a galaxy note here in the Philippines, I bought it from a store who seems to have gotten the unit from another country, because I'm not getting the XXLA# updates, I'm still stuck at the KK5 update which I checked isn't for the philippines.
And since last week there's been and LA# OTA update for my friend's galaxy note which was purchased at a local samsung store here in the philippines, which i'm not getting on mine.
My question is if I manually update via Odin to the same firmware("philippine" firmware) as my friend's note. Will I still be able to get future OTA updates?
And if I do which updates will I be getting in the future, will i get the one he gets too, or will it still be from whatever country my unit came from.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks!
I think you can get future update using odin without losing root. If you go with OTA update in the future, but you will loose root.

If you don't mind wiping your device (and backing up/restoring etc), you could change your CSC code to another region which is getting the updates sooner for example DBT. Search the forums on how to change it, and if you have done this after flashing the latest LA# stock ROM from your chosen region, you should receive all the latest updates OTA or via kies. If your csc doesn't match the stock rom region then lies won't update.

I've actually read a some about changing the csc of my device after putting up this post Sadly though when I checked my csc, I only have XEU.
So if I understand correctly, official OTA/Kies updates will be provided to your phone as long as you have an official rom with it's matching csc am I correct? And that the serial of the phone or any other data doesn't matter.
I had a uk unlocked note on XEU .. I couldnt change the CSC
I took the plunge because I was sick of the LA4 wait for the UK Version XEU
I flashed German LA4 with odin
My phone is now faster .... better keyboard and best of all I now have access to all the CSC's ..
If you flash an official firmware it doesnt affect the binary count ... I dont think it voids your warranty either because your flashing official samsung software
Here is a guide for flashing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
All you do is download odin , download LA4 from german note (all shown on page)
extract the LA4 kernal .... open up odin , click on pda and click on where you saved the file
Put your note into download mode (power , home and volume down) ....
click volume up
Then connect your phone to the usb cable ...... you will get a yellow confirmation on odin and click start .. within 5 mins you have new flashed version .. it doesnt wipe your handset all settings are kept
Plus you will then be able to change your csc to which ever country gets the next update (usually germany)
Good luck well worth the plunge ..
As you handset is XEU you will retain english settings

I am not getting the G950USQU2CRB9 OTA update on beta G950USQU2CRA5

Why am I not getting it? I checked for system updates and it says I am already up to date, but everyone is saying Oreo is out now.
I have crc5. So, somehow I have an even newer version. I would guess we need to go back to the last Verizon Android v7 to have the OTA work.
Good to know. Guess I need to find a firmware download for it and flash it manually with odin

No may update for Singapore model still?

Its been a month now and I haven't got any update I'm still on ASD5. If It's only me who haven't got the update then please let me know what to do now. I want to update without losing data via odin.and I haven't touched my bootloader or tried to root.
I believe even the latest update for May patch has been pulled out due to several issues reported.

I bought this phone today.. is iy possibly the reason to nog getting may update at all. I updated for the first time today
No, some regions never got the may update which has actually been fortunate. The may update has been withdrawn due to issues.
I'm in Australia and it didn't get released. https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2019/05/relax-samsungs-big-s10-bug-wont-affect-aussies/
I've already updated to ASE6 firmware.. Using samfirm download the OXM ASE6 firmware from any region which have this and extract the zip files.. Put the respective files using odin and use the home_csc to flash to phone.. You won't loose any data or files in your phone and will have the latest firmware...
Just wait like most everyone else does. It doesn't go out to everyone at the same time. It's not always best to be first.
It's quite sad but I know singapore is very slow at receiving samsung firmware updates...
Indonesia region still doesn't have it yet...

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Software update[Need Help]

Hey everyone this is my first post and I'd like you all to help as much as you can.
I've had this Note 8 for a little over a year. The current carrier it has is T-mobile. I've notice there are new updates to the note 8 models but I'm still on Android 8.0.0 and Samsung Experience version 9.0. Everytime I go to the settings and try manually update it the message always says my phone is already up-to-date.
Please help.

Sometimes a factory reset can resolve OTA's, just make sure to back up all your data beforehand. You could also download the filmware from Sammobile or updato and flash it with Odin to update it to the current build, using the "homecsc" file will keep your data.

Download this firmware and then use Odin to flash it and if you don't want to lose any of your information that you already have in there, in the .zip folder after you extract it once you'll see all the files you need but there will be 2 CSC files only use the one that says HOMECSC if you use the other one it'll factory reset your device so don't use that one. Make sure you also download the latest version of Odin.. Firmware for download link is https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=4349826312261709167

SM-N950F Note 8 UK update help

Hi,
I have a note 8 (SM-N950F) UK. It's unlocked and is still on Android 8.0.0 and the security patch version is 01/04/2018.
When I try do an OTA update it says I've got the latest version of the software installed. I've downloaded Samsung Smart Switch and and that says "Your device software is up to date: RD7(XEU)
I don't think my note 8 has a OEM version of the rom on it. (When I originally got it, I believe it was on the EE network, but wasn't locked to that network).
I was wondering if anybody can help me with the fact i can't seem to update it to Android version to 9 or update the security software.
The details are:
AP: N950FXXU3CRD7
CP: N950FXXU3CRB9
CSC: N950FOXM3CRDC
Don't really know what the above means, but would like to update the ROM to Android 9.
Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
Terry.

BACKUP First!!
On PC: (computer)
-Download samfirm.exe or frija
-Download latest Odin version (can be found in sammobile.com firmware section or google search)
-Open up samfirm.exe or frija use : SM-N950F and XEU in the search fields and download file (~4.8 GB File) and unzip the zip file.
-Open Odin and put PHONE in download mode and connect to PC.
-Place the 4 files in its correct place:
BL = BL-FILE
AP = AP-FILE
CP = CP-FILE
CSC = CSC-FILE or HOME-CSC FILE **
** CSC-FILE WILL DELETE EVERYTHING and bring back to factory settings (like doing factory reset!) Backup first before choosing this file.
** HOME-CSC FILE will keep data intact
So choose only ONE File!!!
If you run into bugs after update do a factory reset!
They're YouTube guides on how to use Odin and samfirm.exe or frija!
But beware that you CAN NOT go back to android 8 period! So make sure that you really want to go to pie!!
Just to add to what Bluephnx said, the link below will help you on how to use Odin, but also has the download link for SamFirm. (For region in Samfirm, use either XEU, which is UK and Ireland, or BTU, which is UK, or you will get carrier bloatware. You can obviously flash carrier filmware if you choose)

Many thanks for that. Much appreciated.
I'll give what you suggest a go.
Really don't understand why I can't do it OTA tho', would there be something wrong with my phone to stop OTA update working?
And is there any reason not to go to Pie (9) and stick on 8 that you know of?

It just glitches/bugs out sometimes. It has happened to me before, but once flashing via Odin, it usually resolves the OTA problem. You could try a factory reset, which can sometimes resolve the OTA bug, just back your data up first.
I honestly can't remember what Oreo was like to make a comparison for you, but some people do hate Pie, where I have been very happy with it since it's launch.
Here is a little explanation of Pie on the Note 8 on YT that you may find useful.

Did you ever do the OTA update yourself before on that phone or did you just buy it on AP: N950FXXU3CRD7 CP: N950FXXU3CRB9 CSC: N950FOXM3CRDC? If it's been that way since you got it then the most likely answer is that someone else updated it using a version of firmware that can't update via OTA and the only way to fix that is to use odin and flash the latest version of firmware.
