No may update for Singapore model still? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Its been a month now and I haven't got any update I'm still on ASD5. If It's only me who haven't got the update then please let me know what to do now. I want to update without losing data via odin.and I haven't touched my bootloader or tried to root.

I believe even the latest update for May patch has been pulled out due to several issues reported.

I bought this phone today.. is iy possibly the reason to nog getting may update at all. I updated for the first time today

No, some regions never got the may update which has actually been fortunate. The may update has been withdrawn due to issues.
I'm in Australia and it didn't get released. https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2019/05/relax-samsungs-big-s10-bug-wont-affect-aussies/

I've already updated to ASE6 firmware.. Using samfirm download the OXM ASE6 firmware from any region which have this and extract the zip files.. Put the respective files using odin and use the home_csc to flash to phone.. You won't loose any data or files in your phone and will have the latest firmware...

Just wait like most everyone else does. It doesn't go out to everyone at the same time. It's not always best to be first.

It's quite sad but I know singapore is very slow at receiving samsung firmware updates...

Indonesia region still doesn't have it yet...

[Q] Regarding OTA Update after Odin Flash Update

Hi, I've got a galaxy note here in the Philippines, I bought it from a store who seems to have gotten the unit from another country, because I'm not getting the XXLA# updates, I'm still stuck at the KK5 update which I checked isn't for the philippines.
And since last week there's been and LA# OTA update for my friend's galaxy note which was purchased at a local samsung store here in the philippines, which i'm not getting on mine.
My question is if I manually update via Odin to the same firmware("philippine" firmware) as my friend's note. Will I still be able to get future OTA updates?
And if I do which updates will I be getting in the future, will i get the one he gets too, or will it still be from whatever country my unit came from.
Sorry for the long post. Thanks!
I think you can get future update using odin without losing root. If you go with OTA update in the future, but you will loose root.

If you don't mind wiping your device (and backing up/restoring etc), you could change your CSC code to another region which is getting the updates sooner for example DBT. Search the forums on how to change it, and if you have done this after flashing the latest LA# stock ROM from your chosen region, you should receive all the latest updates OTA or via kies. If your csc doesn't match the stock rom region then lies won't update.

I've actually read a some about changing the csc of my device after putting up this post Sadly though when I checked my csc, I only have XEU.
So if I understand correctly, official OTA/Kies updates will be provided to your phone as long as you have an official rom with it's matching csc am I correct? And that the serial of the phone or any other data doesn't matter.
I had a uk unlocked note on XEU .. I couldnt change the CSC
I took the plunge because I was sick of the LA4 wait for the UK Version XEU
I flashed German LA4 with odin
My phone is now faster .... better keyboard and best of all I now have access to all the CSC's ..
If you flash an official firmware it doesnt affect the binary count ... I dont think it voids your warranty either because your flashing official samsung software
Here is a guide for flashing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
All you do is download odin , download LA4 from german note (all shown on page)
extract the LA4 kernal .... open up odin , click on pda and click on where you saved the file
Put your note into download mode (power , home and volume down) ....
click volume up
Then connect your phone to the usb cable ...... you will get a yellow confirmation on odin and click start .. within 5 mins you have new flashed version .. it doesnt wipe your handset all settings are kept
Plus you will then be able to change your csc to which ever country gets the next update (usually germany)
Good luck well worth the plunge ..
As you handset is XEU you will retain english settings

October OTA Update 4BQJ2 is out

Just got my OTA update notification. Update went smoothly (sorry, forgot to check file size before updating. Confirmed BlueBorne vulnerability is fixed.
Not sure if this is unique to me, but post-update, my phone is now telling me my SD card is unsupported and asking me if I want to format. Really hoping to avoid backing up a 200GB card, formatting and restoring this weekend. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue too or if just my luck to have to deal with, but just a warning out there to those who may decide they want to unmount their SD cards before updating.
FWIW, my device seems to be running just a bit smoother after a day of use. No noticeable change in battery life. Pleased with the update so far.
quick newbie question, I have the G935A , fully stocked, but using it on a Canadian network, I was told I won't get the update via OTA so I installed Smart Switch, but it also says my device is up to date which has the May security patch installed (that's what it came with when I bought it last month). Any idea where I can find just the OTA patch and update the phone ?

If you aren't running on an AT&T network, you might seriously consider switching to the U firmware. Of course, Samsung conveniently forgets the U firmware exists too, so that might not gain you a whole lot at the moment.
I have the U firmware and I've been checking for updates, but nothing (I'm on the August security patch). Is there a way to force the update or use Odin or side load it? My phone was originally built for the Sprint network, then the previous owner flashed it to work on AT&T. I was not able to get any updates (was stuck on the May security patch). I used Odin to put the U firmware on it and then got 3 security patch updates after that.

The U firmware always lags the carrier firmware. August is sadly the current date for the unlocked devices for now.
All I had to do was be patient. I got the newest update (4BQJ5 - November security patch) this morning.

Can you switch from CE1 to customUK without losing data?

I originally flashed from US to CE1 .374 w/ us oem fix. Not sure why I didn't use the custom UK that everyone else was using, but now I'm lagging behind in the updates. Can I use newflasher to switch between versions or is that just asking for trouble? I thought i saw somewhere about flashing and not losing user data, but that probably is for staying in the same verison?
also, after doing the us oem fix, can you update through ota? or do you have to reflash everytime?

You can flash new firmware without loosing your data. Use Xperiafirm to download the firmware of your choice. If you are looking for UK firmwares to flash, I would go with '1310-6856 Customized UK' as this is unbranded and you won't get any carrier bloatware in it.
Unpack newflasher into the same folder as the firmware. If you don't want to loose your data remove userdata_XFLASH.sin. Then start newfalsher.
I don't think OTA updates will work as you're in the worng region, but I'd be happy if someone corrected me on that.
I would hold off flashing until the new 47.1.A.5.51 is available for UK Customized, it should be any day now.
yip im on UK Customized, and its taking ages for the rollout to happen, but I think i will just wait as I found that when I changed regions before . The region that I switched to got rolled out at a different time the next rollout out.
I guess sony change the regions for very release.
OTA will work for you i.e you will get the UK Customized OTA if your in the states.

I called Sony and asked them this question. "If I buy a UK phone from England and use it in the US, will updates take away the fingerprint sensor?" This was the answer, "No. If you install Sony Xperia Companion to your computer and do your updates that way, it will always update to UK version specs."
Hi, i would like to do a flash from UK/HK rom to CE1. Is there risky regarding TA or anything else ? Could i loose my camera and fingerprint usage ?
Thx

and you do continue to get OTA updates of the region/brand you flashed.
After using newflasher to update to customized DE 47.1.A.7.1 saving my userdata with no problems, i decided to update to the newest 47.1.A.8.49 using the same method, and am having a few problems. first, when i startup, memory app and software update both have errors and stop. then settings have weird characters instead of %s.
I tried flashing back to .7.1 but went into a bootloop.
I flashed back to .8.49 and it works, but still has those problems that initally made me try flashing back to .7.1
Any ideas?
thanks
wonder if i'm doing something wrong when trying to preserve user data.. i'm trying to go from CustomUK (my phone is on 47.1.A.2.374) to Custom CE1 (which is on A.8.49). i downloaded the firmware files via XperiFirm, and removed the user data.sin file. I also replaced the OEM.sin file with the US version, then used newflasher. but my phone gets stuck in a boot loop, and i have to resort to wiping user data.

I did the same, flashed the DE 47.1.A.7.1, it worked perfectly. Then last night I got an OTA update via 'sony update' on my phone. I let it do it's thing and it's been working fine ever since. Perhaps go back to 7..1 and let Sony update it?

Pretty sure it would have worked if you had just removed the userdata.sin. I moved from different firmware & region using this method and it worked fine. I don't know what OEM.sin does, but mixing them up from different regions is probably the issue.
The attached screen shot shows some of the text errors in my update. Anyway to fix this kind of stuff?
Thx
this explains why i couldn't flash back to .7.1.
I'm on Customized UK .2.374 with the US OEM file. It's a US model on Cricket Wireless. So far I haven't been notified of any OTAs, even after checking in settings several times over the last few days, but Xperifirm shows .5.51 as being available for Customized UK. Based on the replies in this thread, it sounds like I'm supposed to get the UK OTA, but it hasn't shown up yet.
Has anyone in the US on the UK firmware with US OEM file actually seen an OTA yet? Ideally I'd like to keep getting OTAs and avoid flashing every update...
(This would be so much less painful if Sony had just enabled the fingerprint scanner in the US...)
Have you tried with the Xperia Companion on a PC?

I was in the same boat. I was on the CustomUK firmware with US OEM file, and after I saw Xperifirm update to .5.51, i never saw it update via OTA on my phone. Ended up flashing to the Customized CE1 version since that is up to date on .8.49

Thanks. Do you think it's because we're not on a UK carrier or because of the hybrid firmware from flashing the US OEM file?
Anyone else on the same setup...please let us know if you're also not getting OTAs.

The OTA's are checked based on a combination of the parameters found in the OEM partition and the system partition.
Specifically these found in the /oem/system-properties/cust.prop file:
ro.semc.version.cust=1310-4371
ro.semc.version.cust_revision=R8B
And these in the /system/etc/prop.default file:
ro.semc.version.sw=1307-7511
ro.semc.version.sw_revision=47.1.A.2.324
It builds a web query from the parameters like this:
http://fuas.sonymobile.com/fuas/services/updates?cdfId=CUST&cdfVer=CUST_REVISION&channel=cable&clientName=Xperia%20Companion%20Win&clientVersion=1.7.2.0&devId=IMEI&lang=en-US&model=G8441&securityState=HWC_Yoshino_Com_001&swId=SW&swVer=SW_REVISION&tac_mc=NO_IDEA&updateFormat=image
You can see the complete URL for your phone in the Xperia Companion logs.
Just look for a line starting with: http://fuas.sonymobile.com
So although you have an older SW_REVISION, if it's newer than the firmware available for CUST then a firmware update isn't offered.
What this means is that Sony is providing OTA's that are essentially based on your OEM region and the US region only has version 47.1.A.2.324 available.
So if you have newer firmware than that, you aren't offered the update.
This also means that if you are offered an update, it will be the US version of the OTA which may cause problems when it tries to patch binaries from a different region's partition.
I haven't been able to get my hands on any OTA files yet, so I don't know what's in them or probability of an OTA breaking a phone with mixed region firmware bits.

Need the current firmware for note 8 Singapore XSP

Last week I installed a requested security update after that I root and installed a custom rom but unfortunately I restart the phone and send me to 7 days jail now when I try to reflash the original firmware became an error sw rev. binary 2 binary 3 I been downloading the current firmware from samfirm but I still have the problem look like samfirm has the 2017 /20/12 it still don't have the current firmware, or what can be wrong?
Thank you in advance!
Jose
If it's an older fw then you probably can't downgrade. If SamFirm doesn't have the new version then have you checked other places like sammobile?
Thank you for the reply, I mean Sammobile that's where I been downloading the firmware but it seems that the don't have the current update, is any other place where I can get the current firmware?

You can also try Updato (.com), or the SamFirm tool (google it) for Samsung firmware downloads, although I am not sure if they have anything more recent than Sammobile. Worth checking though. Worst case, those sites should eventually post the updated firmware you installed, but I am not sure how long it takes for them to appear. I can't imagine it taking too long. If not maybe someone else can chime in
Thank you, still have no luck I guess I have to wait until sammobile release the new firmware with the January security update for Singapore (XSP)

Samsung S10 AT&T (G973U) not getting updates since 1 August, 2019 Security Patch

Hey guys.
I bought my phone from AT&T retail shop in the US last year. But unfortunately I had to move back to my home country. Ever since the August 2019 Security Patch, I have yet to get any update. The AT&T website indicates that my phone is due to get an update in December 2019 but I have yet to get it.
Is there a way I can resolve this. Whenever I check for updates, it indicates that my phone is up to date. This happens also when I use Smart Switch application.
Samsung S10, Snapdragon 855
Model: G973U
Baseband Version: G973USQS2ASGK
Thanks in advance.
August? You are like 4 or 5 updates behind! Android 10 is out for the S10 now. You're probably going to have to flash the latest firmware using the patched version of Odin floating around the forum here.

Unfortunately since August. But thank you for this insight..I have been searching for days on what I should do. Though I would like to know when I do flash using Odin, will I start getting updates or do I need to update manually every time.
Also if there is any other way of solving this problem without having to flash my phone I am willing to give it a shot.
Flash whenever you want, but it will reset your phone unless CSC_home is used. You might get updates after flashing with Odin as long as your SIM card matches the firmware (i.e. T-mobile firmware and SIM), but then again you might be stuck using Odin to update every time.
